And as I"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":299.02799999999996,"endTime":307.89799999999997,"body":"grew up and like Vicki, I was a tutor all through my"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":307.928,"endTime":314.34799999999996,"body":"my high school years and then on through college, I"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":307.928,"endTime":314.34799999999996,"body":"took on that role as a teacher. And when the"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":314.378,"endTime":319.08799999999997,"body":"literature revealed to me that that was the best way"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":314.378,"endTime":319.08799999999997,"body":"to learn, it was quite obvious to me that it was"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":319.08799999999997,"endTime":325.358,"body":"quite effective. And so teaching was, was something"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":319.08799999999997,"endTime":325.358,"body":"that I always wanted to do. I'm reminded of a student who"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":394.974,"endTime":401.334,"body":"told me once this was a math class I was teaching. I"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":394.974,"endTime":401.334,"body":"forget which class, but there was some bit of"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":401.334,"endTime":406.644,"body":"prerequisite knowledge that the student was not"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":401.334,"endTime":406.644,"body":"exhibiting as I was working with them in office"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":406.644,"endTime":410.784,"body":"hours. And I said, Oh, you should have learned about"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":406.644,"endTime":410.784,"body":"that. And then I named the prerequisite course that"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":410.784,"endTime":417.787,"body":"was actually required to take that score. And I kid"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":410.784,"endTime":417.787,"body":"you not. The student said something like, Oh yeah, I,"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":417.99699999999996,"endTime":423.517,"body":"I took that course. I didn't think we had to worry"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":417.99699999999996,"endTime":423.517,"body":"about that stuff anymore. Like, like he had checked"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":423.517,"endTime":427.717,"body":"the course off. So he didn't he didn't think he"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":423.517,"endTime":427.717,"body":"needed to retain any of that information. It just"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":427.717,"endTime":432.817,"body":"didn't occur to him that there was a reason that he"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":427.717,"endTime":432.817,"body":"needed to know that information for this current"},{"speaker":"Derek Bruff","startTime":432.817,"endTime":433.687,"body":"course. Like, Hello, we did"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":454.54499999999996,"endTime":459.075,"body":"this last semester and your project was on capital"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":454.54499999999996,"endTime":459.075,"body":"punishment because they all wanted to write about"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":459.075,"endTime":459.85499999999996,"body":"that at the time,"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":461.8,"endTime":465.90999999999997,"body":"but they couldn't they couldn't make that connection."},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":461.8,"endTime":465.90999999999997,"body":"And I think it's because they were finished with it."},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":465.90999999999997,"endTime":470.89,"body":"They checked it off, they siloed it, and Linda"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":465.90999999999997,"endTime":470.89,"body":"Nilson was really her work is really inspiring to us"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":470.89,"endTime":476.95,"body":"as we put this book together, because she writes"},{"speaker":"Jennifer Harrison","startTime":470.89,"endTime":476.95,"body":"about disciplinary amnesia.
