Last week on the podcast, I shared the importance of taking a proactive approach to employee retention by holding stay interviews with your employees. This week, I wanted to share some of the questions you can ask to get helpful insight from your employees that will influence the decisions you make as it applies to employee retention. This week’s episode of the Entrepreneur to Employer podcast is about 21 stay interview questions you can use to proactively approach employee retention. 

In this episode, I will share the library of questions you can pull from for your stay interviews. I will also share what the answers to these questions can tell you about your business and the insight and actions you should consider taking based on the trends that come up.  

Category #1: Questions about the employee

  1. What do you look forward to most about coming to work?
  2. What do you dread most about coming to work?
  3. When was the last time you thought about leaving our company?
  4. What situation occurred that made you consider leaving?
  5. Would you recommend our company to job-seeking friends? Why or why not?
  6. What would tempt you to leave the company?

Category #2: Questions about the job

  1. What is the best part of your job?
  2. What part of your job would you eliminate if you could?
  3. Which of your talents are you not using in your current role?
  4. What would make your job even more satisfying?
  5. Do you feel that you’re getting clear goals and objectives for your role?
  6. As your manager, what can I do more or less?
  7. What do you think of the learning and development opportunities available to you?

Category #3: Questions about the company culture

  1. Do you feel valued and recognized in the company?
  2. How would you like to be recognized for the work you do?
  3. What are we currently not doing as a company that you feel we should?

Category #4: Questions about the work environment

  1. What do you feel we should change about or add to our offices?
  2. Are you satisfied with our current work-from-home policy? What would you change?

Category #5: Questions about the technology your company uses 

  1. Do you have enough tools and resources to d
