--> 00:01:21.228 But and he says but you will receive power after that. 00:01:21.228 --> 00:01:26.125 The Holy Ghost has come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto me. 00:01:26.125 --> 00:01:33.224 In Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth, you shall receive power. 00:01:33.224 --> 00:01:42.430 The passion translation says you will be seized with power, or it could working in that world, but the people that God is connecting us with, we are amazed to see how many of them are spirit filled, bible believing, excited, overflowing Holy Spirit Christians and they're motivated to. 00:03:12.304 --> 00:03:14.491 I'm telling you, they're saying I'm going to seize power. 00:03:15.719 --> 00:03:19.090 Jesus said the kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent take it by force. 00:03:19.090 --> 00:03:22.752 So we are can do people with God, we can do it. 00:03:22.752 --> 00:03:36.004 And then I want to remind you, in Matthew 28, 18, jesus spoke to them and he said all authority or power, all power or authority has been given unto me in heaven and earth. 00:03:36.004 --> 00:03:45.328 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. 00:03:45.328 --> 00:03:51.407 In other words, we're talking about the word here and we're helping people learn how to obey it and apply it in their lives. 00:03:51.407 --> 00:03:53.752 And God gave us that command. 00:03:53.752 --> 00:03:56.847 Jesus gave that to his disciples and everybody say I'm a disciple. 00:03:56.847 --> 00:04:00.253 So that means you can do that. 00:04:00.253 --> 00:04:08.584 And if he told you to do it, then you can do it and it says I am with you said that he started out all authority has been given unto me. 00:04:15.807 --> 00:04:18.399 So this is where I want to break this down Again. 00:04:18.420 --> 00:04:34.567 I I just want this is a primer for those of us who might be new, because my dad teaches so much about power and authority in the New Testament, and I know that he assumes that sometimes we know these things, but there are many words. 00:04:34.567 --> 00:04:47.689 You know the New Testament is what was written in Greek, and when the and in the Greek language, there are many different Greek word that all get translated to the word one word power in English. 00:04:47.689 --> 00:04:53.430 So when we read about the power of God in the Bible, we are reading wow, his power, his power, his power. 00:04:53.430 --> 00:04:59.329 Well, there are actually about seven different words that are translated power, but we're going to talk about two or maybe three. 00:04:59.329 --> 00:05:04.456 We might get to three of them tonight, and those two main words, though, that I want to get to for sure. 00:05:05.199 --> 00:05:09.252 We just read about the power that comes on us with the Holy Spirit. 00:05:09.252 --> 00:05:10.958 What kind of power is that? 00:05:10.958 --> 00:05:13.163 That's the Greek word doonimus. 00:05:13.163 --> 00:05:17.952 It's actually we say it doonimus, but it looks like dynamus with it. 00:05:17.952 --> 00:05:25.312 Why, I don't understand Greek, but that's the way it's spelled, and it is where we get our word dynamite. 00:05:25.312 --> 00:05:27.142 It's the kaboom of God. 00:05:27.142 --> 00:05:32.531 You shall receive kaboom when the Holy Ghost comes upon you. 00:05:32.531 --> 00:05:39.151 You shall seize it and use it for his glory, amen, and that. 00:05:39.151 --> 00:05:43.500 So the source of that kaboom power working in us is the Holy Ghost. 00:05:45.605 --> 00:05:54.872 And then there's the other word that we want to get to tonight exosia, which is also translated authority, and that's the one we just read about in Matthew 28, 18. 00:05:54.872 --> 00:06:00.370 All authority is given unto me and I want you to take my authority. 00:06:00.370 --> 00:06:11.584 Jesus said take his authority, and with that the source of that power that we all have as Christians, the source of that authority, whose authority are we operating under? 00:06:11.584 --> 00:06:13.468 Jesus authority? 00:06:13.468 --> 00:06:25.446 It comes from the name of Jesus, and you got that authority the minute you profess Jesus as your savior, the minute you stepped out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of light. 00:06:25.446 --> 00:06:39.805 You are now in the family of God, you carry the family name, you are Jesus's ambassador, representative on this earth, and you get to use his authority and there's power in that. 00:06:39.805 --> 00:06:46.502 So let's start there and just go and dig in to Jesus. 00:06:47.122 --> 00:06:47.625 Sends out. 00:06:47.625 --> 00:06:53.545 He's got his disciples and there is not even possible for them to be filled with the Holy Spirit yet. 00:06:53.545 --> 00:06:58.341 They just get to spend a lot of time one on one with Jesus and he's been pouring into them. 00:06:58.341 --> 00:07:02.249 And so then, in Luke 10, he sends them out. 00:07:02.249 --> 00:07:09.249 After these things, the Lord appointed 70 others also and sent them two by two. 00:07:09.249 --> 00:07:10.271 Did not send them alone. 00:07:10.271 --> 00:07:10.771 Notice that. 00:07:10.771 --> 00:07:12.482 He did not send them alone. 00:07:12.482 --> 00:07:17.295 He wanted them to have because there's power in numbers, right. 00:07:17.295 --> 00:07:26.281 He sent them two by two, before his face, into every city in place where he himself was about to go, and so they were his. 00:07:26.281 --> 00:07:30.110 So we see all the places Jesus went and the miracles that he did. 00:07:30.110 --> 00:07:31.793 But he had a warm-up team. 00:07:31.793 --> 00:07:35.504 He had an awesome warm-up team, and that's what we are. 00:07:35.504 --> 00:07:38.822 We're warming up the world right now for his second coming. 00:07:38.822 --> 00:07:40.809 Hallelujah, all right. 00:07:40.908 --> 00:07:48.533 And in that we have a certain and he gave them very specific instructions about what he wanted them to take. 00:07:48.533 --> 00:07:53.689 He said first of all, he said the harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few. 00:07:53.689 --> 00:07:55.656 So I want you to pray. 00:07:55.656 --> 00:08:03.103 The Lord of the harvest will send laborers into the harvest, and I want you to go your way, and you're going to be like lambs among wolves. 00:08:03.103 --> 00:08:11.906 And so he wanted them to be very peaceful, he wanted them to be very, and he wanted them to depend on God for their supply. 00:08:11.906 --> 00:08:14.452 And then he told them to heal the sick. 00:08:14.452 --> 00:08:17.687 The kingdom of God has come near to you. 00:08:18.009 --> 00:08:27.603 And so they went and they did that, and in verse 17, they came back with joy saying Lord, even the demons are subject to us, in your name, in your name. 00:08:27.603 --> 00:08:32.635 And he said to them I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 00:08:32.635 --> 00:08:35.705 Oh, demons, shmemons, I, they're already defeated. 00:08:35.705 --> 00:08:46.936 Jesus is saying they are already defeated, but hold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 00:08:46.936 --> 00:08:53.591 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this if the spirits are subject to you, but rather than rejoice that your names are written in heaven. 00:08:53.591 --> 00:08:57.451 And so to Jesus. 00:08:57.451 --> 00:08:59.956 It was no big deal to have authority over demons. 00:08:59.956 --> 00:09:02.451 Of course you have authority over demons. 00:09:02.451 --> 00:09:04.808 Satan fell, I saw it. 00:09:05.945 --> 00:09:09.414 We make a big deal out of deliverance ministries, make a big deal. 00:09:09.414 --> 00:09:13.115 Oh, there's a devil on her and him or whatever. 00:09:13.115 --> 00:09:15.452 Oh, they're the devil who can't. 00:09:15.452 --> 00:09:18.312 Jesus' name is so powerful. 00:09:18.312 --> 00:09:20.591 We make such a big deal out of the other side. you the authority. 00:09:38.831 --> 00:09:42.947 So I given you the exosia and exosia. 00:09:42.947 --> 00:09:46.956 The authority is like the police badge or like the king's crown. 00:09:46.956 --> 00:09:52.794 You have a crown of righteousness that fades, not away. 00:09:52.794 --> 00:09:57.674 Right, you have the crown, and the crown means you can make decrees. 00:09:57.674 --> 00:10:08.255 And so it says I'll give you authority to trample on the serpents and scorpions and over all the dunamis of the enemy. 00:10:08.255 --> 00:10:11.192 You know, the enemy also has explosive power. 00:10:11.192 --> 00:10:13.708 The enemy does have it. 00:10:13.708 --> 00:10:14.707 It's no big deal. 00:10:14.707 --> 00:10:19.548 Jesus said you ought to be trampling on it, and that's the word used. 00:10:19.548 --> 00:10:22.654 The same word, dunamis, is used here for the enemy's power. 00:10:22.654 --> 00:10:40.355 And so I just wanted to point that out, that we better have an equal and greater force of good and of the Holy Spirit than the world has on us. 00:10:40.355 --> 00:10:40.797 Amen. 00:10:41.684 --> 00:10:43.673 So that's why he gave us his dunamis. 00:10:43.673 --> it works. 00:10:52.817 --> 00:11:02.630 The disciples were able, just using the authority of the name of Jesus, they were able to do mighty wonders and it was exciting and the demons listened to them. 00:11:02.630 --> 00:11:05.190 But I think we have demons today. 00:11:05.190 --> 00:11:06.273 Sometimes they don't listen. 00:11:06.865 --> 00:11:19.873 Have you all noticed that we are wearing our crown of righteousness, we are operating in the authority of the name of Jesus, but the devil is a lawbreaker and he and we have lawbreakers in our society that are. 00:11:19.873 --> 00:11:21.336 We have people lawbreakers. 00:11:21.336 --> 00:11:23.350 We have demonic powers that are breaking laws. 00:11:23.350 --> 00:11:25.688 The people are just out. 00:11:25.688 --> 00:11:27.153 That's an outcropping. 00:11:27.153 --> 00:11:32.976 The lawlessness of our society is an outcropping of the lawless spirit in our world. 00:11:32.976 --> 00:11:35.130 Right, but we have authority over that. 00:11:35.130 --> 00:11:41.254 But when the devil does not listen to the authority of the name of Jesus, he has to bow his knee. 00:11:41.254 --> 00:11:41.576 He has to. 00:11:41.576 --> 00:11:56.597 But there are just powers that work against us and we've got to then pull out the dunamis of God, we've got to pull out the Holy Spirit, we've got to use all the weaponry at our disposal to defeat --> 00:12:30.113 Being found in appearance as a man, jesus humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 00:12:30.113 --> 00:12:36.076 Therefore, god has also highly exalted him, highly exalted. 00:12:36.076 --> 00:12:38.568 How did he get highly exalted? 00:12:38.568 --> 00:12:56.216 By completely getting the lowest of any human being ever has gotten, to be completely humiliated, to lay down all of his pride and human dignity, to be crucified as a criminal and executed in the worst manner. 00:12:56.216 --> 00:13:02.297 And so he and he took on that suffering as a redemption for us. 00:13:02.297 --> 00:13:06.815 And because of that, god made sure that he was not going to stay there. 00:13:06.815 --> 00:13:28.102 Instead, he highly exalted him and gave him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every, everyone say every knee, every knee should bow those in heaven and those on earth and those under the earth, three regions of authority. 00:13:28.102 --> 00:13:52.489 For the name of Jesus, everybody, everyone on earth, every demon under the earth, the devil himself, every angel, every person who's ever lived on the face of the earth, they all bow their knee at his name, so we ought to use his name and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 00:13:55.865 --> 00:14:16.837 --> 00:14:23.547 No, we pray the name of Jesus because there's it's not a magic word, it is. 00:14:23.547 --> 00:14:30.952 It is us tapping into, it's us knowing the authority in it,
