ok, we’re here at the cemetery. Now what?
STORM

ELECTRA
Maybe you could tell us the next lines of the riddle.

“A lone angel ….hovers in the sky…
guarded by a pair of hounds …who cry.”
ELECTRA
Ok, First, let me conjure a ’find’ spell to help us.

I hope that magic works.
STORM
It will. Electra is the best.
We should look for either markings on a gravestone, or it may be part of a sculpture, or frieze on the bigger monuments and buildings.
ELECTRA
Maybe we should look at the bigger ones first,
then check out the gravestones on the way.

STORM

DUNCAN
walks away to a spot in the cemetery
Wait ….I found two dogs over here! Oh, but they look like they’re laughing. Sorry!
STORM
Hey, I see wings over there.
We hear footsteps to the grave
Uh,...No - it’s only an eagle. (from a distance)
DUNCAN
Man, This cemetery is huge… how are we going to find anything here?
ELECTRA
Patience. Let’s keep looking.
They keep walking
STORM
Up ahead, see that knoll…where all the trees are?
I feel something … like a surge of energy emanating from it.
DUNCAN
OK, Storm. Let’s get closer.
Hear steps on stone
STORM
It’s a mausoleum cut into the hill.
ELECTRA
I think I see dogs… near that gate.
STORM
Oh I think they're raising their heads!
DUNCAN
Let’s see. Torches, lasses.
Yes! They are howling. We found them!
STORM
But what about the angel … is it here?
DUNCAN
Let’s get closer to the building,
Can you put your torches higher over here….
…a bit higher!
STORM
Electra, Look! Just above the door -
ELECTRA
An angel .… it’s the hovering angel.(excited)
STORM
You guys, we have a match!
ELECTRA
Ok, now what?
DUNCAN
Now that we found the place, how do we get inside?
I’ll try the door.
(he tries jingling, pushing, pulling shaking the door)
That’s not working. Wait, I’ll try something else.
ELECTRA
What are you doing Duncan?
We hear running and Duncan slams into the door
DUNCAN
Ooof! What the… ? It didn’t budge!
STORM
I think the door is locked with magic. We’ll need magic to open it.
ELECTRA
What are the next lines?
DUNCAN
“The otherworldly and light of night,
Will open up to invite.”
ELECTRA
Hmmm - light of night?
Could be…. fireflies? …Stars? … the Moon?
STORM
Good Electra the moon… now, Otherworldly…..
Duncan, your amulet is… is flickering!
DUNCAN
Aye, it is!
STORM
That’s from your realm, not this one. That could be …
Duncan, I have an idea… … Can you step out here?
Let’s see what happens when the moon beam shines on your amulet.
DUNCAN he steps out

STORM
Yes!
DUNCAN
Wow! This amulet… It‘s pure dead brilliant, eh?
STORM
Pretty amazing!
ELECTRA
Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go in.
STORM
Wait, before we go in, Duncan …tell us the ot her lines to the riddle.
DUNCAN
“The otherworldly and light of night,

It’s done that, eh gals? The door’s open.

As they step in they see the crypt is open
DUNCAN
I guess you get a “two for one’ - the amulet opened the door and the crypt!
ELECTRA
I love a good Crypt!
(her oohs echo down the hole)
Ooooooo!. Look….what the… a staircase?
STORM
Wow, that must be where we step down….
Any other lines in the riddle Duncan?
DUNCAN
Aye, two more lines.
“What you seek is down the stairs,
But be ready and beware!”
ELECTRA
That’s a bit scary, you guys, even for us witches.
STORM
Scared Electra?
ELECTRA

DUNCAN
Don’t make me laugh! I was chosen by the council for this. (Nervous Laugh)
The pool of Urde is calling me and our sick sacred tree, Ygdrassil.
I couldn't have gotten this far without you two, my brave lassies.
But this is my quest. There may be dangers down there!
You don’t have to follow me down…
STORM
What?

Are you trying to ditch us, Duncan?
DUNCAN
No, I’m just saying…
ELECTRA
This is the biggest adventure of my life, if you think I’m leaving now…
STORM

We hear the footsteps echo as they rush down
Jeremy meets Gab at the Cemetery
JEREMY
Hey, everyone, your host Jeremy Hamilton here, and I’m trying something new - where Gab and I go straight into the field
- you know, where the action is,
to encounter the paranormal, cryptids and monsters up close.
Let’s call this show…. the Jeremy Hamilton’s Strange Encounters Special.
Tonight is Halloween night, with a full moon high in the cold night.
I find myself driving to a cemetery…. Oak Grove Cemetery to meet up with my co-host Gabriel.
Why, you ask?
Well, Gab called me a half hour ago... she was a bit frantic - telling me stories of dark forces in our little town of Wincharm. Something is up tonight, that could be a universal threat to all of humanity! We will investigate this serious situation … and I have to say I’m shaking a bit in my boots.
OK, listeners, I am approaching the gates of the graveyard. Lights off.
It’s pretty dark but with the full moon shining bright - ahh I see Gab.
She looks ghostly in her long robes - she’s still wearing her Princess Leia costume from the Halloween Party. And I will have you know listeners, I still look like Indiana Jones -I didn’t get a chance to change my costume. And I’m starting to feel the part! Let’s hope there are no snakes here!
Cemeteries are creepy shadowy places at night and especially on Halloween night - who knows what - or who- we will encounter.
*Jeremy stops the car at the entrance of the graveyard. Open door, straps on everything. Steps on gravel surface *
GAB
Psst, psst Jeremy! Over here.
Do you have everything we need?
JEREMY
Yes, yes, flashlights, tapes, recorder, microphone.
Now you sounded quite urgent on the phone, what is this world-ending threat?
GAB
The party I was at… was like no other I’ve been to. A giant spider doing art, a palace inside an old mansion, even.. Big Foot. Big Foot was there! An Alien - from outer space crashed …
JEREMY
Are you sure, Gab?
Are you sure they weren’t just really good costumes?
GAB
I know it sounds fantastical - but felt very real!
Look, I was there trying to find a phone. I was in this room just about to call you and all of a sudden, a young guy and two girls came in. I hid, of course. The guy was given a riddle to finish his ‘quest’ at the ‘Hall of Mirrors’? He seemed to need these girls AND Well they said they were full-fledged witches Jeremy!
JEREMY
Professor Rocheleau was right! There is sorcery in this town!
GAB
And the guy, Duncan, he said” The fate of the realms lies in our hands.”
JEREMY
That sounds… very ominous.
GAB
They’re here! We need to find them and see where they’re headed!
JEREMY
Gab, slow down. I can see you’re getting upset.
GAB
Upset, yes. Scared, you bet. … but most of all, I am excited.
My intuition says this is the real thing!
JEREMY
Yeah! This could make us pioneers. Maybe even heroes?
GAB
So…how do we start?
JEREMY
We’re going to take our audience with us by describing what we are seeing as we see it.
Look, I can do the Ninja walk so I can be quiet. … I can even do it backwards. Watch…
(he ninja walks and trips on the backwards)

(he brushes himself off)

JEREMY
Listeners, Gab and I trying to find our young boy, Duncan, and the accompanying young witches at Oak Grove Cemetery. We are surrounded by rows and rows of ancient graves… there are a lot of dead people here
…the darkness, the leaves in the wind sound like they’re rattling like bones, and the eerie shadows seem to be reaching for you… to grab us!
GAB
Jeremy-watch where you’re going!

JEREMY
Oops! Um, Gab, since I’m the seasoned paranormal investigator and star of the special, maybe you should be following me.
GAB
Ugh. Whatever. Let's get going!
JEREMY

JEREMY
Yes, and my co-host Gabriel, are traveling deeper into this remote and most likely haunted cemetery. we will unearth the secrets and spirits - that are hidden in the shadows.
We will find and follow the three who seek to save the realms this Halloween eve. Do you dare to come with us as we take you …one step BEYOND?
The Dark Coven goes Underground
We hear footsteps in the cave - Nick, M. Cross, Chilton and Samuel
NICK
Where are we?
I never knew there were tunnels underneath Wincharm!
And so many!
M. CROSS
You are late learning our ways, Nick. Ancient magic - the most powerful magic - lives deep in the underground. That is why we are here. And you, my boy, were meant to be with us this night, to harness this power.
CHILTON
This is a great Honor. You are lucky to be here.
NICK
Trust me, I’m honored. But I still can’t believe this is real.
They keep walking in the tunnel, chilton and m cross are up ahead.
SAMUEL
whispers to nick
It's ok to feel overwhelmed, Nick.
NICK
Samuel, it’s all happening so fast!
SAMUEL
I know.
NICK
First I have my first real band gig, ….then I find out that I’m this … magical! ….and now I'm in a deep underground tunnel… with a coven!
SAMUEL
Usually, it doesn’t happen this quickly. What took years for me to accomplish as a young warlock, you will be doing in one night.
It’s a lot to wrap your head around, Nick.
But you’ve got this. And we’ve got you.
NICK
Thanks. ….uh-You’re Electra’s dad, right?
SAMUEL
Yes,I am. She’s been learning the Craft too. You both have a lot in common, you know.
NICK
Maybe...
(laughing nervously)
But to be honest, I don’t think she’s a huge fan of mine.
SAMUEL
So I’ve heard. Chuckles
She’s a strong young woman: determined, loyal,
(chuckles lovingly)
not afraid to speak her mind,
(quietly, serious)
like her mother.
And she wanted the best for Storm. To her, you were a threat…as an Unmagical.
NICK
Is that a bad thing… to be an unmagical?
SAMUEL
(thoughtfully)
It’s….complicated. The Magical community frowns on those kinds of pairings.
And I know that firsthand.
My wife – Hanna - was…er… is an Unmagical. She disappeared.
NICK
I’m sorry, I didn't know.
SAMUEL
That’s alright. For Electra, losing her mother left her.. well, with a lot of hurt…and anger.
She keeps it locked inside. That’s her way of coping, at least.
NICK
Your wife…she-disappeared?
SAMUEL
She was taken… 10 years ago to this day.…I believe into the spirit realm.
NICK
The– spirit realm?
SAMUEL
Yes, one of the many realms that exist.
The veil between our world and the realms are the weakest tonight - on Samhain.
With enough powerful magic, it may allow us to open a portal to it.
This conjuring tonight may be my only chance to find her.
NICK
I promise I’ll help in any way I can.

NICK

I think I counted over 500 steps!
DUNCAN
It would have taken us forever to walk down those stairs.
ELECTRA
After the 25th one, I realized there could be an easier way.
DUNCAN
Well, It’s good to have witches around!
STORM
Uh oh! The passageways in front of us, Duncan,.... don’t they remind you a bit of the Goblin tunnels?
DUNCAN
Groans
No not..again!
STORM
Let’s see where they lead us.
(WE HEAR THEM WALKING)
ELECTRA
The walls are really beautiful - look at all the different sea shells!
DUNCAN
I see over there…. an opening.
The sounds of the space changes from small to big
ELECTRA
WOW, it’s…
STORM

We hear the sound of water, birds flying,
ELECTRA
I feel like I’m in a jungle.
STORM
How is this possible way down here? There has to be powerful magic here.
DUNCAN
I hope so… we got to find the Pool of Urde tonight!

My Aunt Alissa always says, it takes getting lost, to find exactly what you’re looking for!

GAB
Now’s not the time for cute quotes and song lyrics! We’re probably missing all the action! This was gonna be our only chance to catch something amazing and paranormal-and we missed it.
JEREMY
If this is gonna work, we’re going to have to-
GAB Gasp
Jeremy-look behind you..
JEREMY
What is it -a spirit? The undead? Please, don’t tell me it's the undead.
GAB Turning him around
UGH don't be a scaredy cat- Just look!
JEREMY
The door -to that mausoleum - its open!!
GAB
It's a clue -it must be!
JEREMY
Listeners , me and Gab are about to go into this ancient mausoleum with a door that’s ajar. Who opened it? We don’t know. What’s behind the door. Well, We’re hoping this is where Duncan and the witches went.
Where will it take us as we venture further into this mysterious chasm? what will we see waiting within… pleasures?…or terrors? I’m hoping - pleasures.
GAB

JEREMY
I don’t know. Maybe a wish-granting v minotaur or something.

Wow (cough cough) it's dusty in here!
JEREMY
Look, I see footprints leading to the crypt! Can you see what’s inside, Gab?
GAB
You can look straight down-into plain nothing!
It's so dark. Where do you think it goes?
JEREMY
Only one way to find out…
Now, listeners-Gab and I have found ourselves on the precipice of a spiral staircase hidden inside this ancient crypt- it’s very dark in there, but it se ems the stairs lead deep underground!
Where will it take us to?
- a mystery waiting to be discovered and a great adventure to be had? Or to the very darkness where angels fear to tread.
Listeners, we now begin our descent - with nothing but our flashlights, our tape deck and our thirst for the Truth to guide us!

Jeremy, I can’t see anything-can you point your flashlight over here?
JEREMY
Be careful, Gab-make sure you don’t slip, these stone stairs seem ancient-who knows how sturdy they are.
GAB
Yeah, you’re right, I’ll try to step carefully.
JEREMY
Wow, are you seeing these markings? They’ve been etched into the walls- is it another language? Alien, perhaps?
GAB
look at this one- it looks like a giant tree!
Wwow, Jeremy, wWhat is this place?? And who-or what-is behind all this?
JEREMY
I’m not sure Gab, but I think we’ve stumbled onto something BIG!
Rumbling sound, rocks tumble down from the walls around them

M. CROSS

(Unintelligible voices echo from the portal and swirling)
NICK
I hear voices calling out to me!
M. CROSS
Concentrate, Nick.

NICK

NICK

SAMUEL

HANNA

Samuel! Oh my dear, finally - You’ve come to save me?
SAMUEL

HANNA
The spirit realm has changed me.
SAMUEL
Don’t worry, My darling…. we can be together again.
NICK
There is a presence … Samuel.. I feel…
SAMUEL

HANNA

SAMUEL

HANNA

NICK
Samuel, I’m not sure if that’s really-
SAMUEL

I want to hold you again.
HANNA
Finally my dearest we are together ….
She passing thru the portal—
– (harsher voice slowly changing to the serpent)
you fool, hah!
SAMUEL
Hanna?
HANNA
Now it is my time to reign in your world
(HANNA transforms into a serpent-like beast, her voice changing)
- you will bow down to me…
( her voice changing to that of the monster before them)
NICK
Oh, my God! It’s growing larger! Samuel, step back! Over here!
Sounds of the monster
CHILTON
What is that… thing!?
It’s growls
M. CROSS
Foul beast! Come, we must push it back into the portal.
CHILTON
Have fun with that!!! I’m outta here!!!
Chilton disappears
M. CROSS
Coward! I put a curse on the entire Merrick family.
(to the serpent)
Now as for You, Damned serpent!
(the serpent growls at M. Cross)
I am High Priest M. Cross!!!
I command you to return from whence you came!
Revertetur in terram suam.
(M. CROSS casts a spell at the serpent with his want. The serpent growls, upset.)
I said, Revertetur in terram suam!
(the magic is too weak, the serpent seems to laugh at M. Cross and gets ready to attack M. Cross)
M. CROSS
Wait! No no no no no-
(The serpent lashes out at M. CROSS .
Cry out – crushing hime as he dies.
(The serpent roars and we hear it escaping into the tunnel.)
NICK
What… M. Cross is dead! What did I unleash?
SAMUEL
We both unleashed it, Nick.
We must put it back into it’s own realm.
Who knows what havoc it will wreak in this world.
Let’s go find it, Nick before it’s too late!

It looks like Stonehenge. I’m feeling a very strong energy.
ELECTRA

Look, the waterfall coming out of that big stone circle….
DUNCAN
Could it be? Let’s go over there!
Walk over to it, water sounds get louder
ELECTRA
Oooo! the color of the water, it’s electric blue!
STORM
It seems to be shimmering light.
DUNCAN

ELECTRA
Look at your amulet, Duncan!
It’s turning blue too!
Magical sound, waterfall,
DUNCAN
Aye it is! (laughing)
There is a saying…”What's fur ye will no go by ye”
We are here! This is the Pool of Urde.
I have to say that I didn’t think I would find it.
ELECTRA
You didn’t?
STORM
I knew we would!
DUNCAN
Aye, Thanks my wee witches for standing by me.
Do you know what this means?
STORM

DUNCAN
My grandfather and the council will be so proud of me… and you too.
ELECTRA
Does that make us heroes?
STORM
I like the sound of that!
DUNCAN
Aye. The clans will be singing about this day for centuries… about us and our bravery and your witchery.
Now I need to fill the sacred flask with this elixir… to heal Yggdrasil. I will give it to the elves.
Duncan takes out his flask and stoops down to fill the flask
Tonight’s the night I leave, lassies.
Duncan stoops down to fill it.
We hear running steps and the sound of rustling thru bushes.

SAMUEL

STORM:

NICK
Storm? Guess what? I..I found out - I’m a Magical! Like you!
ELECTRA & STORM
What? No Way!
NICK
I have this weird power!
SAMUEL
He is a thresholder, girls!
STORM

SAMUEL
We’re coming from the old Merrick Cave.
M. Cross, that crazy warlock, traced Nick’s lineage to an unusual magical family. Cross needed him to open the portal tonight - under some misguided scheme to become an immortal. And I … I helped him.
We did it.. We opened it. The portal….And …
ELECTRA
Slow down, Dad!
SAMUEL
It’s important to hear this…. There is this very big and very dangerous dragon…
DUNCAN
A dragon?
SAMUEL
It came from the other realm… I’m sorry …it fooled me…
NICK
Fooled both of us!
SAMUEL
It’s in our world now, somewhere in these tunnels!
We were trying to find it before it…
NICK
It spoke of wanting total domination…. of our world!
DUNCAN
Erce? My Erce?
ELECTRA
How can we stop it?
STORM
Well, we have a dragon too!
