What if the worst moment of your life was actually the doorway to your greatest blessing?
On a Saturday morning in June 2016, Rachel L McCants was on her way to teach a dance class. Music playing. Backpack on. Excited for the girls she would inspire. Then her phone dropped. Her body fell backward. And everything changed.
A grade three brain tumor.
In the stillness of that hospital moment, she heard three words that would anchor her through surgery, chemo, and radiation: I’ve got this.
Rachel grew up in church. Vacation Bible school. Awana. Christian camp. Faith was familiar. But it was not until she faced a diagnosis that threatened her future that her relationship with Jesus became intimate, personal, alive. Bald twice. Dependent on family. Surrounded by care packages, heated blankets, and a mother who slept beside her hospital bed every night. She discovered something deeper than fear. She discovered surrender.
And then something miraculous happened. No medical bills. Provision through family. A community that showed up and showed out. A healing that doctors monitor, but faith declares complete.
Today Rachel is an entrepreneur, a devotional leader, and the founder of Early Mornings with a Dose of Jesus. Each morning she sends encouragement, scripture, and affirmation to help others wake up with peace, clarity, and purpose. She is not building a platform. She is building people.
In this powerful conversation, Rachel reminds us that trauma does not disqualify us. It prepares us. That accountability builds strength. That community carries us when we cannot walk alone. And that even in the darkest diagnosis, God is already ahead of us.
P.S. If this episode stirred something in you, do not ignore it. Reach out to someone today. Start the conversation. Invite faith back into your morning. Your healing may begin with one small yes.
