What do you do when sight fails but the need is urgent? We open the Scriptures and our own lived stories to show how faith moves from theory to traction—how trust in God’s character changes what you expect, how you pray, and how you endure. From Hebrews 11:1 to the woman who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment, we explore the kind of belief that reaches beyond odds and draws power from the Source.

We talk about why the Word must be mixed with faith to profit you, and why seeing miracles doesn’t guarantee a believing heart. Thomas wanted proof; Jesus blessed those who believe without it. That blessing still stands. We connect that promise to everyday pressures: a miner laid off with bills due, families facing medical emergencies, and the silent battles that test our resolve. Faith does not deny reality; it declares a greater reality—Jesus as healer, provider, and the anchor when storms rage. When you know he is your source, doors closing become detours, not dead ends.

Persistence turns belief into breakthrough. We lean into parables of relentless appeal, Job’s steady trust, and the armor of God that helps us stand when answers take time. We also center the most urgent expression of faith: salvation by grace. The law exposes our need; the cross supplies our rescue. Believe with your heart, confess with your mouth, and walk forward in a life shaped by repentance, holiness, and confidence that you have an Advocate. If you’ve wondered how to keep your light burning when oil runs low, these stories and Scriptures will help you dig deeper, steady your mind, and trust God for the next step.

If this resonates, tap follow, share it with a friend who needs courage today, and leave a quick review to help others find Truth Talk. Your words might be the nudge that helps someone choose faith over fear.

Why Faith Matters

SPEAKER_01

I welcome anybody that may have been scanning the net and decided to take a listen to Truth Talk. We want to talk about faith tonight. Without faith, we cannot please God. Without faith, we cannot get anything done. We just wander around. And if we want to have works, it takes faith to make works. And God will use us, God will bless us, He will save us, He will deliver us, He will heal us. And one of the highest requests that's ever given out in church is healing. And we notice that our Lord and Savior healed everybody he came to when he walked the earth his self. And uh when Peter and John went to the temple at the hour of prayer, and the impotent man had been sitting there, he'd been there forever, bagging, taking alms, crippled up, couldn't walk. Everybody came and went and felt sorry for him, but then one day they came in and they had great faith. Great faith. And they told him, You may know the story, you may not. We d much silver and gold have we none, but what we have we give unto you. And then Jude said that it was urgent that he I'll paraphrase that he reminds us that we need to have faith to earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered unto the saints. That's talking about the faith that Peter and John when he had in there.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, sir, yes, sir.

SPEAKER_01

And if you're just idling by and you pray every now and then, you go to church, maybe you don't, and you're not getting anywhere, you're not gaining any faith, you're not strong in the Lord, you're remaining vulnerable to the enemy to attack you, and you have no defense because you're not built up in faith, believing what the Lord says, what he tells us. That's like he said, you can go all the way back to the old testament, Isaiah 53. Who believes the report of the Lord? The Lord said you're healed by his stripes. Well, do you believe we're healed or not? If you don't believe it, you need to be working on it. Brother Abraham.

Great Faith At The Temple Gate

SPEAKER_03

Amen. Oh, gosh, faith is so, so important. How do we get anything from God? Amen. We don't get nothing from God but through faith. Amen. You get saved by faith, you get uh delivered by faith, you get healed, as Brother Hubert said, by faith, you know. Hebrews uh 11 and 1 gives the definition of faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. You know, uh as uh humanity goes, uh everyone for the most part is used to walking by sight.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

Seeing Isn’t Believing

SPEAKER_03

You know, we we make decisions and uh are are guided by uh what we see others do and uh how others react and we go the other way. But the Bible says a believer in the Lord walks by faith and not by sight. And uh so you know uh it really boils down to what you believe. Um tells us in Hebrews chapter four, and uh what he's referencing to is he's referencing to the children of Israel uh when they were led out of bondage of Egypt and they wandered in the wilderness for forty years and they seen God, they saw God do great miracles. Now think about think about seeing a big body of water just open up, okay, and let let all those people walk through on dry ground. They seen that with their own eyes. Other times they got hungry, and God rained them bread out of heaven. They saw that. Uh they they got to notice in the heat of the day there was a cloud hanging over the top of them to keep them from the sun. And at night time there was a pillar of fire there to lighting up the camp and stuff. Their shoes didn't wear out. But Paul was upbraiding them uh and uh putting them down, I guess would be a modern day word, in Hebrews chapter 3, saying that they saw all these works, but they still didn't believe. It's a scary thing when you see things and you still don't believe. Uh after Jesus was crucified and he rose from the dead, he appeared to them after he rose from the dead, appeared to a lot of his disciples, and some of them had seen him, and he came to uh they were telling old Thomas about it, and Thomas said, Unless I see the nail prints in his hand, and I stick my hand in his side, I'm not gonna believe. In other words, he says, I'm not gonna believe. I'm not gonna believe unless I can see, and that's the world than humanity's uh take on it today. Then the Lord showed up in front of Thomas and he said, My Lord and my God, you know. And he said, Thomas, you've seen and you've believed, but more blessed is that person who's not seen and yet they have believed. So then we get to Hebrews chapter four, and Paul says, he's talking to modern day people, he says, Let us therefore fear lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached as well as unto them, but the word preached them did not profit them, because it was not mixed with faith in them that heard it. When I first read that, Brother Hubert, I thought, How in the world can the word of God not profit somebody, James? You know, uh how the word goes forth, you know, how can it not profit? It's because you gotta mix it with faith. You absolutely have to mix it uh with faith for it uh to be uh profitable. If me and Brother Hubert had decided to preach on the reality of hell today, yeah, and all of its horribleness and the fact that it's eternal today, and just painted the awesomest picture that ever was of hell and its reality. If it's not being mixed with faith, it won't profit you one bit. If we talked about the love of God and how his mercy endures forever, or heaven and the sweetness of heaven and stuff, if you don't mix it with faith, it don't help you one bit. So I say to our listeners right now, brother Hubert, can you mix what we're talking about today with faith? Not faith in Hubert or James or me, but faith in the word of God that has been given us. Get into that word of God, the Bible says in Hebrews 10 or Romans 10, 17, I believe it is, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Amen. So you see, we have to mix it with faith to be profitable. Or to get anything from God, it has to be mixed with faith.

SPEAKER_01

Jesus told us, You're the light of the world.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, gosh.

SPEAKER_01

If I'm the light of the world, if I want my light to shine, then I've got to dig a little deeper in the well.

SPEAKER_03

Amen.

SPEAKER_01

I've got to bear down where the good stuff is.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that's good.

Mix The Word With Faith

SPEAKER_01

I've got to walk in his presence. I've have to have the anointing on me. I have to have a made-up mind. I'm not I'm not tossed to and fro. I'm not doubting, I'm not wondering, might it could it happen, or is this possible? I know what I believe. I believe the word of God. I know that he's my source for all things. I walked in a company office the other day. We work in the coal fields, and they had just laid off 200 miners in West Virginia, and this young man came in the office, he was very distraught. He was trying to get a job at this other mine. He had children in school and a wife and a living to make, and we all have our responsibilities to pay our bills. But I tell you right now, your job is not your source. Jesus is your source.

SPEAKER_03

Amen.

SPEAKER_01

If he's your source, if you lose that job, he will get you another one. Oh, yes. And it's probably gonna be a better one.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, yes, yes.

SPEAKER_01

But you're gonna have to have faith in order to believe that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You gotta believe he's your Lord and Savior. And if you're walking around lost without him, the world will walk on you and the devil will jump on your back, and he'll try to kind of convince you that you'll never have nothing, and that you might as well kill yourself. That's a he's a he comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus said, I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly. Uh you may think your source is gone, and it may be financially, temporarily. But the book of Hebrews 10 35 says, Therefore, cast not away your confidence, which has great recompense of reward. Maintain your confidence. Yes. Me and my business partner pulled on a yard at a coal yard where they load coal, and we was talking to this young man, and he got an emergency phone call, and he said, Oh, brothers, pray, pray. A boy has had a heart attack and he's in the ER Big Stone Gap Hospital. Then he came back out and said he's dead. And said his mom has showed up and she wants to go in there where he's at. And I said, What we're gonna do is pray for him and his mother and the Lord will raise him up. In a few minutes, he came back out the door and said, He is raised up. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. I'm sitting right there.

SPEAKER_03

Praise God, praise God.

SPEAKER_01

Now he didn't live a long time, but he raised up, and then it I don't know how long it went. I asked about him, and he had passed away, but he raised up and he was dead to have a little time with his mother. And the point is, it ain't over till the Lord says it's over. The Jews they don't want to believe, and they might have made up a lie that they stole the body of Jesus. But what are they gonna tell what happened to Lazarus, who was in the tomb four days, and everybody in that country knew about it, and Jesus went over there and told them to move the stone and he called him out. And then as he told Martha, I'm the resurrection and the life. You don't have to go, you don't have to worry about nothing else. I'm the man.

SPEAKER_03

Amen.

Light Of The World & Daily Trust

SPEAKER_01

Now Jesus is it. If you need a God and a Savior you can trust and have faith in, that died for your sins, that rose from the dead, that as he was the first fruit rising from the tomb, you will rise also. And if you die and go to the grave prior to the rapture of the church, he will bring you up. And to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. You have nothing to fear. Have faith in God. He's with you always. He will bless you, he will keep you, he will make a way when there ain't no way. They made that song. He's a way maker. You better believe he'll make a way. He makes a way when there ain't no way. Bless God, amen.

Source In Scarcity: Provision Stories

SPEAKER_03

He surely will, buddy. He surely will. Think about Hebrews chapter 11, verse 6. Paul says, Without faith, it is impossible to please God. For they that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. That's a powerful verse right there. You know, and uh the word of God is powerful, and the Bible tells us that the word of God is eternal. And uh He said, Heaven and earth will pass away. Amen. But my words will never pass away. And I often refer to the Word of God as the uh owner's manual for the human being. Hallelujah. Amen. And that's what it is. And who knows more about a human being than the one that created He's the O E M. He's the original equipment manufacturer. Amen, brother Hubert. Amen. Amen. So the question is today is uh, do you believe him? Like Hebrews 11 6 says, uh without faith in him, it's impossible to please him. And if you decide that you do got enough to come to God, you gotta believe that he's there, he hears you, and that he's a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Now, there's lots of faith stories in the Bible. Me and Brother Hubert uh uh don't have enough time here today to cover every one of the faith stories that's in the Bible. But I think one of the ones that I like the most is because Jesus was totally oblivious to this person that had a need. And she just latched hold of faith by herself. Amen. Jesus was passing by, and a whole big crowd was following him, passing by, and uh he was actually on his way to somebody that asked him to come to his house and pray for his dying daughter. And so while he was on his way, okay, over to the side was this woman that had her own little problem. And the Bible said she had tried many physicians, amen. She had an issue of blood, she had a health problem, amen. And the doctors couldn't take care of her health problem. She had tried many physicians, they couldn't do nothing for her. But I love this part, Brother Hubert. The Bible said she said within herself.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_03

Jesus wasn't aware of what she was saying in herself at the time. What was that? That was nothing but faith on her part.

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_03

She believed in Jesus. She decided she was going to come to Jesus. Just what Paul said in 11 and 6. If you're going to come to him, you got to believe that he is. And you got to believe he's a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. That's exactly what she did. Because the Bible said she said within her heart, if I can just touch the hem of his garment, I might be made whole. Uh-uh. There's a good chance I might be made. No, she didn't say that. She says, if I can touch the hem of his garment, I know he'll be made whole. And that goes right along with that definition of faith. Faith is a substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. She had so much faith, even though that at that point in time when she was saying it, she still had her health problems. But it was becoming substance. She couldn't see it. And the evidence for it wasn't there yet. But she said, if I can do this, I know what's going to happen. I'm going to be made whole. And the story goes on to say that she touched that hem of his garment. And Jesus stopped and he said, Who touched me?

SPEAKER_01

Amen.

SPEAKER_03

And his disciples said, What do you mean, who touched you? There's people all around you. He said, Someone has touched me. It wasn't just a regular physical touch that somebody had touched him, it was a touch of faith. Somebody had touched the Lord with faith. Hallelujah. I feel the presence of the Lord right now. For I feel virtue coming out of me, Jesus said. And the woman spoke up and told him what she had done. And what did he say to her? Daughter, thy faith has made thee whole. It's thy faith that's made thee whole. Thy faith in me. Amen. And uh that's a lesson for us all, Brother Hubert. Amen. You know what? No matter what situation or circumstance yours in, you're out there listening to us. No matter what situation or circumstances you're in. You're talking about a God, amen, that is all knowing. There ain't nobody knows more than him. Amen. He's all powerful. There ain't nobody can do more than him. And he's all loving. Ain't nobody will ever care for you more than him. So no matter what your situation is, if you can muster up that faith to go to him and let your heart break open and bear yourself to him. Amen. He'll move and he'll turn your situation around just as sure as we're sitting here. Amen, Brother Hubert.

Resurrection Power & Hope

SPEAKER_01

You you may be saying in your mind, well, those things were for those people. And there's actually people this day and time that teaches that uh nobody can be filled with the Holy Ghost, that nobody can have a miraculous healing or any of the spiritual gifts in operation. But Jesus done special demonstrations himself and the apostles did that somebody outside, you know, the gospel was only to Israel to start with. But a man named Cornelius heard about the gospel and how good it was, and he started to pray, and he started to give out alms to those in need, and he started to live real good, and he wasn't inclusive in God's plan at that time. But God took note of what Cornelius was doing, and he sent word, he told him to send people over to Joppa where Peter was at and tell him to come over there. And he proceeded to come over there and preach Jesus to them and salvation, and they not only got saved, they got filled with the Holy Ghost right there. That the resurrection and the life, Jesus can do what he wants to. And whatever you need, he's what you need. We had a woman. Her daughter was in bad shape. Bad shape. She came to the Lord. I believe she was a Syrophoenician woman. And he said, I d I can't give my the children's bread to the dogs. He called her a dog, and she's down there pr pleading for the life. Of her daughter. But she persisted, Lord, but the dogs eat the crumbs from the master's table, and that got him. He said that faith has moved me. Yes, amen. Your daughter will be all right.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, amen.

SPEAKER_01

So don't let up. Had an unjust judge. And a woman come before him. Oh, I need you to reconcile my problem. I need you to move. I need you to move. And she persisted so much and had so much confidence that even him who didn't like God or nobody else, he said, I've got to give her her petition or she's going to worry me to death. How much more will a loving God, when you so show faith and come to him with that which you need and you desire and you're believing him for and you won't let go of it and you keep coming before him, he will move for you. I told him in church last night, I said, I want all of you that we've laid hands on tonight and anointed you and prayed for you. Don't you try to microwave this. You want him to do it before you get to the house, and he might, but it may take a little time. Therefore, hold your faith. Hold your confidence. If you don't see it in a week or two, you wait right on. You stay right on with it. Don't let up. Don't cast away your confidence. Sometimes he'll give us a little shot to see how good our armor is. That's the reason he went to Ephesians 6 and said, put on the whole armor of God.

SPEAKER_03

Amen.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, we both, we all, anybody that knows the Bible, if you don't know about Job, get you a Bible and look at it. He was a very, very godly man.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, he was.

Faith That Touches Jesus

SPEAKER_01

Upright in all of his ways, and he was allowed to go through horrible trials. His children were killed, his crops were destroyed, his whole wealth was tucked away from him, but he never lit up on his faith in God. He never forfeited what he believed to be true. So hold fast to your faith in Jesus. He will help you, he will be there. If you're not saved, I plead with you while you can. Repent of your sins, ask him to save you and find you a good church and support that pastor and live for the Lord. Hallelujah. Amen, brother Abraham.

SPEAKER_03

I'm looking up a scripture here.

SPEAKER_01

While Brother Hambah was pulling up a scripture, Amen. When he went over to raise Lazarus from the dead, he waited four days late on purpose. And I believe, church, and people listening, that when he went to Jarus's house and his daughter was dead, and he told Jarrus on the way over there, don't worry about it, just have faith. And he got over there and the mourners were going on, and he said she's not dead, she's just asleep. And they laughed him to scorn because he had no faith. And he went in there where she was at and raised her from the dead and gave her her life back. And it went through at that, and people made up a lie that she wasn't really dead. Then he met a mother in a funeral procession, and her son was dead, and he had compassion on her. And he went over there and touched the casket and raised him up and gave him to his mother. Well, they made up something, maybe that that well, he wasn't really dead, but he waited four days late on Lazarus, where he already stank. He said, They won't put this in down. There it is. Faith will do that which you need done.

Persistence, Armor, And Trials

SPEAKER_03

Amen. So many miracles, so many awesome things the Lord uh uh did in the Bible, you know, when he calmed the sea. Yeah. You know, the storm was raging, he was asleep. His disciples come and woke him up in the back of the boat, said, Lord, don't you care if we perish? And uh the Bible says he spoke to the winds and the waves, and the sea becomes calm, a great calm. But he looked at him and said, Where is your faith? Where is your faith? But we don't want to leave this session today. We only got about four and a half minutes left here. We don't want to leave this session today with uh out talking about um the most important kind of faith we can have. And that is uh faith to believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved. You know in uh in I've said this before in the first half of the of the Bible, the Old Testament, we see the Lord reaching out to lost humanity, and in essence, what he's saying all those years is trust me, believe me, obey me, I'll be a father to you, I'll care for you, I'll complete you, and I'll bless you if you'll just do that. Of course, we know if you read that old Old Testament, it the whole thing was uh just nobody, nobody would do it. And Powell in Romans chapter 3, 10, 19, uh speaks of that. He says, as it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. Isn't that awful after all those years of God reaching out that this would be the summary uh uh of all the God reaching out to humanity and they kept refusing him? There's none righteous, no not one. There's none that understands, there is none that seeks after God. They they are all gone out of the way, they've become unprofitable. There is none good, no, not one. Amen. Then he goes on to say, to talk about the law of God. You know, uh sin is uh the failure to keep uh the law that our God gave to us. Remember what I said about uh him, it's like the owner's manual for the human being. He knows what's good for us, he knows why we were created, and we were created to be connected to him. We were created for him to be a part of our lives. Nobody knows more about us than he does. And so he reaches out to us and we've refused him over and over. And Paul's saying, the law that he's given us to keep, it was given to us that every mouth may be stopped, and that the whole world would become guilty before God. We got a saying in these mountains, you can't get nobody saved because you can't get nobody lost. Amen. People have a problem uh realizing that they're worthy of hell, they're worthy of the judgment of God. We all are. Everyone are worthy of that. And again, what I'm saying right now has to be mixed with faith. I hope, Brother Hubert, there's someone out there listening right now that I can tell you you'll never be good enough to meet God's laws. You will never get to that place and everything to where you can make it on your own. If you could, then that means Christ would have died in vain. So the first thing you gotta mix faith to is that you need saved. You need forgiven of your sins, amen. And Jesus took your cross for you. He took your judgment for you. It's your cross, it's your guilt, but he took it for you. If you can mix faith with that, amen. Bible says he'll make a new creature out of you. If you will fall down in front of him, let your heart break open and say, Father, I am a sinner, and I believe that you died for me, and you're willing to turn from your sins and believe upon him, you'll be saved. Amen. The Bible says, For by grace are you saved. Amen. Through what? What we're talking about here tonight. Through faith, amen. Hallelujah. If we believe in our heart and we confess with our mouth that God has raised him from the dead, we shall be saved. Amen. That's a target, the most important target of our faith. Of course, there's so many more blessings that come with us. Amen.

SPEAKER_01

When you get saved, as brother Abraham said, the devil's gonna come to you and try to take it away and tell you that you're not saved. And if you make a mistake, if you sin somehow or other, little John says you have an advocate with him. If we make a sin, we might say something, we might do something. We're we're human, we're flesh and blood, we're striving not to sin. But if you sin, repent and don't do it no more. He will forgive you. Yes, amen. Keep on pressing for the mark of the high calling of God. Sanctify yourself.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, sir.

Salvation By Faith Alone

SPEAKER_01

Be holy as he is holy, and as you draw near to him, as Book James said, he'll draw near to you. If you want the devil off of your back, submit yourself to God, and he will deliver you. The enemy will flee from you when you then that submission to God means you give him your life and you obey his commandments and serve him.

SPEAKER_03

Amen. Amen, my brother. Well said. Well said. As we pray, we hope this finds a place in your heart. Amen. Give your heart unto Jesus. Seek him, amen. He'll turn your life around. Hallelujah. In Jesus' name. Amen. Praise God.
