and obedience, and so it really blessed me and I know it'll bless you if you just go back and watch that later on. 00:01:49.746 --> 00:01:53.322 But one of the biggest points that she made, that made that hit me. 00:01:53.322 --> 00:01:56.710 She was talking about during difficult times and in war. 00:01:56.710 --> 00:02:08.582 You know, in physical wars it uh, during war, men bond and they develop relationships and it creates a bond of trust that last, that lasts a lifetime. 00:02:08.582 --> 00:02:09.245 It really does. 00:02:09.245 --> 00:02:16.068 And so, uh, you know, when the chips are down and things are difficult, the church bands together and there's unity. 00:02:16.068 --> 00:02:24.060 And my dad likes to say it uh like this equation, an equation that he received years ago love plus unity equals miracles. 00:02:24.060 --> 00:02:37.826 So we know, in these last days, as we continue to use God's love to to love on each other and stay in unity under the power of the Holy ghost, we can experience an atmosphere of miracles, amen. 00:02:37.826 --> 00:02:41.766 And so, with that in mind, if you'll turn to acts, chapter three. 00:02:43.564 --> 00:02:45.572 I got a message and title for you tonight. 00:02:45.572 --> 00:02:50.311 What you got, what you got, and so we'll start. 00:02:50.311 --> 00:02:53.878 Uh, acts three, one I'm going to read out of the amplified Bible. 00:02:53.878 --> 00:02:59.290 That's the girl's version of the Bible, the women's version, because it's nice and wordy. 00:02:59.290 --> 00:03:01.000 And, uh, nobody's here really to laugh at my says now, peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour of the day, three o'clock in the afternoon, and Claire made this point yesterday, um, that this is something that they did every day. 00:03:29.979 --> 00:03:37.534 And so she was saying that, uh, you know, if you complain about going to church once a week, on a Sunday, they were going to church every day. 00:03:37.534 --> 00:03:44.919 And so here they were, peter and John, making the same trek to church, uh, that they do every day. 00:03:44.919 --> 00:03:51.979 And in verse two, when a certain man that's why he was a certain man they, they passed him before they knew who he was. 00:03:51.979 --> 00:04:01.000 He was crippled from his birth, was being carried along, who was laid each day at the gate of in the temple, which was called beautiful. 00:04:01.000 --> 00:04:07.829 The gate was called beautiful so that he might beg for charitable gifts from those who entered the temple. 00:04:07.829 --> 00:04:19.771 And when he saw the lame man, when he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them to give him a gift. 00:04:19.771 --> 00:04:24.115 He asked them what you got? 00:04:24.115 --> 00:04:31.687 What you got for me, peter, what you got for me, john, john and uh, and Peter and John about to go in the. 00:04:31.687 --> 00:04:32.230 They asked him. 00:04:32.230 --> 00:04:44.324 First floor, and Peter directed his gaze intently at him and so did John, and Peter said look at us Now. 00:04:44.365 --> 00:04:51.336 I know, several months ago, I was reading this, maybe sometime last summer, and I had a blonde moment for a second and I was. 00:04:51.336 --> 00:04:58.920 I wondered why Peter was asking a blind man to look at him, and then I realized, oh, he's not blind, he's just he's lame. 00:04:58.920 --> 00:05:13.163 And so, anyways, but picturing yourself this man that's paralyzed, that has to be carried every day to the temple, the temple gate, in order to beg. 00:05:13.163 --> 00:05:14.990 Imagine what that was like for him. 00:05:14.990 --> 00:05:35.468 Put yourself in his shoes for a moment and realize how demeaning that was, that he was spit upon, that he was ignored, that he was made fun of, that he might have been bullied, but every day somebody had to carry him down there in order for him to make a living, in order for him to beg for a living. 00:05:35.468 --> 00:05:47.439 And so my first point that I wanted to point out here is that in verse three I should have underlined these. 00:05:47.620 --> 00:05:53.846 But basically, all of these different a meaning of the word look, they're all different in the Greek. 00:05:53.846 --> 00:06:07.225 So Peter, directing his gaze at him, he didn't just notice him, he was looking on the inside of him, he could see through him. 00:06:07.225 --> 00:06:18.266 In other words, he could see through the outward appearance and he could look into the heart of the lame man, into his soul, into his spirit. 00:06:18.266 --> 00:06:31.733 He didn't just see the lameness on the outside, he didn't just see the paralyzed man laying there, he looked into him and then he says look at us. 00:06:31.733 --> 00:06:39.331 And that look is a different Greek word and that means, it basically means to feel us. 00:06:39.331 --> 00:06:50.908 In other words, I'm not just gonna say words, I'm about, in other words, pay attention, because I'm about to say something that's gonna change your life forever. 00:06:50.908 --> 00:07:17.228 That's what that look means, and so it's just sometimes you wanna, when you're studying the Bible, it's good to get a Greek concordance out so you can really dig down deep and know that all of these different looks and fasten their gaze upon him, all of those have different meanings and even the man paid attention to them, expecting that he was gonna get something from them. 00:07:17.228 --> 00:07:23.146 That just means to notice, to pay attention to or notice. 00:07:23.146 --> 00:07:25.228 So that was how to different meaning. 00:07:25.228 --> 00:07:27.848 And yet it's a similar word in the King James version. 00:07:27.848 --> 00:07:30.488 So, anyways, we get past all of that. 00:07:30.680 --> 00:07:31.644 And what does Peter say? 00:07:31.644 --> 00:07:44.649 Verse six Peter says silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have, that I give to you in the name of Jesus Christ, of Nazareth walk. 00:07:44.649 --> 00:07:58.307 And so I'd like to just point out first of all that again this definition in the Amplify in the Greek, peter's not saying I don't have any money, I'm poor. 00:07:58.307 --> 00:07:59.682 Woe is me. 00:07:59.682 --> 00:08:02.826 He's saying no, I just, I don't have any change on me. 00:08:03.860 --> 00:08:09.367 And you say no, the disciples in the early days of the church, they were broke. 00:08:09.367 --> 00:08:13.029 No, it goes on in the previous chapter. 00:08:13.029 --> 00:08:21.910 It talks about they had all their needs met, that they banded together everything that they had and no one went without. 00:08:21.910 --> 00:08:23.163 No one went without. 00:08:23.163 --> 00:08:24.146 No one had a need. 00:08:24.146 --> 00:08:31.463 And then at the end, towards the end of the next chapter and chapter four, it goes on in a different way, explaining that. 00:08:31.463 --> 00:08:35.524 And so, no, it wasn't that Peter was poor or that John was poor. 00:08:35.524 --> 00:08:38.126 No, they had money, they had more than enough. 00:08:38.126 --> 00:08:41.750 But number one, he's meeting this man's need. 00:08:41.750 --> 00:08:50.285 This man did not have a money problem, he needed the power of the Holy Ghost that was on the inside of Peter. 00:08:50.285 --> 00:08:50.726 Amen. 00:08:50.726 --> 00:08:52.812 And what did he tell him? 00:08:52.812 --> 00:08:54.706 He said rise up and walk. 00:08:54.706 --> 00:09:08.426 Then he took hold of the man's right hand and, with a firm grip, and raised him up and at once his feet and his ankle bones became strong and steady. 00:09:08.426 --> 00:09:09.529 Amen. 00:09:09.659 --> 00:09:12.265 So let's just break that down for a little bit. 00:09:12.265 --> 00:09:15.493 What you got? 00:09:15.493 --> 00:09:17.988 You know, silver and gold have I none. 00:09:17.988 --> 00:09:20.386 But what I do have, give I thee. 00:09:20.386 --> 00:09:21.089 What do you got? 00:09:21.089 --> 00:09:25.168 What you got, you've got the power of the Holy Ghost. 00:09:25.168 --> 00:09:26.183 What did Peter have? 00:09:26.183 --> 00:09:32.807 He had healing power, the power of Jesus on the inside of him he was able to share. 00:09:32.807 --> 00:09:35.888 That changed this man's life forever. 00:09:35.888 --> 00:09:43.288 So again, as we're going over this story, don't just look at yourself as the lame man. 00:09:43.288 --> 00:09:46.208 Look at yourself as Peter and John. 00:09:46.208 --> 00:09:58.128 Full of the Holy Ghost able, they had a revelation of who they were in Christ, and that's what they were sharing with this man, not just healing power. 00:09:58.128 --> 00:09:58.990 We're gonna get into that. 00:09:58.990 --> 00:10:07.910 I'm gonna make some points here that go well beyond healing, and so let's so things to notice. 00:10:08.179 --> 00:10:14.068 Then he took hold of the man's right hand and with a firm grip, he raised him up. 00:10:14.068 --> 00:10:22.804 So right there, you can get several points out of this one verse just by looking at what Peter did not do. 00:10:22.804 --> 00:10:29.081 You know, for all the social justice warriors out there, this is what Peter did not do, did Peter? 00:10:29.081 --> 00:10:38.370 You know there's such a huge cry for empathy. 00:10:38.370 --> 00:10:39.241 Oh, you just. 00:10:39.241 --> 00:10:51.941 Everyone needs more empathy, and we were going through a situation a few months ago and I ended up shouting at the top of my lungs Jesus wasn't moved by empathy, he was moved with compassion, and I was. 00:10:51.941 --> 00:10:56.804 It kind of surprised me that I even yelled that and I was like wait, am I right? 00:10:56.804 --> 00:10:57.508 Was that right? 00:10:57.508 --> 00:11:03.870 And I had to go back and study the differences between empathy and compassion. 00:11:03.870 --> 00:11:10.384 And so empathy is living vicariously through someone's emotional state. 00:11:10.384 --> 00:11:12.907 And so Peter did not do that. 00:11:13.059 --> 00:11:18.827 Peter did not bend down and show empathy meaning oh you poor thing. 00:11:18.827 --> 00:11:21.006 What was it like to be spit on. 00:11:21.006 --> 00:11:23.067 What was it like to be ignored. 00:11:23.067 --> 00:11:28.807 What was it like all those times you asked for money and nobody ever gave you Jack squat nothing. 00:11:28.807 --> 00:11:31.166 Or Diddley squat nothing. 00:11:31.166 --> 00:11:35.350 You have problems with both the squat brothers. 00:11:35.350 --> 00:11:35.841 You know that. 00:11:35.841 --> 00:11:41.686 Just no, he didn't get down on his level and he didn't show empathy. 00:11:41.686 --> 00:11:45.308 He showed compassion, just like Jesus did. 00:11:45.860 --> 00:11:48.388 The word compassion means to be sympathetic. 00:11:48.388 --> 00:11:58.562 A sympathetic consciousness of others distresses with the answer or the power to alleviate it. 00:11:58.562 --> 00:12:01.869 You have compassion on the inside of you. 00:12:01.869 --> 00:12:04.923 The love of God has been shed abroad in your heart. 00:12:04.923 --> 00:12:06.606 You have compassion. 00:12:06.606 --> 00:12:13.171 That means you have the power to alleviate all the mess that people have gone through. 00:12:13.171 --> 00:12:16.038 The blood of Jesus is More than enough. 00:12:16.038 --> 00:12:16.520 Amen. 00:12:16.520 --> 00:12:27.048 The blood of Jesus can take, can take the hardest cases, the most abused person, and make them whole again, make them well again, amen. 00:12:27.629 --> 00:12:32.004 And I just wanted you to notice what Peter did in verse 7. 00:12:32.004 --> 00:12:43.150 He Remained in a standing position and he bent over just slightly, grabbed his right hand and raised him up to his level. 00:12:43.150 --> 00:12:51.407 So in other words, we are seated with Christ and you say, jay, you're talking about standing and you're talking about sitting and you're. 00:12:51.407 --> 00:12:55.302 You're mixing up your Analogies and I just don't know if those work. 00:12:55.302 --> 00:12:56.846 Just hear me out real quick. 00:12:56.846 --> 00:13:01.551 He's standing in authority, peter is standing in authority. 00:13:01.551 --> 00:13:15.970 He did not bend down, he did not go off a camera when I do that, but he did not just squat down, he stayed in his standing authority and pulled that lame man up into his position. 00:13:15.970 --> 00:13:19.541 So that changed this man's position forever. 00:13:19.541 --> 00:13:23.729 And I want you to, I want you to watch what happens in the next few verses. 00:13:25.235 --> 00:13:30.418 You know, in verse 7 that man, immediately Peter, stayed up. 00:13:30.418 --> 00:13:40.280 He didn't bend down again, he stayed in his place of authority and he pulled that man up right into his realm, right into his realm of authority. 00:13:40.280 --> 00:13:42.086 And so let's see what happens. 00:13:42.086 --> 00:13:47.524 And, leaping forth, the man stood and began to walk and he went. 00:13:47.524 --> 00:13:53.364 He went into the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. 00:13:53.364 --> 00:13:56.254 And so like I know exactly what it just said. 00:13:56.254 --> 00:14:11.464 But I Get this mixed up with another testimony of Jesus in the Gospels, where the man went off into the village walking and leaping and praising God and he went away From no, no, he went into the temple with them. 00:14:12.144 --> 00:14:14.289 So in other words, here's a man. 00:14:14.289 --> 00:14:18.365 We don't know this, but I don't think he'd ever been inside the temple before. 00:14:18.365 --> 00:14:21.239 You can't prove me wrong. 00:14:21.239 --> 00:14:22.662 So you can try if you want to. 00:14:22.662 --> 00:14:24.847 But but you can't prove me wrong. 00:14:24.847 --> 00:14:27.543 He'd never been in the temple before. 00:14:27.543 --> 00:14:35.465 And here, right after he received Strength into his legs, he received he's no longer paralyzed. 00:14:35.465 --> 00:14:37.788 And people think, hey, that's the miracle. 00:14:37.788 --> 00:14:42.034 Hey, he's no longer paralyzed, that's just the beginning of the miracle, amen. 00:14:42.034 --> 00:14:52.629 And so he went into the temple with them At verse 9, and all the people saw him walking about and praising God. 00:14:53.056 --> 00:14:55.182 He's rejoicing at the top of his lungs. 00:14:55.182 --> 00:15:02.182 In other words, in an instant, in a moment, he has a revelation of who God is, of who Jesus is. 00:15:02.182 --> 00:15:02.583 Amen. 00:15:02.583 --> 00:15:03.284 At verse 10. 00:15:03.284 --> 00:15:06.918 And they recognized him, the, the men of Israel. 00:15:06.918 --> 00:15:18.460 They recognized him as the man who usually sat begging for alms at the beautiful gate of the temple and they were filled with wonder and amazement and bewilderment Over what had occurred to him. 00:15:18.460 --> 00:15:33.057 Now, while he is still firmly clung to Peter and John, all the people, and utmost amazement, ran together and crowded around them in the covered porch or the walkway called Solomon's. 00:15:33.057 --> 00:15:34.822 So this was Solomon's porch. 00:15:35.443 --> 00:15:39.383 But see, I Ran right by an important part. 00:15:39.383 --> 00:15:47.033 See, when you're reading the Bible, it's good to just stop and meditate on it and get every point out that you can possibly get. 00:15:47.033 --> 00:16:04.062 And so, right there in the verse 11 now, while the man still firmly clung to Peter and John, you know there's a lot of pastors and there's a lot of people who who think that they're amazing Christians that wouldn't allow that man to cling to them. 00:16:04.062 --> 00:16:06.989 They would think he's too clingy, he's too needy. about. 00:16:29.118 --> 00:16:29.379 It's. 00:16:29.379 --> 00:16:35.450 It's about allowing people that are new to the Lord to cling to you, to lean on you. 00:16:35.450 --> 00:16:40.461 Some people volunteer event this last Saturday and our volunteers got to vote on all kinds of different categories of you. 00:16:59.469 --> 00:17:07.713 Know who encourages you the most, and so on and so forth, but the one that has that we've seen the most growth in by far. 00:17:07.713 --> 00:17:11.145 Like 90 plus percent of the people voted for Tara. 00:17:11.145 --> 00:17:19.634 She's just amazing how far in the 10 or more years that she's come here, how far she's come in that amount of time. 00:17:19.634 --> 00:17:23.528 And I'm telling you we literally could throw her the keys to the building. teachers in our leadership classes here recently and taught all about Israel and it was really powerful. 00:17:46.131 --> 00:17:55.750 I heard I wasn't part of that class, but I know I've heard her teach on Israel and the youth before and she's an amazing young woman of God and so. 00:17:56.634 --> 00:18:02.070 But when she first got here, all of our staff, we had to allow her to cling to us. 00:18:02.070 --> 00:18:05.103 She just was a little clingy, she was a little needy. 00:18:05.103 --> 00:18:18.077 She would call the office I'm still talking about you, tara, in a good way how y'all doing Glad to have you and so she was a little clingy, she was a little needy, just a little bit. 00:18:18.077 --> 00:18:19.047 When she first got here. 00:18:19.047 --> 00:18:25.249 She'd call the office every day, maybe every other day, and she just needed some extra attention. 00:18:25.249 --> 00:18:27.012 She just needed some extra help. 00:18:27.012 --> 00:18:28.196 But we were there. 00:18:28.196 --> 00:18:29.007 We helped her. 00:18:29.007 --> 00:18:32.236 We allowed her to cling to us. 00:18:32.236 --> 00:18:40.252 We didn't push her away we'd all get away from us, or we didn't delegate it down to another person. 00:18:40.252 --> 00:18:50.184 No, we allowed her to establish a relationship here in the church and we poured into her and hardly any of it leaked out. 00:18:50.184 what does Peter do here? 00:19:39.633 --> 00:19:41.036 He begins to preach a sermon. 00:19:41.036 --> 00:19:46.339 So where is the healed man now, while Peter is preaching? 00:19:46.339 --> 00:19:47.363 Where's this healed man? 00:19:47.363 --> 00:19:49.087 He's still clinging to him. 00:19:49.749 --> 00:19:54.238 And again we're in Acts, chapter 3, verse 13, and again Peter's preaching. 00:19:54.238 --> 00:20:07.807 He says the God of Abraham, isaac and Jacob, the God of our forefathers, has glorified a servant and a son whom you indeed delivered up and denied and rejected and disowned in the presence of Pilate. 00:20:07.807 --> 00:20:25.414 So again Peter is talking to the men of Israel, and they're important men, they're men of the government, they're men of and we'll see that later on they're men, the highest religious and highest political leaders in Israel. 00:20:25.414 --> 00:20:32.374 And Peter is not holding anything back, he's letting them have it with both hands. 00:20:32.374 --> 00:20:33.876 Right verse 14,. 00:20:33.876 --> 00:20:37.411 But you denied and rejected and disowned the pure and holy one. 00:20:37.411 --> 00:20:38.614 Verse 15,. 00:20:38.614 --> 00:20:43.971 But you killed the very source, the author of life, whom God raised from the dead. 00:20:43.971 --> 00:20:46.195 To this we are witnesses. 00:20:46.777 --> 00:20:47.438 Verse 16,. 00:20:47.438 --> 00:20:58.532 And his name, through and by faith in his name, talking about the name of Jesus, has made this man, whom you see and recognize well, strong. 00:20:58.532 --> verse 1,. 00:22:33.012 --> 00:22:44.451 And while they, peter and John, were talking to the people, the high priests and the military commander of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them. 00:23:15.925 They come up and what being vexed and indignant that means they're really thoroughly mad says indignant through and through because they were teaching the people and proclaiming Jesus the was reading this story of not that long ago again and I realized something that I don't think I'd realized before. 00:23:47.049 --> 00:23:50.953 It doesn't say anything about the healed man going unfettered eloquence of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and untrained in schools in other words, they were just common men with no education or no advantages they marveled. 00:30:40.954 In other words, they recognized this was real, they recognized it, they recognized the power that Jesus left them, they recognized the authority that Peter and John were both operating in and again, it doesn't say this, but because the man was healed, was still there clinging to them, they recognized that power through him as well, because of his testimony. 00:30:40.954 -->
