Speaker 1Okay on all ears. This one is all about the future. Imagine my ideal life five years from now.

Speaker 1Right, but it goes on to ask what goals will help you get there and what excites you most about that vision.
Speaker 2So it's like dreaming bid and making a plan at the same time.
Speaker 1Exactly so thinking about the future we want, it can be so motivating, right.

Speaker 1Do you have any tips for like actually setting effective goals?
Speaker 2Well, you know, one thing that always helps me is that SMART framework. Smart, yeah, it stands for Specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and Time-bound.
Speaker 1Oh, I like that, so it's got to be specific.
Speaker 2Right, not just like I want to be happy, but like I want to run a marathon by next year.
Speaker 1And measurable, so you can track your progress.
Speaker 2Exactly and then achievable, like something you can actually realistically accomplish Right. Keep it realistic and then relevant. It has to be something you actually care about, of course, Makes sense and, finally, time bound. Give yourself a deadline to work towards.

Speaker 2We all need a little push sometimes.

Speaker 1Right, it's forcing you to be honest with yourself about those.
Speaker 2Those tough feelings we all have.
Speaker 1Exactly, but you know, it's okay to feel hesitant about facing them.
Speaker 2Of course it's natural to want to avoid unpleasant things.
Speaker 1But sometimes you know, facing them head on. That's the key to growing and healing.
Speaker 2I agree. You can't really move forward if you're constantly avoiding something.
Speaker 1What advice would you give to someone who's like really struggling with a difficult emotion?
Speaker 2Well, I think, first of all, be kind to yourself.
Speaker 1Yes, self-compassion is so important.
Speaker 2It is it's natural to resist those uncomfortable feelings. Passion is so important. It is it's natural to resist those uncomfortable feelings. Just start by naming the emotion. You know, without judgment.
Speaker 1Oh, that's a great tip, just saying it out loud.
Speaker 2Exactly Like I'm feeling anxious or I'm feeling sad, you know.
Speaker 1Sometimes just acknowledging it can be such a relief.
Speaker 2It is, and then you know. Try to understand why you're feeling that way, what triggered it, what thoughts are, you know, contributing to it?
Speaker 1That's such a helpful approach and like sometimes just writing those feelings down in a journal.
Speaker 2Yeah, it can be so therapeutic.
Speaker 1It really is Like you're giving them space to exist, to be processed.
Speaker 2Exactly, you're not bottling them up inside.
