We press into the hard truth that love includes forgiveness and that offense undermines authentic ministry. Through Acts 8, 2 Corinthians 2, and Ezekiel 24, we explore conviction, repentance, and the courage to serve by faith when it costs.

• love as a command that includes forgiveness
• authentic ministry formed by personal conviction
• Acts 8 warning against buying influence and spectacle
• discernment that names bitterness and calls for repentance
• church discipline that restores with comfort and love
• resisting offense to protect new growth and healing
• Ezekiel’s obedience through grief and disrupted custom
• walking by faith when feelings disagree
• refusing to twist scripture for personal gain
• leaving the rearview to pursue purpose and legacy

Opening And Theme Of Legacy

SPEAKER_05

Welcome to another episode of Life and Legacy. We're glad that you're here. Listen, let's go ahead and sit back. Don't relax yourself. Get yourself ready for what's about to happen. Transform your life. And your legacy. We're still believing that great things are happening. And they're happening in you. Come on, let's get ready to make this happen. Our life's been waiting for you to show up. Yes, it has.

Love Requires Forgiveness

SPEAKER_06

You can't effectively minister, you can effectively minister, right? And a spirit of offense and love at the same time. You can't do it.

SPEAKER_08

Amen.

SPEAKER_06

Because love in and of itself includes forgiveness. I know sometimes we forget that it makes me feel all gooey inside. I just love the love. Look, there's a part of love that includes forgiveness. It's it's in there. You know how bishop says you can't buy the shoes without the tongues. Y'all know how you can't, you got to get the tongues come with it. The tongues come with it. Y'all know what I'm talking about. You got to have love, and love includes forgiveness. How can I say that? Because behold the Lamb of God, which was slain before the foundations of the world, he already knew. For God so what? Love the world that he what? Gave his only begotten son. There has to be forgiveness. Oh, come on, y'all. Have mercy. Amen. Lord have mercy. And when we get stuck in how we feel, right? We get stuck in the fence. All right. We can't deliver the word of God. Not effectively. All right.

SPEAKER_00

Amen.

SPEAKER_06

Not completely. Now, some of you, some I ain't got time, Lord. Have mercy. And Lord, let me do what you want me to do. Alright. Let's go. So here's what we don't. Here's

Personal Conviction Before Ministry

SPEAKER_06

what we know. I grew in this lesson. I'm gonna just let you know. I grew in this lesson. I grew in this lesson. Alright, so here's what we know is that if we're gonna do this, there needs to be a deep understanding, even personal application of this word in your life. If you're really gonna do, if you're really gonna deliver a word, it needs to be a personal application. You probably you can't, you know, it's difficult for me to minister to someone, to minister to someone who has been on drugs.

unknown

Oh, right.

SPEAKER_06

Because I don't know the pain. I don't know everything they've gone through. Right. I I and I can give them the basics, right? I can give them the basics, y'all with me? Like what I can give them the basics. But getting into the struggle is challenging. But those who've overcome that, y'all with me? Those who overcome these things, at some point in time, you will be able to minister from your point of victory. Y'all with me? Okay, I want to make sure we understand that God wants a champion in this area. So you should be more than convicted, more than convinced. Hopefully, you won't convict it. More than convinced that this is the way that God wants you to go. To minister to those individuals. Now, for those of you who may not have had the same mindset, listen, before you came in, I hope your mindset is shifting even right now. That there are things that you have that God is speaking to you right now, and you hear all of it. Right now. You hear all of it. All that he's speaking to you, that you hear all of it right now, that you receive it inwardly right now. Because this word that I'm speaking to you, maybe you've heard it before, but maybe even I heard it arranged in such a manner.

unknown

That's true.

SPEAKER_08

Amen. Amen.

SPEAKER_06

Right? But we need, can you do you agree that we need to get this in our hearts? Right? We need to be mindful to get this in our hearts. So here we go, here we go. Um, let's talk about authentic ministry. Let's talk about authentic ministry. Here it is. Uh if you got a pen and a paper, here's the command. Hear with your ears. You must function accurately. Ensure that the word that you heard is correct.

SPEAKER_08

Amen. Amen.

SPEAKER_06

Some but you know how some say, well, I heard from the Lord, did you? Let's make sure. How's that prayer life? Let's make sure. Let's make sure. Next one, uh, because I'm running out of time. Receive in your heart. Make sure it's the authenticity, it's the volition, the authenticity of your word. Ensures the messenger is committed. You got to be authentic to what you're doing. Let's give an example. You miss Ezekiel. This means he must be fully transformed and convinced by the message, the message for yourself, before you can faithfully and authentically deliver it to the rebellious people. Oh, I forgot to tell you that part. The people who you're talking to may not want to hear.

SPEAKER_08

Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.

SPEAKER_06

I kind of told you before. And I'm in the middle of right now, I'm getting a revelation. Next time my wife won't receive something, I'm saying you're rebellious.

unknown

Don't try it.

SPEAKER_06

Don't try it. Don't try. You're rebellious. Don't say nothing else. Here's what we know. Here's what we know. This is a prerequisite in order for us to be effective. You gotta be convinced inwardly. You gotta be. If you want to be really effective, you gotta be convinced inwardly. I'm staying there because some of us may not be wholly convinced yet. You might be convinced about your salvation, but are you convinced about your ministry?

SPEAKER_08

All right. Ah, there it is.

SPEAKER_06

Any questions before we move on? Yeah. Go ahead, sir.

SPEAKER_08

This guy, Joe Grand gone. Mm-hmm. I ain't gonna call him a man. He's living out here. I said, he said he'd been here one time about three or four years ago. And he told me he don't like holding it. No, he'll be alright. I said you obey the word of God, not me. Come on. There you go. I like that. See that? Obey the word of God. Not me. Alright? I didn't like reading their college.

SPEAKER_06

Right.

SPEAKER_08

I still don't. I do read.

SPEAKER_06

Yes, sir. I know you do. I've seen you do it.

SPEAKER_08

Information.

SPEAKER_06

All right.

Authentic Ministry Defined

SPEAKER_06

So everybody tell me with me to Acts the eighth chapter. Eighth chapter. I want to show you something. I want to show you the example. Let's get into it.

SPEAKER_08

I just told you a little bit.

SPEAKER_06

Pardon me?

SPEAKER_08

I just told you a little bit.

SPEAKER_06

You did. You told me it was good because that's what we need. We need, don't we need the word of God? That's what we want, right? Man shall not live by what? Alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. So we need the word of God. It is what makes us. Sometimes we might try to live without the word. But it will come a day where you will become hungry for the word. And it's typically in a time where things are hard.

SPEAKER_07

That's right.

SPEAKER_06

What did I miss? Your daily diet of the word of God? I'm just saying. I'm just saying, yes, sir. Make it quick for me, because I'm running. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_08

Clyde Juncker or yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. Well, we'd be re recording. You might want to leave that out.

SPEAKER_08

He was turned on from all churches for a colour of what Clad Jump could do.

SPEAKER_06

Well, we're going to we're going to we're going to work on that later on. You know what? There's some things that some people can some people can stay again in the spirit of offense. But you need to find a place to call home. Am I right, y'all? So who's got Acts 8 and 18? Somebody get with me. Acts 8 and 18.

Acts 8: Simon And False Motives

SPEAKER_06

Let's do this. Acts 8 and 18. Acts 8 and 18. If you're there, say I'm there. Alright. And I need a reader real quick. Somebody, we're going to read down to verse 24. Go ahead, please.

SPEAKER_01

And when Simon saw that through lay Acts 8 and 18. Oh. And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, saying, Give me also this power. That on whomsoever I laid hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. For thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this, thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. Wow.

SPEAKER_06

Alright.

SPEAKER_01

For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity. Then answered Simon and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which he have spoken come uncle.

SPEAKER_06

Alright. What do we see here? What do we see here? Come on, talk to us, class. What do we see here? What's happening here?

SPEAKER_08

Somebody want to buy something with money.

SPEAKER_06

Somebody want to buy what does he want to buy? He wants to buy that. He wants to buy. So he wants y'all see the intent? He wants to be able to lay hands on folk. How are you doing that? So it's not even about authentic ministry. It's about me being able to be seen.

SPEAKER_09

Or get paid. Or get paid.

SPEAKER_06

Right. Let me see if I can. Can I cannot commercialize that? That's what we do. Can I profit from it? Not the right profit. You know what I mean. So we hear in the have we seen that in the church?

SPEAKER_08

Amen. Time and time again.

SPEAKER_06

Time. It's not authentic ministry.

SPEAKER_08

Right.

SPEAKER_06

I'm talking to everybody.

SPEAKER_08

Amen.

SPEAKER_06

It's not authentic ministry. When you actually want to involve, I ain't got time to do that. Y'all know what's going on. So what else do we see here? What else do we see here? Because I got 15 minutes. What else do we see here?

SPEAKER_01

Peter told me he better repent.

SPEAKER_06

Well, there we go. There we go. There we go. Say that loud, say it proud. We gotta repent. He told him to what? Repent. He there's an intent that. Now, here's the beautiful part about it. He didn't just say you evil person. Go to hell. He didn't say that. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Put out. All right. Put out.

SPEAKER_06

In his ministry, he says, he uses a gift of discernment. For I perceive that you by what? Bitterness. Bitterness, offense, whatever it is, that you're in that space. And because you're in that space, you've misconceived on mis, you've thought of what you see as something totally different than what it is, my friend. Right, right, right. And for that reason, you're trying to you're trying to execute your a purpose on the earth. You're trying to execute a purpose in the earth that is not done this way. It's not right. It's not right.

unknown

Your heart ain't right.

SPEAKER_06

Your heart is not right. He tells them to what?

Repentance, Discernment, And Restoration

SPEAKER_06

Repent. What does a man do? Okay, so there we go. So he said, he said, forgive me. Look, I don't know what I'm doing. In other words, all right, look, I don't I don't want that. I don't know what I we started off with this. No, I definitely don't want that. But there are people who will repent if you give them the space to. Now you can't, some people might get it wrong a lot, but you can't follow so close behind them that when they turn around, there's an accident.

SPEAKER_07

Amen.

SPEAKER_06

Y'all understand what I'm saying? You're so close on them, hard on pursuit. You're a sinner. You da da da. And then when they repent, they turn around, they're going back the other way. You in the way. Oh, there you go, then that's a better visual. Now you understand. You're in the way. Because you're still calling them a sinner. They're trying to repent and you're trying to keep them.

SPEAKER_03

Lord have mercy.

SPEAKER_06

You've been offended about what you knew of them. So you still got them in that containment space. Look, let people find God while they're going in the right direction. They're doing something good. Tell them to thank you for doing something good. Give them encouragement for doing something right.

SPEAKER_08

Amen.

SPEAKER_04

Oh man.

SPEAKER_06

Yes, sir.

SPEAKER_04

I start hand over. Yes, sir. I was gonna say uh the act of obedience needs to start with people, but some know the truth and what to do, but forgiveness lies at the door. So if the heart ain't right, sometimes God's trying to show you you need to forgive. Get it right.

SPEAKER_09

That's right.

SPEAKER_04

Like with the scripture saying it's a point of forgiveness, but we all know about sin. So that person sometimes gotta go through and you gotta get out that way so God can touch him. So God can send somebody else and not receive you when you start talking to them about repentance, sin, or forgiveness. So it lies at the heart, it lies at the door. You have to give a person time. Gotta give them time. Gotta give them time. Because guess what?

SPEAKER_06

Who's in who's in charge of time?

SPEAKER_04

God.

SPEAKER_06

Who? Probably the person that created it. I think. I mean, anybody here create time lately? Nope. Not a single one of us. But yeah, and still we try to hold somebody else's feet to the fire. You gotta let them figure that out for themselves. Your job is to do what God has said. To make sure it's right.

unknown

Amen.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, we can't put on a black. Anyway, go ahead.

SPEAKER_07

No, uh, I've seen this.

SPEAKER_06

And I apologize. Apologize. Everybody turn up first 2 Corinthians

Give People Time To Change

SPEAKER_06

2 and 4. 2 Corinthians 2 and 4. Go. 2 Corinthians 2 and 4.

SPEAKER_07

Greatest battle would be in the church and not outside. But the people outside can see things.

SPEAKER_06

Right.

SPEAKER_07

But they got to thank the church folks.

SPEAKER_06

See? Right in line with what I just told people to go. So if you got that 2 Corinthians 2, I shouldn't know the word of the Lord's in you, brother. Let me know. 2 Corinthians 2 and 4. I got I'm gonna read it. Um who's there? Who's there? Anybody? Anybody here?

SPEAKER_03

I got you.

SPEAKER_06

Go 2 Corinthians 2 and 4.

SPEAKER_03

2 Corinthians 2 and 4. For out of much affliction.

SPEAKER_06

Go to verse 11. All the way. Fourth through left. Fourth through left.

SPEAKER_03

For out of much affliction and identity heart, I read to you with many tears.

SPEAKER_02

Not that you should be grieved, but that you might know the love which I have more accordingly unto you. But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part that I may not overcharge you all. Sufficient to such a man is this punishment which was inflicted of many, so that country wise ye are rather to forgive him and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be overflowed, or should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

SPEAKER_06

Stop, stop, stop. Alright, so we'll probably get to it. Here's the thing. Right here in the church, Paul is writing, and he's saying, guess what? I'm forgiven a man. But you I'm sorry, the other church people, not these folk in here. But you for some reason are still holding it against him. You gotta forgive this person because otherwise he'll be taken up in much sorrow. All of this that you're going against him, he'll be overwhelmed.

SPEAKER_08

All right.

2 Corinthians 2: Forgive And Comfort

SPEAKER_06

Are y'all hearing me? It's in your text. I mean, if you look, if you ain't got that in the King James, go get the amplified so we can break it down a little bit more for you. But I'm gonna challenge you that you understand that we don't stay in that spirit of offense because people might it might cause mental anguish for people who come to visit. All right, and want to stay. But they can't stay because you treat them like a visitor.

SPEAKER_08

All right.

SPEAKER_06

Well, I don't know. Some of y'all treat visitors pretty good. Anyway, leave it alone. Don't treat you treat visitors better than you treat your family. We talk about that later. So uh, yes, sir. Go ahead. Right quick.

SPEAKER_04

I was gonna say sometimes in your affliction, you can grieve because of people's mindset towards you. But if you just repent and ask God for health, he'll give you strength and your weaknesses. But mainly, he's gonna show you you in that process.

SPEAKER_06

That's right. Reverse eight from me. One more uh eight, then we we could get out of here.

SPEAKER_02

Wherefore I beseech you that you would confirm your love toward. Woo!

SPEAKER_06

Okay, just in case you think I made it up. It just said that in your word, right? You confirm your what? Love. Your what toward him. Is that ministry?

SPEAKER_09

Yes.

SPEAKER_06

It's ministry. It's ministry. Do you have to be convinced of this? Yes. Yes. You have to be convinced of this. You can't do this of your own human knowledge. You can't do this specifically because you got uh, you know, a PhD. You can't do that for this. This has to be from the will of God. This has to be from the throne of God. God has to give you the ability to do this. You say it's difficult, yes, it is. That's why we do it by faith.

unknown

All right. Amen. Amen.

SPEAKER_06

If it was easy, you could do it on your own. You don't need faith. I don't need faith to stop my car. I used to.

SPEAKER_03

Right? All right.

SPEAKER_06

Right? But I thank God that now there are days when you realize that some things that should be, as we grow in Christ, there are things that we have to do in faith. You say, what do you mean? Um you want me to treat them right when they treated me wrong? Yes. Why? Because God said so. But I'm not going to receive anything. Do it by faith. If you do it by faith, you you probably will benefit from this at some point in time. If you don't, somebody in your family will.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Amen.

SPEAKER_06

Are y'all with me? We get short-sighted. Will we operate in a fence?

SPEAKER_08

All right.

SPEAKER_06

Well, we get short-sighted when we forget what ministry is.

SPEAKER_08

Yes.

SPEAKER_06

And we want to be ministered too. All right. Let me keep it going. Alright, so. Um, any questions? Anything? Anybody want to point out? Any good points? Very good points so far. Any good points? Any more points? All right. Let's do this. Uh I'm gonna go straight to Ezekiel 24. Ezekiel 24, start at verse 15. And here's where the hard part comes. Ezekiel 4, 24, Ezekiel 4, Ezekiel 24, verse 15. What we're gonna do here. We dare say I'm there. If somebody could read for me

Faith Over Feelings In Ministry

SPEAKER_06

uh 15 through 18, and we're gonna probably end there. We're gonna don't worry. I've touched on the other pieces, believe it or not. I'm gonna encourage you to read down to verse 24, but we need to get through 15 to 18 today. Is that all right? All right, go ahead. Who's got 15 through 18? Go ahead.

SPEAKER_02

Ezekiel 24, starting in verse 15. Also, the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke. Yet neither shalt thou. More nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down. Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead. Find the ties of thy head among thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men. For I speak unto the people in the morning, that even thou even my wife died, and I did in the morning as I was mad.

SPEAKER_06

Alright, anybody familiar? And if you read this before, anybody familiar with what's happening here? Let's do that. Okay. Anybody come on, talk to me. What's happening here? What's what's happening in Ezekiel?

SPEAKER_00

He's been told not to mourn for the wife to not to mourn for the loss of his wife.

SPEAKER_06

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And he wants that to convey that to the people, that they're not to mourn for what's about to happen to them.

SPEAKER_06

That's right. That's right. He synopsis real good. It's that at the end of the day, Ezekiel's about to lose his wife. He's about to lose his wife. I don't know if he's about to lose his wife. And instead of him abiding by traditions, a normal tradition. Let me go through this. Customary mourning. Scriptural significance. When it says uncover the head, shave, they normally would uncover their head and shave their head in mourning. But he tells them to bind the turban about his head. Right? They normally would go barefoot, but he tells them to put on sandals. Right? He tells them to don't cover his lips. They would normally cover their face in their lips to show that they're, you know, that they're a sign of distress, silence, or isolation. That's what it is in the morning. And then accept, don't eat the man's bread. Don't eat man's bread. Again, don't eat man's bread. Accept and eat the bread. So normally there was a bread that you would get from people. You know how people bring you stuff during the funeral and you eat the food and say, Don't do that. He's telling him, don't even bother following the normal rituals that you would follow when your wife passes away.

SPEAKER_04

That's right. That's tough, though.

SPEAKER_06

That ain't it? I apologize every once in a while. They slip out. It is tough. Now, this is difficult being a prophet. It's difficult being a prophet. If you're a prophet and you're working in ministry because God's asking

Ezekiel 24: Obedience Through Grief

SPEAKER_06

you to do something, how difficult is it to know you have a loved one that you cannot mourn for?

SPEAKER_07

All right. Amen.

SPEAKER_06

You can't mourn for. That's what God is saying. Don't you, don't you mournful? Don't show more. See, because he what he's saying is that listen, Israel, I've been trying to give you a word, but you won't listen. If you listen, then you might see. If you get down to verse 24, it talks about how God, just like a man, if we repent, if he repent, if you repent and you will see, people will be released from that captivity. I forgot to tell you that part. Ezekiel is ministering to people who are aware in captivity. And even in captivity, they still won't listen. That's a sad thing when you're in captivity and you still won't listen to the word of God. Are we dealing with it right now? Are we dealing with it? So listen. Let me do this. Let me do this because um Hosea 4 and 6 says, My people are destroyed for what? Lack of knowledge. Can I read the rest of it to you? Sometimes it says, Because you have what? Rejected knowledge, I will also reject you from being my priest before me. Not only that because you have forgotten the law of God, I will also forget your children. I'm gonna forget your children. When you do that, you've got to realize it. Yes, doctor, go ahead. I gotta get out here. How much time? I got four minutes. I have four minutes. I got four minutes. I'm gonna use all of them. I'm gonna use all of them. So here's the thing. Ah, my, my, my, my. Here's what we understand. It said, uh, no, no, I don't want that one. Here we go. Can we think of anybody in in the New Testament that parallels what Ezekiel is going through? Who's going who went through a lot of trouble in the New Testament?

unknown

New Testament.

SPEAKER_06

New Testament. Paul, Paul, Paul, he was shipwrecked, he was beaten, all that stuff. And yet, still in all that he said, I am still convinced. When you know that you know you are still convinced, in all of this, I am still convinced. Right? And he goes, I invite you at some point in time to get your get your uh get you an opportunity to read 2 Corinthians the fourth chapter. And he says, Therefore, since we have this ministry, uh, we have received with mercy. Uh we do not lose heart. He says it specifically in 2 Corinthians the fourth chapter, verse 1, just in case you need it. I won't lose heart, but I renounce the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully. Do you hear what I ain't saying? I am so convinced that even in spite of these tragedies, the things that I could relent on, and I could say, I renounce all these things, I hold true to what I am convinced in, and I'm gonna stay convinced in that I won't handle the word of God deceitfully. In other words, I had the opportunity to trick people, but I will not. I will not. I will hold. We gotta make sure we even when it might be seemingly good for you. I could take a little tangent and be off just a little bit. Nobody will know. God will know. You violated the terms of the agreement. You violated the terms of the agreement, and though you may not see, you might not see it today, but it's gonna show up. It will show up because every seed thrown show up. Come on. So we gotta be we gotta be right right on with that. Do you think then, in my last two minutes, do you think then that we should be so convinced about the goodness of God and the grace that He's bestowed upon us that we should tell others about the gospel? Is it our desire that we tell others about the gospel? Is it really our desire to tell others about the gospel? Are we so busy fighting our own life?

Captivity, Knowledge, And Rejection

SPEAKER_04

All right, sometimes it's just oh come on.

SPEAKER_06

So can we can we do what Ezekiel did and start mourning over things that have gone away? All right, because you're right, it's about the struggle, but we if we get stuck on things that have passed away, tomorrow's gone. We can't I can't get that. I can forge for a future, and my future is love and forgiveness, or my future can be stuck.

SPEAKER_01

You can't get where you need to go to go and look in the rear view mirror.

SPEAKER_06

You can't go. I love a good teacher, good teacher. You can't get you can't get where you need to go looking in the rearview mirror. Some of us are still looking in the rear view mirror. You can't do ministry effectively because you're looking in the rear view mirror. All right, it's past. Forgive me, and I understand. His wife has past. Oh, he's grieving. But he can't show. But he can't show. You gotta do ministry. Y'all understand what I'm saying? In this analogy, you can't afford, and I gotta get out, you can't afford to allow what's happened in the past. I don't care what has died, right? You can't afford it. If you didn't, if your ministry didn't go the way you wanted it to go, if your life didn't go the way you wanted it to go, stop doing that to yourself because you can't see the future for the past. Let me say it. You can't see the future for the past. For that reason, you're stuck in this place. Maybe it's Lodabar.

SPEAKER_04

Come on, sir.

SPEAKER_06

You need to come out of Lodabar. For those of you who don't, you're crippled in a place. You need to be picked up from Lodabar, set at the king's table, so that you can actually do what you're meant to do. What you were born to do. Because that's the thing about uh my fill the chef. He was born to be at the king's table.

SPEAKER_00

That's right.

SPEAKER_06

Born, you're born, you're born. You were born to be there. I'm done. All right, pray us out there.

SPEAKER_09

Jesus. Everyone's just we will receive, we will apply.
