Marissa Season 3 Episode 2

Hi and welcome back to who you Are. Please feel free to check out the podcast Instagram, which is who you are underscore pod. That's P-O-D. And of course, you can listen to this podcast wherever you're listening to it on currently, I mean, it seems like you found it. But just for reference, you can listen to it on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Amazon Music and of course, the Buzz Sprout website. So today is finally the day. I don't know. I feel like I've been wanting to do this for a while. I just haven't done it. But we are going to be talking about the best episodes of Bob's Burgers. Uh. I watched this show all the time. I've watched it since it came out. And. I've kind of tried to pinpoint why I really like the show, but when it first started and it first, you know, was coming out, I feel like what it was for me is just the simple storylines and the very simple art. Maybe it actually wasn't simple to do, I'm sure not, but it just, you'll kind of see what I mean if you were to go back to like season one or season two. The art isn't super detailed. Like it is now or like shows even of that time, I feel like, or cartoons because it is a cartoon. But just the animation style is more simple. There's not as much detail, which I really enjoy, I don't know about other people, but I feel like I really like that kind of animation style. I do have to say, if I were to if I were to find the show where it's at now, because I think right now it's at like, um season 15, maybe, 14 or 15. I don't think I would really enjoy this show that much and I wouldn't have clung onto it like I have just because it has evolved so much. But because I. Because I'm just very loyal to this show, I am sticking with it. But I will say, it's a totally different show or totally different vibe than, you know, what it started out as, which you know, it's okay. Anywho, so we'll just get right into it. I'm going to do the top five, my picks, of course, of course, if you watch this show.. You know, you'll have your own opinion, but we'll do the top five Bob's Burgers's episodes. from season one to current season, which I honestly don't I need to check on that if it's season 15, 14, 15, or 1,'s that's the realm that we're in currently. Okay, so we're going to start off with, should we go, oh, you know what? Let's just go or bottom to top, so we'll save the best for last, in my opinion. Okay, so number five, we are going to do house trap, and that is from season five, episode 19. And I won't get too much into this. I don't want this to be a long thing, but I'm just going to give maybe a quick reason why I like the episode. But okay, so.... Number five, houseetrap because it introduces the character Helen. And I just think it's a really funny episode because quick summary of it. The Belchers go to this rich lady's house. She's a widow and just kind of threw some like little minor investigating Louise and Linda figure out that Helen is probably a murder. So the widow, she's not there currently at the house towards the middle to end. She gets there and, you know, it's like, oh, I'm a really nice person. And then just kind of throw all the rest of the episode, they figure out, oh, no, she actually is the killer. Most likely, of course, nothing was ever. super confirmed, but you know she's the murderer. And I feel like what makes it is honestly, what makes the episode a good episode for me is like, you know, so at the end, like the family's leaving, the vultures are leaving the house after a stormy night and they stayed the night at this rich widow, Helen's house. and they're leaving. They're all on good terms. And they're pulling away from the car after waving goodbye and, you know, like, oh, she's so nice. And then they, they turn around and they're driving away and Helen's face just completely. It is completely falls into like this, like, oh my god, like just a murderous stare is basically what it is. Anywho, and so I feel like that was a really good ending. Yeah, so that's why I like that episode. And okay, so episode four, this one, I'm kind of lukewarm about, lukewarm about in the way of like, should it be in the top five? E, you know, it's not that, it's not that crazy, is going to be Mission Impost Sluggable from Season eight, Ep episode 20. And I don't know, I just, the reason I think this episode is pretty funny is because, um when there's this whole little. uh tiff with Tina and Louise and basically, you know, they're trying to figure that out. But the teachers of the school that they go to are involved in this episode. And there's kind of a little side story between Mrs. LeBon's, the librarian guy, the janitor guy. I think that's it. And Mr. Frond, the infamous Mr. Frond. And basically, Mr. Frond is not included in their friend group and they all kind of like hang out on, what is it? Oh, Mart Tuesdays, which is Martini Tuesdays with a teacher group. Or I'm not going to say teacher because I think Mrs. LeBon's is the only actual teacher But I'm going to say maybe that school group. And so basically he has like this Mr. Frond is trying to like get in with their group, even though they hang out and have martinis on my Tuesdays, Mr. Frond doesn't drink, but he wants to hang out with them. And so the teacher group or the school group is like, why does he even want to hang out with us? Because he's kind of boring anyways. And Mr. Frond actually tries to confront them. So it's Mart Tuesday. And he pulls up where they're hanging out at. And he he blasts the radio in his car and he starts doing like a bunch of dancing because he's trying to convince them that he's actually cool. And of course, like, that doesn't really work. It's just kind of, it's silly and funny. But it's just, I don't know. I just thought that was a pretty funny episode. Yeah. Okay. And so number three, we are doing hamburger dinner theater, and that is from season one, episode five. That episode. I think it's just cool because it. Linda loves theater and she thinks she's a good singer. And so she decides to do.. a dinner theater. Because of course, she already has the dinner part. They run a restaurant. And so she feels like it should work out pretty well. Of course, through a bunch of like little funny mishaps. I think they only end up doing... maybe two or three shows, maybe four. But basically there's like a robber involved and he's like a really good singer. And it's just a funny episode because I feel like it's such a, a quintessential Bob and Linda episode in the way that. Linda wants to do something she's so like excited about it. Bob is just like, meh, I just want to do the dinner part that's hard enough, you know? And, um, so it's just kind of their dynam dynamic. That's pretty funny, I feel like throughout this episode is just very like, domestic marriage. vibes. I don't know if that makes sense, but I find it enjoyable. Okay, so episode number two is going to be Topsy from season three, pis episode 16. Why do I like that? Because I feel like it has the most iconic song, which is Electric Love. Probably, I don't know. It's just, it's such a random episode, basically. Jean and Louise and Tina are trying to, like, do a science fair project. Actually, it's Louise's project, but all the kids, of course, are involved in this. And she wants to expose Thomas Edison as an animal murderer, supposedly. I haven't done any research into that, but apparently in this episode, apparently he... electrocuted an elephant. I don't know if that's true. Maybe not. But basically, they turned that, that's that concept, not even a concept, that.. Story, I guess, into like a musical love duet, I think is Jane's words. And it's actually, I don't know. The song is really catchy and it's just interesting because they include Mr. Fish Oer, Gail, Teddy, I think that might be it. Yeah, but it's a really good episode. I like it. Okay, and the first episode on my list, what I consider to be the best episode is Dr. Yap from season two episode six. And that one, just because there is so much going on. Like, in a good way. It's like there's a lot going on storywise, but it's actually fairly cohesive. And there's just a lot of really funny parts. Essentially, there is Dr. Yap, their dentist, and he's kind of just really annoying and kind of obnoxious and and his whole goal is to try to like. I don't know, like. impress women kind of because in this show, he's kind of like a more petite person and actually, Linda, there's a point in this episode where they're skiing and Linda's like, oh, I love your ski suit, Dr. Yap. What size are you? And he's like, I'm a men's something six or I forget the wording. And Linda's like, oh, wow, you know, uh, Oh, I don't know. Okay, I didn't describe that well. But basically she's, they talk about how small and petite he is, but he just wants to seem bigger, you know, like He's just a small person. Anyways. So then, of course, there is Gail, who is Linda's sister and Gail is just a mess sometimes. But she... kind of creates the story in her head, Gale creates the story in her head that she is dating Bob, of course, who is married to her sister, Linda. And so Bob is like freaked out by this and he's, he's telling Linda, this is crazy. And Linda's like, oh, it's fine. It's fine. You know, like she's always been kind of a mess, so she needs this in her life, like just, just go with it. And basically, so there, Bob is kind of trying to figure this out. There's this weird dynamic going on now. And, um Bob kind of makes his own plan of like, oh, you know what? Because he has to go back to the dentist, Dr. Yap, and he sees, of course, how Yap is. And he's like, well, what if we try to get these two together, Gail and Dr? Yap, because they seem kind of perfect for each other. And it basically ends with them going skiing with Dr. Yap at his timeshare. And it's, it's just kind of a funny episode. Linda refers to her love of Tom Selleck in this episode. And we also get to see that Linda and Tina are pretty good skiers. Apparently, they find time to go skiing. the two of them because it apparently stemmed from, I don't know, maybe they went as kids, I don't know, but in this episode, it kind of stems from, oh, there was like a Tom Sellck charity event at one of the ski mountains. And that's how they figured out how to ski. I don't know. I feel like it's also pretty funny because there's just so many funny elephants in this episode. Dr. Yap is also like watching this like video course on, I think it's the Prince of Persuasion. And it's supposed to be this like guide to how to like date women kind of thing. And it's full of terrible advice. And so there's a scene where Dr. Yapp is watching one of the videos and Tina is in the background also trying to watch one of these videos because side note, Tina is in love with her dentist. And so Dr. Yap is trying to like put in some of these like things that he learned from the video where it's like, uh, talk about how you like, um saved somebody from like a wild animal. So Dr. Yap is like, I once had to snap a wolf's neck, you know, to like save an orphan or something. And then Tina gets on a chairlift with him and she's like, once I beat a dog at basketball, And it sounds so dumb when I'm describing it, but it's actually a very funny episode. Yeah, and then at the end, I feel like it's one of my favorite scenes where like, there's again another side story of Louise and Jean who are trying to like fight over a piece of candy, a jawbreaker that their Aunt Gail got them. And they're kind of just doing different like dares basically to like see who can win the candy. And one of their last dares is they have to catch a squirrel and Jean's like, oh, this will be easy. I'm the squirrel whisperer. And then they walk away and then like later it comes back and Gene has a squirrel and it's asleep. And Louise is like, oh, no fair, that's a dead squirrel. And Jean's like, no, it's just sleeping, which I don't know if it was actually dead or asleep, but I'm like, I feel like they should bring that back that Jean is the squirrel whisperer. I don't know. It's a very random detail. But anywho, so those are my top five episodes and yeah, I do want to say there's an honorable mention. I feel like there should be an honorable mention for, um Season 12, episode 18, Clear and Present Ginger. Because specifically, they actually kind of bring the relationship of Linda and her best friend, Ginger a little bit closer. I don't think we ever see Ginger's face, really. Um But throughout the whole, like, their whole story, um, Linda's best friend is named Ginger and she lives out of town. I think, what she say? 90 miles away. It's a small detail, I think, in that episode. But yeah, like, it'll just be like random scenes of her like leaving her a voicemail. Like, they're the friends who like never are able to actually connect, but they're always still there for each other. Like, random text message, random phone call, uh, I don't know. They're just always there. But in this episode, they actually get to hang out together. So I feel like that was a good episode. I will say the worst episode, at least in my opinion, there's actually quite a few episodes that were like, this is terrible. But I feel like the worst episode in my opinion is some kind of fender beautiful from season 11 episode 18. Just because it. in my opinion, it tries so hard to be like, like a moral lesson, like you should be a good person. And like, I feel like they lost. all of the like funny I don't know, why the show used to be funny. It was because they just, you know, would make fun of things or whatever. And it wasn't like, oh, we need to justify why that's okay or why that's not okay. And, you know, they would just do it. And it was kind of, it was that kind of like dark, funny humor. But in this episode, it's very much like you need to be a good person and uh, yeah, basically that. And it was just, I don't know, just not the actual, I don't know. Just didn't hit the mark for me. But anywho, so that's about it. Let me know. If you actually watch Bob's Burgers, I would be super curious to know. what your favorite episodes are or what your least favorite episode is. Yeah. So if you if you see me in real life, let me know. Or. I feel like there was this thing where you can text the podcast. I don't even know how that works. But if you know how that works, you can text me what your favorite episodes are. Okay. All right. Well, I hope you have a great day. And this was actually pretty fun. I enjoyed talking about Bob's Burgers. I love that show. Yeah. Okay. Well, I hope you have a great day and I will see you in the next episode. Bye.
