Uncovering Wisdom in Bible Journaling
Speaker 1Ever get a little tired of those like what are you grateful for? Journal prompts, the ones I mean, yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, they're everywhere Totally.
Speaker 1So today we're diving into something with maybe a little more you know, depth Bible journaling prompts. Huh, now, before you say, whoa, hold on, that's not really my thing, stick with us, because we're going to uncover how, like, the hidden depths of these prompts can actually apply, even if you, you know, aren't particularly religious.
Speaker 2I love that. Yeah, it's like they're almost like these, you know, kind of hidden gems of wisdom.
Speaker 1Exactly.
Speaker 2That you wouldn't expect from you know that particular source.
Speaker 1Exactly, and we found this awesome blog post by Lestallion. They're an online shop specializing in journals and they have this post called like 50 Bible journaling prompts, and it's all about, like you know, deepening your spiritual journey, but the prompts themselves can be used by really anyone, right? So let's start with the personal reflection section. Prompt one is reflect on a time when you felt God's presence in your life.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1And you're probably thinking I'm not sure I've ever felt that exactly.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1But what if we thought about it a little differently?
Speaker 2Exactly yeah. Like how can we make this relevant to, like you know, everybody? Yeah?
Speaker 1exactly Like. It's about those moments of really feeling connected to something, something bigger than yourself, Right, and that could be anything like you know gorgeous sunset, the power of music, even like a really deep conversation that totally shifted your perspective.
Speaker 2Totally yeah, like a moment of awe or wonder. Right, exactly, we've all had those.
Speaker 1Regardless of our beliefs. Yeah, regardless of our beliefs. Yeah, exactly, okay. Prompt four asks. Describe a moment when you felt lost and turned to God for guidance.
Speaker 2Hmm.
Speaker 1We've all been there, right, oh?
Speaker 2yeah, a hundred percent. Feeling lost is part of the human experience.
Speaker 1Totally.
Speaker 2It's about those times when you're searching for some direction. Maybe it's through introspection or advice from someone you admire, or even just you know, trusting your gut feeling.
Speaker 1Exactly Like standing at a crossroads you don't really know which way to go. And now this one might seem even more specific, but stick with me. Reflect on a Bible story that reminds you of a personal experience. Ok, so how do we relate to this if we're not, you know, super familiar with the Bible?
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1Well, it's about those universal themes and stories. Take David and Goliath. You might not be facing a literal giant, but I think we've all felt like the underdog at some point, totally, and this prompt helps you examine a time when you defy the odds and what you learn from that experience. Odds and what you learn from that experience.
Speaker 2It's those moments of like I don't know courage or resilience, or even like facing your fears, that really resonate, right?
Speaker 1Yes, and those moments. They're in those ancient texts, but they're also in our own lives and we're starting to see that these seemingly like religious prompts, they actually offer really surprising ways for anybody to you know, learn more about themselves.
Speaker 2Yeah, like self-discovery.
Speaker 1Exactly For everyone. I love that gratitude prompts like we've all seen a million of those Right, right Been there done that.
Speaker 2Right yeah.
Speaker 1But these have a little bit of a different like a different spin on them.
Speaker 2Okay, okay, I'm intrigued.
Speaker 1Okay.
Speaker 2Tell me more.
Speaker 1So prompt one in this section is reflect on a time you felt grateful for God's provision.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1So we're going to shift away from that. You know the very explicitly religious part of it.
Speaker 2Right.
Speaker 1And think about it as like how could we be grateful for the good things in our lives, Like just in general?
Speaker 2Right, like taking stock of all the good stuff we have. Yes, that we might just be taking for granted.
Speaker 1Exactly Like that friend who came through for you when you really needed it.
Speaker 2Yes, oh yeah, or even just like a beautiful sunny day when you needed it.
Speaker 1Yes.
Speaker 2Like those little things.
Speaker 1Exactly and then prompt. Four is reflect on a difficult situation that turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1So it's that whole like finding the silver lining thing, but it's a little deeper than that.
Speaker 2Right, right. It's not just like putting on rose colored glasses.
Speaker 1Exactly.
Speaker 2It's more than that.
Speaker 1And it actually it reminded me of this quote by Melody Beattie that they include in the blog post, and the quote is gratitude turns what we have into enough and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order and confusion into clarity.
Speaker 2Whoa, right, that's. That's really powerful. It's like this, like the shift in perspective, right when you're, you're taking something that was maybe negative or challenging and you're you're finding a way to see, see the good in it, see the lesson in it.
Speaker 1Exactly, and it's not about, you know, pretending that the hard things weren't hard, right, it's just, it's like you said. It's that shift in perspective, yeah Right. It's just it's like you said, it's that shift in perspective, yeah, to say OK, like even though that was really difficult, maybe even terrible. What did I learn?
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, what. What came out of that?
Speaker 1Exactly Did.
Speaker 2I gain any strength? Did I you know? Did I learn something about myself? Like that's where the the real growth is.
Speaker 1And and that's such a powerful tool for anybody you know, religious or not.
Speaker 2Absolutely.
Speaker 1Like that's just about being human.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's like the life skill.
Speaker 1Yes, it is.
Speaker 2Gratitude reframing, like that's how we navigate the world and come out, you know, stronger.
Speaker 1So we tackled personal reflection, we dug into gratitude, we did, and now we've got one section left. This one might seem like a real head scratcher, especially if you're not particularly religious. We're going into prayer.
Speaker 2Okay, yeah, prayer, that's a big one.
Speaker 1It is a big one.
Speaker 2Yeah, how are we going to make this relevant to our whole audience?
Speaker 1Exactly. But that's the beauty of these prompts, Right? They really lend themselves to being you know.
Speaker 2Reframed yes, reframed.
Speaker 1So prompt three in this section is consider a time when you felt your prayers were unanswered. How did you cope and what did you learn from the experience?
Speaker 2Okay.
Speaker 1So again, maybe you don't pre in the traditional sense Right. We've all, haven't we all.
Speaker 2Had those moments, those moments where it's like you know we're hoping for something, we're putting it out there. And it doesn't work out the way we wanted it to.
Speaker 1Exactly Unmet expectations.
Speaker 2Yes, Unmet expectations and I think you know this prompt is really asking us to sit with those moments of disappointment, you know. And how do we deal with that? What do we learn from that?
Speaker 1Exactly yeah, and it's all about resilience.
Speaker 2Yes, right, which is a skill we all need.
Speaker 1We all need Exactly Okay, ready for the last one.
Speaker 2Hit me.
Speaker 1Okay, number seven. Write about the different types of prayers you use.
Speaker 2How do they each play a role in your spiritual life? Ah, okay, that one. That was a little tough.
Speaker 1This is a tough one, yeah, right.
Speaker 2But I think we can do it.
Speaker 1I think we can do it too.
Speaker 2Oh I.
Speaker 1What if? What if, instead of prayer, we thought about it as introspection?
Speaker 2Ooh, I like that.
Speaker 1Right, yeah.
Speaker 2So instead of different types of prayers, it's like different ways that we connect with ourselves, right?
Speaker 1Exactly so it could be Journaling, journaling.
Speaker 2Meditation.
Speaker 1Spending time in nature.
Speaker 2Yes, right, all those things that bring us peace, that help us, you know, sort of clear our heads and connect with that inner voice.
Speaker 1Yes, exactly so. Even in this, you know, really explicitly faith-based section, there are tools.
Speaker 2Right, it's amazing it's amazing who knew Right.
Speaker 1It's like we're learning a new language. Yes, that lets us access this whole other level of meaning.
Speaker 2It's like a secret code or something it is.
Exploring Universal Insights in Journaling
Speaker 1It totally is, and it's just. It's so cool how something that's, you know, rooted in a specific tradition, can still offer.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Like universal insights.
Speaker 2Absolutely, and I love how you know. We've shown that you don't have to. You don't have to subscribe to any one belief system. Yeah, to find value in these practices in these prompts.
Speaker 1It really highlights how like inspiration can come from anywhere yeah, 100 and it's really about looking at things from different perspectives yeah, yeah, being open-minded, exactly curious and you know if, if I can leave our listeners with one last thought don't be afraid to experiment oh yes right. If god doesn't work for you, swap it out.
Speaker 2Right, make it your own.
Speaker 1Yes, try the universe or my higher self, or even just like the forces of good in the world I love that yeah, like who are you trying to connect with? Yes, what resonates with you Exactly, because it's really about your own personal journey.
Speaker 2Absolutely.
Speaker 1So thank you for joining us for this deep dive. We had so much fun exploring these prompts so much fun until next time it's again keep exploring, keep questioning yes most importantly, keep journaling keep driving.
