Did you realize a trade war could have war crimes? Well meet Doug Ford, the war criminal. In Canada. Ontario's premier, Doug Ford has done something truly incredible. He's out-Zelinsky'ed Zelinsky. With zero self-awareness, he's standing in front of the cameras fists clenched, promising to make America feel the pain Ontario Premier Doug Ford now threatening to shut off electricity to American homes near the border who rely on Canadian power. I. We keep the lights on the 1.5 million homes in manufacturing in New York, in Michigan, and in Minnesota. I will shut down the electricity going down to the US and I'm telling you we will do it. Over what? Tariffs? The same tariffs that Canada is supposedly against, but they're matching them? Except, here's the kicker. Canada isn't just matching tariffs. They're going beyond slapping tariffs on US goods would be one thing, but they're outright banning American alcohol too. That's not economic retaliation. That's economic temper tantrum. This is the country that pretends to value free trade, the friendly people, the polite people, the country that screams when America talks about protecting its people and industries and now they're banning bourbon? What if Canadians want to pay higher prices and still get their Kentucky booze? What happened to those Canadian values? But the stupidity doesn't stop there. Ford has found the one export Canada sends to the US that isn't hit with tariffs electricity and decided that's what he'll cut off. Why would he do that? Because electricity is a necessity. We can't just decide to wait until next year to buy it like you can a new car or buy from Costa Rica instead of Mexico like with produce. People have to buy electricity when it's needed, and that's now. Electricity to keep the lights on, to run the factories and hospitals and to charge our EVs. While we're doing that, Canadians are streaming south to fill up their tanks with American gasoline because guess what? It's cheaper in our free market economy. They love their government controlled system so much that they buy our gas by the gallon, which they have to convert to liters to clear customs in Windsor. Just kidding. But Ford's not threatening to cut that off, is he? Because he knows Canadians want cheap gas. Energy flows both ways. He's happy to shut it off when it goes south, but will he dare stop the flow going north? And if he wants to play this game, let's talk about Line 5, the pipeline that delivers crude oil from Western Canada to Ontario through Michigan and Wisconsin. The same pipeline that Michigan's governor, Gretchen Whitmer wants to shut down. Should the US let her? Ford's so eager to weaponize energy, maybe America should take note. Let's see how Ontario fares when all the petro dollars dry up And what is he retaliating against? America cracking down on fentanyl, something that kills 22 American teens every single week?. Something that just cost an ICE agent his life in Vermont. Maybe Ford thinks he can just brush that off. Argue,"well, China kills more teens than Canada does". And that's not much of a defense. That's more an admission of guilt. And speaking of guilt, this is where things take a dark turn because we've seen this before. The International Criminal Court declared that cutting off electricity to Gaza is a war crime, even when Israel was providing it for free to its enemies. So what does that make Doug Ford? Israel was giving power away. America is paying for it. Ford's move is not just reckless. It's an act of economic warfare By the ICC's own logic, Ford isn't just bluffing. He's openly threatening a war crime under international law. Well, he is the premier. That's a dictator, right? We've got here yet another little man, figuratively speaking, puffing his chest, standing in front of the cameras, thinking he can go toe to toe with Trump. He learned nothing from Zelensky. Ukraine's leader, went home to Kiev and got an earful from his cabinet and from his wife. And where is he now? Losing ground by the day, begging for another meeting, hoping for another fat check. Ford should pay attention because America has options. America has resources, and America doesn't lose these fights. A real leader wouldn't be standing at a podium, chest out, making drastic threats. A dictator would do exactly that. But a real leader would be at the table negotiating for the best deal for his people But Ford isn't doing that because this was never about trade, never about tariffs. This is about politics, about grandstanding, about the illusion of power, and when the lights go out, he'll find out just how little power he actually has.
