Welcome to the Friday mini-episode of the Dr. Sex Fairy Podcast that discusses the Bawa Sutra. I am Dr. Kanwal Bawa, America’s favorite sex doctor and I am here to transform your life. Let’s start by discussing the four necessities of life according to the Kama Sutra. Firstly, there is Artha, or material goods that ensure survival. Secondly, there is Kama, or the erotic practice or sensual pleasure that ensures the transmission of life.

Thirdly, there is Dharma, the moral code upon which life and society are built. And last but not least is moksha, or the liberation from the cycle of birth and death. In many eastern cultures it is believed that the soul is neither born nor extinguished by death. It lives on and simply travels from one body to another. The idea behind moksha is to end that cycle and attain salvation.

I’ll bet you are wondering how I am talking about a pornographic text in these terms. You see, the Kama Sutra is not a pornographic text at all. It is more a concept of how to live a fulfilled life. It teaches the art of living. It teaches us how to live a life that is grounded in finance, spirituality, eroticism and duty. We are certainly going to get into tips about how to have incredible sex but we must first discuss what eroticism is, and how these four basic tenets of the Kama Sutra can help you live a more fulfilled life even in today’s day and age.

According to the Kama Sutra, eroticism is essentially a search for pleasure. While intercourse can bring you pleasure, it is not the only way to achieve it. You can kiss a partner in different ways. You can even bite them in sensual ways but only to the point where your partner is on board with the idea. Consent is part of the discussion of eroticism in the Kama Sutra, as is female pleasure, and so in many ways this text was ahead of its time.

It discusses sex positions but it is far more complex than just sexual acrobatics. Sex is not just something you do to make babies. It is seen as something that is key to an elevated life state where you can be erotic and spiritual.

As someone who was born and raised in India but has lived almost her entire adult life in the US, I find it very amusing when people think that Indian and other eastern cultures are very sexually restrictive and repressive. Nothing could be further from the truth about various eastern cultures including my own. India came up with the Kama Sutra thousands of years ago. And look at the beautiful and sensual carvings inside ancient Indian temples. You will never see India as prudish again.

We will certainly go deeper into the teachings of the Kama Sutra in upcoming Friday mini-episodes. My Tuesday episodes are longer and cover different topics such as erectile dysfunction, vaginal rejuvenation, penis enlargement, and more. Make sure you listen to both episodes each week to get the best East meets West sexual knowledge and tips. If you would like to receive my newsletter, sign up now at drsexfairy.com. Until next time.
