Salt+Light Podcast
The 'Salt + Light' Podcast is a space for honest, Spirit-led conversations about following Jesus and living out the truth of the Gospel. Here, we dive into what it truly means to walk with Christ—learning to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, growing in conviction, and living set apart from culture around us. As believers, we are called to rise up, stand firm in truth, and model the life, heart, and character of Jesus. Together we’ll talk about carrying the message of the Gospel with fire, living boldly for Christ, and allowing Him to shape us into His image. Being salt + light means influencing the world around us, not blending into it.
Hosted by Alexa Deffes—wife, mom, creative, worship leader, and your friend + sister in Christ.

Obedience, Generational Capacity, + Spiritual Warfare

In this episode, I’m sharing what the Lord has been walking me through when it comes to obedience, spiritual altars, and generational strongholds. We talk a lot about saying “yes” to God—but what happens when your “yes” requires you to go against everything your family, culture, or past taught you? What happens when your obedience breaks cycles?
We will get into the difference between living in covenant with the Kingdom and staying stuck in captivity. We talk about how old altars—ways of thinking, generational mindsets, behaviors—have to be torn down before we can truly walk in freedom. And how sometimes, the hardest battles are the ones no one sees… the ones we fight in prayer, in private, in our bloodline.
This episode is for anyone who’s ever wondered:
- Why does this pattern keep showing up?
- Is this just how things are for my family?
- Why is it so hard to obey even when I know it’s God?
Your obedience carries weight. Your surrender builds something new. Your freedom wasn’t meant to stop with you—it’s supposed to multiply.
Let’s go there.
