Most lead magnets aren't being consumed - they're being collected.
Downloaded. Saved. Added to a folder called "I'll look at this later."
And then never opened again.
In this episode, I'm sharing why I think we're entering a new era of audience growth - one where information alone is no longer enough.
What You'll Learn in This Episode:
- Why traditional lead magnets are becoming harder to stand out with
- The shift from information to personalisation
- How I turned an old PDF into Subject Line Studio
- The difference between passive content and interactive experiences
- Why quizzes, assessments, calculators, planners, and AI-powered tools are gaining traction
- How to create a lead magnet people actually use instead of simply download
Key Takeaway
The value isn't the PDF.
The value is the expertise inside the PDF.
The PDF is just the container.

[00:00:00] Everywhere I look right now, someone is telling you to create a lead magnet, a checklist, a PDF, a guide, a mini course, a custom GPT. And honestly, I don't think most business owners have a lead magnet problem. I think they have an engagement problem because people aren't struggling to find information anymore.
[00:00:16] They're drowning in it. So if I was building my email list from scratch in 2026, there is only one type of lead magnet I would create, and it probably isn't what you think. Let's talk about it
[00:00:30] Are you a female business owner frustrated with battling the algorithm and looking for growth strategies that don't involve awkwardly pointing or dancing online or throwing cash at paid ads? Welcome to the Email Growth Show. I'm your host, Kylie Kelly, visibility and email marketing strategist. I grew my email list from zero to almost 10,000 subscribers in less than two years, and the same is possible for you too.
[00:00:57] Are you ready to build your email list and start making more [00:01:00] money in your online business? Let's head into today's episode.
[00:01:06] Hey, hey. Welcome back to the Email It Growth Show. I am so excited that you are here again this week, my loves. Now, before we get into this conversation, let me be really clear. This is not me declaring that PDFs are dead. This is not me saying quizzes are the answer to everything. This is not me saying that you need more AI in your life.
[00:01:25] And this is definitely not me saying that every lead magnet you've ever created should be thrown in the bin, because plenty of traditional lead magnets still work. They absolutely do. But if I was starting from scratch today, if I had zero subscribers, zero audience, and I could only build one lead magnet this year, I would build something interactive every single time.
[00:01:48] And the reason has very little to do with technology. It has everything to do with how people consume information now. A little bit of context, but a few months ago I became obsessed, not [00:02:00] with AI, but with engagement, with actually building relationships, with getting to know my people deeper, right?
[00:02:06] And in doing that, I kept noticing the same Business owners were sitting on incredible expertise, Workshop recordings that they had poured their heart, soul and expertise into, frameworks that they'd developed over years, processes that were tried, tested and proven, trainings from summits or collaborations that they had recorded, years of experience helping their ideal clients.
[00:02:28] And every month they would say, " Hmm, I should turn that into a lead magnet," or, "I should create a paid offer from that," or, "I should do something with that workshop." Does that sound familiar? I know I've said that before as And then what happens? Six months goes by Nothing actually gets created.
[00:02:46] And honestly, I think part of this reason is because creating another PDF doesn't feel very exciting anymore, right? It doesn't feel exciting to us as the business owner, and often it's not exciting for our audiences [00:03:00] either. And then at the same time, I started noticing something else. The resources people spent the most time with weren't static, they weren't passive.
[00:03:08] They required participation, right? Like, people were clicking, they were answering questions, they were making choices, they were entering information. They were getting specific recommendations and receiving personalized outcomes. And the moment somebody participates, everything changes. Because here's what I think is happening.
[00:03:27] For years, the online business world rewarded information, right? Like create a guide, create a checklist, create a training, create a resource. And people would sign up because information felt valuable. But now information is fucking everywhere, right? When we need something, we ask ChatGPT. Need a subject line?
[00:03:46] Ask Need content ideas? Ask Claude. Need a launch checklist? Ask AI. Need help naming your offer? Ask AI. Like, information has become abundant. Now, whether it's good information or not [00:04:00] is another conversation altogether, but it's still information. And when something becomes abundant, its value changes.
[00:04:06] And I think that's a shift most business owners are missing. The value is no longer access to information. The value is helping somebody apply that information to their specific situation, their specific business. Now, the challenge isn't access to information anymore. The challenge is knowing what the fuck to do with it, to apply it, to figure out like, what does this mean for And that's why I think interactive lead magnets are becoming really because they help people find themselves inside that information, and that is very different
[00:04:41] Think about the difference. A PDF that says, "Here's how to write better emails," or an interactive tool that says, "Here's what I think you should focus on first," A PDF that says, "Here are 10 offer ideas," or an interactive experience that says, "Based on your answers, these are the offer [00:05:00] ideas that fit your business."
[00:05:02] See the huge difference? One is purely information, but the other is interpretation. And interpretation, especially when it's customized, when it's personal, is becoming incredibly valuable. So if I was starting today, I would build something that gives a personalized result. It could be a quiz, a scorecard, an assessment, a calculator, a diagnostic, a planner, an interactive workbook, Honestly, the format, like always, doesn't matter so much. It's the outcome that matters. So the question isn't, like, what technology should I use? What AI should I use? The question really is, like, how can I help someone get a personalized answer? Now, let me give you an example.
[00:05:46] Because whenever I talk about interactive lead magnets, I can always hear people thinking, " That sounds great, Kylie, but I'm very technical." " or, "I wouldn't even know where to start." And here's the funny thing, like, neither would [00:06:00] I.
[00:06:00] I've been a ChatGPT girly for the last year or so. I've only recently started playing with Claude. I haven't uploaded skills. I haven't optimized anything. I don't have some fancy AI set up. I literally am just experimenting.
[00:06:14] And what I've realized is that it's so much simpler than people think. One of the best examples I could give you is my Subject Line Studio. So years ago, when I had my old membership, I created a that was 120 of my highest converting subject lines. And it was good.
[00:06:31] Like, people downloaded it. The membership members loved it. They used But let's be honest, it was still a PDF. Like, you downloaded it, you opened it, you had to scroll through the 120 subject lines. You found a category, then you tried to figure out which one might work for your email. Then you edited it.
[00:06:48] Then you hoped for the best, right? Now, this exact same content has become an interactive experience inside my Skool group. So I took these same subject lines, I gave them to Claude, not Claude [00:07:00] Cowork or one of the Claude Code or anything like that. I don't even really know how they work. I just gave them to the chat in Claude and I built Subject Line Studio as a Claude artifact.
[00:07:10] Now, somebody can choose the category, sales email, nurture email, launch email, whatever it is, whatever they need. The tool gives them five options. They can copy and paste their email into the tool, and it can personalize that subject line based on the email that they have written, same expertise from me, same information I was providing, completely different experience, and that's the shift I'm talking about.
[00:07:36] The value wasn't the PDF. The value was the expertise inside the PDF. The PDF was just, like, holding it. It was just a container. Now, I've just created, thanks to Claude, a better container, one that people can actually use, one that they can engage with, one that gives them a result in minutes instead of becoming another download sitting in a folder somewhere, or taking 20 minutes to [00:08:00] figure out which subject line suited the email that they'd written, right?
[00:08:03] And the crazy thing, creating that tool probably took me 30 minutes. Not 30 days, not six months, 30 minutes. And because it's built as an artifact, I can brand it, host it on my website, I can create a beautiful experience around it, and all of a sudden, that exact same expertise feels far more valuable.
[00:08:24] Not because the information changed, but because the experience changed. And I think that's the opportunity that most business owners are missing right now. You're probably already sitting on content. I know you're sitting on expertise. I know you've got frameworks and workshops and trainings and processes, client methodology that you've used for years, right?
[00:08:43] Like, you've got so much right there. So the thing that you're looking for might not be a brand-new lead magnet. It might just be a better way to package the one you already have. And that's really good news because I know so many women who already have, like I said, three, four, five, [00:09:00] sometimes 10 lead magnets sitting on their Google Drive.
[00:09:02] Who can relate to that, right? When we just create the new lead magnet 'cause we think it's the lead magnet causing our audience not to grow, when often it's not the However, we have all these lead magnets and so we don't need another one. the issue is that nobody is using the ones that we already have, right? So again, what have you got that you could make an experience, that you could make interactive?
[00:09:24] This is actually what I've become so fascinated with interactive tools lately. Not because they're trendy, not because they're AI, not because they're shiny, but because they solve a real problem. I would bet my life that your audience doesn't need another 17-page PDF. They need help moving forward. They need help deciding. They need help identifying the next step. And if your lead magnet can do that, you've immediately become more valuable. This isn't some prediction about where I think things are heading.
[00:09:51] It's already happening. People are spending less time consuming information and more time looking for answers that are relevant to them
[00:09:59] In fact, [00:10:00] this is exactly why I'm running the interactive offer intensive, because I genuinely believe business owners are sitting on so much gold. All of their past content, their trainings, their recorders, their lessons learned, their expertise that they've spent years building upon, most of it never gets repackaged.
[00:10:17] It never gets turned into something that works for them long after the live session ends. And many of those things don't need to become another PDF. They could become an experience. Like I said, an assessment, a planner, a recommendation engine, a diagnostic, a tool, something people actually use. And that's where I think the opportunity is.
[00:10:35] Now, maybe you're listening and thinking, "Kylie, this sounds amazing, but I don't know how to build any of Good because honestly, you don't need to. The idea matters more than the tech. h- And some of the women joining me in this intensive, they have a lead magnet that they love.
[00:10:49] We're just gonna make it a bit sexier. We're just gonna AI-ify it so it's actually interactive, so it's actually an experience. They don't need to create a new one. Others don't have a lead magnet, so we're gonna look at the workshops [00:11:00] that they've done, we're gonna look anything that we can then repackage to make a lead magnet so that they can start to really attract their ideal clients, right?
[00:11:07] This is where the magic lives. So to answer the question of this entire episode, if I was building my audience from scratch in 2026, I would not spend months creating another generic PDF or even an online course. Now, that's a whole other conversation. However, I wouldn't spend my time there. I would spend my time asking, "How can I create interaction?
[00:11:27] How can I create participation? How can I help somebody get an answer that's specific to Because in a world where information is fucking everywhere, personalization becomes incredibly valuable. That is something that AI can't replace, and I think we are just at the beginning of this shift. I genuinely think we're moving from information to transformation, content to experience, teaching to interaction.
[00:11:54] And the business that stands out over the next few years won't necessarily be the ones creating the most content. They'll be [00:12:00] the ones helping people make decisions. They'll be the ones creating clarity for their ideal clients. They'll be the ones creating useful and memorable experiences. And if you're already sitting on years of expertise, If you're already sitting on workshops, courses, trainings, content, any of that, You might be a lot closer to building one than you think. Now, of course, if you wanna come and join me in the Interactive Offer Intensive, you can join me anytime throughout June.
[00:12:27] I've got four live sessions that I'm running throughout the month, But the actual training will be dropping before we start. The investment is $197, or you can come and join the premium tier of my Skool community just for $49 a month, and you get it included.
[00:12:41] I'll include the link so you can go and check out the sales page in the show notes. But honestly, if you have a lead magnet that isn't performing, that isn't getting signups, that isn't leading people anywhere, that isn't getting that engagement, that interaction, then come and join me and let's transform it into an interactive experience that's gonna blow your ideal client's [00:13:00] socks off.
[00:13:00] Or if you don't have a lead magnet this is also the place for you. Come and join me and let me help you create that has the power to transform your business over the next couple of months. It c- has the power to really bring the right people into your audience and give them an experience that is in line with the brand and the business that you are building that can build that trust, that just sets that relationship up for the win. I would love to help you with that throughout the month of June. All right, my loves, that is all from me this week. I love you so much. Thank you so much for being here, and I can't wait to speak to you again next week. Or perhaps I'll see you inside the intensive. All right, bye for now
