a bracket that is all about music that gets people singing in a bar
Uh October shot. Yeah, October's definitely shot. No, but like November, the I we're doing uh is this recording? Yeah. All day. Okay. Well we can talk about it later.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_05Do not want to have them record.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was about to say something I didn't want to record it. Okay, so Alright, so you guys ready to start us? Yes. Let's do this. Hey everybody, welcome to Random Brackets. My name is John. Eric. This is Heywood. This is uh episode three of Random Brackets. Random Brackets again is a Suite 16 style tournament in which we rank random topic or r things in random topics and uh have a pretty lively discussion and debate until we get to the best whatever it is we're debating at that time. So today's topic is music that gets white people turned. And I'm gonna hand it off to Eric. Eric's gonna host the rest of the episode since it's his uh it's his list, his topic, and uh he's you can go and take it away from here.
SPEAKER_12Alright. So these are songs. You're sitting at a bar, you know, you're drinking with your friends, these songs come on, and everyone in the place is singing.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so here's the here's the thing. If everyone else is singing, is obviously there's only white people in this bar.
SPEAKER_12No, I've seen I've seen black people sing this song. So the topic is when you're hanging around them, you can you kind of know it by osmosis.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so it's songs that get white people turn and and token.
SPEAKER_05Sure.
unknownDamn.
SPEAKER_05See, this is what I was gonna say before. I was gonna let you finish. Because obviously we had to address the elephant.
SPEAKER_03We gotta address the white elephant in the room.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so I was gonna say this before you even started. Um, ladies and gentlemen, if you cannot tell I'm black. Oh you're black. And so when he brought this up to me, I I was kind of on board until I started seeing the songs and I was like, what the hell is this? Like, literally, what songs is this? Until I had to listen to them and be like, oh, okay, I know these songs, but cannot know these songs to judge. So some of these songs. Some of these songs I do really do not know.
SPEAKER_12Alright, well, let's go through the list of the songs.
SPEAKER_05Go ahead.
SPEAKER_12First matchup, you got Friends in Little Places versus Uptown Girl. Second matchup, we got Bohemian Rhapsody versus Dancing Queen. Third matchup, Don't Stop Believing versus Chicken Friday. Followed by Sweet Home Alabama and Eye of the Tiger. Country Rose, shot through the heart. This is how we do it versus American Pie. Sweet Caroline versus Under Pressure. And a thousand miles versus Rocket Man. Coming at a solid eight and nine. Is that a thousand miles by Vanessa Carlton? Of course.
SPEAKER_03This is how we do it. Why? Why'd you say it like that?
SPEAKER_12Number six, this is how we do it. This is how we do it. Because this is how we do it. I'm sorry. This is how we do it.
SPEAKER_05I got you. I got you. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_12So just keep in mind, everyone, I I I do understand the are there are songs that got left out on the list. This list is made very scientifically. Scientifically. And we're here to debate. Uh and we are looking forward to get into it. So again, first matchup: Friends in Little Places versus Uptown Girl.
unknownLeave it on Mario!
SPEAKER_03Uh Garth Brooks doesn't have a uh you can't get him on Apple or you can get him on Amazon. Oh can you really? Amazon music, yeah. Okay. So that was Friends in Little Places.
SPEAKER_05Oh, you can give Garth Blooks on uh Amazon? He's only on Amazon.
SPEAKER_12He's only on Amazon.
SPEAKER_05Really?
SPEAKER_12Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Wow.
SPEAKER_12I think the pay structure is better. Alright, for uh everyone who is listening, John immediately started dancing at Uptown Girl.
SPEAKER_03I didn't know. Here's the thing though. I think we all know this. I'm I'm a sucker for Billy Joel.
SPEAKER_05Billy Joel's good.
SPEAKER_03I love Billy Joel. I know Billy Joel is Bill Joel.
SPEAKER_05For men that's a pacifist.
SPEAKER_03That's what I don't one, I don't know what that means.
SPEAKER_05Two, white man that are pacifists.
SPEAKER_03I don't remember hearing Piano Man on this list. And again, I know the I know the list was done very scientifically. Scientifically. But you know, at one of these I strongly disagree that Uptown Girl is on here on songs to get white people turned piano man's on out there. And of all there's all the Billy Joel songs we could choose from, and I think there's only one Billy Joel song on this list right now, which again is a travesty on itself, but if if we're gonna be completely honest, Friends of Low Places takes us nine times out of ten. Ten out of ten times, actually.
SPEAKER_05I don't even have to argue about this. Yeah, this is Friends of Low Places. Friends of Low Places.
SPEAKER_03I just I just wanted to go on I just wanted to give my man Billy Joel a shout out, uh a little shout out, and how this is a travesty that he doesn't have more than one song on this list. One, two, everyone loves Billy Joel and Piano Man, which is a which should be on the list of the case. Not everyone loves Billy Joel. Everyone loves Billy Joel. You what?
SPEAKER_05Not everyone loves Billy Joel, John. Okay, well I said it's a good one. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Obviously, not he's not on he's he has not any more songs on this list, so I guess it really doesn't matter. But yeah, Friends and Low Places wins 10 out of 10 times. Obviously, it's a song that you just everyone everyone knows. Even I know Friends in Low Places is the country song that people sing when they say I don't like country, it sounds like Friends. Yeah, that's the song they sing Friends in Low Places. Actually, that's Red Solo Cup.
SPEAKER_05That's not as well known. Oh yeah, okay. Red Solo Cup is not as well well known. Whoa, Red Solo Cup. Yes, it is. Everybody knows Red Solo Cup. Even my party. Ethnic group and generation knows Red Time to Party. Literally.
SPEAKER_09Okay, well, that's the country's winning.
SPEAKER_12Well, this one was a very easy round. This one I feel might be a little harder for John. Just because, you know, that's just kind of stuff he's into. Let's do it. Uh, number two, Bohemian Rhapsody versus number 15, Dancing Queen.
SPEAKER_05I'm gonna just go ahead and let this be known right now. There is no other group. You have to appreciate this hole. I'm not gonna go into it because I know behavior rhapsody is gonna go a little far, and I'm gonna take my argument. But I'm gonna just say being a rhythm.
SPEAKER_12So here's the thing. Um Like I said, this one's gonna be a hard one for John. It's not gonna be hard. It's not hard for me.
SPEAKER_03It's not hard for me. And then I'll tell you why. I'm gonna tell you why it's not hard for me. Oh my god. Unbelievably easy. Unbelievably easy. Which one are you picking? It's Bohemian Rhapsody.
SPEAKER_08I don't know what you've laughed about this thing.
SPEAKER_03I didn't know he was. Now here's my problem. Did Bohemian Rhapsody come in the second ranked? Yeah. How did you structure that? I'm not even looking at it. Scientifically. So my thing, I'm gonna give one, I'm gonna give a small defense. Defense? What does what where am I? I'm gonna give my defense to Alba. Abba. I'll draw on this rank. Dancing Queen. It people love Dancing Queen. It's a fantastic song. It has a spot. It should have a spot on this, uh it should definitely have a spot on this list. Alright. I think it's seated at a little low. One, two. Abba gave us some of the greatest disco hits of the 70s. Um they gave us that that one musical where they're in Greece. What's that called? I have no idea. I'm not a big Greece fan either. In Greece, not Greece, the show. As uh Meryl Streep was in the movie. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_05Hey, that was around that time. 60s and 70s, it was. But look here, why are you looking for Mamma Mia? Gave us Mamma Mia. Right.
SPEAKER_03That wasn't too bad of a movie. No, it wasn't bad.
SPEAKER_12I've never seen it.
SPEAKER_03It's fantastic. They take all their hits, they put them in the streets. It's a fantastic opera. I'll take your word for it.
SPEAKER_12I don't plan on saying it. What? Why not?
SPEAKER_03I would definitely yeah, it's Meryl Street, bro. It's got the girl with the big separate eyes.
unknownSorry?
SPEAKER_03What's her name? I don't know. She's got the big eyes and they're like on the side of her head. She looks like a bug. She's kinda hot.
SPEAKER_05Oh god. Anybody that sounds like it, how you describe it, does not sound hot.
SPEAKER_03Anyways, anyways, the moral of the story is you know, I've got uh I've got some some some some deep feelings about Bohemian Rhapsody. Uh it's just like every white family, it it means something special to my family. So, um it's not white families though.
SPEAKER_05It's not just white family.
SPEAKER_03Everyone's not everybody touched everybody. It touched everyone. And and here's the and here's the and here's the other thing. Yeah. It's better than dancing queen.
SPEAKER_12Well, keep in mind Queen does have two songs on it. Of course it does.
SPEAKER_03I mean, everyone loves Queen. Alright, let's just move Queen. Let's move on. I I gave a I gave a small defense to Abba.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, well no defense, but Abba, yeah, there's no defense. You just have hate relationship with dancing queen.
SPEAKER_12Alright. Next one. Number three, do not stop believing. Versus chicken friend.
SPEAKER_05Versus who? What?
SPEAKER_12Chicken Fred.
SPEAKER_05Oh wow. So I had to look up Chicken Fry. Oh wow. You had to look up Chicken Fred. Oh, but you know the song, but I do know the song.
SPEAKER_03Where's the girl from? What is she? Where's the boy from? He's gonna be a little bit. Where's the boy from? Where's he where's he from? Where's he going?
SPEAKER_12Sound out to Johnny. I do love I do love this song, but I can no longer listen to it without without picturing that Family Guy episode. Okay. Where they all start singing in the bar, like, oh my god, random people singing their journey.
SPEAKER_00Go bear out the round.
SPEAKER_12Alright, for the record. For the record. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_05Go ahead.
SPEAKER_12These songs are so infectious. Yeah. That Wood was just dancing to Chicken Friday. I was thinking of it. It's a good song.
SPEAKER_05It's a legitimately good song. Absolutely. It's a good song. And I didn't even know who sung it until now. His name is Jack Brown. Zach Brown. Zach Brown. Zach Brown. Jack Brown. Well, not Jack Brown. It was Zach Brown. But I heard him, somebody broke his name up again, and I I listened to one of his songs. I was like, no, I don't like it until I looked him up again. And I was like, wow, this person sings chicken fry. Okay, cool. Every bar I go to is actually chicken fry that's on it.
SPEAKER_12His concerts? Amazing. I'm sure. I'm pretty sure he puts on a great show.
SPEAKER_05I wouldn't imagine he puts a good artist show.
SPEAKER_03I cannot deny that. I'm sure the whole band does a good job.
SPEAKER_05But we are still Journey. You just can't beat Journey.
SPEAKER_03You can't beat Journey. The topic is music that gets white people crunk. And to be honest, don't stop believing. How it's not the one seed is beyond me.
SPEAKER_12Thank you. Like I said, it was done very scientifically.
SPEAKER_03Scientifically. I just uh I just I can't I can't not imagine don't stop believing just not making out of the first round. It doesn't matter what song goes against. And even I mean it's a tough that's a tough heart that's a that's a tough 14 seed to go against. Yeah. It really is. It really is. It really is. Because I mean, honestly, if you're under actually everybody loves chicken fried. It's been it's been the song of a decade for 10 years. Or obviously the song of a decade for 10 years. That's a dumb thing to say. It's been the song. Well, you're pretty much shooting par now. Absolutely. I mean, it's it's just been it's been the song. It's been the beer drinking, hanging on the back porch, have a little fire going, a little chicken fried. Absolutely. Absolutely. You ever eat fried chicken while listening to chicken fried while having a beer on a Friday night? I never did that.
SPEAKER_12With a pair of jeans, just right.
SPEAKER_03Listen, my jeans fit just right after this. We're getting some. And a woman's love. And a woman's love. I'm telling you right now, the song wants the fried chicken in my shops.
SPEAKER_05You know what I'm saying? If we had a list.
SPEAKER_03Are we going to turn into one of those podcasts now?
SPEAKER_05If we had a list. No, I'm just saying, if we had a list, you say, God, have you ever had this? You'd be like, God damn it, I wish I had a woman with this.
SPEAKER_03You go down the list and be like, guys, have you ever had a guys? Have you ever had a cold beard on Friday night? Yeah, I should have had one of those. A pair of jeans that fit is right. Fuck yes. Absolutely. Have you ever had a woman's love?
unknownDamn. Damn it.
SPEAKER_03Damn it.
SPEAKER_05That's just the one thing I'm missing right now.
SPEAKER_03I thought you were about to say some Andrew Cate shit right now. I thought you were about to go. And you because you're not getting you know you're not getting woman's love because you're not a high value man. I mean, you're not wrong. The only people that just that that get unconditional love are women and children. Men are just blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I don't know. That's just victim shit. That's still the strongest.
SPEAKER_12It sounds like you listen to them pretty What?
SPEAKER_03That's still the truth. For some reason, I just it comes across my algorithm. It makes me so mad.
SPEAKER_11Like I'm listening to like these, like grown up, I'm listening to these grown men complain. It's called an algorithm for a reason.
SPEAKER_03No, but I was like, you listen to these grown men complain about not being loved, and it's like maybe if you stop bitching so much, someone would love you. I don't like I mean, Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_12I mean, how do you deal with it when no one loving you?
SPEAKER_05We don't know, do you? But we're gonna love these songs, though.
SPEAKER_03I'm sorry. Oh no. Is it some type of way off topic there?
SPEAKER_05All right, all right. I sound like you got way off topic. Yeah, we were Disney. My bad, my bad. That's how I mean to you.
SPEAKER_11We were going for the rap. We were going for the rap. It was a pretty decent ride. Number four. Emotionally.
SPEAKER_12Sweet Home Alabama. John's probably a favorite song. Because Alabama. Oh no.
SPEAKER_05It's one song that I'm waiting for. It's really one song I'm waiting for for you.
SPEAKER_12What is that?
SPEAKER_03No words. No words. Okay, no words at the end.
SPEAKER_12That's my biggest problem with the song because you're you're ready to go and you're ready to go. Fast up. And it takes so long to get to that. That's a really long time. What's the rank? What's the rank? Uh 13. It's a 13 seed. It's a 13 seed. What was we home about?
SPEAKER_05Yo, that's about this is about to be an upset. I don't care. I don't care. This is about to be an upset. Really? So you're that confident.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna need you to get a really good defense of Eye the Tiger.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Are you serious?
SPEAKER_03I'm dead serious.
SPEAKER_05The reactions y'all just did towards Sweet Home, Alabama to Eye the Tiger was really out, out, out of it, like out to be honest. You're not wrong on that. And then I guess the topic is the topic is wet people crunk. And y'all was more crunked. Music to get white people turned. And y'all was more turtled.
SPEAKER_03And if we're drinking, if we had a tiger, y'all was actually being the drummers. Yeah, we start driving away.
SPEAKER_05Now I'm not gonna hold it against Leonard Skinner. I love Leonard Skinner. Who? Leonard Skinner.
SPEAKER_03Leonard Skinner.
SPEAKER_05Leonard Skinner?
SPEAKER_03Leonard Skinner. You got real stuff in it. You got real stuff in there. Leonard Skinner. Leonard Skinner. Play Free Bird. Free Bird!
SPEAKER_02I'm not you. I have to imagine by Jesus.
SPEAKER_03I like to imagine Jesus in a tuxedo t-shirt. Freebird one on here. Right in front of the role of a Leonard Skinner concert. And we're just hammered. Hammer drunk. Screaming play Freebird.
SPEAKER_05I'm not gonna knock Leonard Skinner. I'm not. I love Leonard Skinner. But the way y'all just acted on I had a tiger, it got y'all crunk.
SPEAKER_12Just now. But it also infuriated us a little bit that it took so long to start singing the song.
SPEAKER_03No, it did. It did. I mean, it's a long intro, but I it is here's I hate to do this. I mean, music that gets white people turned in there is something about Sweet Home Alabama. There is definitely something about Sweet Home Alabama. It really is.
SPEAKER_12Look, Sweet Home Alabama made Alabama change their state slogan to Sweet Home Alabama. That's understandable.
SPEAKER_03They changed a whole state slogan. That's understandable. In like the whitest state, too. And the whitest state. Well, no, I mean technically that's like it's technically not the white estate. Vermont is the whitest state, technically.
SPEAKER_05Oh no, no, yeah, you're right.
SPEAKER_03It's still the South.
SPEAKER_05There's a lot of diversity in the South. Yeah. But just going off that alone, I'm gonna just go with Eye of the Tiger. Just to see y'all's reactions. John, I'm going with Sweet Home Alabama. You're gonna be the tiebreaker. I'm so serious. Like I was about to I was about to talk shit. Literally, I was about to talk shit about Eye of the Tiger. Yeah. Until we heard it. And I was like, okay, I'm gonna be honest too.
SPEAKER_03If I'm working out, Eye of the Tiger is like the classic workout song.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, but this isn't this isn't workout song. No, this is like the get turned. Music that gets my blood pressure. These are songs where you're in the bar? Yes. You're you're like five or ten whiskeys in.
SPEAKER_03No, see, no, no, no. So it's it's music that get us turnt. Turnt raising my blood pressure, getting me stoked, getting me wanting to move, get me excited.
SPEAKER_05And you was moving.
SPEAKER_03And you were moving. No, no, no, I'm not saying Sweet Home Alabama ain't a fun single song. Because it is. It is. No, it's a fun single long song. Sweet home Alabama's a fun single long song. I'm not saying it's not. Pretty drunk comes on. You hear that come on. Turn it up.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I'm not listening I'm not saying sitting on the back porch, getting absolutely hammered. Leonard Skinner comes on. I'm listening I was born, I was, I was raised, I'm not born up, but I was raised in North Carolina. I know what that I know what that feels like. All right. The lesser of Carolinas?
SPEAKER_05I'm as well saying Bayeville was full of reception, huh?
SPEAKER_12I mean, he is from Bayetteville.
SPEAKER_03You know, you both are trying to get me to side with both of you here. No, but no, I won't just. I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go. My gut is telling me I'm gonna go with Eye of the Tiger on this one. That's gonna be the first upside. First upstairs? That's a pretty drastic example.
SPEAKER_1213 beating a number four.
SPEAKER_03I mean, that's that's pretty drastic. That's the first time that our uh scientific method has not worked out. Scientifically.
unknownScientifically.
SPEAKER_03That's crazy. That was that's a early that's an early offer of four seed.
SPEAKER_05Literally, fellas. Literally. And this debate, anything is possible.
SPEAKER_03Anything is possible. What's up?
SPEAKER_05I was literally about to come talk to you about Iron Time. Yeah. Because before we even play the song. We'll save it for the next round. Because you don't know you don't know what's coming up. You don't know what's coming up?
SPEAKER_12All right. Coming in at number five.
SPEAKER_05That's all it's going to be. Oh, that's that's done. That's done. That's done. That's done. That's done. Shot through the heart.
SPEAKER_12Overcountry roads. Are you serious?
SPEAKER_05Are you serious right now?
SPEAKER_03Actually, I think it's you can give a love a bad name by Bonjoffe. It's actually not shot through the heart.
SPEAKER_12But the point being is we'll get you cross. It catches you at the very beginning.
SPEAKER_03Honestly, it is Country Roads takes you all the way through. You give love a bad name, you give You Give Love a Bad Name is one of the best intros to Manny's song.
SPEAKER_12It is. It is a fantastic intro.
SPEAKER_03I understand it's a Bon Jovi song. But if we're gonna, first of all, what's the what's the other Bon Jovi song? Everybody knows Country Roads. Living on a Prayer? Yeah, Living on a Prayer is a much better Bon Jovi song. 100%. Yeah. 100%.
SPEAKER_11You know Bon Jones.
SPEAKER_12How it did not make this list.
SPEAKER_03I'm not saying he's not. You know who else it is? Mr. John Denver.
SPEAKER_05John Denver. You know on Country Roads? Yeah. The only part that people know. Yeah. Country Road. Yeah. Take me home to the place. I just want to put it in the past. I belong to West Virginia. Absolutely. Mountain Mama. Yeah. Take me home. Yeah. Country Road. Yeah. After that, nobody knows the rest of the song. That's not true. Yes. Well, I'm singing it. We all know it. Yeah, we know. Oh, I'm going to go.
SPEAKER_11Whoa. Whoa. Wow.
SPEAKER_03It's white people.
SPEAKER_12They chose the song.
SPEAKER_03Hey, why can't Thompson leave Snowboard?
SPEAKER_12Because he's from South Carolina. We went over this. He's from South Carolina.
SPEAKER_03There's no snow in South Carolina. That will be my question every time Eric says something suspect. Why can't Thompson leave me? Snowboard.
SPEAKER_11I told you.
SPEAKER_03Why don't you think he belongs on Johnny Tsunami?
SPEAKER_05But giving the love a bad name as a Bon Jovi song literally, I think, is way better than Country Road. So I'm going Country Road. I know you probably wrong. I know you're going Country Road. As a matter of fact, just go ahead and say Country Road because that's John's favorite. It is one of my favorite songs. It is one of my favorite songs.
SPEAKER_03Hey, I mean, how many Saturday nights we spent closing listening to that? I mean, that was like that was like, hey, that's the closest side. That's not even a good thing.
SPEAKER_05I don't remember hearing uh you give love a bad name when we closed. No. It's not the one we closed. It's like during when we have a busy day and we want to calm down. That's the song we put on. As me saying, let me say this again. As we calm down. That's a solid point. As we come, we're comfortable.
SPEAKER_03We're actually like getting right, we're getting like we're getting out of the shift. We're not getting hyped.
SPEAKER_05Exactly. It is the song you listen to as your night closes. I won't say this a pun art, but like, you know. That's not a turnt song. It is. I don't think it is. I think it's a good like what John say about singing. Because it gets everyone gets a good single.
SPEAKER_03It gets everyone involved. Yeah, I'm gonna go country ruts. Habituous. I'm going country ruts. Oh, you so you almost had me.
SPEAKER_12Not gonna lie, you almost had on that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you almost had me.
SPEAKER_08Oh my god!
SPEAKER_05Alright. Let's go. Let's go. Alright. I'll take that loss. I'll take that loss.
SPEAKER_12This next one coming in at six. Even though I was judging on how I said it, this is how we do it. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_05This is how we do it. You don't understand you say it like this.
SPEAKER_03I didn't want to stick up the five seconds of the flock.
SPEAKER_12I think he works as number ten. American pieces. Oh well that was on. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So I think this is this is this is the problem that we're running into, right?
SPEAKER_05Go ahead and say it, because I'm gonna say it. We're running into sing alongs versus getting turned. Thank you. Because honestly, this is this is thank you.
SPEAKER_12This is American Pie starts off slow. Oh but then once it hits that second verse.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but it is a sing along. It doesn't give me turn. It doesn't give me a turn. You know what does give me a turn? If I'm setting the bar, this is how we do it. What? Shots. Shots.
SPEAKER_05No, I'm gonna say this about American Pie. I'm gonna turn it a little. Shots! Shots. Have you ever seen DC The Watcher? The Watch. Um with uh The Watchman? The Watchman. The Watchman. Now, for the fight scene, they turn on American Pie. But what they what people don't realize isn't slow motion. So it is not like a turn scene. It's like, oh my god, let me see this somebody get their teeth knocked out in slow motion. Not really turned on.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna side. I'm but it's a good song. What? No, that was uh I'm gonna side with uh Mr. uh Mr. Brown over here because it's one of those things where I you know we've we've been going back and forth between like crunk songs and we've been going back and forth between um crunching you know and sing-alongs, and I'm gonna be honest with you.
SPEAKER_12Um But aren't aren't sing alongs well get people turned?
SPEAKER_03100% I don't know. In this in certain circumstances, absolutely. That's why I think that uh Bohemian Rhapsody does both, right? But I in this instance, I'm thinking this is how we do it takes it easily. Absolutely, and that's why they're ranked so high. I'm thinking this is how we do it definitely knocks out American Pie. Easily at number six.
SPEAKER_05Easily that's why we ranked it at number six. This is how we do it. And that is uh our our charts are scientifically. Scientifically. Thank you. Try to turn down my black. Alright, what's what's the next one?
SPEAKER_12Freaking song. Next bracket. Yeah. Coming in at number seven. Yeah. Sweet Caroline. Sweet Caroline. Would they play in Boston? Every seventh inning? They play in bars just to get everybody into it?
SPEAKER_01Where it began. But then I know it's growing strong.
SPEAKER_12Under pressure.
SPEAKER_05Which oh my god.
SPEAKER_12So oh my okay. Uh it's the issue with this one is and this is personally for me. Yeah. Is when that song starts. Right? Because you have that mini panic attack because you're like, oh shit, under pressure's coming on, and then you hear, then you hear the vanilla ice stop. Recognize it. Stop. You know, you're just like, oh actually, you got me.
SPEAKER_03Vanilla Ice stole it from Queen. That's what I'm saying. He got me.
SPEAKER_12And that that that I have that mini panic attack, like, which one am I hearing real quick?
SPEAKER_03You're gonna let Vanilla Ice ruin a great song for you.
SPEAKER_05You're gonna let Vanilla Ice actually make a judgment call on this song. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Oh my gosh. Best rapper of all time. So here's the thing. Here's the thing. Before I before I'm I'm not gonna beat up under pressure. I'm not gonna beat up. This is I'm not gonna beat up under pressure in this, but I because I like under pressure, right? Oh, it's one of my favorite songs. It's a fantastic song. I'm going to boost up, because we don't tear people down around here, we boost people up, right? I'm gonna boost up Sweet Caroline as to why it makes a better song for getting white people turned. They played in they played in Boston. They do play it in Panther games after we win. If you guys win. You know what? It happens. It's happened before when we win home games. It's far and few between. We won one this year. We won a home game this year.
SPEAKER_12I mean, not enough to keep Matt rule, but yeah.
SPEAKER_03No, but I'm saying like they play him after Carolina victories. He's not a guy. But that's a whole other subject.
SPEAKER_12He's not the guy.
SPEAKER_03He's not the guy. He's not the guy.
SPEAKER_12I told you that three years ago. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_03Alright. Well, tell that to Carson Witz, okay? Oh, I've already said that. Yeah. All right. I gotta take it off a commie fan. Anyways, Sweet Caroline is played as soon as it's played. It definitely crosses that threshold that we talked about Bohemian Rhapsody, that we talked about Don't Stop Believing. When you talk about Sweet Caroline, it is a sing-along, it is a turret song. People know it, they love it, they get into it, it's a call and response. It literally has all of the attributes needed, right, to make a fantastic song that gets everyone in the place on their feet dancing and singing. Sweet Caroline for the Victory.
SPEAKER_11Because once you get once you get once you get that first Sweet Claire Line, you hear that bah bah.
SPEAKER_03Easy, so good, so good. Underpressure has none of that. It's fantastic, it has a fantastic song. Right? It gets you going. Nothing like Sweet Caroline. Full full stop.
SPEAKER_12See, here's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna go ahead and go with Underpressure because it's one of my favorite songs. But I don't think Wood has been on the spot enough. So I'm gonna put him on the spot. I appreciate it.
SPEAKER_05This was a hard decision for me. Because when I heard Sweet Caroline, I got hyped. I really did. Like I because I know I work in restaurants. I've been in so many restaurants, it's like when you had bars, that's all you hear is Sweet Carolina and Especially in North Carolina. They do it a lot in North Carolina. Like that's all you hear, and you see people get crunked. I don't want to be biased and just choose under pressure because I love the song. I really do. It really gets me to that hype mood and then actually.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna put it on my workout playlist.
SPEAKER_05Like literally, it mellows me out. It mellows me out after a while. Like it don't keep me at that point.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, it gets me there.
SPEAKER_05No, I'm talking about uh under pressure. It gets you there, but it don't keep you there when you actually listen to it. And I disagree, but now if you keep on saying under pressure, and you're just that first, like that first, you hear it, the beat is what keeps get you. Not the lyrics, not anything else, because it's the beat. But it's the beat, it's the beat and the lyrics. Collaborating must say it's the beat and the lyrics what gets you for sweet Caroline. And I'm not gonna lie to you, I hate to do it, but I'm going with Sweet Caroline.
SPEAKER_11Sweet Caroline for the win.
SPEAKER_12Alright, no, only one upset so far. Alright. Only one upset. This one is gonna be hard. It's a solid eight and nine.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I love eight. This is guys, you guys know this is my favorite matchup, always.
SPEAKER_12Always. Always.
SPEAKER_03Eight nine C is always my favorite.
SPEAKER_12And I think uh Terry Cruz would, you know, appreciate this with uh a thousand miles. Classic Rocket Man. And he's now back on the top with British peers. Alright, so the problem with these two songs.
SPEAKER_03This is why they're eight nineteen. This is why they're an eight nineteen.
SPEAKER_12It's not even they're not hard for they're pretty much sing along songs. So if we're going by that criteria, you guys have been doing out there.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, absolutely. They're both they're both sing alongs. They both get every one turn.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I'm just gonna go ahead and say this that Rocky Man is both. It's a sing along and a turn. That's true. Yeah, so it's uh thousand miles. Thousand miles is nothing.
SPEAKER_03A thousand miles after here's the thing. After the first chorus, it's it. After the first verse? After you get past the Terry Cruz part singing and white chicks, that's it. Is it?
SPEAKER_12So that's it's that Yeah, but that how much did that introduce to everybody?
SPEAKER_03Vanessa Carlton? I I would not know her name if it wasn't for Terry Cruz.
SPEAKER_05I wouldn't know her name. Literally, I loved it. I I knew the song before Terry Cruz. No, you did not? Yes, I did. You did not. I date white girls. Yes, I did. You were seven?
SPEAKER_03White chicks came out. We were seven years old when white chicks came out.
SPEAKER_11No, it didn't. No, it didn't. High school.
SPEAKER_03No. What are you talking about? It came out like it came out like 98-99.
SPEAKER_11No. No.
SPEAKER_03Early 2000s? No. Jamie, Jamie, Jeremy, pull that up.
SPEAKER_05Jamie James. Jimmy Chicks dance with it.
SPEAKER_12Jamie.
SPEAKER_03No, that can't be static. We need a stat guy here. That's what we really need on staff. That's what we need on staff. We need a producer, stat. Yeah, because I got me put in my 2004. 2004? Thank you.
SPEAKER_12So we were you and I were freshmen.
SPEAKER_03First of all, you were six. I guess you were like 18 years old in 2004, weren't you?
SPEAKER_05You are an old man. Didn't you say you were 44 on the last podcast? Stop lying about your age.
SPEAKER_03No, but you I mean you were I mean full full.
SPEAKER_052004, I was 15.
SPEAKER_03No, I was 15.
SPEAKER_05Literally, I was 15 to 19.
SPEAKER_03No, you were turning 17.
SPEAKER_05No, 2004? I was 15, sir.
SPEAKER_03I was 15.
SPEAKER_05Sir, I was entering high school.
SPEAKER_03I was turning oh no, I was turning fifteen. No. 2004? Yes, I was turning. I was turning 15. I turned 15 that year.
SPEAKER_12I was already 15.
SPEAKER_03So you turned 16 in October.
SPEAKER_12We were finishing eighth grade going into ninth grade. I was I was 15, but I was turning 16 in 19.
SPEAKER_03You turned 16. You turned 16 in October. Yeah, because I turned 15 in October. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Because I'm thinking about the school year now. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I guess 16 you were dating.
SPEAKER_12Yep.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Well, I'm gonna go with a thousand miles.
SPEAKER_03So I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go listen. I'm gonna go with Sir Elton John. Sir Elton John. And I'm gonna put Rock and go Rock Man. Rocket Man.
SPEAKER_05Alright. Yeah, because it that was nice.
SPEAKER_12I don't know if that's considered an upset with a nine being an eight. That was not easy.
SPEAKER_03A nine seeds are always toss-ups. Yeah. Alright.
SPEAKER_12Next round.
SPEAKER_03Was it was who was the nine seed though?
SPEAKER_12Nine seed was Rocket Man. Oh, was it? Okay, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_05I thought a little respect.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, just by one, though.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it was still, it was high.
SPEAKER_12I mean, yeah. Look, we don't question the science here. Science. Next round. We have the number one seed, Friends in Low Places. Going against Country Roads at the number five seed.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I'm not gonna play the music anymore because we all wear. Obviously, Country Roads had a hard time getting here. It did not, we discussed later, it did not make the requirements to get white people turned. This is pretty cut, pretty cut dry. Again, the one seed is showing up, smacking around. Just smack. I mean, it is I mean just the one seed is showing up, smacking, you know, laying his dick out, just smacking things around. Just like Tom's. You know, like this isn't even a discussion. Honestly, that one seed sitting there going, like, why am I not in the why am I not in the final four already? Yeah, why do I have to mess with this?
SPEAKER_05That's pretty much what it is.
SPEAKER_03Just wasting my honestly, the only thing you can do at this point is injure one of my star players. Like uh, I'm playing the bench. Yeah.
SPEAKER_12That's absolutely well that that's an easy one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. There's no discussion needed.
SPEAKER_12Alright. Bohemian Rhapsody at number two, going against number six. This is how we do it. Bohemian Rhapsody.
SPEAKER_05Quick as hell. Really? I am not playing about that. We were talking about Monteo Jordan versus Queen. This is how we do it. Are you serious right now?
SPEAKER_03No, no, we're not talking about Monteo Jordan versus Queen. We're talking about this is how we do it versus Bohemian Rhapsody.
SPEAKER_05This is how we do it versus Bohemian Rhapsody that touched every every person.
SPEAKER_12Maybe he should have stopped touching people. I can't stop touching people.
SPEAKER_05Who's touching people? Who's touching people? I'm rubbing his hand right now. Are you making a touch? Freddie Mercury? Is it too soon? Is it too soon to make a Freddie Mercury joke? Freddie Mercury is. He bet not be making a Freddie Mercury joke. Is that too soon? Wow. Too soon. Wow. Too soon, bro. There's things we don't joke about. You won't joke about that. Freddie Mercury, Jeff K's too soon.
SPEAKER_03What about the Queen? And then No, of course you can make fun of the Queen. She's English. You bet not. Freddie Mercury's English too, isn't he? Yes. He's English. Yeah, but he was like a he's an icon. He's an icon. Yeah, the queen the queen is just a a leftover relic of, you know, Britain's colonizing past.
SPEAKER_11Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Just uh, you know, another just a model. Who we uh just you know we beat back in 1776 and you know, a country that we had to save twice because it couldn't handle their business. You know what I mean? No big deal.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Did y'all really think I was going to go with This Is How You Do It?
SPEAKER_03No. Well, you think we just go because you're black, you can go with the black guy? That's not cool, bro. Wow. Wow. How little respect do you have for us?
SPEAKER_05How dare y'all?
SPEAKER_03How dare you?
SPEAKER_05No. How dare y'all look at it? Matter of fact, wait, rewind the tape. Really? Y'all should have taken a special chance.
SPEAKER_03I was hoping for the video. There ain't no challenge here, bro. No.
SPEAKER_05I said that.
SPEAKER_03I was thought I honestly thought you were to come to a minor defense, but I didn't feel like that.
SPEAKER_11No. Just a minor defense. I was more surprised at how fast you you said it.
SPEAKER_03Just a small defense.
SPEAKER_05These are great songs. These are all great songs.
SPEAKER_03At this point in time, we're talking we're talking the cream of the crap. Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Sorry to upset you, sir. My bad. How dare you? Sorry. I apologize.
unknownSorry.
SPEAKER_12Alright. Next. The number three seed. Don't stop believing. Versus number seven, sweet Caroline.
SPEAKER_03Oh, this is the hardest one we had since.
SPEAKER_12This is the hardest one. The hardest one. Wow.
SPEAKER_05Wow. I'm gonna go less. You're gonna go less. I don't know what to pick. No, I need someone to persuade me. Let's go ahead and do this. Yeah. So I need this broken down. And just don't stop believing. It's a beautiful song. Good song. So whole story. You know and this whole story was based off of uh Jonathan Cain and he had the title. Did you Google this shit beforehand? It's a good song. I like it. I like it. So um it was introduced by Jonathan Kane. His father told him not to throw it away because he was a struggling artist and he thought everybody didn't believe in him at all. So when he came up with the name, Don't Don't Stop Believing, the song don't even say Don't Stop Believing until the last part of the song. Yeah. It has two courses and then the last part of the song. Really? There's a whole story before you even get to know Don't Stop Believing.
SPEAKER_12Really?
SPEAKER_03I mean it's got a good message.
SPEAKER_12Jamie, Jeremy, Jeremy, look that up.
SPEAKER_07Look at the lyrics left, Jamie. It gives you hype.
SPEAKER_05It gives you hype and it's inspirational. Every everybody in this country wants to have an inspirational song. Wow. He went really deep on that. I did. Wow. You did.
SPEAKER_03I feel, yeah. I'm taken back.
SPEAKER_12Broken clocks right twice a day.
SPEAKER_03I mean, as much as I want Sweet Caroline to get to the next one.
SPEAKER_12I think that sold me. Like that was a good idea.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you kind of sold me. I mean, but here's the thing about Sweet Caroline, too.
SPEAKER_12How dry is that well right now?
SPEAKER_03Oh, it's not dry at all. So here the thing about Sweet Caroline is that you, like you said in the last in the last round, you put on any bar, you put it Sweet Caroline at any bar, and it and people just lose their effing minds. Along with Don't Stop Believing. Along with Don't Stop Believing. I'm gonna go with Don't Stop Believing.
SPEAKER_12That's gonna be an epic Final Four. That's gonna be a hard one. Okay, what's an extra? The number 13 seed, Eye of the Tiger. Versus number nine, Rocket Man. I'm going Rocket Man. I I look, the intro is still too long for me.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. So the only reason I'm gonna say Rocket Man is because it's a it's sing it it hits the criteria.
SPEAKER_03It's a sing-along and it gets turned. Yeah, and Rye the Tiger's not a sing along.
SPEAKER_05I the Tiger just doesn't get you where you need to be. No, it doesn't.
SPEAKER_03No, Rocketman hits a spot. The first verse is a sing-along. Yeah, but no, no, no.
SPEAKER_12Because once you once you do the rising up back on the street. Do you know what I think about everything?
SPEAKER_05But once you get past that, what do you think of? Beverly Heroes Ninja.
SPEAKER_12I think of the Show.
SPEAKER_03You think of Chris Farley? Hey, speaking of Beverly Hills Ninja, you know they're doing a Beverly Hills, they're doing a Beverly Hills Cop 4?
SPEAKER_05No.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Axel Foley's coming back. Woo! Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Oh shoot.
SPEAKER_03I had a question asked someone asked me the other day. They were like, Do you think Eddie Murphy's a great actor? I said, Axel fucking Foley. What? Yes, absolutely. And then everyone saw that there was a bunch of kids around me and they were like his money. They were like, a bunch of kids around my mind. They were like, uh, well, yeah, what about like, you know, Dr. Doolittle? They were they brought up Daddy Daycare. Daddy Daycare, and I'm like, what? Have you Boomerang? Right? That what's the movie with Dan Aykroyd? Him and Dan Aykroyd, where is it? Cena Weevil? Training places. Training places? Training places. Cena Evil is a good thing. That's Eddie Murphy. That's uh Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder. Yeah. The other black guy. But I'm talking, I'm stuck.
SPEAKER_05I'm saying Boomerang. Hold on. Right? Train Places. Two stand-ups. Two stand-ups. Two stand-ups. Maybe more. Coming to America? Yeah. And you're going to tell me any of the Eddie's got a good act? Get the fuck out of here.
SPEAKER_12The second one wasn't that great. What? Coming to America too? Of course it would.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but that's not the point of the point. You tell me what to make. In the 80s, you're talking about 80s moving on.
SPEAKER_12But Beverly Hills. But Beverly Hills cop 4. My expectation for it.
SPEAKER_03Beverly Hills cop 4. I think the guys that I know the older cop died, the older white cop. I think the younger white cop's dead too. I don't think he's the actor. I don't think the actor's left.
SPEAKER_05That's like Will Smith and Martin Lawrence doing another uh Bad Boys. They did. I didn't watch it. I didn't watch it at all.
SPEAKER_03Was it Bad Boys 3?
SPEAKER_05Was it? Yeah, I think it was three. It was Bad Boys 3. I didn't watch it. No, yeah. I I've watched it, but it wasn't that really. Yeah, I didn't think expected to be.
SPEAKER_03I mean, it was a bunch of nostalgia. That's all it's probably a joke about. Probably a joke about Martin Lawrence's daughter getting married or having a boyfriend and something like that. Yeah. There you go. Real big chase dramatic scene.
SPEAKER_05Will Smith does his uh catchphrase, oh hell no. Yeah, yeah. Who Will Smith has a son? Yeah, on the on the Bad Boys. Okay. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, Gabrielle Union?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_03Oh, he had a different girl this time. Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Former girl. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03Alright.
SPEAKER_05But yeah, Eddie Murphy's a good. So Rocketman, Rocket Man. My bad. Absolutely. Rocket Man. Go on Rocket Man. Rocket Man.
SPEAKER_03You say he said Beverly Hills Ninja, and I'm like, bro, I had a whole conversation the other day. Literally, bro. Beverly Hills Ninja.
SPEAKER_05That's the only time I think about how to tiger sometimes. Okay. The final four.
SPEAKER_03Final four.
SPEAKER_12With no upsets in the final four. None? No. You have number one, Friends in Little Places, going against number three, Don't Stop Believing. And number two, going against Rap said he's going against number nine, Rocket Man.
SPEAKER_05I can be out there, but uh it's not a good one.
SPEAKER_12Rocket Man had the easiest road to the final four. No, Friends in Low Places had the easiest road.
SPEAKER_05Friends in Low Places had the easiest road.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah. I mean it's Friends in Low Places versus Who. Well, it's the number one seed.
SPEAKER_12Friends in Low Places versus Who? Don't Stop Believing.
SPEAKER_03Oh no. No. Okay. So one person. Alright, but we gotta think about this. We gotta think about this logic. It's a one versus a three. No, I know, but this is Don't Stop Believing versus Friends and Low Places. Friends in Low Places. Because honestly, nobody had an argument. Personally for me, this is the this is the championship round. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05That's personally for you, right?
SPEAKER_03Personally for me, this is the championship round. I think this is the best two songs on the board.
SPEAKER_12I'm a huge Garth Brooks fan. Let that be known.
SPEAKER_03Bro, had a fantastic time at that content. Oh, a fantastic time. Fantastic. It's uh life training experience.
SPEAKER_12Let's let's Garth Brooks barely sang Friends in Low Places. The whole stadium. Stadium full of people.
SPEAKER_11Insane.
SPEAKER_12Sang it. Right. Insane. Journey sings Don't Stop Believing. They're still singing a song along with the fans.
SPEAKER_03I'm sure you and Journey's Defense, I'm sure you can find your clips of them like just having the starting thing. Stadium. I mean, not since 1987. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05That is so. That's true. Okay. Okay, I get you. That's true. I get you that one.
SPEAKER_03Garth Brooks has been doing this for 30 years. On top. On top. Journey. Journey's not outselling Bank of America. They barely spell out Spectrum when they come into town. Exactly. They actually have to tour with like three other bands. Exactly. That's God. You hate to see it happen, but that's you just made a fantastic. That is a fantastic one. Fantastic, yeah, absolutely. Yeah, we all love Don't Stop Believing, but Friends in Low Places is made by is made by a man who made this song. I mean, that song's 30 years old, easily 30 years old. And he is selling out not only did he sell out Bank of America, he sold it out so quickly they had to open up another show for the next night, and he sold out the stadium two nights in a row.
SPEAKER_12And he also sold so many tickets in Ireland that he had to do four shows. Four shows in Ireland.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, obviously it's yeah, Friends of Little Places.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, because I can't really I can't really argue on that one. Because I'll be arguing on a 1987 song.
SPEAKER_03Honestly, I really hate I really wish you would have saved that argument for the next one.
SPEAKER_05I have another one. I really couldn't, because y'all both was gonna go with Su Kelly.
SPEAKER_12I will I I was up for debate, but you you sold it, you you I was 50-50. I was fifty-fifty. I just couldn't do it. Alright, so the number two Bohemian Rhapsody versus Rocket Man? I don't know why we're debating this one. We obviously know Bohemian Rhapsody.
SPEAKER_05But Rocket Man barely made it through. I don't think it barely made it through. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so here's here's here's here's uh Bohemian Rhapsody.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05Bohemian Rhapsody. Hands down.
SPEAKER_03Hands down. Hands down. Listen, we have a family sing a long time in the car. It's like a thing we do as a family. I think every family has a family sing a long time in their car, right? That's a normal, that's a normal thing for most families to do. I'm gonna tell you this right now. That 2004 Dodge Caravan, those speakers got blown out. Someone hook that ox cord up in Bohemia. Or no, no, it's a CD. Put that CD in Bohemia's World. Queen's greatest hits into that Dodge Caravan. Point's World. No joke, the transmission went out of it. I don't think maybe it was because of how of how turnt we got in that Dodge Caravan on our way back to the city.
SPEAKER_12I don't think it was.
SPEAKER_03I think it was just uh Oh, it's a sh- I mean Dodges make shitty minivans. Hey, listen, when when that shit hit the bricks and we had to buy we had to buy the 06 Toyota Highlander, speakers got blown out of that. Bohemian Rhapsody got the speakers in that one too. It's uh it's definitely a uh a deep emotional connection to that song, and I think a lot of people have a very similar connection to that song. Uh Bohemian Rhapsody. Listen, and again, I am not going to disparage Sir Elton John. And you're right, I say Sir because he is he is a knight, and I will put it.
SPEAKER_12It is British, and you're supposed to be an American, so I'm gonna put some respect in the man's name, right?
SPEAKER_03Just like a doctor. You red coat Elton John. You red coat. Sir Elton John. You're Elton John. You can say what you want about the queen, you can say what you want about the sis the colonial system. But what you will not do is you will respect Elton John. Sir Elton John, excuse me. You will not disparage that man. He may have lost this round, but you will not disparage him.
SPEAKER_12Pretty handedly, he it wasn't even close.
SPEAKER_05So I want to hit his argument. Go ahead for the first time.
SPEAKER_12So the final is number one, Friends of No Places, and number two, Bohemian Rhapsody.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Okay. I want to hit his argument with you.
SPEAKER_12You want to hear my argument?
SPEAKER_03I will say this. Hold on. Yet again, the the method in which we ranked everything, the super scientific way we ranked everything. Scientifically. Really did a good job on this one. Yeah, one and two. I mean one and two.
SPEAKER_05She really did. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03We got some good discussions. Uh got some good. I think we got some good content. Got some silent debate. Yeah. But let's let's hear this last.
SPEAKER_12What let's hear this last one?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Let's hear your last Friends in Low Places.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_12Is one of the few songs in American history that was been submitted into the Library of Congress.
unknownOh no.
SPEAKER_12You know what's not? Bohemian Rhapsody. Well, it's it's not anything. Garth Brooks is such a American song.
SPEAKER_03It's not, it's not a they're English.
SPEAKER_12Yeah, they're. So I think they're I think the Beatles are in there.
SPEAKER_03Oh, are they?
SPEAKER_12Maybe I don't know. See? Jamie, this is what Jamie. Jamie, this is why we need Jamie. But it does not, it does not take away from the impact that this song is so iconic in American history, American culture, that it has to go in to the Library of Congress.
SPEAKER_03I really wish you would have used this one. A for this argument. I really wish you would have used this argument for the last round. The last round's argument for this one. But it's okay. It doesn't. No, no, go ahead. It looks like I'm gonna be the deciding vote because I honestly had a hard time. I'm gonna have a hard time with this.
SPEAKER_05So you said Garth Brooks sold out a lot of like places like Bank of America Island. He me and Rap City, Queen, are known, literally known around the world. When they was actually at their peak. But so is Garth Brooks. He's selling stadiums outside of the country.
SPEAKER_12No, this is he sold out in the he sold out in the 90s.
SPEAKER_05Excuse me. I didn't interrupt you.
SPEAKER_12This man's gonna say he's gonna do the whole world. They won't listen to the world argument. This is Garth Brooks. Okay.
SPEAKER_05This is the whole world. Just let me say my argument. Okay, I gotta say your argument. Literally, when they made this song, this song, like you said, Garth Brooks is iconic. This song is iconic everywhere. Everywhere. It is the way they even had to make this song into an orchestra and make it rock. They went to five different places just to record. It took them at least, I think, four months to record this only one song. Okay. And it is the best song in rock and roll right now. Like it is one of it. It's not even one. It is actually on the top list of this song.
SPEAKER_03On the Global 200 billboard, it's still ranked number 97.
SPEAKER_05That's what I'm it is the best song in rock and roll.
SPEAKER_12I think now I think that is more an argument against because Garth Brooks, you don't you don't have that much. And how? It didn't take that much to be that good.
SPEAKER_05Are you serious? All you said was he sold out places. He has somewhere.
SPEAKER_12But okay, but he didn't have a song game in the house. He didn't have to go to five different countries.
SPEAKER_03In 2018, Bohemian Rhapsody peaked at number 33 on the billboard. Not 100.
SPEAKER_05Thank you, bro. Like this is the best year. 2018. 2018. And Freddie and that's when um that's when that's when the movie came out. Yeah, it's the movie. And Freddie Brecken was dead.
SPEAKER_12That's when, I mean, the movie came out.
SPEAKER_05It doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_12No, but the movie. No, yeah, because the movie, people are like, oh, it's Queen, so I'm gonna listen to it. It's like it's like the uh 80s song from uh uh Stranger Things, which barely charted back in the 80s and now is number one.
SPEAKER_05Let's go and put it like this. Everybody everybody knows Queens. Like I said, everybody touched Queen.
SPEAKER_07Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_05Well, every Queen touched everybody in in so many different aspects. Now, we were talking about a white turnt song.
SPEAKER_07Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_05That Queen, that premium rap CD, if you played that anywhere, it'll still get more turnt. Then uh uh uh what's that song again? I forgot.
SPEAKER_12Oh, now see now you're being disrespectful. Now you're being disrespectful of the great Garth Brooks. Alright. What did what did you what what what happened uh during the inauguration? Garth Brooks during COVID was hugging presidents, and he's probably the only person who can get away with something like that? You were talking about the.
SPEAKER_03I would say during the inauguration. You're just Garth Brooks.
SPEAKER_05He is still alive to do things. Garth Garth Brooklyn. You're talking about a song, not the man.
SPEAKER_03Both both shook the hand of former Vice President Pence and also dabbed up, literally dabbed up Barack Obama and former President Obama and former President Clinton.
SPEAKER_12During COVID. During COVID.
SPEAKER_11No mask. During COVID, no mask.
SPEAKER_05The song, not the man. So here's here's the thing. See, but you keep you keep saying Queen touched people. But but I'm talking about the song.
SPEAKER_12See, but you your your thing was your your argument was the song. Your argument was the effort the Queen put into the song. So you put the band also, the band is also represented by the song.
SPEAKER_03It looks like I'm gonna make the decision.
SPEAKER_12Go ahead.
SPEAKER_03Alright.
SPEAKER_12And where are you thinking? Hey, don't pressure the man.
SPEAKER_05Don't pressure the man.
SPEAKER_03Guys, listen.
SPEAKER_05Don't pressure the man.
SPEAKER_03One.
SPEAKER_12We had a great time with that concert.
SPEAKER_03One That is bribing.
SPEAKER_02That is bribing.
SPEAKER_11One. That is bribing.
SPEAKER_03One, the best concert I've ever been to in my entire life.
SPEAKER_11Greatest concert.
SPEAKER_03Greatest concert I've been to my entire time.
SPEAKER_11One of the best songs in my life. Hold on, stop. Hold on. Hold on.
SPEAKER_03Bribing this words. And here's the thing though. Isn't that the problem? Hey, when he started singing, but when he started singing at Friends in Low Places, lost my mind. But everyone. For me and you personally, I definitely lost my mind when he was Calling Bat, when he was playing Combat and Rouge. I was there was a much it's Columbant and Rouge is you know, that's that's kind of like a Garth Brooks song a little bit, I feel like. And um But that one's more that one's more of a niche. I guess. So here's so here's the thing though. With Bohemian Rhapsody, I have significant emotional ties to both of these songs. 100% right. There is nothing better than sitting at a bar and friends in little places come on, and you're just shit face drunk, and you got a marble red hanging outside of your mouth, and you're just like, yes. Blend it all on my roof. Right. And it just gets in, and you just get in there, right? I showed up in And you know the song, even three sheets to the wind. Mm-hmm. Right? Here's the thing.
SPEAKER_12Bohemian Rhapsody's harder to sing when you're drunk.
SPEAKER_03Excuse me.
SPEAKER_05I'm interrupting that man.
SPEAKER_03Here's the thing. Bohemian Bohemian Rhapsody is harder to drink. Let the man talk. Let the man talk. The topic is music that gets white people turned. Uh-huh. And the thing about Garth Brooks is that we were both raised in the South, and there is nothing better than going to a bar and getting drunk and listening to friends in low places. However, Bohemian Rhapsody, its reach is worldwide. It went.
SPEAKER_12Again, I have to disagree with you because again, no, no, no.
SPEAKER_03It is the I the He sold out Central Park. Listen, I'm not I'm not saying that. What do you think Central Park?
SPEAKER_05What do you think we did?
SPEAKER_03Listen, what you think we do? I'm not saying No one's ever done it. I'm not taking anything for Garth. I'm not taking anything away. I think you are from Garth. I think you are.
SPEAKER_12However, so that concert meant nothing too. That concert meant nothing too.
SPEAKER_03We're talking about the number one song that gets white people turned.
