Part one was His life as a child and His growth, and of course that was a symbol of our growth spiritually. 00:00:52.960 --> 00:00:57.671 We are supposed to grow in wisdom and stature and have favor with God and man, like Jesus did. 00:00:57.671 --> 00:01:02.743 So we talked about that and then we talked about we're just like Jesus. 00:01:02.743 --> 00:01:04.811 In His mission. 00:01:04.811 --> 00:01:09.500 Jesus said he came to seek and save that which was lost. 00:01:09.500 --> 00:01:21.180 So we talked about what that word save meant salvation, wholeness that he brought to us, to the lost, and so we studied all about that, and His mission is our mission. 00:01:21.180 --> 00:01:24.091 And so tonight we're gonna get to. 00:01:24.091 --> 00:01:30.346 His passion is our passion, you know, because His mission, eventually, how did he seek and save the lost? 00:01:30.346 --> 00:01:35.519 He died on that cross and he did that in our place. 00:01:35.519 --> 00:01:37.126 He took our place there. 00:01:37.126 --> 00:01:41.079 We were there with Him when he did that. 00:01:41.079 --> 00:01:49.840 Therefore, his suffering filled up our cup of judgment that we earned, and yet he paid that penalty for us. 00:01:49.840 --> 00:02:01.260 So, but yeah, there is a passion in this life that we have to share with Him, and so we're gonna get into that tonight. 00:02:01.260 --> 00:02:03.900 And let's just go for our series Foundation Scriptures. 00:02:03.900 --> 00:02:05.439 We've got to be just like Jesus. 00:02:05.439 --> 00:02:13.900 We've got to be His image in this world, and so our Foundation Scriptures have been 1 John, chapter 4, verse 17. 00:02:13.900 --> 00:02:19.953 It says love has been perfected among us in this, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment. 00:02:19.953 --> 00:02:22.649 But it's the day of judgment, do y'all feel it out there? 00:02:22.649 --> 00:02:29.400 But because, as he is, listen to this, as he is, so are we in this world. 00:02:29.400 --> 00:02:35.137 We are His mouthpiece, we represent Jesus to this world. 00:02:35.137 --> 00:02:41.689 And then in Ephesians 5, it says, verse 1, therefore, be imitators of God as dear children. 00:02:41.689 --> 00:02:43.424 How many of you have kids. 00:02:43.424 --> 00:02:49.187 If you've ever had kids, you saw the way they imitated mom, you saw the way that they imitated dad. 00:02:49.187 --> 00:02:52.699 And that's the way we want to be with God. 00:02:52.699 --> 00:02:55.288 We want to imitate Him and walk in love. 00:02:55.288 --> 00:03:03.889 It says, as Christ has also loved us and given Himself for us and offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet, smelling aroma. 00:03:03.889 --> 00:03:07.819 And so that's the way that we want to imitate Jesus. 00:03:07.819 --> 00:03:16.479 We want to watch everything he does and everything he did do, and we want to just make the most of that at this time that we have been given. 00:03:16.479 --> 00:03:16.762 So. 00:03:16.762 --> 00:03:20.663 But tonight we're going to move on and talk about the passion of Jesus, because he did. 00:03:20.663 --> 00:03:26.366 He fulfilled His call on the cross and we're told. 00:03:26.366 --> 00:03:29.293 So our foundation for tonight, that scripture. 00:03:30.161 --> 00:03:32.840 Let me go to Luke, chapter 9, verse 23. 00:03:32.840 --> 00:03:39.042 He says to them all if anyone desires to come after me, that's me. 00:03:39.042 --> 00:03:41.049 I desire to come after Jesus. 00:03:41.049 --> 00:03:47.152 It says let Him deny Himself and take up His cross and follow me. 00:03:47.152 --> 00:03:50.151 And actually in verse 9, 23,. 00:03:50.151 --> 00:03:54.991 In this passage it says take up His cross daily and follow me. 00:03:54.991 --> 00:04:00.290 Ouch, it's not something we just did one time, a long time ago, and now it's over. 00:04:00.290 --> 00:04:03.810 It says to take up His cross daily and follow Him. 00:04:03.810 --> 00:04:12.872 And it says for whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it or find it. 00:04:12.872 --> 00:04:23.848 We find a true life, a joy for life and living, when we give our life for Him like he gave His life for us, amen. 00:04:23.848 --> 00:04:25.990 So that is about the passion. 00:04:25.990 --> 00:04:32.886 That word passion actually does mean the sufferings of Christ on the cross, so we're taking up His cross. 00:04:34.329 --> 00:04:45.146 When I'm talking about passion tonight, I'm talking about the suffering of Jesus on the cross, the cross being a symbol of death and humiliation, not a physical suffering. 00:04:45.146 --> 00:04:47.420 Now, jesus suffered already for us. 00:04:47.420 --> 00:04:54.257 He bore our sins and carried our sorrows and our griefs and our pains. 00:04:54.257 --> 00:04:58.855 In one version says in Isaiah and so we are not talking about physical pain, thank God. 00:04:58.855 --> 00:05:06.540 Jesus bore all of that on the cross and it's His desire and part of our covenant that we don't suffer physical pain. 00:05:06.540 --> 00:05:08.430 When we do, it is just. 00:05:08.430 --> 00:05:14.930 It is the devil unlawfully afflicting us with something that Jesus already bought away from us. 00:05:14.930 --> 00:05:22.379 And so we are learning how to stand on the word and kick physical pain and physical suffering out of our life. 00:05:22.379 --> 00:05:22.480 Amen. 00:05:24.142 --> 00:05:33.899 But the suffering of the cross is one of you know the disciples in Acts that says they rejoice that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. 00:05:33.899 --> 00:05:39.858 So the cross was a symbol of more than physical pain. 00:05:39.858 --> 00:05:54.771 It was a symbol of shame Because only the worst criminals, only the most hated or the most despised of all slave populations, only those people would be crucified. 00:05:54.771 --> 00:06:02.454 The Romans reserved that type of death for only the people that were just spit upon. 00:06:02.454 --> 00:06:07.767 And so for Jesus, the king of the world, to die on a cross. 00:06:07.767 --> 00:06:11.774 There was such an irony in that. 00:06:11.774 --> 00:06:20.055 And so that's the kind of, and there's a time when the devil will make you feel shame just for bearing the name of Jesus. 00:06:20.055 --> 00:06:21.543 And we're seeing that separation. 00:06:21.543 --> 00:06:23.310 It's just part of living in the end days. 00:06:23.680 --> 00:06:26.468 But let me dig into the meaning of the word passion. 00:06:26.468 --> 00:06:29.548 So it is the sufferings of Christ on the cross. 00:06:29.548 --> 00:06:35.408 It is any kind of martyr that suffers. 00:06:35.408 --> 00:06:38.574 That suffering of that martyr is called a passion. 00:06:38.574 --> 00:06:45.071 But of course it's a double meaning word, right, because it also means intense emotion, right. 00:06:45.071 --> 00:06:52.894 Fervor, zeal, ardor, just a burning, fiery love, passion. 00:06:52.894 --> 00:06:57.420 And then it can also mean ire and fury and wrath and rage. 00:06:57.420 --> 00:07:04.860 It can have that edge on it, that dark side, and what would be an opposite of passion. 00:07:04.860 --> 00:07:10.220 It would be something like apathy, right, and the devil likes to keep everybody asleep. 00:07:10.220 --> 00:07:17.771 That's why God told my dad a long time ago wake up the church People that he would like the devil would like to put a cloud of apathy over everyone. 00:07:17.771 --> 00:07:25.800 Just be asleep, just be watching our TV all the time, just be a zombie, not really alert to the things of God. 00:07:25.800 --> 00:07:34.214 But if we let ourself arise and be awake, we will have that zeal, that zeal that Jesus had. 00:07:36.242 --> 00:07:40.331 And if you really think about it, that zeal and that suffering are related. 00:07:40.331 --> 00:07:50.713 Because when you really love, I mean with a fiery, passionate love, the way God so loved the world John 3.16,. 00:07:50.713 --> 00:08:02.062 He's so loved, he's so loved that he went all the way out, he gave his only begotten son, he gave his very best. 00:08:02.062 --> 00:08:07.165 And so passion, fiery love and ardor and zeal. 00:08:07.165 --> 00:08:11.244 It has that level of sacrifice. 00:08:11.244 --> 00:08:43.519 You will go to the ends of the world, of the earth, and there is fire, and there I mean so there is an emotional component, but in human emotions there is one level and then in spiritual, the way the spirit works, god is a spirit, he's not an emotion, and so there is a true passion, a righteous indignation, a righteous love, a righteous, holy passion that could come upon us Like that's the passion that motivated Jesus and anything for the benefit of the object of your passion, and then you will come against in wrath and anger and all fire and hell and damnation on the, anything that comes against or threatens to --> 00:15:52.662 You know when they scream and then they jump around the cage and they fly everywhere and he was destroying things in his room. 00:15:52.662 --> 00:16:03.224 He was in a complete blind rage because somebody separated him from the object of his passion, which was that video game Totally demonic, weird, sick, sad. 00:16:03.224 --> 00:16:08.547 But there's a zeal there. 00:16:08.547 --> 00:16:10.081 What are we zealous about? 00:16:10.081 --> 00:16:12.142 Are we zealous for the things of God? 00:16:12.142 --> 00:16:17.186 And so that zeal will lead us to do the will of God. Jesus. 00:16:26.724 --> 00:16:40.405 We look to Jesus, the author and finish of our faith, who, for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame. 00:16:40.405 --> endure anything, and even separation from the heavenly father for that time, because he knew it would pay off. 00:17:03.904 --> 00:17:11.506 He knew it would unite him with the object of his passion, passion, passion. 00:18:07.462 --> 00:18:18.463 Now the mom wrenched her ACL, just wrenched her knee, just messed up her ankle really bad, just completely was incapacitated. 00:18:18.463 --> 00:18:25.924 But that baby was cradled in that dangerous situation because the mom sacrificed herself. 00:18:25.924 --> 00:18:32.337 She did anything it took to keep that baby in a cocoon down those
