Transform your mornings and reclaim over four weeks of your year! Let's have a recap on our Monday Mindset favorite episode, inspired by Mel Robbins, which reveals the hidden costs of hitting the snooze button. Discover how just 26 extra minutes in bed can rob you of precious time for growth and calm. I challenge you to reshape those minutes into a powerful start to your day with the mantra: "Get up, dress up, show up."
I explore how waking up with purpose can turn rushed mornings into moments of intention. Join me on this journey to harness those 158 hours a year and step closer to your best self!
Here’s to another day of living intentionally.
Caitlin
Well, hello teachers, and welcome to your Monday Mindset podcast episode. These are short, little snippets of thoughts, reflections that I share with you on a weekly basis, that are focused around mindset things that we can do to live our best lives, to live an intentional life, and I invite you to not just listen to these for yourself and how they apply to you in your life, but consider sharing them with other people too. Consider sharing them with your students every Monday and having a conversation about it and doing a reflection together, because I think a lot of these thoughts, these topics, these questions are just a part of being human, and sometimes being human can feel lonely and to know that other people are struggling through some of the same challenges that you are and are benefiting from having these types of conversations is hugely powerful in allowing us to get to be the best version of ourselves, to take who we are and who we be and who we show up in the world as to that next level. So I really hope that you enjoy these Monday mindsets and, if you do, let us know over on our Instagram at Evie academics. Thanks so much for listening and let's dive into our Monday mindset. So I saw this very interesting post from Mel Robbins on Instagram and she shared that.
Speaker 1:Research shows the average snooze button hitter wastes 26 minutes in bed a day. They waste 26 minutes in bed a day. If you break that down, that's 158 hours a year, which is four work weeks a year spent snoozing. And when you look at it like that, I thought that was so interesting, because so many of us say I don't have time for this, I don't have time for that, I don't have time for this. It's always our excuse, right, and that's not to say sometimes, yeah, we need to hit the snooze button, we're exhausted and our bodies need the rest. And I also want to offer to your brain that I think a lot of the times, we lean into excuses because it's the easy way out, right? That's just a natural human tendency to do. And what if we harness the power of that time to do something that actually serves the person that we wanna be in the future? Right? If we didn't waste that 26 minutes in bed a day, snoozing in and out of sleep which isn't even good for you anyways and we just got up and we started our day and we got to have time to just drink our coffee or we got to have time to feel prepared for the day ahead, or to start our day calmly and move into the day differently. Man, you know how different do we get to show up for everybody, for ourselves, for our lives? You think about it?
Speaker 1:I think I've said this a couple of times on Monday Mindset and a few other places, but this is not a dress rehearsal. My grandma always used to say that to me. This is not a dress rehearsal. Get up, dress up, show up. Stop hitting that snooze button and really wasting away 158 hours a year. That's wild. Imagine what you could do with 158 hours throughout the course of a year. That's an amazing amount of time.
Speaker 1:So I think to offer to your brain this idea that, hey, what happens if I don't hit snooze? How does my life change? Does it change exponentially for the better? Because I'm not falling in and out of sleep and waking up actually more groggy, as hard as it is that alarm goes off. Man, you do not want to wake up, you do not want to get out of bed, but the thing that I tell myself is get up, dress up, show up, and I pull the covers off and I get out of bed and I start my day and I will tell you right now that it has made a massive difference for me in my own life.
