Do Epic Shit Today Podcast

E67: Kuro Athletics / Launching a Business & Maintaining Vision

Hannah Mulhern

On this episode of the Do Epic Shit Today Podcast, I sat down with Gary Black, a rad human who had a dream of launching an eyewear brand dedicated to resolving gaps that many athletes face - their ability to SEE while training and performing. Enter Kuro Athletics.

With the launch of Kuro Athletics, Gary talks to me about his main focal point  - providing high quality and durable eyewear for athletes that use prescription glasses. Nothing quite like transiting from a swim to bike during an Ironman to lose a contact lens, or battling with distorted vision while trying to perform your best during a race.

We further discuss:

  • The research that Gary had conducted to find the best solution to the massive gap in performance eyewear. (manufacturers, metal preferences, etc.)
  • The processes to get the business off the ground and tangible glasses in athletes hands.
  • How to maintain company vision and goals in a saturated eyewear market.
  • The process of overcoming doubt when launching a business.
  • Future goals and expansion of Kuro Athletics into other areas of the performance space. ie.

This episode is an epic opportunity to learn more about Kuro Athletics, how to attack the launch of a business and the process it entails, stay true to company values and how to truly Do Epic Shit Today.
