Dr. Jason Yuan (00:00)
My Namaste everyone. Welcome to the Pranic Healing Podcast. On this episode, the topic of inspiration is spreading the teachings of pranic healing through service. And our esteemed guest today is Raj Nair. Raj is a certified pranic psychotherapist serving Southeast Asia and Singapore. And Raj has an extensive history and experience in pranic healing. So I'm so happy for Raj to be here today.

So please welcome Raj.

Raaj Nair (00:32)
Hey Dr. Jason, to have you. Atman Namaste.

Dr. Jason Yuan (00:36)
Manamaste. And, you know, it's been such a pleasure to speak with you and communicate, you know, in this process of setting up the podcast, Raj. And, you know, I think the inspiration for this topic really came about, again, our exploration in setting up this conversation. And, you know, before I begin for the audience, Raj, how did you kind of get inspired to become part of pranic healing? Because the work that you're doing nowadays is so

You know, again, the one where I describe it is so inspired where you're doing so much service. But how did that first get started for you?

Raaj Nair (01:14)
Okay, so I actually am a designer, a fashion designer by profession. I studied in Italy and I worked partially between Italy and Singapore and later on India and Thailand. So around 2008, my dad had passed on and I was sort of in limbo, you know, like trying to find myself and also my professional self as well as my personal self. And I think it was...

during that period of time that I sort of met my friend who just living nearby to where I am. And she said, know, have you ever heard of pranic healing? There is this lady, she does pranic healing. You know, would you be interested to just try it out? I said, yeah, at this point, I'll just give it anything a shot. And she did what was, she was trying to do healing for me for prosperity. And

It was sort of like going on and off and I wasn't, it went well, but I wasn't also not too convinced. And then like a couple of months after that, she was saying, you know, there is this talk in the Center for Inner Studies in Singapore, why don't you come for it? And I went for one of the sessions and I sort of enjoyed it. And I initially just came into the center.

as a volunteer, know, like whenever they needed some help with decorations or whatever, I would do it. And later on, the center manager then said, you know, would you be interested in taking up any of the courses? I said, sure. And the first course that I actually attended was Master Trust, Achieving Oneness with a Higher Soul. And when I took it, I took the class. I appreciated the class, but I didn't understand the impact it would have on my life. Then, like several months down the road,

The next class that happened was the basic pranic healing class. And again, the center manager was asking, would you be interested in taking it? And I said, sure. But the minute I took the class, just felt like it's something that I had done before. so it was a basic master choice, basic pranic healing, then advanced pranic healing and pranic psychotherapy and all the other classes. And Singapore was just preparing for the Singapore convention then. And I was roped in to be a volunteer and things just started to.

go very quickly from there. And yeah, I kept practicing. I kept doing healing on myself. And I actually enjoyed the healing. I went for lots of healing camps. And that's how the whole healing journey started. I still maintained working for myself as a designer. I did uniforms for hotels. But at the same time, I would volunteer as a healer during healing camps.

in 20... Am I rambling on too much? It's okay.

Dr. Jason Yuan (04:12)
Mm.

No, no, this is this is perfect. I'll just kind of jump in right in here because it's it's so amazing because the theme of this podcast is inspired action to service. And it's so interesting what I what I hear from your story. It sounds like you you were volunteering at the center for decorations before you even took the course. That's something I notice. And, you know, for most people, you know, for most people already in product healing, that's something you do if you're already part.

Raaj Nair (04:36)
Yes. Yes.

Dr. Jason Yuan (04:44)
You know, you've taken prana healing, you've had some years in there, yeah.

Raaj Nair (04:45)
Yeah.

to credit to Shoba, was my friend that introduced me to Pranic Healing because it was her that said, you know, why don't you help? You have a knack for flower decorations. We need someone to help with flower decorations. And why don't you help us with that? So I did that. So it was her idea to get me involved through service. I think later on when the certification program started, and this was in

19, I, through the Center for Pranic Healing in Singapore, I decided to take it up and I completed it. And then after which I wanted to do my certified pranic healing certification, which was I decided I wanted to take a different path. And I approached the Center for Pranic Healing USA, which is under Master Glenn. that's how I met the late Cynthia De Leon.

It just got me very inspired, you know, because I saw how she's a person that was her diary was completely full. Her work diary was completely full. Her professional diary was completely full and she was doing service, teaching, being a mentor. And I was like, wow, how does she do it and still be so calm? And and then I was like, OK, I completed that. Then I decided I wanted to be

Dr. Jason Yuan (06:12)
Yes.

Raaj Nair (06:18)
a certified chronic psychotherapist. And that was when COVID was happening. And I decided that I would like to start my own pod. I knew there were other pods going on, but I decided that I wanted to start my own pod and healing COVID patients in Singapore. And I approached Marianne Chung about this and she said, yeah, just go through an orientation program. And I did, and I got a few healers to join me.

from Singapore and also overseas. And we really started healing a lot of patients from Singapore as well as overseas. And I really enjoyed the, you know, we couldn't go out because for most countries we couldn't go out and interact. And it was basically doing service via Zoom. And that got most of us inspired to stay on till today. We don't call it the COVID part because we obviously don't want to be stuck by that label.

We just call it the healing pot. we do service still, but now our focus is shifted to children with autism or the autism spectrum.

Dr. Jason Yuan (07:26)
Wow, that's so beautiful there that the evolution of again, surface it sounds like, know, since starting off in the beginning, like I mentioned, just helping out with decorations to leading this healing pod, which was so pivotal, you know, during COVID and now transitioning to what it sounds like working on people with autism, right, which is definitely an area of great need. Yeah, yeah, children with autism.

Raaj Nair (07:52)
Children with autism.

Dr. Jason Yuan (07:56)
And you know, you mentioned Cynthia DeLeon, you know, I had the opportunity to not only be instructed by Cynthia, but Cynthia was both of our mentors as well. And, you know, she was such a inspiration too. And I find that it connects to, again, the topic of this podcast, which is all about service. And, you know, I wanted to help the people in the audience understand because we talk about service as product killers.

so liberally, right? But for the folks that don't understand, know, why are you guys talking about service so much? Why is it so important? Raj, from your experience, can you help us understand for those not familiar with chronic healing, why is doing service so important? And why is it, I guess, so natural for you now?

Raaj Nair (08:49)
doing service is important for me because as Master Chua mentions, it is in giving energy that you receive energy. And I feel that whenever, you know, when you have your own life challenges and you pivot your attention to some, helping someone else or helping a cause which has been going on to help others, then you don't focus so much on yourself and your problems.

but also trying to help others with their problems. And in doing so, your problems get solved. I think before this, just before you started the podcast, I mentioned to you that I do help to raise funds for an orphanage in Thailand. And this was going on since 2014. And I really, really, really have to credit Master Chua and mentioning pillar four, which is service and tithing. You know, because...

had he not mentioned that I would have been going to Thailand for my frequent visits just to have food and entertainment and be social with friends and not even think along the lines of service. In 2014, there was a major flood that happened in Thailand. This had gone all the way on to Bangkok. And when Master Chua was talking about service, I was always inspired to try and find an outlet to help an orphanage. But you know, I couldn't find something in Singapore.

Googled orphanage in Thailand and I found this orphanage. And I was telling my friend, you know, we go to Thailand very often, we should try and do something for the Thai people. And he said, sure, we are going for a few days, why don't you try and raise funds? And I will try and raise funds. And within like a span of a week or week and a half, both of us managed to raise total of 3000, 3005 or $3 ,000.

to bring to the orphanage. And I remember the face of the director of the orphanage. She was like, you have no idea how much this money is going to help me for my children. Because, you know, when they get donations, it's basically donations like diapers, rice, things that can't really be used to pay for your bills and medicines for the children and for the upkeep of the orphanage of the, you know.

But the money that we had given her, she was almost teary -eyed. And I remembered that face. And I was like, I would like to continue. I'm not sure how I can continue, but I would like to continue. And I didn't make a commitment to her, but I did make it internally with myself. And through my friend Shobha, who introduced me to Pranic Healy, we went in and we started doing the monthly donations.

Later on, she decided she wanted to do something else and I just continued forward with it. And we've gone on to raise funds every month for this orphanage. And you know, this orphanage is a wonderful thing. This is where they have been very selfless. They can be focused on receiving money and just focusing it on the running of the orphanage. But this is an orphanage which goes out of the our territory, which is Bangkok. And the

look out for schools which are run by refugee for refugee kids and who have to walk 10 kilometers back and forth to just attend school from their homes. And sometimes through this opportunity, we also try and raise funds for bicycles so that the kids can go from, you know, from their home to safely to school and also help to run errands for their parents if needed. So

That has been going on, but I always try to tell my donors who I have a strong base of donors here in Singapore, that let's keep the orphanage as the principal focus and the donor bicycles as a secondary focus. And to get back to you why it's important, because when I do this and I notice how things in my life have changed, when I do service, it automatically, I don't want to talk about karma because I don't know where karma begins and I don't know where karma ends. But

I just noticed that things start to, there's always a helping hand for me, you know, when I need it or when I'm feeling a little bit lost. There's always an helping hand and I'm sure this has something to do with the service that's being done.

Dr. Jason Yuan (13:24)
Yeah, wow. You know, when you say that, Raj, I'm just imagining these kids instead of walking 10 kilometers, right, and actually biking 10 kilometers, you know, which is a lot easier. I mean, I can't even imagine walking 10 kilometers. That's like more than six miles just to go to and from school. So, you know, that that's such a yeah, such a really deeply touching story. And

And the efforts that you've continued for, yeah, it seems like, you know, over 10 years, which, to your point, you said you member that that woman's face, how deeply touched she was with the money, right. And not just physical donations of food or medicines like that. you know, and I totally, totally understand where you're coming from, because, you know, I think those moments are very priceless and those opportunities only come.

from doing service out of your heart. it's almost like you're getting paid to do it, but it's so rewarding in so many different ways. And like you said, pillar number four, which is service and tithing in part of Master Chou's Arhatic Yoga, which is basically character development. And it is a big part, and it is a big part of what we do as well. And it's such an amazing system, and it's so amazing to see you doing this as well.

you of course, you're the highlight of many other people around the world, product killers that are doing this. So I'm really grateful for you sharing that because that that definitely inspired me. And you you spoke about, you know, why we we do service, right. And you talked about karma, right. And again, karma is something we do. We do talk about in product healing in terms of the healing sense, right. Sometimes we understand that

Physical diseases might have a certain component related to karma, but also, like you mentioned, when you're struggling in life, right, when you have some big challenges going on, instead of, you know, just working on yourself and like healing yourself and just trying to get yourself better. It seems like almost the faster way to do it is also to incorporate service as part of that equation. Have you seen Raj in your experience?

that transformation for patients as well, like doing healing on them, right, chronic healing, but also inviting them to do service for themselves to help maybe progress their healing in certain ways. Do you have any examples of that?

Raaj Nair (16:01)
Well, I always, think the thing about the service and tithing, the clients, whenever they come to me for healing, it's already part of their DNA to do service and tithing. So I guess because of that, they come and get healing, even though they've never understood anything about pranic healing. God is all merciful, right?

So when God sees that you have been doing service and tithing and there's a problem that you are constantly being challenged with, they send someone to you, which is probably a healer or counselor or someone. So in this case, it could be me, which I would humbly like to think that I was able to help them in terms of service, because I have noticed that whenever I talk to clients who probably have had, like I remember I was healing a client who had

gastrointestinal cancer. And it's a very young man, but highly driven, super successful. And as I was healing him, was telling him about forgiveness and service and tidying. The man was already in the process of doing service. He was helping out refugees from Ukraine and he was doing other things for kids. So he was already in the process of doing service. And then I think...

I just would like to think that the avenue of healing, which was pranic healing, came about to him. So most of the people that I have been lucky to be working with have had service already in their DNA.

Dr. Jason Yuan (17:45)
Yeah, and that's always, I mean, that's almost the preferred way, right? When you can have people have patients have clients come to you and they already have this mindset of thinking of being open and already practicing service or tithing. And, you know, I go back to what you say, right? As Master Cho has said, you know, it is in giving that you receive and sometimes, you know, the act of doing service or tithing

Raaj Nair (17:58)
Yes.

Dr. Jason Yuan (18:14)
is opening up, right? It's like emptying your cup and it's allowing your energy to have more space to receive more. And that's something so important because it really puts the teachings to practice, right? Because we talk about energy and energy can be very invisible, right? It's not tangible and it's almost hard to believe that it can work for new people. But when also when you

add on service, right? It's almost something natural to that they can feel like, okay, even though I got this healing, but I'm doing this outside of it. And it feels good. It feels good to my body. I feel fulfilled, right? I feel like that also, like you mentioned, it's like, you know, God is all merciful. And there's a healer named Raj, but also I'm doing this for myself. And it feels like things continue to flow and get better. And you mentioned Raj also how service had a profound impact.

on you. And I wanted to kind of dive deep into that more deeply because I feel like, you know, service is such a big word, right? And it affects us in a positive way in so many different ways. And to give you an example for myself, like starting this podcast was a service to spread the teachings in showing how practical it is for people and how it transforms people's lives, people's lives of,

all different backgrounds. And it's been such a pleasure of mine because I love speaking to people, especially like you, and talking about this topic because it's something that we resonate with. And I always go back to the quote that I read from your bio, right? It was the first time I read this from Master Chowa. And it said something along the lines that pranic healing is natural to you because it is part of your destiny. And I wanted to kind of throw that in for you because

It seems like you're doing all this amazing service, but it's almost like you are following your destiny too. It's so natural to you. How do you kind of respond to that? Is that accurate for you,

Raaj Nair (20:24)
I would say so, know, many times when I, like for example, the pod, which was started for COVID, you know, in Singapore, there wasn't an avenue to do service at that time because we were all restricted to being at home, right? And when such an opportunity came about, I was drawn to the fact that let me try and create this pod.

to do service for people who are going through COVID. it was so amazing how we had people who were in the certification program, who joined the pod and continue to want to stay in the pod even after they got their certification. They didn't say, I want to leave because I'm done. They stayed. And I noticed that during that time, we all got our COVID.

vaccination, but at the same time, we also had COVID and we also recovered very fast. And I noticed that when there is this desire to, that I think Master Chow somehow rather picks up, which is when there's this desire to say that I would like to do something along this line of service, the opportunity of the door just opens. And that was true for me in terms of my mentorship, which is going on right now.

for the certification program, which is also a part of service, I feel, where I had just come, was in the process of completing my certification for chronic psychotherapy. And I knew that because of my inspiration from Cynthia and later Marianne, I wanted to serve and help people who are going through their certification program. And Master Glenn was being so kind and said, you know, sure.

we'll open up this opportunity for you to be a mentor. And I always use this mentorship not as a, I don't see myself as a mentor. I see myself as for me to develop myself in terms of character building also, to be more patient, to be lovingly kind to others, not to be mentally critical, all the virtues that Master Chow talks about, So.

It's a developmental process service. It's not just like, okay, I'm doing service. How do you purify yourself in terms of your thoughts and your actions as you're doing service? Because sometimes that too happens, right? When you're doing service, you have your challenges in terms of like how you're thinking, how you're acting, how you verbally responding. I, and are you procrastinating doing something? I really try to put the virtues in place when I'm doing service and.

So it has helped and it keeps generating like if one door closes, I'm sure another door will open when it comes to doing service. So I always tell myself, keep yourself open. You never know who needs you and just stay focused on the pillars and the virtues.

Dr. Jason Yuan (23:40)
Yeah, that's such a great recap. know, for those that, you know, don't know or understand, you know, Arhatic Yoga is which what Raj is speaking about is really, you know, it's a personal transformation on so many levels, right? Not only physically with your health, which most people, you know, that's how you transition from pranic healing into Arhatic Yoga, but spiritually and spiritually in the sense of being practical.

like what you're talking about, right? Not being reactive as easy, not being as critical of yourself or other people and not procrastinating and being able to balance things and have moderation, right? And to be kind and gentle and patient. these things are so, it's what so many religions talk about and so much different faiths, spiritual practices talk about.

I'm so grateful for Master Chou's system because he puts it in such a practical way where you don't have to be a monk in the mountain to dive deep and to grow from this. can still keep your lifestyle, still keep your job, and you can still experience the transformation as well. And it sounds like from your case, it's been that way for a while. And that's very, very inspiring.

Raaj Nair (25:03)
me Dr. Jason because I you know what I love about Master Chor's modality is it's a problem solving modality. It you know it's not just about healing when there is a problem ask yourself what it is that you think you could have done better and now let's see how you can heal yourself by looking at how you reacted or not reacted and what are the things that you can do to make sure that you are on the recovery path.

Dr. Jason Yuan (25:11)
Mmm.

Raaj Nair (25:33)
and it's a problem solving modality. You don't have to go and seek it, but it's already there in the teaching. So I really, really at my hand appreciate the teaching so much to draw.

Dr. Jason Yuan (25:45)
You know, to quote the late Cynthia de Leon, she called it a spiritual technology, right? When you need help for your health, you do pranic healing. When you need help for your finances, you do kriya shakti, right? When you need help for being a better person, know, our hatha yoga. And it's really such a well -rounded system. So I have to say, yeah, I agree 100 % with you.

And sort of to transition, Raj, you I know that nowadays you are again, you're a healer by for the most of the capacity. But also, again, you do all the service as well. Where do you see yourself kind of moving with pranic healing? Because you mentioned about, you know, just you have to practice the virtues, keep on growing, you know, following the path that our Hara yoga has laid out.

But personally, as a question in for the audience, what do see yourself moving forward? Do you see yourself continuing to do more projects, do more service, do more healings? What's the goals now that you have this foundation of pranic healing and arhatic yoga set for you?

Raaj Nair (26:59)
Well, as I mentioned to you beginning, I'm a designer by profession, right? But right now I move more towards professional healing. I would like to increase this capacity to be...

healing on a wider capacity, not just to individuals but also through to corporations as well. In terms of service, you know, to be honest, I haven't really thought about it. I know that as you grow, you need to increase your number of hours in terms of how you, but I don't look at its number of hours. I want to see is something that I feel inspired to do and

Yeah, I want to see what I can do in terms of pranic healing and service that could help perhaps a group of people. And right now it's on autism healing and we've got wonderful results coming forward for us in terms of autism healing. You know, when we talk about autism healing, it's not just about healing these, the kit.

It's also about the parent. The parent goes through a very challenging time, right? So the parent, when we give ourselves as an instrument of healing to the child, the parent also is relieved of some of the challenges that they have. So I want to take this forward, perhaps on a bigger scale. And I'm working with someone who is based in Bangalore. So we're starting to collect data, trying to make it a little bit more organized.

And then, yeah, I'm open to see what the future holds for me. I haven't really thought about how I can contribute in terms of service, but yes, it's a good thing to keep in mind. Yes. Thank you for raising that.

Dr. Jason Yuan (28:51)
Yeah, no, no, it was the next question for me, but I love what you're doing, especially with the work with the autism kids. And you bring up a really important point, right? A lot of people think that it's just the kids that are struggling, but who's watching over the kids? It's the parents, right? And so much of the stress, the anxiety comes from that part. And I have to...

I'm so grateful to hear that because I can only imagine the amount of work and energy it takes to care for a child with special needs. And it's amazing. It sounds like you're doing some great work. I'm part of the Pronic Healing Research Institute, and we always try to document these cases in a formal way so it can come out as an evidence -based case study.

or K -Series that just bolsters pranic healing. So I'm really grateful to hear that. sounds like you guys are kind of working on that, organizing that together. So it's been such a lovely conversation with you, Raj. mean, just listening to you speak about your journey and the amazing service that you've been doing is really deeply heartfelt for myself and inspires me to do better.

my own part in my own projects. you know, sort of the closing question for you Raj is, what's sort of like the best advice or words of wisdom that you've gotten since you've been in pranic healing?

Raaj Nair (30:31)
I think the best advice that I've gotten is actually from the last words of Master Chow, which is to practice diligently, purify yourself, spread the teachings. Practicing diligently is, as we hear it, it sounds very simple, but it's quite actually a very challenging thing to do, especially when you have your life challenges and professional challenges and to make sure that you set every period of time for yourself.

to practice diligently, whether it be in terms of healing, in terms of a meditation, in terms of your arhatic practice, that is super, super important. Purifying yourself as Master Chua says, you know, it's all about you because when you change the energy within you, you change the energy of your surroundings and the people around you. And that, think, is super, super important to keep reminding of yourself, as they always say, for a good healer.

you need to have an aura of at least two to three meters, right? So, and that actually makes an impact on the people that you're healing and also the environment. And then spreading the teachings, because I think as simple as it sounds, what can you do every day to spread the teachings? Whom can you talk to or whom can you impact about spreading the teachings? And I think these are things that we need to keep reminding ourselves. These were the words of our teacher, Master Chok Hock Swee and

As we remind ourselves, we can try to do better and improve ourselves as well.

Dr. Jason Yuan (32:06)
Wow, could not have said that better myself, Raj, really. Practice diligently, purify yourself, and spread the teachings, right? Which is, again, Master Cho's last words. So thank you so much, Raj. I mean, really an amazing conversation. I'm sure we can talk for another hour on end, but for those that are interested.

in working with you and maybe looking into your services. How can they reach out to you and contact you?

Raaj Nair (32:39)
They could probably reach out to me through my Instagram, which is Raj Nair Official. Or they can probably try and reach out to me through my email, which is Raj. I mean, I can share that with you later privately.

Dr. Jason Yuan (32:55)
Yes, and we will have this linked in the description on all the platforms. yes, so on Instagram and email, it sounds like. Yeah. Okay. Well, again, Raj, thank you so much. This has been a really wonderful conversation, inspired action through service. And you you mentioned so many great names on this podcast, especially, you know, the late Miss Cynthia DeLeon, which has been a great inspiration for all of us. And, you know, again, we're

Raaj Nair (33:08)
Thank you, Dr. Puz.

Dr. Jason Yuan (33:25)
continuing Master Choe's teachings because it has made such a profound impact on ourselves. you know, it is in giving that we receive. So thank you so much, Raj. My Namaste.
