Caitlin
Well, hello teachers, and welcome to your Monday Mindset podcast episode. These are short, little snippets of thoughts, reflections that I share with you on a weekly basis, that are focused around mindset things that we can do to live our best lives, to live an intentional life, and I invite you to not just listen to these for yourself and how they apply to you in your life, but consider sharing them with other people too. Consider sharing them with your students every Monday and having a conversation about it and doing a reflection together, because I think a lot of these thoughts, these topics, these questions are just a part of being human, and sometimes being human can feel lonely and to know that other people are struggling through some of the same challenges that you are and are benefiting from having these types of conversations is hugely powerful in allowing us to get to be the best version of ourselves, to take who we are and who we be and who we show up in the world as to that next level. So I really hope that you enjoy these Monday Mindsets and, if you do, let us know over on our Instagram at Evie Academics. Thanks so much. So it's interesting.
Speaker 1:We always do a batch planning live event, one in the winter and one in the summer. And I noticed sometimes how there are participants who have a lot of self-doubt as to whether or not they can actually do this. And it's interesting because they're surrounded by hundreds of other people who are evidence that it's possible. Right, hundreds of other teachers are there, batch planning, getting their plans done, sharing their wins. You know proof, real life proof that, yes, you can do this, yes, this is possible. But so many of our participants will sit in that self-doubt Well, I can't do it because, or it's not possible for me because, right, arguing for our limitations, which you know I'm going to say we should not do, right at all. But how do we overcome that self-doubt? How do we move past that self-doubt? And it's hard. You know, I'm a pretty confident person. I speak my mind, I don't have a problem, you know, speaking in front of other people and showing up. However, there have been certain situations where, yeah, for sure, I had self-doubt Am I actually capable of doing this? And I think one of the most important lessons that I've taken away from being in those situations and moving through them is the importance of just doing it despite the fear.
Speaker 1:Right, we've talked about courage on the podcast before, with another Monday Mindset in the past, that the best thing that we can do for self-doubt is to create our own evidence against that doubt. Right, to have concrete proof ourselves that it's possible. Right, not just other people. Right, because we can make excuses for ourselves all day long, but for ourselves that we actually are capable. And that starts with small baby steps, with things right, doing one, taking one inch instead of a mile right, and being happy with that progress and the importance of looking back and recognizing the recognition of what you've done. That's hugely important too.
Speaker 1:So, when it comes to batch planning, when it comes to dealing with difficult parents, when it comes to any of your own personal goals in your life, whatever it might be that self-doubt that you're experiencing one, you have to do it anyway. You get to do it anyway despite the fear, right, the courage in the face of fear. And also you're now creating this bank of evidence to support that you actually are capable, that when you look at that, you are building your confidence. Oh yeah, look at that, I did do that, right. Oh yeah, oh, I can do that. And that's going to build that overcoming of self-doubt over time.
Speaker 1:But the first thing that it takes is stopping arguing for your limitations and starting to actually do something right. It's in the doingness that we get to create that evidence, so I hope that this serves you in some capacity. Whatever it is in your life that you're dealing with when it comes to self-doubt Maybe it's being a good mom, maybe it's being a good partner, maybe it's being a good teacher, maybe it's being a good batch planner whatever it might be, it doesn't matter. It's still applicable to continue to create that evidence for yourself. All right, here's to another great week, you guys, of living intentionally.
