I'm your host, Denise Keilitz, and I'm here to answer the real questions clients ask in the salon so you can feel confident and love every visit. Hey, welcome back to Straight from the Stylist Chair, your go-to QA series for better hair days. Today's question is how can I make my salon results last longer? Great question. Because I know it, you love your salon look on day one, but you just wish it lasted longer, right? Well, here's how you do that. So clients often lose that fresh from the chair feeling within days and they feel frustrated because they want to feel like they just stepped out of the salon. So here's what's going on. If you skip the recommended aftercare, then that's going to affect the how it how what's happening. If you wash your hair too often, if you use the wrong tools, or if you're using too much heat, this can all shorten your style's life. Okay, so we're not talking about just like the next day, the day after. We're talking about after you've washed

Why Results Fade Fast

your hair and you style it, and after a couple of weeks, it just doesn't look the same. Well, you have to use your stylist recommended products and less heat. Number one, you cannot expect to get the same results that your stylist got if you go home and use a 98 cent uh gel or mousse. It's just not gonna work the same. It's not gonna look the same, it's not gonna be the same. I'm just telling you. Doesn't mean you have to buy what they have on their shelf, but you know what? If you really want to support your stylist, that's what I would buy. Because if you're liking what's happening when you're sitting in their chair and that's what they're using on you, then why wouldn't it work for you at home too? And you're supporting your stylist's business too. So there's that. You also want to use less heat than you think you need. A lot of us turn on our curling irons or our uh flat irons over 400 degrees.

Products That Actually Maintain Style

You don't need it that hot. All you're gonna do is blast open that cuticle and you will fry your hair. You also want to take in into consideration, you want to wash your hair less frequently than you think you need to. So if you're somebody who says, Oh, Denise, I have to have clean hair every day, try to go every other day then. And then rinse it with cool water. That'll help to seal that cuticle back down. You'll get shinier hair. And then if you're doing color and you feel like you've lost that shine in between colors, why don't you go ahead and just book a gloss or a toner in between your full service color because that's going to help refresh your color, refresh the shine, refresh the tone. You'll you'll get a lot more uh wear and tear out of your hair, I guess. And

then you also need to schedule trims to keep your ends healthy, always. And we talked about this on another episode, but anywhere between eight and twelve weeks. All right, there you go.
