00:01:03.807 --> 00:01:09.626 And they just didn't accept him because they knew him from childhood. 00:01:09.626 --> 00:01:22.710 And in verse five it says and he could there do know mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk and healed them and he marveled. 00:01:22.710 --> 00:01:33.061 Because of their unbelief, everybody say he marveled and he went around about the village's teaching All right. 00:01:33.061 --> 00:01:46.495 And then in Matthew, chapter eight, in verse 10, the centurion had a servant. 00:01:46.495 --> 00:01:50.760 And the centurion, jesus, was gonna come to his house. 00:01:50.760 --> 00:01:54.105 He said you know, speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. 00:01:54.105 --> 00:02:02.560 And in verse 10, when Jesus heard it, when he heard that response, he marveled and said to them that followed. 00:02:02.560 --> 00:02:06.350 Verily, I say unto you, I have not found so great a faith. 00:02:06.350 --> 00:02:08.347 No, not in Israel. 00:02:08.347 --> 00:02:17.665 In verse 13, in Jesus said unto the centurion Go thy way and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. 00:02:17.665 --> 00:02:21.729 And his servant was healed in the self same hour. 00:02:21.729 --> 00:02:27.971 And so tonight I just wanted to share a message entitled when Jesus Marveled. 00:02:28.256 --> 00:02:34.164 When Jesus Marveled, there's only two places in the Bible where Jesus marveled. 00:02:34.164 --> 00:02:39.084 I mean, you know, jesus had been around for a long time, for all of eternity. 00:02:39.084 --> 00:02:40.925 I mean he's seen a lot of things. 00:02:40.925 --> 00:02:44.890 I mean he saw Satan as lightning cast down from heaven. 00:02:44.890 --> 00:02:48.104 He'd seen this, he'd seen that, he'd seen all the kind of things. 00:02:49.360 --> 00:02:59.993 And yet there's just two cases where we notice that he marveled, and the first case was he marveled at their unbelief. 00:02:59.993 --> 00:03:04.250 You know, it must take a lot to make him marvel. 00:03:04.250 --> 00:03:08.792 I mean, marvel is greater than surprise. 00:03:08.792 --> 00:03:09.895 It's greater than you know. 00:03:09.895 --> 00:03:11.786 Marvel is kind of a strong word. 00:03:11.786 --> 00:03:14.180 That's how I read my Bible. 00:03:14.180 --> 00:03:16.905 I look at words and I think, well, that's a strong word. 00:03:17.441 --> 00:03:18.187 What about this? 00:03:18.187 --> 00:03:20.145 What about this made him marvel? 00:03:20.145 --> 00:03:23.159 What about this caused him so much surprise? 00:03:23.159 --> 00:03:27.572 Not surprise, but even it's negative delight. 00:03:27.572 --> 00:03:35.631 You know Marvel and the positive you know, you're delighted, you love the response that you got. 00:03:35.631 --> 00:03:38.748 And in the negative side it's the negative of that. 00:03:38.748 --> 00:03:40.967 And so he was more than disappointed. 00:03:42.462 --> 00:03:51.245 And so what was it about this that impressed Jesus to marvel so much that the Holy Ghost inspired men to write it in the Bible? 00:03:51.245 --> 00:03:55.387 They couldn't have written this unless the Holy Ghost inspired them to write it. 00:03:55.387 --> 00:04:03.126 So the first case unbelief caused him to marvel at his own hometown. 00:04:03.126 --> 00:04:06.608 His friends and family were amazed. 00:04:06.608 --> 00:04:16.634 If you read on up here in Mark, it basically says that they had acknowledged the miracles. 00:04:16.634 --> 00:04:19.223 I mean, they didn't doubt the miracles. 00:04:19.223 --> 00:04:21.869 That's kind of amazing. 00:04:21.869 --> 00:04:25.250 It says they were astonished. 00:04:25.250 --> 00:04:28.269 They heard many that heard him were astonished. 00:04:28.269 --> 00:04:38.269 And it says where did he get all this that he's teaching, where did he get this and that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? 00:04:38.269 --> 00:04:42.269 So they admitted that he had miracles, and yet they were offended at him. 00:04:42.269 --> 00:04:52.336 It's not just the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and all of that, but see, they've known him all of his life, our naughty sisters here with us. 00:04:52.336 --> 00:04:53.759 They were offended. 00:04:53.759 --> 00:05:01.161 They were offended at him and so they just looked at him in the natural standpoint. 00:05:01.161 --> 00:05:09.269 They didn't accept him as a teacher, they certainly didn't accept him as the Messiah, because they knew they'd been with him all their lives. 00:05:09.269 --> 00:05:11.295 And they, just they. 00:05:11.295 --> 00:05:13.500 Just here's the guy, the carpenter's son. 00:05:13.500 --> 00:05:22.209 You know, the last time we noticed he was making chairs and tables at his daddy's shop and you know all this kind of thing. 00:05:22.209 --> 00:05:25.519 And the Bible says he could there do no mighty work. 00:05:25.519 --> 00:05:33.783 And one translation says, save that he laid his hands on a few sick folk and healed them of minor ailments. 00:05:33.783 --> 00:05:40.521 So we see that he marveled at their unbelief. 00:05:40.641 --> 00:05:43.889 Unbelief really has got two kinds. 00:05:43.889 --> 00:05:45.574 There's two kinds. 00:05:45.574 --> 00:05:49.725 First of all, ignorance, unbelief caused by ignorance. 00:05:49.725 --> 00:05:54.680 And of course ignorance can be partial ignorance or can be total ignorance. 00:05:54.680 --> 00:05:59.088 And the cure for ignorance is what? 00:05:59.088 --> 00:05:59.269 Teaching. 00:05:59.269 --> 00:06:03.250 That's why Jesus went about the town's teaching. 00:06:03.250 --> 00:06:12.269 He responded not by being insulted, he didn't respond by taking it personally, he responded by teaching. 00:06:12.269 --> 00:06:21.357 They need teaching, they need to find out what God's Word says, and they need to know what God's Word says, they need to know about their covenant. 00:06:21.357 --> 00:06:26.141 And so I like what TL Osborne said one time. 00:06:26.141 --> 00:06:32.250 He said many of you are waiting until I quit teaching to get your healing and I'm waiting for you to get your healing so I can quit teaching. 00:06:35.415 --> 00:06:44.269 And so if ignorance is the reason for unbelief and ignorance is curable, then unbelief is curable. 00:06:44.269 --> 00:06:46.158 All unbelief is curable. 00:06:46.158 --> 00:06:48.250 Somebody that is an unbeliever can be a believer. 00:06:48.250 --> 00:06:51.269 I mean, that's just all there is to it. 00:06:51.269 --> 00:06:54.250 And we can't just snap our fingers sometimes and cure it. 00:06:54.250 --> 00:07:00.595 We have to keep teaching and teaching and preaching the Word of God, and that's what Jesus did. 00:07:00.595 --> 00:07:03.641 He went about teaching and preaching and healing, in that order. 00:07:04.951 --> 00:07:15.764 And so you know, if you can cure unbelief, you can cure anything, because unbelief is the absolute blockage of God's power to do anything. 00:07:15.764 --> 00:07:19.259 I mean, many people die of diseases. 00:07:19.259 --> 00:07:30.192 They die, you know, of accidental deaths, and all of that is curable when their believer starts kicking in, when they believe. 00:07:30.192 --> 00:07:47.250 When they believe they're led by the Spirit and the Spirit can speak to them and lead them in their daily lives, where they are on the Holy Ghost schedule that would deliver them from being in a place where there's a mass shooting or being in a pile up on the freeway where people are killed in a car wreck and so forth and so on. 00:07:47.250 --> 00:07:55.882 I'm telling you, the Holy Ghost knows everything and if you've got faith to follow Him, see that can keep you alive for a long time. 00:07:55.882 --> 00:08:00.338 It can help you to overcome sickness and disease your faith. 00:08:00.338 --> 00:08:08.523 So unbelief is curable, because ignorance is curable. 00:08:09.492 --> 00:08:16.502 And then the other part of unbelief is disobedience, stubbornness or inaction. 00:08:16.502 --> 00:08:23.050 You know, sometimes people do believe but they're just plain disobedient. 00:08:23.050 --> 00:08:25.418 They won't make the adjustments necessary. 00:08:25.418 --> 00:08:29.550 For instance, they're just bound and determined to carry a grudge. 00:08:29.550 --> 00:08:31.497 Well, when you carry a grudge, you block. 00:08:31.497 --> 00:08:36.429 You might believe that Jesus is your healer and you might believe everything the preacher's saying. 00:08:36.429 --> 00:08:45.889 But if you're gonna hang on to unforgiveness, well you're blocking God's power from healing you because you're putting up a roadblock. 00:08:45.889 --> 00:08:52.640 So you're carrying unforgiveness, which is a disobedience to the law of love. 00:08:52.640 --> 00:08:55.658 Some people are stubborn. 00:08:55.658 --> 00:08:57.029 They won't make adjustments. 00:08:57.029 --> 00:09:02.730 You know God can speak to you to make adjustments in your priorities in life. 00:09:02.730 --> 00:09:12.581 You know, a lot of times sickness is a result of just bad habits not getting enough rest, not eating correctly, you know so forth and so on. 00:09:12.581 --> 00:09:29.860 I don't wanna turn this into a health message, but we have our part to play, and many times that's our own disobedience or stubbornness or inaction that causes God's power not to be released. 00:09:31.403 --> 00:09:40.070 And so the children of Israel could not enter into the promised land. 00:09:40.070 --> 00:09:42.817 You know, god told them all about it. 00:09:42.817 --> 00:09:44.677 They saw what a great land it was. 00:09:44.677 --> 00:09:47.178 They saw how it flowed with milk and honey. 00:09:47.178 --> 00:09:52.258 Everything that God told them about the promised land was true, and they verified it. 00:09:52.258 --> 00:09:54.498 And yet they were too stubborn to go in. 00:09:54.498 --> 00:09:59.537 They just decided that they were more afraid of the giants than they were of God. 00:09:59.537 --> 00:10:03.740 They just were more afraid of the wall cities. 00:10:05.374 --> 00:10:06.496 And so what happened? 00:10:06.496 --> 00:10:13.275 Until you can get somebody, you know, until you can get somebody motivated to change their way of thinking and to change the way of acting. 00:10:13.275 --> 00:10:29.577 That's what's so great about a local church, because in a local church you've got believers around you, and when one believer sees another believer start to depart and do things that's uncharacteristic for them and having a bad confession, or they're acting up or they're acting out. 00:10:29.577 --> 00:10:32.636 You know, listen, brother, I love you enough to tell you the truth. 00:10:32.636 --> 00:10:33.639 Nobody tell you the truth. 00:10:33.639 --> 00:10:34.120 I love you. 00:10:34.120 --> 00:10:34.971 I just want to tell you. 00:10:34.971 --> 00:10:35.875 You know you need to change. 00:10:35.875 --> 00:10:44.736 You know it helps to have good, bible believing friends that will be patient with you and pray for you, but also speak the truth and love to you. 00:10:46.874 --> 00:10:52.559 And so the cure would be persuaded to obey and act on God's word. 00:10:52.559 --> 00:10:57.196 See, that would be the cure to that stubbornness or that disobedience. 00:10:57.196 --> 00:10:58.792 And so. 00:10:58.792 --> 00:11:01.801 But what had happened with Joshua and Caleb? 00:11:01.801 --> 00:11:03.375 Didn't they try to persuade? 00:11:03.375 --> 00:11:05.029 See, they got up and persuaded. 00:11:05.029 --> 00:11:07.437 Oh, come on, guys, you know better than that. 00:11:07.437 --> 00:11:08.932 I mean God. 00:11:08.932 --> 00:11:11.302 If God is with us, there's no problem. 00:11:11.302 --> 00:11:12.888 They're bread for us. 00:11:12.888 --> 00:11:14.513 Let's go up at once and take them. 00:11:14.513 --> 00:11:18.212 But they would not be persuaded, they wouldn't. 00:11:19.404 --> 00:11:25.457 And so it gets back to the fact that unbelief will just hinder God's power in your life. 00:11:25.457 --> 00:11:27.308 Unbelief has got to be stamped out. 00:11:27.308 --> 00:11:28.611 You know, faith moves God. 00:11:28.611 --> 00:11:33.333 I, like Smith Wigglesworth quote on this Faith moves God, faith moves mountains. 00:11:33.333 --> 00:11:36.264 But faith won't move anything until it moves you. 00:11:36.264 --> 00:11:38.693 And we have to move. 00:11:38.693 --> 00:11:43.913 First our mouth, our mouth, has got to start speaking words of faith, and then we've got to act. 00:11:43.913 --> 00:11:46.544 Like the Bible is true, there's always more than just speaking. 00:11:46.544 --> 00:11:54.945 We're going to have to act, we're going to have to move in a direction, and then we see that our faith is really being evidenced by our actions. 00:11:54.945 --> 00:11:57.614 That's what the true definition of faith is. 00:11:58.826 --> 00:12:03.264 All right, and then the second case, over in Matthew, where Jesus marveled. 00:12:03.264 --> 00:12:09.501 He marveled in the positive, with the faith of the centurion. 00:12:09.501 --> 00:12:18.092 And so, just to remind you, didn't read the verses, but you can go back and read them all the centurion had a servant sick at home of the palsy, which we know. 00:12:18.092 --> 00:12:20.039 The palsy was a terminal disease. 00:12:20.039 --> 00:12:22.287 There's no cure for it, no known cure. 00:12:22.287 --> 00:12:30.909 And he went to Jesus and and told him the situation, and Jesus said I will come and heal him. 00:12:30.909 --> 00:12:41.345 Oh no, lord, I, you're not, I'm not worthy that you should come under my roof, but speak the word only for my servant shall be healed because I am a man under authority. 00:12:41.524 --> 00:12:49.570 So here's a Roman centurion, and the first thing he talked about he says I have a boss, I am a man under authority. 00:12:49.570 --> 00:12:53.378 And when I say to this man, now he's start talking about his authority. 00:12:53.378 --> 00:13:08.018 See, he first had to say he was under authority and then he could say I know about authority, because when I say to this man, go when he goes and this man come and he comes into this man do it, do this, and he does it. 00:13:08.018 --> 00:13:09.524 Yeah, I understand authority. 00:13:09.524 --> 00:13:16.445 In other words, you couldn't be doing what you're doing unless you had the highest authority, god's own authority. 00:13:17.847 --> 00:13:24.162 And when Jesus heard that answer, he marveled, oh, he was so overjoyed. 00:13:24.162 --> 00:13:29.215 He said I have not found so great a faith no, not in Israel. 00:13:29.215 --> 00:13:36.395 And when he said that in front of all these witnesses, you have to understand, the Jews hated the Romans, they called them dogs. 00:13:36.395 --> 00:13:50.539 And and for him to elevate this, the Roman centurion, and to say that he hadn't found that kind of faith in Israel, well, you know, that was that punched the religious crowd right in the right in the belly. 00:13:50.539 --> 00:13:53.649 And Jesus was doing that quite often. 00:13:53.649 --> 00:13:59.605 He was often just poking the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the Wooden Seas, the Cudden Seas. 00:13:59.605 --> 00:14:06.157 He delighted in showing their, their unbelief to themselves. 00:14:06.157 --> 00:14:08.000 And he said you know. 00:14:08.466 --> 00:14:09.288 And then he goes on. 00:14:09.288 --> 00:14:10.313 We didn't read this part. 00:14:10.313 --> 00:14:24.167 He said I say unto you that many shall come from the east and west and sit sit down with Abraham, isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, but the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness and there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 00:14:24.167 --> 00:14:28.837 In other words, he's saying dead religion can't serve, can't save you. 00:14:28.837 --> 00:14:31.970 Dead religion cannot save you. 00:14:31.970 --> 00:14:35.519 And this is what he was sent. 00:14:35.519 --> 00:14:39.591 He was sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 00:14:39.591 --> 00:14:40.975 Many of them were lost. 00:14:40.975 --> 00:14:42.178 They're going to hell. 00:14:42.178 --> 00:14:43.201 Why? 00:14:43.201 --> 00:14:46.793 Because they had just turned back their back on God's word. 00:14:46.793 --> 00:14:57.905 They turned their back on the law and they were acted like they didn't have any, any wrong associated with them, because all their little rules that they seemingly obeyed. 00:14:59.006 --> 00:15:02.008 And so he was constantly confronting that Are you with me now?
