Speaker 2:And we are live. We are back for another episode of the Vision Quest podcast. We are joined, man. It's been a while since I've had you here, wisconsin grappler, so we got Wisconsin grappler here. We got coach Hortonville, wrestling head coach Chris Gennrich. Thank you very much, chris for taking time out of your schedule.
Speaker 2:Appreciate it. And we got the dude that's on vacation this coming weekend here. He's not even refing at the state, the state tournament. We have official Steve Skarta joining us, so thank you very much for joining in with us. I wanted to have yeah, I wanted to have kind of an eclectic kind of group to be able to have a mix of opinions and thoughts and, like you know, a coach sees something different. You know rankings, guys looking at the numbers, even though you are coaching at the same time. So there's that. And then there's just stupid old me, the guy that's screaming up in the stands. You know that's making a fool of himself and making refs wonder why they show up every day. But yeah, so we are going to talk, we're going to talk a little bit. What's that?
Speaker 4:It is definitely for the entertainment value.
Speaker 2:Perfect, perfect. So we are going to talk about brackets folks. Now I know that Tegh and Steve are going to be doing something eventually here too, but those guys go way more in depth than we do. We're going to do kind of a quick rundown. We have special matches that we're kind of looking at. There's some ranked guys that are coming up. Coach, I know you got some guys that are going to be down at state. So I know we want to talk about those guys a little bit, see what's going to happen with them, and then, you know, once in a while we're going to be having some questions about, you know, like rules and things like that. I know there's some new ones this year. Maybe we got to clarify a little bit, because I have questions. But then we got the numbers guy who can say, hey, that guy's actually ranked here but he's seated here. I think that's kind of weird. So let's get ready to go.
Speaker 2:I'll start off here. We're going to go 106 D3, right, a couple of very familiar names that I hear everybody kind of talking about Blake Underwood's, the two seed I got them pulled up over here. Folks, I wish I could share the screen with you, but I would just take up too much room on the screen. Blake Underwood's the two seed we have in Grunfelder, number one. I'm interested in that becoming a real matchup. I'm pretty sure it will not throw in any shade and any guys that are out there, but these guys are pretty, pretty prolific. I mean 51 and one, 50 and one. I think that's going to happen for the most part. I don't know what your thoughts are there, chris, on that matchup, but it seems pretty clear cut.
Speaker 5:Yeah, I was just looking up a little bit. You know I'm not real well versed in all the D3 guys. But that Grunfelder, his only loss is to number four, Bruno Cassiopeia at Illinois. Oh, nice.
Speaker 2:So that tells you. Yeah, it tells you something right there.
Speaker 5:Yeah, who's Underwood's the one lost to.
Speaker 6:It was Johnson last week.
Speaker 5:Oh, okay, and he beat Johnson earlier, so they have a split. Okay, all right.
Speaker 2:Okay, so that will be interesting in Grunfelder. I mean that the Cassiopeia loss, that's a that's a solid loss.
Speaker 5:And that was only five to two, I mean. So, oh really, yeah, yeah, I think was that the Cassiopeia just took second.
Speaker 2:I think he took second on Illinois.
Speaker 5:I didn't. I didn't check the final results on Illinois.
Speaker 2:Lost a noble yeah.
Speaker 6:Yeah, that was probably a handsome guy actually.
Speaker 2:I know, right, yeah, all right, so we'll hop right to 113 on D3. Jake Fitzpatrick, drew Dolphin. So I always tell Tegue to vote or not vote, but pick with his heart. That's kind of where I'm going on this one. Because Drew Dolphin I mean I've made a comment, his mom posted something, had said something and he was in it and I said maybe we'll get lucky. No, it was when Tegue was doing his nine hours of nonstop joy Wrestling sexual bragging.
Speaker 2:That was fantastic. I said I hope we get the opportunity to see Drew in a really cool pinning position where he can pose for the camera. So we're down Wisconsin red and he was wrestling. He had a kid in a light cradle and then he put his hand in his head like this and he was like smiling for the camera. It's kind of fun. Hey Steve, what are you? What's the situation like that for you on the mat, if someone's doing that?
Speaker 4:If a kid's posing.
Speaker 2:Yeah, if he's doing something kind of not wrestling, he's just kind of showing off what's that? What does that do for you?
Speaker 4:It depends. Well, it doesn't depend For me. I prefer they act like they've done this before. Yeah. Okay, and you know you got him in a light cradle. You try to finish it off, but posing can be considered taunting.
Speaker 2:Really.
Speaker 4:Okay.
Speaker 2:So Drew take it easy.
Speaker 4:Yeah, so you're. You know, technically you're showing up somebody.
Speaker 2:Sure, sure, oh yeah, yeah, totally, and at that moment he definitely was. At that point in time that was what was happening, correct. So that's kind of my picks on that. I know I hate to go against Corrie and Law with Fitsie, but I got some long history with the Dolphin family so I'm going with Drew on that one. There's some other notables that are in there. I know Gavin Stark. He's been doing okay. He said what? Five losses as a freshman? It's pretty good. You know what are you looking at, chris on there.
Speaker 5:I was just kind of looking at, I'm just looking at Dolphin. I remember I saw his only loss at the on the water finals to Ethan Bast of West Bend.
Speaker 4:Yes, that was a good match.
Speaker 5:Yeah, it was six to five it was. It was a great match, came right down to the end. So you know, I haven't seen much of just because you know much of Fitzpatrick, but yeah, so that match comes to fruition, that that could be exciting.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure. Another notable that I saw in here another softball, only six losses was Lucas Orloff. Where's is he ranked on years?
Speaker 6:Yeah, I believe. So what is it?
Speaker 2:Six.
Speaker 6:Nice.
Speaker 2:Nice. So his seating is is fairly close and hopefully we can see him on the podium too. So shout out to Lucas. So I was really impressed with that record. Next we'll jump to D3 120. And while there's the obvious, right on top, there's Koji Campbell. I honestly it's hard. Is he wrestling?
Speaker 5:for his third this year. Did he win it? Yes, yes.
Speaker 2:He's wrestling for his third. And again, I don't mean shade on any of these other kids, but Koji's just he's been around forever and watching, watching him grow up, and just hard to be like. Nah, you know, flee, you would be a good match. I would definitely like to see that matchup. I just think Koji's got it. That's just kind of where it's at you know.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean when Ling looked good at. The only time I saw him was that the Shabuigan North was Herb Tyler.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, and he looked really good.
Speaker 6:He beat Mueller out there.
Speaker 2:Okay, what was the score you remember Like?
Speaker 6:five oh okay, okay. Wow, but solid win, yeah, it was very, very good.
Speaker 2:I think he's beat him.
Speaker 6:I think it's two and one against Mueller this year, but he's not Koji.
Speaker 2:Well, maybe that top four can make a make a good little matchup. We'll see what we can find out here coming up on Thursday. Chris, what do you got out of that one?
Speaker 5:I look at the the Crandon kid there, the fifth seed doing. We see Crandon on the water.
Speaker 2:Amazing yeah.
Speaker 5:They're, they're. They got some really good wrestlers in that lineup.
Speaker 2:What about the Crandon? Those guys do have some.
Speaker 5:I believe I heard they have oh I don't know four or five guys with a hundred wins and a couple guys with 150. Yeah. Wow Okay.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 5:Oh yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, one of them just just popped up for two of them. Actually, I think I shared them.
Speaker 5:Yeah, I think is it. Is it Glinsky? I think yes, elias Glinsky. Yeah, um Ski Was. I mean Nolan Ski, but who you know pretty tough for me, yeah. And he scrapped. He scrapped with Nolan on the water was a one or two point match and we opened the gap a little bit at the Pulaski invite. But yeah, no, they're tough. Okay, we see you doing.
Speaker 2:We see you, mason. Okay, um, what? What were some interesting matches you saw this year, steve? What were some of the better matches that you were able to ref this year? Yeah, you can be opinionated, it's okay.
Speaker 4:I didn't do a lot of of uh high school stuff.
Speaker 2:No.
Speaker 4:So, no, I, I well, I did. I did probably 12 dates, but oh, did you know, I do mostly tournaments, a couple of tournaments, and then I did some duels that were uh, this, this was, this was interesting, for all the wrong reasons. I rubbed I, I rubbed a duel me that ended up in a tie.
Speaker 2:Yup and uh it was a come on Criteria, though, right.
Speaker 4:Correct, but it was, it was. It was so far down the list because you're parsing for fits in this and that, and yeah, it was like 31, 31 or 30, 30. And oh my God. Criteria K. And both coaches are just standing there like don't you know this by heart. I'm like no, I don't.
Speaker 2:You're the best dude out there. How do you not know this? Come on, steve, I don't think anybody can keep them straight. No.
Speaker 3:I doubt it when I see that a duel that's coming close.
Speaker 5:I get the rulebook out. I get my manager Get that rulebook out and find the page. That's what.
Speaker 4:I know the first one unsportsmanlike and and and flagrant misconduct. That's one eight, that's the first one. I would say that I need to go to the rule.
Speaker 6:That's most wins, and then yeah. Yeah, that's by who I'm a pinfalls, and how many all the way down to like first point school tax and majors, yeah who?
Speaker 2:yeah, we had that. We had that down in a. It was a duel we had just with kids and we want to be in the Cassiope's team by criteria it was like criteria H or something like that and go all the way down that list.
Speaker 4:You know, you know, for me it's some of the interest the Well. Tuesday night I had a match where the one kid was just Handling the kid. Yeah. And all of a sudden he gets it. You know the other kid gets to take down, comes back, ends up pinning him, he and he was up big, he had all. Yeah, just like.
Speaker 6:Yep, yeah, I know the match.
Speaker 2:You know you did, oh, yeah, okay. Okay, I see where we're going. You're Zach, yeah.
Speaker 4:I mean.
Speaker 2:Yeah, well, it's the end of the season, you know that's. The other thing too is like that. That was the one thing that kind of sticks out in my head with when it comes like rankings and things like that one. Now we're at this point of the season. Guys can be ranked whatever they want to be ranked at this point, I mean, obviously it matters once you put them on a bracket or trying to put them on a bracket, but once they're in there, like you're, you're one, two, three, four, five. That that shit doesn't matter anymore, you know so it's.
Speaker 2:It's been interesting to watch these just these last couple of weeks alone, just to see the outcomes and the names that are popping up. But so we're on D3 126. Yes, we got me on the bottom and then we got under up on top. So here's another one Isaiah Sanchez. Put around those Sanchez brothers for a while. You know that's a, that's a good little group of guys. But you know, honestly, knowing the onzer power and the speed, I, I'm going to go on the number one, but I want to put Isaiah Sanchez somewhere.
Speaker 6:Number two that's a yeah, but he's kind of what I wanted to lose the Mies for a fifth last year. Yeah, so he got six last year and Mies got fifth.
Speaker 2:I mean, I like third, third. Sorry for Sanchez.
Speaker 5:I see that's where he's ranked right now is third.
Speaker 2:Is it? Well, I don't like that.
Speaker 5:That's a great family.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, totally, Totally. What five, five boys that are wrestling at the same time?
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's crazy I don't know how you balance all that. That's crazy. Like we have Liam and that's fine, I'm good on that, you know. And then then you got all these families that are in wrestling. Then baseball season comes around, then they're traveling around for baseball for six months. It's like you guys, it never ends the DeGroots. That's another one Point. You know, 20 kids. They don't have 20 kids. Sorry, degroots, but so I got. I got on their number one. I would like to put Sanchez number two. I'd love to see him get there. I don't think he's going to beat on there.
Speaker 6:Yeah, let's see. You know he beats on the right. He's looking to win it.
Speaker 2:I know right. No I know, but that's where I'm at Mies number two, I'd like to see Sanchez take third, though. That'd be great, that'd be great. That's where I'm at when. What are you? What are you picking? I you're sitting over and not saying anything. You're the one who puts the numbers together.
Speaker 6:You know you got a bugger. Yeah, I mean, I answer has been having a great season. I don't see anybody stopping him. No, like he's just a little bit of little notch above all these kids.
Speaker 2:Oh, I'll throw out. I'll throw out a little sun towards, towards Finley. I'll give him, I'll give him a little again, bring him into the mix a little bit, maybe.
Speaker 6:Maybe him and Sanchez battle it out a little bit, yeah he was a late bloomer on my rankings, like I did not put him until probably three weeks ago. I just Sanchez happened Upon him.
Speaker 2:Sanchez won't see him anyways On the other side of the bracket. So, yeah, sanchez has to beat under once again to even see that. But that's that's where I'm at. I got my top three on that one.
Speaker 6:Yes, three. Oh. Last time you wrestled that, finley wrestled me, so it's three. Oh, so it's not a blowout. So if you can get past to Lez, it could be a good semi.
Speaker 2:It was bird right on. All right coach. What do you got?
Speaker 5:I don't know a lot of those guys in that bracket. Like I said, I'm pulling for Sanchez. You know, I realized as deck stacked against him there at, you know, in that semi final match probably. But you know I've done some privates with those boys and seen him at at aviators growing up, so I'd like to see him pulling upset and make the finals.
Speaker 2:But that'd be sweet. Yeah, I know I'd high five in the hallway, that's for sure. So we got. Next. We got D3 132. We have Hunter Stevens. I've heard the name a couple of times but I haven't seen him wrestle. But we got Mason carpenter on top. I know Mason's all right, right, but I think I think Hunter Stevens is the means to take it. So I'm pulling for Hunter Stevens on that one. I'm going to go on the underdog side. The other guy that I do know and that I've heard a lot about is Carter Burtishaw. It's a From my leader.
Speaker 2:Yes, yep, I know that he's not a not a slow cheater, especially a 41-4 for a freshman. Yeah, that's why we get pumping out some dudes.
Speaker 5:Yeah, they've got a good team. They're a good team.
Speaker 2:They went, they went to where they went to Florida.
Speaker 6:What yeah yeah Some Scott Bill Scott tournament or something like that Really.
Speaker 2:Yeah, see, were you reffing down at that one in Florida.
Speaker 4:No, I was at the on the water with Chris.
Speaker 2:Yeah, oh, okay. Okay, I didn't know if you were getting vacation spots for reffing now, I don't know.
Speaker 4:I'm working on that.
Speaker 2:You're yeah, you're on like the gold watch type, like a movement right now with reffing. You're kind of getting all the. You can kind of pick and choose. How's that that college stuff? Is that a little more abusive?
Speaker 4:It can be.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 4:Okay, you know when you're. I think one of my mentors told me is just remember you're working with people that are coaching for their livelihood.
Speaker 2:True, very true.
Speaker 4:They can be a little more yeah. You know animated and you have to be a little more thick skinned with it. But you know, last, not last Friday, friday before I had a lot of cave in in Northern Illinois and they had a full blown gymnastics meet. It's called beauty and the beast, going on Same time.
Speaker 6:I wouldn't call the gymnast beast.
Speaker 4:Oh nice, and so there's no horn on the. On the clock, there was no towel tapper yeah.
Speaker 2:You don't want to scare the gymnast.
Speaker 4:Well, understandably, if they're on the balance beam, you don't want to go. Yeah, you know. So it was an interesting format, to say the least, and the biggest complaint I got was the heavy weights were being heavy weights. Yeah, so there wasn't a lot of action.
Speaker 6:Oh, I thought you meant like shooting a lot, or something.
Speaker 4:Oh yeah, they were all over. Hey, it's crazy because the one shot the Northern Illinois kid took, he got the taped out.
Speaker 6:Oh, you know crazy, we just like to keep our numbers up like a thousand percent percentages.
Speaker 2:That's what you guys are really worried about. That's a big guys, not a tacharate.
Speaker 6:Yeah, you guys can't tell it right.
Speaker 5:As a former heavyweight right, I love that heavyweight wrestling and you guys were there. Tell me what match had the most cheering far and away the whole day on Saturday. The gym was crazy for that heavyweight. Oh yeah, nehemiah. Oh yeah yeah. Against Cleveland, that was crazy.
Speaker 2:Yes, that was pretty cool to watch. Yeah, actually it was. It was a fun match in general because he didn't know who was going to do what. There was so much struggle and I get frustrated with big guys and I think that's kind of where you know some of the people you know, whatever at college matches get to us Like it's a different game. It's a different ball game all together. It's not. It's not a nimble 106 that's trying to run around and grab ankles. You know it's a. It's a big dude that's trying to move another big dude and it's even harder to grab that big dude's leg because that leg is big. Yeah.
Speaker 4:Well, just remember you, even even when you get up in the upper weights at the high school level, you know a 200 pound guy wrestling two, 15 is 15 pounds. I mean that's not a little bit of weight, but it's, it's a lot. You do bad ads up, but you, you could be 225 and you're wrestling a guy that's 285.
Speaker 6:That's a big gap. Yeah, our heavy weight weighs a 215.
Speaker 2:That's hilarious, yes, but, but here's the thing, though, is like I don't know that that was that the case back in the day, like I remember. I remember some of the heavy weights being like one guy was like enormously huge, but everybody else had the same type of size heavy weight. Right, you didn't see a guy that was like 197 trying to wrestle 285.
Speaker 4:Well, you see now, because, because back in my day the weight was unlimited.
Speaker 5:Yeah, yes, me too.
Speaker 4:You know here Paulie Ross, paulie Ross from from Appleton East.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 4:And he was over 350 pounds.
Speaker 2:See, this is the shit I signed up for, right here. These stories are here, yeah.
Speaker 4:His, his patented takedown he would. He would step on the opposing heavy weight foot and then lean on him and and and. You weren't getting your foot back, you were going down.
Speaker 5:Yeah, oh God, don't let him slip on your foot Both open from. Hudson made a living out of that too Not too long ago, yep. Oh man.
Speaker 4:But Paulie Ross, god rest his soul, his, his, his marks win in college at the Northern Open. He arm, rolled Jimmy Jackson from Oklahoma State, the division one national champ, and pinned them.
Speaker 2:Wow, that's impressive. It's impressive, it's impressive. You take that.
Speaker 4:On that mat at the time there was almost a thousand pounds of heavy weight and there was a couple of them.
Speaker 6:I was going to say, was it a triple team?
Speaker 2:That's a lot of dude.
Speaker 4:Jimmy Jackson was about six, five, six, six and and all of three fifty four hundred pounds.
Speaker 6:Thanks.
Speaker 4:And Paulie was like five, 10 and just round. He was just a big man.
Speaker 2:Oh wow, all right, so I'm. I got Hunter Stevens, who you got coach.
Speaker 5:I like Mason Carpenter. I know you picked the, the one seed there, but yeah, I mean he's ranked two and and I said I get to see him a little more going to the on the water tournament. So, I'm a little bit so maybe more of a center picking with my heart, as you say.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, perfect. Where are these guys as far as lineup the four in your rankings?
Speaker 6:Oh well, it goes. Hunter, stevens, carpenter, kerry, kerry. Where's birdie Shaw? Birdie Shaw is eight in mine. Okay, okay, that's the ones I go by. Yeah Well, I mean, this will be the fourth match between Kerry and Stevens, if it happens.
Speaker 2:So he.
Speaker 6:Stevens has won all of them.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so it must have been a head to head thing then, right?
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean kind of thing. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Either way, I don't want to miss out on Rone. I mean, don't get me wrong. I think I think I pick Hunter Stevens, but I think Rone Kerry comes pretty damn close to beating him, because I mean watching him wrestle and Liam's wrestled him once in the past and that was many moons ago but he's a good wrestler, good solid wrestler another Sarbacher.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean, we got two, two time runner ups. Yeah, kerry's a two time runner up, and so is Carpenter.
Speaker 2:So it'll be fun yeah.
Speaker 6:It'll be fun.
Speaker 2:Somebody's been one of the first one. These top four so far are not disappointing in the D3s, right, that's for sure. All right, d3, 138. Dawson Johnson. Yeah, that's all I'm going to say on that one.
Speaker 6:LA Beba has been Kalinsky. I love you, dude.
Speaker 2:Elias, I love you, kalinsky, I love you, love you, love you. Okay, I don't hate me, but Dawson Johnson is on a roll Like I can't I'm not a, that's the other thing. Like that's where Teague's better than I am. I can't. I can't gloss over things when someone's just that, it's just that, you know. And Kalinsky's, he's a great, great dude. I mean, obviously, his record for it was at 49 and five. That's a good record. You know Dawson is shy, but you got 55 and 0. Whoo yeah, wrestle your ass off of last. Go get them, take them out. I hope you do, but I got Dawson on this one Agreed, that's what I got. Elliot Beba is also a great name in there. It's not that he's strange to the to being good, but those two are just gonna be the one to watch I take through there.
Speaker 6:So I'm going Beba, all right, you're going, you're going is it?
Speaker 2:is it Beba or Beba?
Speaker 6:I don't know, I'm just going with him, all right you say, however, I'll say yeah, I mean he's been tech falling everybody this year.
Speaker 2:Does he? Yeah, I mean, who's notable? What's a notable match? Let's see like he. You got that on your stuff.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I got it. He tech falled Dylan Weigel, who's a returning third place. No kidding, yeah, twice, he's done it. Twice. He beat Crattachville eight, three, yeah he's. He beat Racky 17 to eight. Like that he's got really, really good wins, hey, Zach.
Speaker 2:Yeah, dawson Johnson, I understand, I understand.
Speaker 6:I'm going with the. I mean, I just like the, you know, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:Underdog dude. Yeah, you gotta take him and trust me, I'm going to be picking some. Can't go number one All of them.
Speaker 6:Crass doesn't like like throat, chop me.
Speaker 2:Yeah Well, he's too short right.
Speaker 2:No, not that way, it's a long way up there to you know. Um, okay, so we all kind of agreed on that one. Now, coach, we're going to be jumping over to D, three, one forty four, um, you know, I again. I love the Fenimore group, I love that crowd, but I got too much history with Colt Weiler Watching that kid grow up. I mean, he's been up to Liam's grandparents place and gone to camps and stuff. I got Colt Weiler on this one. Ian Krap a close second, but I'm looking for that one in the championship round for sure on that one. Let's see who else we got here. Brady Brady is another good choice. This is last year. Hopefully he can come through. Maybe he's the dark horse, but, um, I got. I got Colton. Colton Weiler. The Mugolski is another one to kind of pull out of here. He's a green-baked, watch him work hard. But I'm going to go. My one, two, three is Colton Krap and then, uh, yeah, I'll put Mugolski in the top three. That's where I'm going to go with that. Well, you got, coach.
Speaker 5:I'm just looking at who's this party bill kid Forty four and one. Yeah. All. Kingston.
Speaker 2:I don't know much about him, sophomore.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I don't know. I got six at 132 last year.
Speaker 2:Did he Okay All right this is growing.
Speaker 6:Yeah, he's got some decent wins, not I mean.
Speaker 2:Who's his loss? Do you got that on there?
Speaker 6:Yeah, it's from. Uh, it's Colton Hurts from Reesville. Oh, orisburg, sorry Orisburg.
Speaker 5:And I just looked up Colton Wiler's. One loss is to number two out of Minnesota, three to two. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I had some college classes with dad back in the day when I went back to the second degree, so a little connection there.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6:That'll be a really good final. I know that yeah.
Speaker 2:That will be for sure, and that's his Colton's a Greco kid he loves letting it fly. Yeah, yeah, the crap is too.
Speaker 2:Hey, we might see some Greco finals. Yeah, yeah, all right, d three one, 50. Oh, let's see here Blake Carton. I'm not going to murder this kid's last thing because I did it to gauge Uh, less savage. I did it to his name for a decade and a half, but I'm just going to go, uh, the dance of wets, that's what I'm going. Oh, I hope it's right, but I don't know that I can go with the one seat on.
Speaker 2:This way, I think I'm going with Blake Carton here. I think I'm going to pull cart cart. Oh, yeah, yeah. You know, that's another kid watching grow up. But I know again we can't do that. I know again we kind of promised with we don't know, a ton of these kids, but I have been able to see some of these guys wrestle now this year and, um, I just, I think Blake, I mean 43 and three, who are his losses too? Who Blake Carton? Oh yeah, I'll let you handle that.
Speaker 6:So yeah, it's um sorry he's, he lost Carson Herm from Sean Okay Six to yeah, strong kid he lost a rabbit from Germantown by fall.
Speaker 2:Not a bad loss.
Speaker 6:He lost Cameron Kimmel by injury, but he was down eight oh, so oh okay, no, he said.
Speaker 2:uh, it might be his knee possibly.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean, I'm I. The seating in this is ridiculous to me. Yeah, Cause like the tournament.
Speaker 5:Yeah, no, just discuss Hummeroids. The third ranked guy and had some good wins and I'm I'm off.
Speaker 6:Is is the eighth seed and he's wrestles. He's one and two against St Ano it's, if that's how you say his name, but yeah, he's one and two. He's got a win over the one seed. So I mean we could see a one seed go down pretty easily.
Speaker 2:Yeah Right, I didn't know that. Yeah, I know I know of him off, you know specifically, but I didn't realize that he had beaten them.
Speaker 6:So yeah, they're one and two against I'm still going with Carton.
Speaker 2:That's where I'm going. Um, you know, caleb Cromwell could come behind maybe and do something. I doubt it. I think like I'll beat him.
Speaker 5:Hey, how about? Hey, just with a name, like name, like stone pomeroy, I mean, hey, that's got to give you some points right off the bat. Right Couple A couple. You know I'm looking at 44 and three, I'm looking at um. You know, on Wisconsin, grab for rankings, you're, he only lost to Sullivan Ramos. Three to one. Who's a, you know a D, one stud.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5:Be the guy who's pretty good for me. Eight zero, so again with the extra credit he's going to get for his name, yeah. Be, my dark horse there.
Speaker 2:There you go, stone, okay, and a name I do know, but it just again with Blake Carton. It's the history thing. Um, gotta gotta go with the familiarity, but I will jump. I'll jump out of my, my comfort zone. So you're, um, okay, the name that I've been murdering forever. Uh, d two or no, that's D two, I don't want that one. D three, 157. Did we do 150?
Speaker 6:Yeah, that's what we just did.
Speaker 2:Oh, I get my paperwork all mixed up. What do we got on 157?
Speaker 6:Stout, yeah, stout.
Speaker 2:Oh, that might be your top three right there. That might be it uh stout bossy and then uh kukta.
Speaker 6:I did see that Connor mint mintink or whatever he he wrestled really tough against Lee. Oh yeah, so that could be an interesting quarter there.
Speaker 2:I'd really like to see it, though that one I must not have printed out there. There it is. There we go. Okay, yeah, Jackson bussy, that's a he's just solid wrestler Like Liam. I think Liam took a loss to him the freestyle I think you got beat by him and then he teched him after.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, he was not very happy about that loss. So, uh, mike, a great wrestler, I think that's going to be the top three. Though I'm looking at some of these other guys and, um, you might have a dark horse in. Uh, troy Duhlman.
Speaker 6:I mean, tyler Sunday is a three time place or he's got four, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:He's got 43 and one. That's a pretty decent top four right there. So that's I'm going to. I'm going with that one Good job. Track wrestling yeah, they fine Good job. So then we get uh 165 and I'm looking at Kade rule. That's a familiar name.
Speaker 6:Van and Bush yeah.
Speaker 2:Yep, yep, that's a van and Bush. Lee practices with him a little bit here and there, I believe down in maxes. Um, you know, I think on this one I'm probably going to go. I think Kade's going to be able to beat Van and Bush. I got Kade rule over Van and Bush and, honestly, I think I'm going to put a score on it. I think I think I'm on this one, I think I might go. Uh, kade rule six torn, van and Bush too. Wow, that's that. I'm going to write it down too. Let's write that down, then you can hold me to that one.
Speaker 2:He's doing push ups. I'm not doing push ups, I mean he did?
Speaker 6:he did almost give Son and Tag a a pity party like a pity parade or whatever. I'm not getting this. Fourth last year is three two, six to two.
Speaker 2:Kade, I wrote that down. There we go. You're welcome, kade. I just, I, just, uh, I'm putting your destiny out there right in the universe, so hopefully it helps you. Um, what do you got, coach? We hear from you here.
Speaker 5:Um, again, I know Van and Bush better than than the rest of those guys. I I really haven't seen any of those other guys and and I think Van and Bush is a beast Um, I like it?
Speaker 2:Yeah, Is I mean it is 43 and one senior senior year. Maybe it's the way, the way of the senior, but, um, cool, what, uh? What do you have for rankings on?
Speaker 6:the top four Van and Bush, first rule. Second uh, the five seed is my three. Okay, and green. Oh, I don't even know if he made it.
Speaker 2:I don't see him in here. Yeah, he was, oh yeah, green. Oh, yep, there he is. Eight, okay, yeah, eight seed, yep, so that's not bad. That's actually a pretty decent bracket. Yeah, it's not. Uh, there's no real slouch in it. So let's see, the lowest one would be Jack. Jack owns, I think, with the losses, but I think that's going to be a pretty fun one to watch. I'm going to keep an eye on that one. Yeah, so cool, all right, good, good, okay. Moving along. D3 175.
Speaker 2:Let's see, we go out Nash Banco. We got David Mallon from Aquinas man, that team, holy cow, okay, they're making I mean, they've been making noise for a couple of years but they're kind of nailing it down this year. But David Mallon, I again, it was burger with with Nash Banco. Nash is pretty tough. Liam's wrestled with and against him. He's a tough kid. I might go Banco, but I'm also a big Carter Luke fan. I'm a big fan of Carter, look. So you know, those guys let the ballot out. So hopefully, you know, nash winds up out, but Carter's man, that's going to be a tough one. That's going to be a tough one for him. But I, I'm going to predict a Banco Mallon, banco Mallon, the final.
Speaker 6:Okay.
Speaker 2:Not to be slept on trust the next time.
Speaker 5:I was just going to bring him up. He's going to. He's going to out place his seed. I think he's. He's pretty solid, soft when I'm I'm looking at he does have his, if he gets by that first one, his quarter final match up there against Becker. I just look at significant wins. He's lost to him three times Zero, three zero, seven and three seven. So maybe the fourth time's the charm for him.
Speaker 2:Yeah, close that gap a little more and get the win, that's for sure. Yeah, yeah, actually good kid, let's see, is there anybody else that I really think is kind of a sleeper in there? There's another.
Speaker 6:I mean, Riley Wanek is good.
Speaker 2:I was going to bring him up. Yeah, myra, yeah, I just think that's going to be the top four. It looks pretty solid, and then you have a trust in Riley you have X done.
Speaker 2:Coming back, and maybe you know I'm going to put X to the number three. I'll put him third. It's because I like the kid and I think he's going to do good. Even he's got a little bit of a challenge, but I think I think he'll come out pretty high on the podium. It's a good kid. Great family too. All right, d three one ninety. Steve, you're not sleeping yet, are you?
Speaker 4:No, no, no.
Speaker 2:If you know any of these teams you got, I'm telling you right now, jump in and let us know here.
Speaker 4:I'm a Coleman guy and other than Mike and Cooke, they didn't get much love in these seats.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I know how that didn't. It's very true, very true I got a very tough schedule, though, too, like they took some losses, you know.
Speaker 2:Yeah, where did they go? Did they go out of state for a tournament? This?
Speaker 6:year? I don't think so. Not Coleman. No, I'm not sure. I don't think so.
Speaker 2:D three, one ninety, Tyson Martin, that's my guy. I love again Sanchez brother in there.
Speaker 6:Another one.
Speaker 2:I love Elijah. He's a great kid too, but Martin's just, he's an animal. He is a guy that as soon as you see him tie up with another guy, that's almost like they all start running yeah.
Speaker 4:Yeah, here's an Elijah Sanchez.
Speaker 2:Yes.
Speaker 4:I've I've wrapped these kids since they were any big kids. Yep Eight grade he's in the state finals OK. Yeah. And he's just getting crushed. I mean literally. It's like 14 to one.
Speaker 6:Yeah, wow.
Speaker 4:Third period rolls around. He looks at me and he goes I'm like, all right, you want to control? And locks the kids straight to his back, the kids on the line. I'm counting back points and he keeps telling me he goes, I'm out. No, you're not, you're still in. And I keep telling everybody around the mat is yelling, you're still in. And the kids just stopped wrestling in late there. So I slapped the mat. Oh, I got it. Nice, that's awesome.
Speaker 4:That was the semifinals. I'm sorry it wasn't the finals and put him in the finals.
Speaker 2:That's awesome.
Speaker 4:And the kid got up and said I wasn't pinned. And the coach walked across the mat and goes you were flat. Grabbed him by the neck and took him off the mat. And he goes when the rest looking at you and he's counting, that means you're on your back, you're. You know you don't stop there, right.
Speaker 2:He's not counting just waiting for you to get out of bounds. He's counting because you're on your back.
Speaker 4:Oh God, that was, that's good.
Speaker 2:I get a kick out of when. When Machak will look at like if one of our guys isn't doing it, like if he's backing up, he'll look at the referee like he's stalling. Yeah, he's stalling, he calls it on his own guy. It's hilarious. But you're keeping your guys honest, right? I mean, hello, go back and up, dude. I love that stuff. That's great. Yeah, martin, there's just Bracen. Sorry, bracen Kelly, I can't leave Bracen out of the conversation, but I think, if anything, he's going to have a hard time in the either quarters or semis. But I got Tyson Martin all the way though.
Speaker 2:Yeah that's my dude, that is my guy. Any thoughts coach?
Speaker 5:No, I really. I like I said, I really don't know. I don't know what these guys yeah, except for the Sanchez family.
Speaker 4:Yep, yeah, right, right, and I roughed that Martin last year. He is a, he is a beast, so huge, it's huge.
Speaker 2:So in the way he, the way that he's built and the way that he moves, originally is so unassuming until he grabs you and then it's, then you better go. You're going for a ride, that's for sure. All right, we got D3215 Jackson Shrammack and Bodie Bocrop or Brocop Brocop. I put the R on the rowist cop. Yep, brocop. I don't know many of these other guys on the other side of the bracket, here on the back, there on the first portion of the bracket, but I do know Brocop in Shrammack from. I mean, teague and Steve constantly are bringing those guys up. So they're obviously doing something right. But I'm going to go off on numbers. I'm going to say Shrammack and Schrader in the finals. I'm sorry, I'm going to go with that. I'm going to. I think Schrader might do a little upset here. That's where I'm going to go off of. But that's me. You know any of these guys? Coach?
Speaker 5:I don't, but hey, I just. I've seen to be drawn to these five, five seats all the time here so far in the D3. Hellenberg from Boyceville, 24 and five sophomore Yep. I know Boyceville heck of a program so sometimes I just pick. I know the program pumps out some good kids. I'll take them on a flyer.
Speaker 2:Yep, yep, zach, zach, helen drawing the thing. Yeah Nice, it's a cool last name, yeah All right. D3, last one 285. We have all. I'm going to tell you this much. Right now I'm going to go with Evan Grotz, that's just so. Here's the thing is watching. It's his senior year. The kid's been kind on fire, I mean with some of the just to. He's kind of fun to watch as a heavyweight. You know what I'm saying. Like him and Nehemiah would be a fun match.
Speaker 6:Oh, they wrestled that. She said he put it on us.
Speaker 2:I didn't get to see that, did he? Yeah, oh, sorry I missed it, evan, I was probably out in the hallway. Yeah, he pinned us Pacing or something, so you throw him. No, no, no, I don't think.
Speaker 6:Just took him down and turned him. I think he sucked back around. I might be getting confused with the Southeast, he's so strong though we made to that top eight and it was bad Like we ran into ranked ranked nationally guy after ranked national guy.
Speaker 2:Oh really.
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 2:It'll happen. You're going with Hoffman. You're going with Hoffman.
Speaker 4:Yeah, yeah, and I've seen both of these guys. Okay, hoffman is a heck of an athlete, yeah.
Speaker 5:And he's smaller. Right, he's smaller, he's not, he's short, he's smaller, or 220 last year. Okay, not very tall, but he's as wide as he is tall.
Speaker 6:He wrestled 215 this year. I know that.
Speaker 2:Okay, all right. Well, you got some support here, hoffman, and I'm still going Evan, I got Evan.
Speaker 6:Yeah, that Kane Otto from Coleman, though he's a big boy too.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, oh, that's right, yeah, yeah he is a big boy.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's right, big time. Okay, that wraps up D3. Get this paperwork out of here. Nice, beat it. D3. Got some D2 coming up here. It's an autumn one, I think. Oh yeah, this is. I think it's all about bracket difference. Okay, yeah, that's right. All right, thanks Again. Some of these folks we don't know, every single, we are not. We are not Teagan Steve, we don't. We don't have, we don't break down numbers like they do. Zack probably breaks them down more, but we definitely have some guys that are going to be exciting to watch D2 here or right off, right off the bat landing bow guard.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I know that he's had. Some of the losses that he takes are kind of head scratchers, but I don't think. I think in postseason I think he's going to pull it together. I'm going, I'm going bow guard in the end. I know Parker Spearings is good, not sleeping on. I'm picking the dark horse here with the, with the little land and bow guard action. I don't know, shane.
Speaker 6:Oh, he's been on fire this year.
Speaker 2:I haven't like I haven't caught a match of his. I haven't seen anything that he's like any kind of replays or anything because I didn't know about him. Yeah, so um.
Speaker 6:Pretty sure he was a multiple time youth state champ, was he?
Speaker 2:Oh good, all right, perfect. But I'm going bow guard and Spearings in the finals and I think bow guard beats him. Yeah. Yeah, people are laughing because I'm a spreser and comments coming in right now. Oh, there's no way he's doing that, but I'm calling it. So, coach, what do you know? A couple of these guys.
Speaker 5:I do, Um, and you know people that that have seen me other place on podcast know my love for the Pulaski invites. So Garry Ganter from O'Connell Falls Did he win the invite this year?
Speaker 2:Yes, yeah, so yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5:So I'm going to give him a little love and then maybe see him put a little. I get it, that second round match is going to be a tough one, but oh yeah.
Speaker 6:Yeah, see what happens. Okay, okay. And this is another. Like, uh, jandren beat Spearings at sectional and their four or five, you would think that that would flip.
Speaker 2:Yeah, the head to head, yeah I mean last week too, I don't know.
Speaker 6:It was ultimate tiebreaker, yeah.
Speaker 4:But I think at the regional, I think it was just flip flop, oh was it.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay, okay.
Speaker 4:I think they've seen each other multiple times yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 4:Cause, like I know, luxembourg put like 11 in the finals and they had a rough finals in the region.
Speaker 6:Oh did they.
Speaker 4:Yeah.
Speaker 2:So yeah, that's it. I'm going to go that row with the coach. What, um, what was your top?
Speaker 5:pick At six. I got to go back to that bracket here and let me take a look. Um, I'm going to go with the uh, ingham from Amory, okay, just because I like his old brother, yeah.
Speaker 6:All right, he beat Hamill 7 0 at by state and that was a pretty good uh yeah, ingham's, he's no joke, he's good, he's good.
Speaker 2:Okay, so we got 106 covered, D2, d2, 113. Um, this is pretty, pretty simple.
Speaker 5:Yeah, that's pretty cut.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's Peterson, Sorry, everybody else man. Uh, better luck the next two years, wherever you're at, because wherever that kid's at, it's probably going to dominate. Um, I'm just knowing just knowing his training regiment. I mean he's out by Lucas constantly. You know he was down there training. I mean these guys he goes everywhere to train anywhere he can get his hands on. I mean I think it was last year sometime, it was just and he was just up here, I think, watching a tournament stopped in the practice room practice. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Like it. Wherever he goes, he's wrestling, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 6:I mean, I think he wrestles in the car and I'm pretty sure he's wrestled up as high as 132 this year, like he just like probably weighed like 20.1. Yeah, he just wanted to break that week. Yeah, crazy, he goes for the best guy at where he can. You know, he's always looking for that.
Speaker 2:I love that, yeah, uh, but again you still got Logan shot. Uh, nothing to to slow chat there. Brent Kajaric another, another, good, solid wrestler.
Speaker 6:Yeah, Um Q Wascom's really had a good year.
Speaker 2:Oh dude.
Speaker 6:They're on the rise for sure.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so um was it eight this year.
Speaker 6:Uh, not sure the total. Yeah, I think it was.
Speaker 2:I think it was eight, was it? That's the most in school history.
Speaker 5:We've seen them twice this year on the water. And then we see my the uh find like invite. They are yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:We got like three more, four more, five more weights where those guys are coming up here. So, um, so, yeah, I Logan Chad. I've seen him wrestle for quite some time. Uh, we don't pull for that kid a little bit. But, um, right, I think I want for my number two next to Hawking. Um, I know he's got, uh, he's got some guys he can dangle back there. Carson oh yeah, I don't know why he's back there. That's kind of a weird spot, I think, for Carson he's, he's uh.
Speaker 6:I mean he's uh, right, good, but I don't, I mean he. He was JV State Champ last year, yeah, so, yeah, so he's good it's just a weird spot.
Speaker 2:I thought he was. I mean, I thought he would have been seated a little higher. But that's what. It is. All right, I think we all agree. Hawking Peterson um D two one 20. Now we got Charlie is mut mute.
Speaker 6:I'm not the guy, I don't know.
Speaker 2:I, they pronounced it and they did it correctly. So I'm just going to say Charlie, I don't want to wreck his name Um. Brady Collins, carson Newbert, oh man, okay, yeah, these top five are crazy. Why am I golfing, holy cow yeah.
Speaker 6:Oh no, these are. This is ridiculous. I've not looked at D two very well Like this like guess as eight seed returning state place or well, that's pretty good too, it's good. Oh my gosh. Mueller and Collins orders.
Speaker 2:So yeah, um, so I think Mueller makes it to Collins, but I think Collins beats Mueller. So I think Collins will make it to Collins. They'll make it to the semis, but mute, I think it's going to go to the finals. So Collins, third Newbert's going to be in the finals.
Speaker 5:Uh sorry, steve, I think the golfing gets Newbert again there from Casco. Um, he beat him five to three at the invite, so there's a head to head there.
Speaker 4:Okay. Hey, chris, you have to remember my son, russell, there. Oh yeah.
Speaker 2:Okay, okay, so that's a. Everybody pay attention to D two 120.
Speaker 6:Newbert did beat um McGaulsy last week, though seven, five and seven victory. Okay, yeah, so that there's one.
Speaker 5:Okay, good, that's a good one, yeah.
Speaker 2:But I'm, I'm going to call Charlie the champ, but we'll have Charlie Carson and and, uh, I'm going with Collins at number three, Charlie going for his third or, you know, maybe Newbert starts his four titles, maybe he wrecks that dream.
Speaker 2:Yeah, maybe Can you be a dream crusher. Carson Newbert, can you be a dream crusher, cause dad probably loves a fact that we're just talking about that right now. Uh, d two, 126. Um, okay, so we got some more names in here. Okay, reed Sperly, number one. Ethan air, number two. Bob Huntley, number three. Max Gonzalez, number four. Um, I like that order. Yeah, I mean Max Gonzalez but I can't sleep on Jimmy racer. Oh I know, you know. Yeah, Bob Huntley's talk.
Speaker 5:Bob Huntley's talk. Yes, hey, I'm looking at Reed's record six matches.
Speaker 6:Yeah, coming back from injury. Okay, yeah, okay.
Speaker 2:So explain that to me, cause this is where I have questions on. So I know that obviously, if you're in the tournament last year, that has some clout as far as points and things like that. But you have a record of six and oh, how does that give you the number one spot?
Speaker 6:Uh, I don't, I don't, I don't know the. I can't remember the things right off the top of my head, but the what?
Speaker 2:the criteria was or whatever.
Speaker 5:Well um his championship from last year would put him there.
Speaker 2:I thought we were saying that that didn't have anything to do with it.
Speaker 5:It does. It's one of the top, okay, okay. Well, there you go.
Speaker 6:Reed lucky six and he beat the two seed six four last week.
Speaker 2:So so it kind of solidifies.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean cause if he doesn't probably aired, it's probably the one because, he's returning like second or third place last year.
Speaker 5:So that's interesting. Let's bring up another key wascom kid, James racer. Yeah, I can't say Jimmy. Hammer on top with an hour. Yeah.
Speaker 2:So Jimmy and Jimmy's had a. He's had a good long history of wrestling. I mean Liam and him used to go ahead to head constantly when they're younger, um the regionals. Every every, almost every year, they ran into each other and we would take second because he loses Jimmy. And then finally he beat Jimmy by one point at Keegan Keegan was coaching and Liam's corner. I'll never forget the one match that we didn't record. All the other useless matches we recorded they're not useless, but all the other ones from his youth, the one that really probably mattered because I mean Liam was balling after that match, it was so big to him and but he beat him by a point and then after that Jimmy couldn't beat Liam anymore, but Jimmy was.
Speaker 2:He was kind of growing up a little bit. He got into hunting. I mean, a kid kills everything. If it flies it dies, if it's brown, it's down. You know all the, all the combinations of killing that you can do in the woods and he does, he does it well. And then he got back and he started going to kind of run into the AWA a little bit and now he goes there full time and he's made a huge comeback. Yeah, so I think honestly, him being at six kind of hurts my feelings.
Speaker 6:I mean, Huntley majored him what Huntley majored him. How long ago though?
Speaker 2:That was a while ago, yeah, that was a while ago. I'm going, I'm, I'm. I think Jimmy beats Bob this time. Yeah, that'd be a that's where I'm going Turn around.
Speaker 6:That's 11 to three.
Speaker 2:Brilliant Move in.
Speaker 5:You know, I can just say that both those guys are bangers. Man, that's going to be a physical match.
Speaker 2:Yep, for sure, so I. But again it's the I'm going to my heart, you know holding on my heart on that one. Go Jimmy. Go Jim, I'm. Maybe we'll make a T-shirt. Go Jimmy this year. That's D two, one, 26. Again, that order looks pretty good. I'm just putting Jimmy in front of Bob.
Speaker 6:Yeah, that's all I'm doing. Max Gonzalez man, he's he's pretty damn good. I love to see. I can't wait for this, am I?
Speaker 2:Yeah, he's damn good, he's fun to watch. Um, okay, D two one 32. Colton hush one, T Hulser two, Peter Tomasovic three and Blakely bastion four. Um, yeah, you know they're sleeping on. It's kind of this is a really good bracket, oh yeah.
Speaker 6:It's empty at the 12 C. That's got to be the toughest 12 seed ever.
Speaker 2:Ever, ever Wow In them Same Where's the where was the other in them. From which one? Why didn't?
Speaker 6:you know that he's from.
Speaker 2:That's a memory. Oh, I remember what. I mentioned before. Yeah, this one's been pretty Okay. Um, I like that order, but I think Weston's, wyatt's brother, I believe.
Speaker 5:Yes, yeah.
Speaker 2:Trey, Trey and Ethan, Trey and Ethan, Trey and Ethan.
Speaker 6:Yeah, that'll be a good one.
Speaker 2:I will be. I'm having a hard time deciding who's going to win that one. I thought, I thought I think Ethan wins it. Trey is tough though. Yeah, if that's going to go down to a possible overtime match right there, god, in the first round, yeah.
Speaker 6:That's a nice bracket.
Speaker 2:Okay, so I'm going to. I'm going to put Ethan in front of Trey. Sorry, trey, you and your dad are great people, but I'm going with Ethan on this one. Um, I don't know that Ethan beats Blakely though.
Speaker 5:I'm trying to see it there. I'm not seeing one right now Is that key beat Blakely?
Speaker 6:Yeah, seven, six, that regional Possibly beat. I don't know how it went that sectional, but it must have been the other way around. I mean you can't really assume it the way they've been ranking them or seeding them anyway.
Speaker 2:But I think it's going to be a hush Thomas Epic final, but I think I think it will make it to the semis.
Speaker 6:Yeah, Peter lost to. He lost to Holzer at the northern badger.
Speaker 2:That's why he's below.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I think it was a match. So I think it was like four to six or something. Yeah, something like that.
Speaker 2:Okay, what do you got on that one coach?
Speaker 5:I'm going to take a hush and the freedom guy in the finals.
Speaker 2:I'm a seven. Yeah, yeah, peter runs with uh, with PD. They practice a lot together so, yeah, they definitely they bang some ideas off each other. So that's a good man. So we got 120,. 126 wasn't bad, but then 132. Yeah, this is going to be fun to watch. Okay, um, that kind of honestly that makes you makes D one look a little lopsided.
Speaker 6:I mean, yeah, that's, that's a good bracket Ten good guys at 132. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Okay, All right, D two 138.
Speaker 5:Oh founding father William Penn takes.
Speaker 2:Takes founding father. Guy Bryston Scholes is four. Mason Mao is three. Col Bozeal, another kid. A lot of history with him. He's a great wrestler. Um I I haven't seen who were his uh.
Speaker 6:Three losses to um he lost to Del Delbrue.
Speaker 2:Oh, okay, casco yeah.
Speaker 6:Uh, three, three times, I think that was just him. Yeah, I think so. I know it's two for sure.
Speaker 2:Okay, it's. Uh explains why is it a different weight.
Speaker 4:No, he's Caleb. Yeah, he lost him.
Speaker 6:What? Yeah, he's lost him twice. I know that for sure he must have beat him at sectional.
Speaker 2:Man.
Speaker 6:No, he got second at sectional. He lost him again. He's all. Three of his losses are Delbrue and he's seated above him.
Speaker 5:Is there a past state place winner in there? Yeah, I mean, he got a, that's that would be it. Yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 6:Oh, he got six. Last year Delbrue did, but and what was the deal? Bozeal got fourth and six, so yeah, oh, okay, that's a lot of averages there, yeah.
Speaker 2:It's just, I just don't get that.
Speaker 6:I mean if he's three and oh and oh and three against somebody.
Speaker 5:Yeah, that's crazy. I'm, I'm taking schools to win it all anyway there.
Speaker 6:So are you yeah? I have not got to see him. Yeah, I'm very excited. He's pretty good to watch, he's good, he's good.
Speaker 2:Um, I think I watched him wrestle. Um oh man, and he and it wasn't. It wasn't like he blew him out of the water, but he controlled him the whole time as a freshman. That was pretty impressive, um, but yeah, that's a. That's a good pick. You know, I'm I'm going to go with Penn. I'll go with Penn on this one. I'm going to let Cole Bozeal find his way to the finals with Penn. I think that's how that's going to go. Okay, d three or D two, one 38 done. D two, one, 44. Oh, this is pretty.
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 2:This one should be pretty, pretty simple. Uh oh, it's a fruit, Vote it. I got on that one. Sorry guys, Sorry Casco, Uh, you guys not. You're not being suffered.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean Kelly, and Kelly is he's good, he got third last year, but I mean, or suffered his do. Yeah, he's got second and third.
Speaker 2:Yep, I like to call him the mini Brock Lesnar. Way shaped his neck, I mean, it's the way he's built. It's like a mini Brock Lesnar. Yeah, so I got the fruit there. That's pretty simple one. Um, I don't.
Speaker 5:I don't know him. I don't think I've ever well I've, obviously. I've probably seen him out on the internet state, but never realized or paid attention.
Speaker 2:Right, sorry, sorry, bucker kid. Yeah, um D2 150. Oh, there we go. See now, okay, I know Danny Heiser. Well aware, you're well aware. I'm voting for cage, based on his name alone.
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I'm going cage. So sorry, danny, I know you're probably going to do something, but I'm going with cage because his name is cage.
Speaker 6:Okay, and that's how I'm picking. That's one way to pick them.
Speaker 2:Hey, you gotta be a little unrealistic sometimes, right? Yeah, max Ronson, that's hard to pass up on. I mean, that's a. I'm still going to cage. Yeah, his name is cage. Okay, max Ronson, sorry, I know you're. You're probably going to be in the in the finals, but it's going to be a cage.
Speaker 6:Then why he apologized and he knocked off. Hi there, I should be apologizing for that, that's wrong, I'm going with that one.
Speaker 2:I don't see anybody else in there. That's really going to give too much of a tussle. Derotia Can't sleep under Osher, but Ronson's going to be a tough one to pop out of the bracket and just kind of dominate.
Speaker 4:So I'll tell you that regional final was tight.
Speaker 2:Was it oh?
Speaker 4:yeah, it was a one point match, really yeah.
Speaker 6:I did not know that how much stalling.
Speaker 4:I, I, I both these young man's credit they, those two boys, got after it for six minutes yeah.
Speaker 2:Okay, okay, all right, respect there. My, my money's on cage. I should do it Like I should make a T-shirt of all the picks, I mean the wear them around state.
Speaker 6:See, there you go yelling me. Why is my kids yelling you? Even if your name's not, they probably will.
Speaker 2:That's why I show up, that's why I go to events. All right, so that was. That was pretty obvious on that one, right yeah?
Speaker 6:I mean yeah. I mean yeah, it's cage. Yeah, I don't think I'm going with that but everybody's picking, danny. I get it I get it guys.
Speaker 2:All right, so we'll go D two 157. Got a daily, you got a heart. You got a gauge less savage. There you go. I need to. I'm going to look that name up tonight. I'm going to see why and how they spell to like that. That's crazy.
Speaker 6:Wait, that's how you say that.
Speaker 2:Yeah the savage, really yeah, that's gaugeless savage.
Speaker 6:I always said loze, which I would have. There's no way I would have got close to that. I would not have got a sandwich? Yeah, not at all.
Speaker 2:I think it was.
Speaker 4:What looks way closer.
Speaker 2:I think I can't remember what event we're at. I think it was for one of the WI wrestle events or whatever and someone's like hey, is you know like, did you see gaugeless, gaugeless savage? I'm like, oh, I don't know gaugeless savages, and they pointed them. I was like that's loze, which, like you know, it's pronounced the savage, and I'm like come on, and then he confirmed Okay, how's it?
Speaker 6:says T confirmed this.
Speaker 2:T confirmed it. Yeah, see, probably got some dipping dots for um. You know there's this is a young daily and I know that he's he's doing pretty damn good. I mean 32 and five. It's really hard for me to look past gauge and probably why is he only 19? No, was he hurt?
Speaker 6:Yeah, he was hurt too, Was it yeah?
Speaker 5:What about Griffin Marco? Yeah, hard to sleep on that name, and right, I mean true.
Speaker 6:Well, the eight seed, the eight seed in this bracket, lost to heart. Nine, nine to 11.
Speaker 2:So he was at 165, wasn't he?
Speaker 6:Yeah, he was at one point. He I mean he was injured all last year. He was injured on the fourth and fifth and 22 and 21. Yeah, so he's tough.
Speaker 2:But Um, I'll go with Brodie. Brodie had a good match last year against Rhett. That does pretty pretty. What was it Two? Was it two to one?
Speaker 6:What.
Speaker 2:With a reconing.
Speaker 6:Wasn't it overtime.
Speaker 2:I think it was. It might have been overtime. I'm going to go with Brodie on this one.
Speaker 6:He won his freshman year.
Speaker 2:He hasn't won it again, so he's see if he can get back on his time. I want to take a.
Speaker 4:Marco, here yeah.
Speaker 5:I agree with you, Steve A hundred percent.
Speaker 6:I like that Denmark number six. I'm not going to even try and say his last name, but the Denmark kid he would he. He beat Peyton at the.
Speaker 5:At the invite. Yeah, oh, really, yeah, that surprised me.
Speaker 6:Oh yeah, that's right.
Speaker 2:Okay, okay. I think Marco is Cole's brother. The cold, I'm assuming.
Speaker 4:Yeah, that that name came up in the CD meeting. That Denmark kid. Yeah. And I just went. Stephen, yeah, whatever that guy, if you go through all the names to make sure the coaches are paying attention, yeah, Our coaches, just let me. I'm like I'm not pronouncing that.
Speaker 2:Stephen K. Stephen K yeah, do you imagine making a name badge for that too? Oh, five miles long. So many consonants, so many, so so many tongue twisters in that name alone. That's I'm. I got Brody Hart. You guys are going. Marco, yeah, where you going. Polo, where you going.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean I've got to go Hart.
Speaker 2:Go Hart. Yeah, okay, because you're a numbers guy. Yeah, I mean, all right, okay, so we got D2 165. You know, wathley, I'll give them the nod, just because I don't know any of these other guys.
Speaker 6:Oh, the cellular is good. He came up, though he might be small.
Speaker 2:All from 57. Yeah, I'll give. I'll give Owen the edge, just because of record alone.
Speaker 6:Oh yeah, yeah, I mean Owens on another level, on top too.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, he kind of showed that didn't he yeah?
Speaker 2:He penned Liam. They penned Liam at an event that they had. So he's. Liam made the mistake of putting his leg up in the wrong place. Yeah, he kicked that bad boy right in and turned him right over. So we'll learn how to kick that foot out of there again, aren't we? But so I'll give the nod to Owen on that one. St Croix, I don't even know who I'd pick. I mean to cellular, I guess number two, but I don't. I just don't know. I haven't seen these guys wrestle. Yeah, I think after this year I probably see a little bit more. But Schmidt sounds familiar. That's Sam Schmidt. But the lakeside Lutheran does not ring a bell at all. Again, some of these teams man that Tegan, those guys read off. It's like where are you?
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I don't know where you guys, where you're from, so cool. That's what I got. Coach, anything special notes on that?
Speaker 5:Just, I'm going with Owen, just as, like I said, I haven't seen any of these guys wrestle. Yep, yep.
Speaker 2:I think it's two. One 65. Sorry to disappoint you, that's what. We got Owen's open and shut case there. One 75. We got Mason Lane on top. Justin Klinkner. I know Liam used to run to Klinkner a little bit when he was younger but I haven't seen him wrestle since. But the record doesn't lie he's pretty close to the number one seed. Yeah, did he lose to the number one seed?
Speaker 6:No, he's. He lost the kind bomb and regional and then beat him at sectional.
Speaker 2:Okay, so I'm going to go with.
Speaker 4:Klinkner. I roughed that match. It was a really good match. Yeah, the difference was they got into a scramble and Klinkner got caught on his back coming out of the scramble.
Speaker 2:That's where he would, with Liam too, yeah.
Speaker 4:Would do, and regional At regional, yeah, okay, okay, you know. And then Klinkner just couldn't get any offense going after that.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean that kid's probably got to be huge. He was 90 all year and came down.
Speaker 2:So yeah, oh, he got you Still going to go with Klinkner.
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I'm picking him to win it. You're welcome, justin, it's my pick. How about you, coach? What do you got?
Speaker 5:Well, I'm not necessarily going to pick this guy to win it, but to out places, see, going to pick one with my heart here. Patrick Moore from freedom, oh geez yeah.
Speaker 6:He's got kind of on in the quarter. That'll be, that'll be a good match.
Speaker 2:What's it? Has Patrick wrestled him? I'm trying to look real quick.
Speaker 5:I don't see one jumping on it.
Speaker 6:It had to be a sectional.
Speaker 4:They had to see each other at sectionals.
Speaker 6:Yeah, yeah, he beat him 14 to seven at sectionals.
Speaker 2:He beat Patrick 14 to seven.
Speaker 6:For for sectional yeah, for second place, like true, second yeah.
Speaker 2:I'll play. I have Clinton, you're winning it, but I'll put Patrick. I'll put Patrick.
Speaker 4:I agree, I agree, I think it'll be about six place. I I. I agree yes.
Speaker 2:For sure.
Speaker 6:For sure, my dark horse to make the finals is the Medford kid, kawa. He's, he's, yeah, he put it on Brady at Eau Claire. Did he, yeah, yeah. I think he could do really well. I think he could maybe make the finals out of that.
Speaker 2:Okay, yeah, I got Clinton first, moore's third and I'll put Mason Lane second. I think he's going to lose to Clinton. That's that. What's 75 done? D2 190. Wow, why an Income, max Mathias.
Speaker 6:Oh, this is a crazy break.
Speaker 2:Trisha, I'm excited, steely. What's going on here? Oh then, the only one that I really know on this beginning portion of the bracket, like well, would be Owen Berling. Yeah. So I know Owen Carson Loshaw I've seen a couple of times, but I don't. I don't know William wrestling well enough, but I think I see him making it out of that, but he's not going to beat Silas, yeah. So there's that, Max Mathias. I got in the finals with Silas, for sure.
Speaker 5:I'm going to take Income over Mathias in the cell.
Speaker 6:That'll be a that'll be an awesome match. It's going to be an awesome match.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think, I think that's going to be one that Liam's going to be sitting by. I mean Max, he kind of chums around with him a little bit, so it'll be a fun one. It'll be fun, um. So yeah, that wow.
Speaker 6:So that's how that shown back uh Matthias go. I know Matthias won Uh. Were you at that? Uh sectional Steve, not like a regional, not the second, you were at the regional Okay and shown back, shown back, beat him at the regional right.
Speaker 4:I think I thought so.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I thought so too. Oh, no, matthias, matthias got a seven to three. Yeah, so he's won the last two. I didn't know that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, buddy. One on one at the okay, that's got some Max Matthias going on?
Speaker 6:Yeah, it's going to be. I mean, daily has been really good too. Yes, this was a hard. This was a hard one to rank all year.
Speaker 2:Yes, I don't. Here's the thing I don't. I, I don't think Max is going to be daily though. Yeah, don't think so. That's going to be a fun match, but I don't, I don't see. I mean so like Liam's practice with daily a couple of times, and his hands are huge. Oh yeah, they're gigantic. And not only are they huge, they're strong.
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 2:So he's like anytime you try to like get his hands off your wrist or something, because you're spending five minutes doing it right, because his grip is so hard, you know. So it's like he goes. He was wasting so much time to try and get out of the bottom.
Speaker 6:Yeah, Matthias hasn't really. I mean, he has one loss, but it's a, it's a like a slam, so that's his only actual loss. Was a, was a.
Speaker 2:Oh, really yeah.
Speaker 4:He has time or a loss too.
Speaker 6:Silas has lost a mirror solo twice. Okay, maybe three times.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's it though.
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 2:That tells him oh yeah.
Speaker 6:Oh, he lost to Sinclair too. Oh well, yeah.
Speaker 2:Well, whatever, yeah.
Speaker 5:That's another slouch, right, I saw schedule as he wrestling for crying all night. Yeah, no kidding yeah. He bumped up to wrestle.
Speaker 4:Someone, you really coughed. Wow, I'm kidding God. Oh man, all right, moving on up D2, 215.
Speaker 6:I'm a couple of these guys chase Matthias.
Speaker 2:Kale lies gang. Can we talk?
Speaker 5:about. Is there a taller wrestler in the world ever?
Speaker 2:ever at all that wrestled in high school sports.
Speaker 6:I don't think so.
Speaker 2:Because I think I can't. I'm pretty sure that if you were standing in a gymnasium and he jumped up just straight up, he could touch the ceiling. I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 4:I don't know. Yeah, tallest one I've ever seen in Wisconsin is Brady Stump, and he's six-nine.
Speaker 5:Oh yeah, heavyweight Kimberly back in the day. What, yeah, yes, wow, one of the most gentle giants I've ever seen. As a good kid he was a six-nine wrestler.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yes, he lost Steve. Come back Steve. Steve, what are you doing there? You go, you're back. I'm going to turn the lights off. What are you doing in there?
Speaker 5:There you go.
Speaker 2:Hand check. All right, so we got Hello, hello, can you hear me? There you go, steve. Chris, can you hear me? I can hear you. Okay, good, steve, can you hear us?
Speaker 5:I'm thinking that's enough.
Speaker 6:I don't think so.
Speaker 5:Steve can't hear us.
Speaker 6:We can see him, though, yeah.
Speaker 2:Can you hear him, Steve? We can hear you or not. He's got audio settings.
Speaker 6:Anyways, we'll keep going here.
Speaker 2:Okay, all right, we're on 285.
Speaker 6:No, we haven't finished.
Speaker 2:We have finished 215. Oh, I'm sitting here looking right at it. We were talking about Kyle Lisegang and how long his legs get. Yeah, steve, you let us know how you're doing. I'm going to take him off for just a second, all right.
Speaker 5:There we go. Hey, this is a crazy bracket too, with some really tough guys that's what I was looking for the five seat, yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we talked about Vols too. Vols just got 150,.
Speaker 6:I think right, yeah, vols just got 150 wins.
Speaker 2:Steve, can you hear us now? How about now?
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean theories. Only loss is to Garrett Kaczynski. Five, six at the at the by state, oh really.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it was five to six. Yeah, I just looked that up, wow.
Speaker 6:I mean the fifth five seat. There is crazy.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that is crazy.
Speaker 6:But I mean it has to be a text, Steve quick.
Speaker 2:Um, so I I'm honestly with this one. I don't. I didn't see Ian Smith wrestle, but he's 16 and 0. Yeah so it's chase, holy cow. 37 and 0. Yeah, I'm going to chase.
Speaker 6:Ian Smith is a runner up. Runner up behind Whiting and then won it last year at 95. So and he was hurt a lot of the year. I mean he's committed to. Northern Illinois. He's, he's good, very good I know that would be a very good match.
Speaker 2:I'm going to text Steve here quick. Well, you guys are so 215, I got chased. The number two. I I'll go Ian Smith, but theory is going to be number three.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I think so too. I mean, I think Smith gets chased, but there he is, he's back on there now.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I know, I don't know if he can hear us, though. Okay, steve, can you hear us? He's playing with the settings, oh God.
Speaker 5:You see he just typed. I had a call come in and I can't hear you guys.
Speaker 2:I just texted him. We can't hear you yet. That's fine.
Speaker 5:Hey, you can jump back in.
Speaker 5:Hey, brad, I just got a little intel here, uh-oh On my communicator what's that who said what we're going to go back to Liam's match with Jimmy Remember we were talking about that, jimmy Racer, yeah, yeah, yeah. And she tells me that you really can't get much credit for that win because you were way too emotional as a dad coach. He can't caught a little repping mistake with injury time at the start of the third. That was the turning point, so I just wanted to throw that out to you. I got I got some good sources out there.
Speaker 2:That was good intel, that was correct, I was the one.
Speaker 5:I was the one who was right upstairs in your house. That was good.
Speaker 2:I remember cause Keegan had to coach, cause that one I was too wrapped up for that was one of those matches where I was like, well it leaves, guy he, I know he can win this one, I know he can win. I was like it doesn't have to be by five, it doesn't have to be like 20. He can be by one, I know he can win it. I think I was whole, I was, my voice was fine the entire day Up until that match. I was screaming so much there Steve, I'm coming, steve, I'm coming. Can you hear us now? Yep.
Speaker 4:Steve's back. I had a full call coming in and all of a sudden everything went silent.
Speaker 2:Yeah, technology, I tell you what right so that. That is the. That is the Jimmy racer story. It was so weird and thank God Keegan was there because the injury time at the end Liam got choice, so he took bottom. Right. Cause Jimmy wasn't going to turn them. That was, that was. I can't believe we didn't video that match. All right, so we did two 15. I think we kind of discussed that a little bit.
Speaker 5:Yeah, two 85 is going to be a head scratcher.
Speaker 2:Let's see, I don't know Cool, how long is half a van? How long?
Speaker 6:is what Pop. You're going to be on the mat Less than a period Less than three minutes.
Speaker 4:Yeah.
Speaker 6:I would say so as well.
Speaker 2:Yeah, um, I got Hunter winning it, okay, winning it. Sorry Koi, sorry Koi. You, you're senior here getting to Minnesota. You're losing that championship. Sorry, that's what's happening. My money's going on the Clovers, my money's on the Clovers. I know.
Speaker 2:I think we all know what the outcome is. But I'm going with the dark course. That's why, cause right now I'm not betting anything, so I'll just, I'll say whatever. But once I start betting money, then I don't say any. Unless I know I'm winning, I don't put money down on anything. That's all right, that's how I, that's how I gamble. But yeah, no, I Koi's going to win, but hopefully Hunter can give him a little bit of a battle. He's fun to watch. Been around those guys for a long time too, but we got on the other side here, the first part of the bracket, willie Graham. So is that preacher? Yup, yup, sam Keeler. I don't know these other guys. I can't even. I can't even tell.
Speaker 4:Keeler's a two 15 pounder that moved up.
Speaker 2:Yeah, okay, okay, he moved up to hopkey.
Speaker 6:Oh, he moved up to get out of that regional. No, I know Like loaded at two 15.
Speaker 2:Yeah yeah, there's a crazy bracket, okay. Well, I think we know what's going on there 25. All right, so we are on to this point. Upset someone, but we're on to the, the premiere D one. Okay.
Speaker 4:D one. Okay, no D one.
Speaker 2:D one, okay, D one, okay. So we are on to the next point. D one, yeah, okay. So we are on to the next point and I'm going to do a little little bit of a rough One, oh six, so this gets a little crunched up because these brackets are a little bigger.
Speaker 2:So I got to do Well, all these other guys are doing now. I got a few pages and notes, just like you, brad, put these bad boys on here, so Do some reading. So I like obviously Andy's in it, you know I. But I have a lot of history with well, yeah and I love you is tough. I know rugs tried to, has gone against him several times and rug kind of it was. It was always to me it seemed like it's because their buddies wrestling each other and that kind of got in the way. As far as I know how good he is and I know he's done this, vice versa, you know, between the two it just seems like the shaman has always been able to kind of keep the cool together a little bit when it comes to maybe either being down or whatever, and but there's got two wins, three one and sudden victory in a five.
Speaker 5:One win, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:And then you got Bailey Casey. You know you can't not look at a Casey and wonder where he's going to wind up. So this is. This is going to be tougher with these brackets. Hamel looks a little small for 106. He weighs 108. I mean, the kid looks like a rail, yeah, he looks super duper skinny, whereas some of it like like, when you look at D Piazza, he's obviously came from 113 or whatever but yeah, we'd 107.8. That is crazy.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I don't know if it's in the hair like, but it does not seem like he weighs that much. I mean Armagost, that's another one. You know he's the three seed. Um, I think I'm going to get any rest, or Armagost. No no, we didn't see those guys.
Speaker 6:No, we beat the. I don't remember Real kid A lot of shit. Then the Auburn Dale kid beat Armagost Okay.
Speaker 2:So I'm going to give me any of the nod into the finals. I don't know that he's going to be to shaman. If to shaman is one, that's there Right.
Speaker 6:Andy did beat rug 12.0 in March.
Speaker 2:Yes, yes, so that I know yeah.
Speaker 5:I think Andy's length is do shemmins of buzz saw on his feet right From what the times I've seen him in? And again I mean I tried not to make predictions and all these just trying to put out information right. So people walking up to me this weekend, I just you know what I mean. That's the last thing I'm not making. Throw out information and create some banter and some conversation, right. Yup Andy's length could, could neutralize some of that, I think so yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2:I think the, I think the other one and again Casey, is not someone I want to overlook. I think Casey can definitely make his way to the finals. I just think that the shaman match is going to be tough.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean the toughest first round match I see is as need him and rug in the first round.
Speaker 5:I've got that one written down here too. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6:That's crazy. Yeah. Like I know rug, I know need him has had some injury defaults. Like he injured out against Armagas at the team sectional. Okay, and then at the, at the regular sectional as well, so so that one could be really really good, really good first round match.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I see Bailey making the semifinals, but again, the shaman stuff, um, I think it's DPS and the shaman in the finals and I and, if anything, casey's third, for sure, I think those, those seeds are correct. No, that's not correct, casey's four. But yeah, four close enough, yeah.
Speaker 5:And I'm going to bet need him finishes way higher than 12.
Speaker 2:Yes, I agree there. I'll hardly agree. So there we got. We got down with Jane Torres that's another name, oh too.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean that's. This is where they're inconsistent with this, because I mean, jaden Torres is a returning state qualifier. Why is he the 10 seed Right, right, right, like it's just not consistent.
Speaker 2:I'm fine with it, obviously, but right, right, but I don't want, I don't want Andy to be lower but as far as the pick goes like, why would you put him way?
Speaker 6:I just don't understand Like they they valued so much state, previous state, you know and so it's like a head scratcher.
Speaker 2:All right. So that was. That was the first, the first mass right there, because that's definitely what's going to be happening. We'll see exactly how it goes, but D1, 113. Um, I'm going to go with Brayton on this one. I think Brayton's winning it. Uh sorry, bast, I hate that. You know friends of those guys too, but it's, it's just as far as just to watching these guys wrestle. This year Casey's out kind of a mission. It's his senior year, you know, I think I think that whole family has been really, I think, just kind of dialed in. Yeah, you know, so it's, it's. I think that one's going to be a tough one for Bast, but I think Bast is in the finals. Oh, and Becker, another kid I don't want to sleep on. I know he's done really well. Um, wothkey again. So here's my thing with Wothkey. I didn't know about him until like pre, like post season here. Yeah, everybody's like, oh man, he's been doing this. So I'm like I I first time hearing of this.
Speaker 6:Well, he got bumped out a line of last year by Elias Schlump. Oh, okay, all right yeah, so he was good, he was doing really well.
Speaker 2:And.
Speaker 6:Elias, is that how you say it's a lawyer?
Speaker 2:A lawyer, a lawyer Schlump, yeah, okay, yeah, it's not my kid.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I'm not. I'm not good with this You're fine. I was pointing and say that guy right there, he, that's who I'm talking about.
Speaker 2:Well, yeah, I'm, I'm picking Brayton off the bat. Ethan, ethan would be number two. Um, Mike a Beckett, and I think, I think the seeds are pretty good there. Yeah, one, two, three.
Speaker 6:Wathi's beat Beckett the last two times yeah.
Speaker 5:Yeah, but how about that bottom of the bracket in general Beckett?
Speaker 4:Latvian Taysie.
Speaker 5:Yeah, totally Wow.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think it's kind of crazy, it's weird, so that's why. So sometimes, even like looking at rankings just makes no sense. Yeah, oh yeah, like taking it now. You guys may agree with Zach, but I've never heard of someone being taken out of the rankings because they were hurt.
Speaker 6:I never heard of that Well, it happens every week on my rankings.
Speaker 2:Yours, yes, but I've never seen it before, oh then now you have. That's cool. Oh God, but that's it I, that's my pick. I think those seeds are pretty good. Obviously, like everybody's saying wasky, it's kind of a weird spot for him, but I think that there's a dark horse, thiago Giordola, is that how you say his last name?
Speaker 5:from.
Speaker 6:Wilma, yeah, he's the eight seed and he be Andy in the middle school state last year, five to four. So Gordiola, gordiola, yeah, whatever.
Speaker 2:Okay, that's your sleeper.
Speaker 6:Not to make the finals or anything, I'm just saying he could. He could definitely get on the podium at eight.
Speaker 2:Seed Make some noise, yeah.
Speaker 6:Okay, I could see him coming all the way back Right on Right on.
Speaker 2:I get respect to the top four. I think that looks pretty accurate. I think that's kind of what I would go with too. So no arguments there. Good job, track wrestling. So um, a couple of them, so we got 120. This one's pretty shut. I would say. I don't want to bet against Schlumpf, but Nitesl's hard to beat. Yeah like, so I'm going with. Number one's gonna be Nitesl. I'll give Aloys the number two, but Maximus Hay. I'm gonna say what that Hay's man Maximus Hay, okay, did they wrestle?
Speaker 6:I don't believe so.
Speaker 2:I don't believe, so I don't see any in my nose.
Speaker 6:I just came up or just came down Remember what about preseason?
Speaker 2:anything preseason to?
Speaker 6:their saw no.
Speaker 2:I get a look at shit. God dang it. Oh, hail Zelensky, landon Freeman, aiden, ari Come on, man, you guys are killing me. Too many good guys. Patrick Scrone's that's another good name, um, so I guess, oh Jesus, still gonna be Nitesl, but it's a toss up for me between Schlumpf and Hay, though Newville's gonna have a hard time with Hay. That's just gonna be a rough match. I mean, don't get me wrong, love Newville has been around us for a long time too, but I just don't see him being Maximus Hay. He's just too fast.
Speaker 5:Yeah, I was gonna ask you what's swinging the deal for you there? Speed? Yeah it's speed on that.
Speaker 2:And again, you know I've seen Olin's always been able to catch a couple guys here and there, but I just think the speed's just a little beyond him on this one. But then Aloys God Aloys is real tough and physical.
Speaker 5:His napdots are crazy.
Speaker 2:Yes, very heavy handed wrestler, um, but Max doesn't need to tie up. That's the thing Max can work from outside.
Speaker 5:You can score from space.
Speaker 2:Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 6:He can do that. He can do that sweep. So I mean, the one thing I'm gonna say is like when he got beat by Wendling or whatever Valder's, he controlled him on top, and that's something Schlumpf can do.
Speaker 2:Yes, for sure he's gotta take him down first. Yeah right.
Speaker 6:He may have to Well, he always picked top. I know Coach likes to do that.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's true. Um, you know I'm gonna go. I'll give Schlumpf a pass on this one. I'll let him he'll get into the finals. It's gonna be a tough match. Oh yeah, that's gonna be great. I'll be watching that one, for sure. But then you know, aiden Ari, I think, is gonna be the one that's obviously going up against Nitesville. I just don't know how that would go 41-9, 51-2.
Speaker 6:It already happened twice, it was 3-2.
Speaker 5:Oh okay, I mean 3-2, that's pretty dang close.
Speaker 2:That's what I'm saying. I'm like I don't know 10-2 on the second one. Yeah, but he's been turning up the heat a lot in that last part of the season here Ari has been. So it's like I'm still going with Nitesville. His mom's gonna hate me, ari's mom's gonna hate me, but that's where I'm gonna go. Nitesville's winning it. I'm gonna give Schlump the nod to second and I think, hey, nitesville, no, I'm gonna go with Ari.
Speaker 6:Third the Flayder beat Max.
Speaker 2:Hey, yeah, yeah, I see Ari getting past those guys for third, so I think that's how that's gonna go.
Speaker 6:That'll be a very impressive freshman to get third in this bracket. Yes, that'd be great.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think he's capable. Okay, good, any comments? Anything touch on that bracket, steve.
Speaker 4:No, I'm good with that.
Speaker 2:Okay, all right, sounds good. Glad past testing that one All right. D1-126. Let's see, we got Carter Freeman on top. Then we got the man Easton Cooper, torren Kuo-Kannen, brady Gallagher, logan Klosson, kade Aberg, dammit Kade, why are you the sixth seed?
Speaker 2:Oh, it's because he's a freshman Okay, so here's what I'm gonna do. It's gonna be a tough match. He's gonna get. I think Aberg's gonna make it to Cooper. I don't know that Cooper is gonna lose to Aberg, though I see Carter Freeman making it to the finals. You got some dogs in this fight here, chris, so I'll put my two cents worth out here and I'll let you roll with what you got going on.
Speaker 5:All right.
Speaker 2:But I do have cash getting out of the quarters. The first round, freeman's gonna be a tough match. I'll give, let's see. I'm Aberg's third, aberg's third, and then you got Freeman first, cooper second, cash fourth. I don't know who's fifth. I don't know who would make it into the fifth place spot. Yeah could be.
Speaker 6:Cold to.
Speaker 2:Chateau.
Speaker 6:He's got a long way to go if he loses that first one.
Speaker 5:That's my fourth, If you like. If you like botting for fourth, well, we better win that first one. I think you are. I think you're on that one. That's the plan, but hey, I think you got it. He's just like a brother on top.
Speaker 5:Slippery. I like our draw there. Will Russell Hardt see what happens? I'll be serious. The number seven seed Hayden Shalabi. I'm gonna predict him to get up. It might be sixth but he's gonna go ahead of his spot. He saw me on the water and he was way better than I was thinking he was gonna be when he went out there. We had to beat him. I see, who would it have been? It might have been, I can't remember what it would have been.
Speaker 2:What's 26? It?
Speaker 6:might have been even no.
Speaker 5:Ellerman, ellerman, ellerman, yeah, ellerman, but okay, it was way close, he was tough, he was solid.
Speaker 2:I'll put him number five.
Speaker 5:There you go.
Speaker 2:We cash, Russell cash beats him. That's where I'm going.
Speaker 6:You heard it here first.
Speaker 2:First, folks chase me down at the coal center. I don't care, Better be. Chase me with pizza though. That's all I have to say. That's my round out. That's a nice little bracket right there.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean Logan Clausen's four times 12 fire. That's a tough 11 seed, but Averg's really good.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I just can't get past Averg. He's been getting some decent matches on his belt. I'm really pulling for Averg. Good luck, Abbey. All right, D1-132.
Speaker 5:I'm excited for this one.
Speaker 2:I don't even want to talk about it. I don't want to hear from Peters if I say the wrong thing. I'm pulling for Petey, duda, duda, duda, but there's also Nolan. You know, there's Nolan, ski-ba, ski-ba. That was just so damn hard to look past because Pee-Dee you know, dammit, pee-dee's winning it. I'm calling it. You guys are going to pick something else. I can smell it already. It's fine, it's fine, it's fine. I'm going to stay true to Kokona on this one. I'm pulling with Petey. Second Kellen Sorry, kellen, you can punch me at the Cole Center. It's fine, nolan man, I mean talking about tough bracket dude. Two tough guys you can get past. I think you can get past Lucas. I have a hard time looking at either one of you getting past Kellen Wolbert, though. That's why I'm pulling with Luke. I'm voting with my heart on this one I got to. There's just too much at play to sit here and try and balance it out and then act like I know what I'm talking about. I'm just voting on my heart, lucas Peters, just because of one.
Speaker 5:That'll be the third time this year, right? Yeah, Don't be too excited. Yeah, it would be a five, two and three.
Speaker 2:That would be awesome.
Speaker 5:I hope we get this out, because I'd like to see it.
Speaker 2:Well, and he was ahead, the last one, he was ahead three to nothing.
Speaker 6:Yeah, and then he got taken down. Taken down and rode out.
Speaker 2:Yeah, four to three it's crazy I was like dude, you're right there, but anyways. So that's where I'm going with that one, Not to sleep on any of these other guys. Let's talk about Luke Kamish. I know he's obviously seated pretty well. He's doing all right. 24 and two. I want to say Peyton Olberg. It's another one that the guys have been bringing up a lot, so maybe he can be a guy that kind of outplaces his seating. But yeah, that's what I got. Much luck to those three Kellen, Nolan and Lucas.
Speaker 6:This is going to be another head scratcher, Like I mean, Nolan was a qualifier right, Correct that 120.
Speaker 5:Hey, it's being that sectional runner up that that'll kill you.
Speaker 6:I know, like, but it's just crazy. Like Brody Toledo, I mean, you guys have very similar records and you were a state qualifier last year, and then the national champ is valued over a state qualifier.
Speaker 5:I believe so on the that's crazy.
Speaker 6:That's crazy to me. I don't know.
Speaker 2:I know, man, I'm telling you, that's why I was starting to do Midwest rankings like just the Midwest.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean I got Nolan third, Like that's what I have him ranked.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's crazy, it's absolutely nuts.
Speaker 6:I know they don't go off my rankings or anything, I know that, but I'm just saying like that's that was. That was shocking to me.
Speaker 2:What do the so like? So track obviously has its own equations, right, and its own filters and things like that. But what does the WIA do they? What do they use any type of ranking for any type of things that they do?
Speaker 6:I don't know how that works. Every time you go above somebody, you just get a point for everything, like when you got something above somebody, you get a point. But that, what if?
Speaker 2:you win a championship. What do you mean? Like, do you have a championship in your sport, does that give you extra points?
Speaker 6:I mean, I would think so, does it I?
Speaker 2:have no idea. Yeah, I would think so, melanie and I didn't talk about that in our conversation. Yeah, Okay, so we got D1 138. This is pretty easy for me, tyson Peach. Sorry, that's pretty cut and dried for me. I know other guys like I was surprised to see Joel Sullivan at 138. Yeah, he was like 152 the other year, so I don't know if he shrink 138.
Speaker 6:Two years ago because Grayson wrestled him in the semis.
Speaker 2:I love Tristan. Tristan North, great kid, great competitor. He's going to have a hard time with Declan the. I love JD. I can't believe JD's 138. Another kid that I thought was going to win how is Peach second when he took fourth and fifth.
Speaker 4:Yeah, declan was third last year Got third. Okay, I'm looking at their auto feeds.
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 4:But that's not listed under the wrestler.
Speaker 2:Peach is Declan's not, I'm going to put Collin McDowell. Obviously, grayson wrestlers don't think he can beat Tyson. So I see Tyson and Declan in the finals. Tyson's going to wipe the floor with Declan. And then I'm going to put Declan in the finals. Tyson's going to wipe the floor with Declan and then, careful, not on that one. I'm not Sorry, guys, that's that one, I'm just going to go out there. And on that one, eddie Schrader not sleeping on him. You know, honestly, I think Eddie could wind up in the back with Collin.
Speaker 5:I've got notes in red about Eddie Schrader, which means it's important.
Speaker 2:Okay, we need to talk about him. Oh, absolutely, his tough kid. He's got a lot of good points. He's got a lot of good points.
Speaker 5:He's got a lot of good points. He's got a lot of good points, so he does what he got, because what are the losses? Who are the losses to the?
Speaker 6:Well, and he wasn't a qualifier ever Last year. He didn't. No.
Speaker 2:Oh, he's only lost to Nina. He's only lost to Nina. He's got three to cook and one to her, okay so he'll be.
Speaker 5:He'll be. He'll be on the podium, he has. We talked about how impressed we were with the skulls from Kiyoska when we went through the D2 stuff. Yeah, and he's got a win over skulls three to two.
Speaker 2:Oh shit.
Speaker 5:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, for sure. Yeah, the boy can scrap a little bit. Yup, yup, that's right, I see. I see Eddie in the in the backside with with Collin wrestling for third. You may see north In the fourth, fifth match. He's just got, he's got a tough side there.
Speaker 6:I mean I'm not sure he gets by by credit filler. How do we say it?
Speaker 2:Right, right, yup, exactly. So we'll see how that goes. But hopefully it doesn't take a second one on the backside. But that'll be an interesting fun one to watch. But I got Peach all the way on that one, so that's how that's going. Okay. So we get D1, 144 on top, jacob, I think. As much as I don't want to go against the Sarbacher thing, I mean Jacob's got to get one eventually, right?
Speaker 5:Yeah, I've been impressed with Jacob this year, Obviously if he's been really good this first two seasons. But well, he's just gone to another level. Yup, he's just his motor and his focus and just the aggressiveness that he's picked up this year. He's way beyond what he had last year. I think he's on a mission.
Speaker 2:For sure, for sure, and that's the other thing too. Is, I mean, just looking at the field? That's that is here. I mean, it's not like he didn't have challenges here and there to, you know, to have to wrestle kids to be able to take an L, and he hasn't taken an L. So yeah, and that kind of spells it out. So I got her winning it. You know, doomer's a tough kid, been around him for quite some time. I do think that he could make his way to the semis. If he does, though, doomer's going to have a hard time with Sarbacher. Did Doomer take any losses to any of these guys? Like fish, we're three losses too.
Speaker 5:Doomer has a split with Rabidu before one win and lost by pin the four seed from German town.
Speaker 6:Yeah, he lost to an Illinois kid and he lost to Sullivan Ramos three to one.
Speaker 2:Okay, okay.
Speaker 6:All right, I'm pretty sure Rabidu probably headlocked him Probably.
Speaker 2:Probably did. All right, so that's that's where I'm going to go with that one. I got her first. I'm going to go Sarbacher second. I would say it's going to be between Doomer, doomer and Pinecouse or Plomdale. I'm going to say Plomdale's going to make it back there. You know, pick a, pick, an odd one there. Cool, all right, I'm going to pick Jay. Called to get on the podium out of the seven seed.
Speaker 5:Oh yeah, all right.
Speaker 6:Now is that Dennis's? I believe so. Yeah.
Speaker 2:I think so. Yeah, all right On to 150. D1, 150. The Dushato show. He's the number one. I just don't see Sully beating him. Here's my thing Dushato seems so damn big for the weight that he wrestles. Is it the shoulder brace that he wears that makes him look that big? Because he looks, he looks huge. He's at 145 last year, wasn't he?
Speaker 6:Yeah, he was 45.
Speaker 2:45 last year. So he took a little break. He's up to 150 this year. I was like, how does that kid make a 145? He looks like he's 165. Yeah, so it's good to see that he's up a weight bracket. But I have Wyatt win Neabauer, you got skin in the game. I do the fit here. Okay, let me tell you something just from observing Henry Watt, your wrestling. Okay, henry likes to get a little wild and crazy, like a little unorthodox, like to roll around, like do a little front.
Speaker 6:I'd say he's just baseline.
Speaker 5:Yeah, oh yeah, baseline, d, baseline. All this is how you chalk it up.
Speaker 2:Dushato is going to be a rough.
Speaker 5:Right on the technique manual Step by step.
Speaker 6:Yeah, he's probably real easy to scout.
Speaker 2:That book that Kerry Kohl had. Wait, wait, wait, wait. You didn't look like that picture right there. Hold on, but it's going to be tough. Dushato knows how to scramble. I was getting at it. Henry has a knack for getting out of positions while also possibly getting into a position that he may not favor.
Speaker 2:It's kind of funny. It's fun listening to Liam when he would go into Nazare practice with those guys. He'd roll around with Henry once in a while. He's like Henry keeps trying to do this damn front roll and he does it every single time I wrestle, but we got Colin the group man. I honestly I think he's going to be a little bit more focused on that. But just Colin the group man. Honestly, that draw right there is like couldn't you just tell that they wrestled the same?
Speaker 6:team like four weeks in a row. Yeah, I mean we beat the eight seed 10-0.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I don't get what is going on.
Speaker 5:Hey, I've been doing this way too long to look past that orange singlet there. That's, let's just say that's good, that's good.
Speaker 2:Hey, I tell you what if we were, if we were at Neenor Oshkosh North, we'd be saying the same thing. No, we're just now, we're just surrounded by it. So, so I got. I still have Colin placing higher than his, his seed. Yeah, I have Colin in the top five at least. I don't have him seventh or eighth. I have Colin being able to come back to get something. You got to chat. Oh, that's just going to be tough. Even if you do make it through to the finals, you're not winning that. Neither is Henry, and neither is Sullivan or a mouse. No, those guys are winning that. Yeah, so my top is Wyatt, and then I'm going to go, and then I'm going to go. I'm going to put Henry number two. I see Henry, henry, getting to the finals. It's, it is what it is. And then I got Colin making his way to the back. I want to say third with Sully, and then the fourth, fifth would be whoever.
Speaker 6:And I knew I didn't go that far, that's Sam Zanton, I don't know 42 and 0. He hadn't had a lot of significant yeah wins, but he I mean to be undefeated at this point. The season's got to for some and for sure.
Speaker 2:What school is that? Where is he? Middleton, that's Madison area.
Speaker 6:I'm a petition. Yeah, I'm excited to see how this one shakes out.
Speaker 5:Yeah, that's I could find for that freshman from Middleton. He's got a 4 to 2 win over the 11 seed from Baraboo. So yeah, OK, OK, that's what I could find.
Speaker 2:Right, alright, 157. This is shutting in close right here for first place. Anyways, charlie Merlard will win it. I love me some paint. Lee is a cacona kid, but I see Peyton probably top three. If not, I'm going to give him top five. I think he's been doing really well this year. He's been turning on the afterburners. He's been making some decent wins, I think at the beginning of the season. Maybe there's just some couple matches here and there that were a little fuzzy for him, but I think he's got his brights on right now I think he beats Ray Number one and one.
Speaker 2:Yeah, one and one against each other. I think he'd be able to beat Ray again. So I'm going to give, I'm going to give Peyton a nod all the way up to the semis I don't want to say finals, because it's going to be pretty tricky in that last part, that Kapilini I mean he beat that's. That's what I'm saying Kapilini. I've seen him wrestle a couple times. This is going to be a tough match.
Speaker 6:Is that the kid that's from like California?
Speaker 2:Yes, yes, I think I think Liam wrestled him in the off season.
Speaker 6:He was here last year, but I think he moved in from California last year.
Speaker 5:Okay, so is that right? It just seems weird to me. Here's another one that you couldn't believe. It was Eddie Straiters first time at the Coles Center.
Speaker 2:Peyton Lee also yeah, he's also pretty ridiculous to me.
Speaker 6:He's also not been at his real weight because he's been behind Grayson, you know. Oh yeah. True, yeah, so he's always wrestling. This is I mean. I knew he was always wrestling up. Really he could probably be 50 this year too, but he's so I missed it.
Speaker 2:Stephanie already messaged a while back about 15 minutes, which said that that's fair. Yeah. I would assume it's because of Aiden yeah. Yeah. I love again. I love Aiden, kellan, both those kids that Liam got to wrestle with, aiden and I got to meet Kellan as well. And great family, great kids.
Speaker 6:But this is another seating thing. I had like we're six, but we beat Schneider twice. Oh yeah, we won by one the first time, but last time I think we majored maybe 10 to 4. Missed him too.
Speaker 5:Yeah, it was 10 to 4 the second time. Yeah.
Speaker 2:Man. Okay, so I got to step back here because I forgot Rylin was in there. That was that's my bad. Elijah Terrell is another good one, but the skill and speed is not there with some of these guys like Ramona, be able to probably beat him, you know, if they got to a finals kind of situation. But with Rylin Schneider, that kid's getting used to his size. Finally, and that's that was kind of the, I think, the struggle he had in the beginning of the season and now he's getting his stride Damn it.
Speaker 5:He's got a lot of matches against guys in this bracket too. Yeah, correct.
Speaker 2:So, and I mean obviously the matches against Peyton were always tough.
Speaker 6:He was up, we came, we came back on him in the dual member. That was a really good match.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think I'm going to. I think I'm going to put Peyton and Rylin in for third place. That's my, that's my guess on that one, but Charlie's winning that one. So, sorry guys, that's all Charlie's. All right, 165. I'll let you guys talk.
Speaker 5:Hey, did we talk about the fifth seed mayor for Mount Horob the freshman? No, we did not. He's got a pin over the two seated.
Speaker 6:Cappellini oh yeah, that's another throw that out there, yeah. Yeah, I just keep complaining about the seeds.
Speaker 4:I keep complaining Head to head doesn't make any difference.
Speaker 2:Yeah Right, that's kind of what we're seeing here, like there's just a big trend of doesn't matter that you beat them here, we're going to put you here anyways, it's even been like, even when there are four or five like at D2, 106, there were four or five and it didn't move them above them.
Speaker 6:I guess they were split, but it's still like the last when you would think, yeah, that's weird.
Speaker 2:The head to heads are what bothered me, though. Yeah, like why wouldn't you know?
Speaker 5:Hey, we'd been the eight seed from Rapids. Yeah, so he's going to outplace this seed. Yeah.
Speaker 2:That's one kid I want to put back definitely in the top five. But why Ben's definitely top five? I think it's going to be a scrap for third, fourth and fifth you know the sixth, that area but I just I'll put top five. But right now I got to play a little favoritism and I'm going to put Payton in the third place match and then Schneider's. Just I think Schneider beats Weidman, I do, I do, I think there's this a little more physicality there from Rylan, yeah, but I didn't see from Ben. But it doesn't mean that Ben doesn't mean he has to be that way. It just seems like Rylan will be able to kind of, I don't know, I'll last him.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I'm excited to see that freshman. He's the mayor kid. Yeah, he's a three time youth state champ and I know that doesn't mean much at this level, but it has to be a little bit.
Speaker 2:Yeah, something that carries over, you know? Yeah, all right, 165. I don't know anybody. I have no idea who's in 165. I don't know any of these guys. None of these guys. It was. Caleb Denney yeah.
Speaker 1:That's my question, because I haven't seen any of these guys.
Speaker 4:That's me you need about this brackets.
Speaker 2:So, that's me, nicholas Eli Schlust Schlust. Did he wrestle him? No, he didn't wrestle Schlust. He hasn't wrestled Denny yet he's wrestled Guerrero. He's not wrestled Pember. He was supposed to wrestle Stammer at freestyle. He forfeited that because his shoulder hurt while he already qualified for Fargo, so it didn't matter.
Speaker 6:He wrestled Kenny Vaughn.
Speaker 2:Yep, yep, he attacked him. Yeah, I don't know, I'm not making a pick. I think it'll jinx it.
Speaker 6:Yeah, I mean that's fair.
Speaker 2:I really don't want to put my two cents' worth on that because I think obviously everybody knows what I'm going to be cheering for. But I don't want to. I want to put it on the university will, but I think he needs to do it more than I do. Yeah.
Speaker 5:Hey, how about this? All right, those top four seeds, yeah. All underclassmen, right, yeah. Yep Combined record is 181 and three.
Speaker 6:Yeah, what? Yeah, that's pretty impressive yeah.
Speaker 5:Okay, yeah, that jumped out to me.
Speaker 6:Yeah, the semis will be like this is one of the best like seeded as far as, as far as. Yeah, like well, I'm just saying how they, how it looks on the paper.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 6:Because Denny was a runner-up. Last year Liam was fifth, you know and Katie was, but Katie was a returning place and and they put Leonard over him Was what did Leonard place in D2? I can't remember. Katie was fifth last year, yeah, and Leonard got fifth in D2.
Speaker 2:Yes, yep, then that boils down to records then yeah, then it makes sense.
Speaker 5:Yep, but let's just look at, look at Katie and Hughes, at that potential Thursday night match. Oh yeah, I mean Wow.
Speaker 6:On Alaska. Is that how you say that I?
Speaker 5:mean I don't know much about him, but the record looks good. Yeah, I mean he hasn't?
Speaker 6:he was only lost as to Wasley, oh yeah 17-nothing though.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, attacked, yeah, it'll happen. Yeah, yeah, I mean, honestly, I don't. I, yeah, I don't think it's gonna be Osiris. Yeah, I don't think, I don't think it's gonna be Osiris.
Speaker 5:Or I don't think it's gonna be Osiris. I don't think it's gonna be Osiris. What about the final third or final match of O'Donnell?
Speaker 2:and Leonard, I mean O'Donnell going to be a rematch at the Fort Plymouth State tournament. Yep, they wrestle the Highlander.
Speaker 5:Those two wrestled at the Highlander and Eli Leonard won that one Okay, and that was.
Speaker 2:I mean, it wasn't handily. That was kind of back and forth if you watch the match. That last four points where he got 10 were kind of. I think O'Donnell got kind of caught off guard. He took them down on a double leg and he wound up on his back, so he got two extra points out of there.
Speaker 2:And that was towards the end of the period too, so it was a close match up until that end. But yeah, that's definitely going to be a good match. I definitely want to see those guys wrestle again. This whole bracket is going to be exciting. Yeah, that's Isaac. We're always got a decent background. So, yeah, there you go. I'm not making picks on that one, but I can tell you who I'm cheering for. So there's that 175. Stolfel yeah, he's a beast. Yeah, kid's huge. Like I don't know anybody that's going to be able to touch him. I don't know Kaden Brandenburg, don't get me wrong, he's still. I think he was caught in last year. I think that kind of looked like he was smaller than he should have been, like this year would be nice for him to be up to that size. But at the same time, too, it's like Stolfel's just Stolfel's just so overpowering.
Speaker 6:Either that or he's wearing like an extra small single, I don't know yeah.
Speaker 2:What are you trying to prove?
Speaker 6:He looks huge.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he's huge, so I got Stolfel on that one all the way, so not to be left out. I see Guy Fraley. I think if Guy's able to come out top five, he's doing pretty good. I don't think that seating is necessarily fair. I think he's higher than that.
Speaker 4:I got hot in the final.
Speaker 6:Yeah, that's, that's hot. What was that, steve? I got hot.
Speaker 4:I got hot, I got hot, I got hot.
Speaker 2:I got hot, I got hot, I got hot, I got hot I got hot, I got hot, I got hot, I got hot I got hot, I got hot I got hot he was.
Speaker 4:he was a I don't know how to say it politely. He was a very questionable call from the finals last year.
Speaker 6:Oh yeah.
Speaker 2:Nice, okay, okay. So that's a I kind of see where some one, twos and threes are here. The other guys, I I don't have enough info on these guys. Oh, and Grisbach, I know it was good Marshfield and I remember him from last year, but he beat Fraley six-three earlier. I got sprangers definitely making top five. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 6:Yeah, Sprangers and Schultz wrestled at the East East Troy duals. So that yeah, 10, five sprangers.
Speaker 2:Okay, yeah, I got. I got Sprangers top five easy. Oh, I agree, if not, maybe higher. He said dude the kids, he's so unassumingly athletic. Oh yeah, it's weird, very weird. He's one of the like he. He wrestles like he's 120 pounds.
Speaker 5:I was just glad that See some of these day hairs there because of him.
Speaker 6:I was just glad that Chris moved his guy up, because those matches were getting way too nerve-wracking those were painful. Oh my God, oh God. We came out on the top side of a lot of them, but it was still like, oh my gosh, they've never been, I've never like. That was just so evenly matched kids, yeah.
Speaker 2:So that's, that's the. That'll spell that one out. I got Stofo winning it, Otte be second and then you'll have the rest of the guys. Like I said, I got Sprangers going to top five, probably going to have Guy Fraley top five. That's about it. I don't know the other guys. Sorry guys, Colton Schultz I know of, but I don't know him well enough to be able to place him anywhere right now. So that's what I got, Okay.
Speaker 6:I know he was D2 last year and it came up, so almost almost done your way in the last couple D1 190.
Speaker 2:Um, you know, Ethan Winkleman looks really good. Yes, he does. I don't know who the one seat is. I've never heard of him, yeah.
Speaker 6:So it's hard for me to pick Myra. So, myra Mirror, yeah, he's a he's, he's, he's all right. I mean, I think he's qualified for the Olympic hey okay, Chris, let's, let's put.
Speaker 2:let's put pen to paper here. Does Aiden score a point on your solo Could? He score a point on myra, solo my Aiden. Yeah, could he score a take down, aiden, we love you. Stop it, don't. Don't judge your coach.
Speaker 5:I love Aiden to death, but no, no, no, come on, I thought.
Speaker 2:I could get one. No, man, it's a quick ankle grab Pick some, pick some up.
Speaker 6:No no.
Speaker 2:Okay, I'm just.
Speaker 5:I'm just beaten college guys Right, come on.
Speaker 6:He's kind of he's beaten college basketball champ.
Speaker 2:NCAA champs for crying out loud. That's all right. He can still get taken down.
Speaker 4:Oh, but that was in freestyle. You got to get, got to get.
Speaker 5:That's right.
Speaker 2:Yeah, different, what's different? Okay, so we got mirror solo winner Might as well. Just forget about that one. So I again, I get an MP. Yeah, I don't know, I mean I haven't seen him wrestle, but the name obviously he's got. Yeah, he's got some clout with the name. We got Kyler Tritz. I can't, obviously, I'm not going to overlook a tritz. Yeah, um, aiden. Aiden is still looking good. He's a solid wrestler.
Speaker 6:Um, I mean Cole Cole only lost the tritz eight, four and 11, five, so that's a. I think that's a very wonderful match for an item.
Speaker 2:I would agree. I see I could see Aiden Aiden making you know the. I could see him making the finals. I could, it really could. I have faith. I have faith in in Aiden, right, I don't know these other guys Like I don't know, I don't know, wickelman, I don't know.
Speaker 6:We drew lost to him at state last year.
Speaker 2:Well, last year, yeah, okay.
Speaker 6:He's apparently a pinning machine. He's got like over a hundred pins.
Speaker 2:Man.
Speaker 3:Well, it's good luck to pull up for you to make the finals.
Speaker 2:So there you go. All right. Thanks, you bet you a man. See, I'm not, I'm not all about, just all the number one guy, conner's. Conner's going to win it. We know that. But I got Aiden climbing his way there. Kyler tritz is going to be a little tough, that's going to be tough, but I'm going to, I think. I think he can pull it off. If he doesn't, then I'll bug him in the hallway. Okay, all right, we got D one, two, 15 bracket. This is going to be kind of weird.
Speaker 5:We don't want to talk about a 27 and three freshman from Middleton at the 11 seed. I'm kind of being serious, it's weird. I like what is going on 90 still right. What's that?
Speaker 2:You talking about 90, still right.
Speaker 5:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5:Because, remember, not a couple of way classes back, they had the undefeated freshman.
Speaker 2:Yes, middleton did. Yeah, yeah, 27 and three, 11.
Speaker 5:Maybe they got something going on. We don't know.
Speaker 2:He's a friend, so that was the other thing too is because obviously you guys had no seeding criteria. So but yeah, he's, he's. I don't know so much for all those wins. Huh, I mean his brother moved out.
Speaker 6:His brother was a senior, moved down to 175 for him and then his brother didn't make it.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, his brother was a senior. Yeah, wow, yeah, that should be a fight.
Speaker 5:Those are fun times around the dinner table at home.
Speaker 2:Fight I remember this my words.
Speaker 6:Acer Clark from a Riverside. Yeah, we wrestled drew, wrestled in a state last year, and that that dude is put together Like he is he could I mean he put drew to his back and like we had to fight like hell to get off back in the third period?
Speaker 2:No, it was in. You got tired.
Speaker 6:No, right at the start.
Speaker 2:Right at the start. He bare hugged him and I'll say he drew, got tired man.
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 2:He was going to dark water. Yeah for sure. All right, Ainsen, claire, garrett Kachinsky, that's going to be the final. I don't care who you are, I'm calling it that's going to be your final. I don't know, I don't see anybody. I don't see anybody on Garrett's side. That would. That would beat him. Yeah, I mean, jesus Gonzalez is undefeated, but did he wrestle him? Obviously not.
Speaker 2:I would say but I think Garrett's the number 10. This is seated well Agreed. So yeah, reed's Berg's good Yep, that looks the way it's going to go. Good job Track wrestling. High five on a third one, hey can I just throw something out here?
Speaker 5:Throw it, and you guys know me well, I'm not giving my guy a shameless plug or anything like that. Oh yeah, all those guys that might be watching that just miss going to state, or those guys that are toiling away and just wondering man, is this worth it? Am I going to be back on the mat next year? I've got a story for you and it just happens to be one of my guys. If I knew this story from another team, I would share it right now too, because kids, young men, hey, stick with it. You never know. You never know. The next week, the next day, the next practice, the light bulb might come on. Okay, my guy right there. Austin McHugh, right, the eight seed. Okay, oh yeah, yup, 35 and 13. Regional sectional champion. Okay, that's awesome. The varsity record 11 and 19. Damn, 11 and 19.
Speaker 5:One year later, 35 and 13. He's the sectional champ, yeah.
Speaker 6:He's just got better throughout the season too, like I've noticed a big jump during the season. That's been yeah.
Speaker 5:It's not just, it's my. I guess if I heard the story from somebody else, I'd say he'll need to share. For all the younger guys out there that are just wondering if all the toil and hard work is worth it again One more shot. Oh yeah, that's awesome. The next day might be the day the light comes on.
Speaker 2:I'll put, I'll put in top five. Yeah, just because of that he gets, he gets at least top five. He's going to beat his, he's going to beat his seed. I like that. I like that kind of story man. I like it when kids so that's the other thing. Like I always tell everybody, you know, like, oh, liam must have done really well when he was little. Hell, no, he lost. Like everything, everything, like every tournament we took him to, if you go back all the way to 2014, 2015,.
Speaker 2:Fourth, fourth fourth did not place. Fourth, fourth, did not place. He didn't care because he's still left with a medal, thanks. But at the same point it was took forever, right. Finally had to look at him and be like, look, I don't, I don't know what you're doing out there, but I expect effort. Once you started putting an effort in, oh what.
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Then they see that work pays off, you know then, all that starts to kind of come to fruition and some of these guys don't start till later. Right, right, I think a lot of guys I guess people with you know think I got to take the wrong reality in a long time, I think, even though they have something to kick rocks a lot sooner. You know, like they're parents don't have as much control over it. If they didn't want to wrestle on the guys that do that, I got a lot of respect for that. I was a quitter, I was the dude, I was like I suck at this, I'm out. You know, I'll save the spot for another else that can come and take the warm seat but, I think it's awesome when guys are able to put that together.
Speaker 2:Go Smash him, dude. Yeah, 285, another slant another tough one yeah.
Speaker 6:So you got Cole and Brock, probably a rematch of the finals last year. Hey, was that the finals? I?
Speaker 2:don't, I don't remember that one. I think we're gone.
Speaker 4:I think Brock was down at two, two twenty last year.
Speaker 6:Yeah, oh, that's right, yeah he had Sinclair then, yeah, sinclair in the finals.
Speaker 2:So Brock to Cole one. Yes, you else is in your Nehemiah. I'm putting Nehemiah top five. Grant Stromberg it's fun to watch. He is fun to watch, so that's.
Speaker 6:Anything could happen with that guy, apparently him, and that mosquito kid, or just.
Speaker 2:Whenever they wrestle each other.
Speaker 6:Yeah, they do is try and throw each other.
Speaker 2:It's like a brother to the inch. Yeah, I start. Yeah, I'll throw first I.
Speaker 5:See, aren't only beats drumber, I should say only it's five, eight, three.
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 5:And that could be a seeds hold out, could be like it's on my final could definitely be interesting.
Speaker 6:Yes, I'm from burgers definitely stepped it up this year. He used to be like only throws and now he's got a couple shots and he's definitely stepped his game up.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think it's gonna be. I think that's gonna be interesting. But again, some of these guys. I know that. I know Nehemiah has wrestled a couple of these guys. Yeah, I know that he's one. Obviously, cole's beating everybody. Brock is just so damn big right does another behemoth Hacker. Hey, hacker Wasn't he started doing it right towards the end of the season. I heard Jake and and I Jake, tegan home Steve talking about him, that Franklin kid yeah.
Speaker 2:Yeah okay, that's I. Honestly. The rest of it's kind of a toss up. Neha, nehemiah, top five easily I'm putting, and then Brock and Brock and Cole in the finals, but I just don't. Garth Martell, I know from West. I mean, I know he's been doing good, but I don't know that the foreseed is that one's kind?
Speaker 5:of struck me too.
Speaker 2:Yeah, did he go to state last year? Yeah, did he? What did he place? No, no, that's weird foreseed. I don't see him making top four. I See him maybe to I podium. I see podium, but I don't see top four like that. But that's me. Well, that's it. Folks. Two, two hours, yeah, that's it. There's. Went through a lot of brackets with talk about a lot of kids, talked about some stories, brought up some good stuff from past. Steve, yeah, what you said that you're not repping this, are you repping somewhere this weekend?
Speaker 4:still, though, no, no, I will be Nothing. No, I'll be sitting down amongst crowd.
Speaker 2:Nice, nice, what section.
Speaker 4:One twenty two a it's a box.
Speaker 2:Hey, oh, it's an obelisk, so you're protected. Okay, we need to keep you somewhere where people can't get at you.
Speaker 4:So you can throw things off.
Speaker 2:Oh man, you're already given ideas Well, so you'll be down there. But then you said you have a college event that you're co or you're repping at the weekend after.
Speaker 4:Yeah, yeah, the division three regional at Stevens point.
Speaker 2:Nice, nice, okay, that should be kind of a heater. Sounds like, was it lacrosse? And those guys? That's all the same, right, they the same.
Speaker 4:It's.
Speaker 5:Did that end in a tie. Team score wise, did I see that right.
Speaker 4:Yes Wow.
Speaker 2:That's crazy so.
Speaker 4:No, yeah, I mean Chris, you've been. I was a head coach. You've been a head coach a long time. Sometimes you have to be smart enough to control your athletes. Oh, that's what cost the title I'm gonna boy yeah, you'll get that young man lost in the semis due to a slam Wins for third and gave the loser sign To the opposing coach postman. Wow. Yeah. So yeah, it was. It was that cool. Oh.
Speaker 2:See that's an all. Rq went on a rant about guys taunt three like it's doing something or whatever over the top of an opponent or flexing on them. It's not needed. Yeah.
Speaker 4:Oh, it's not, you know get up, yeah, and I act like you've been here before correct, I think this it. Chris has heard my speech.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 4:I openly tell the kids You're not gonna like every call I make. You are not right and that is your right. I get that. If you're upset about it, keep your heck you're on, walk off the mat and leave the gym. Go someplace where I can't see you or I Don't have to make that call.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yep, they go bitch about it.
Speaker 4:Yeah, yeah, I mean it's own Correct and I get it. I was a competitor. I Hated to lose Yep, but the way we were brought up, you didn't talk to the official and you sure as heck didn't bark at your coach because that was gonna be a long. Monday.
Speaker 2:Yeah, so that's and it's an interesting fact that you're bringing up especially with the, especially with celebrating we talked about, like the Hayden halters and all that stuff that have happened in the state. So what, what are? You kind of touched a little bit there, steve, on exactly what you guys are looking for. But Technically, what is it? What are? What are kids allowed to do After a match? And obviously we all let a kid get up and he's like, yeah, he's looking at the crowd, but what, what is technically allowed allowable mat side for a kid that a ref is like, okay, I'll let that you know. How far do you guys typically let it go?
Speaker 4:Depends where you're talking. If you're talking at 30 minutes, by the letter of law okay, okay, all right.
Speaker 2:If it's just a duel beginning of the season, whatever.
Speaker 4:Yes, I.
Speaker 2:Get excited.
Speaker 4:Yeah, you know. Yeah, I mean as long as you're not in the other Athletes face. Yeah, as long as you are not taunting the other bench. You know I get it. You, you get a big win. You get a big comeback win, like the young man from Gokana did Tuesday night, last Tuesday night Ah, you know a few wants to throw his arms up in the air and in whatever. I don't care that's. That's that's part of the excitement of our sport being one-on-one.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we're emotional adrenaline, that's right raw.
Speaker 4:Yeah, you got to remember these kids. It is Barn on the toughest sport, because everything that happens out on that mat you have to answer to yourself to win, lose, mistake, whatever, it's all on you. Yep, you know, yep, and, and that's why, that's why you know. Gable said once you've ruffled, everything else in life is easy, you know, and it builds a foundation for these kids that that sets them up to move forward in life. And you know that I mean for me down at down at team state.
Speaker 2:That's crazy.
Speaker 4:The first year I roughed team state. It's arrowhead against McWanagall conference rivals.
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 4:I have a kid that took third ed state Wrestling the state champ from the week before.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 4:State champ takes him down cradles and puts him on his back. The kid gets out of it. Reverse is on cradle them, pins up. So now this young man is extremely excited to only imagine and it locked up the dual meat for McWanagall. Oh. So I'm literally zoned in on this kid, just like just relax, let's shake hands, let me, let me raise your hand and then you can go to your team. Yes, I have. I'm literally right here with blinders. On with that kid.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 4:I did not see the rest of the McWanagall team run through the circle past me. Oh no, oh no. So my own official, who will remain nameless yeah, he goes, steve, you gotta hit him for a sportsman, like I was like for what? No, he goes. You didn't see the whole team run by you and I went. No they ran right through the ten foot circle but I was so concentrating on Getting in the shake hands and raises hand and get him off the mat. Yeah, so that's a that sucks.
Speaker 4:I had to go tell Johnny banana shoes were his picky the anti-abras sportsman, like first kids running across the map. The most hideous yellow wrestling shoes when he was in college Johnny banana shoes, that's awesome.
Speaker 2:I love that awesome story. Yeah, it's crazy. So that was a that's kind of like when we're watching a lot of these kids down there. I mean, liam has said that you know, like team states loud, like that's loud because it's right on top. Yeah, you know that you could go into the Cole Center and it's still loud because it's pretty packed. But you've been into preseason national. You know places and things like that where it's you kind of had that feeling. But this is this, it's different, there's different, a different gravity to it. But he's like, team state was the loudest, there was the most intense, just imagine the barn.
Speaker 4:Hmm, first state championship used to be yes, yeah, yeah correct, and I mean people, askers, just. I mean oh my god man that was.
Speaker 2:That was back when you could smoke and drink in those places.
Speaker 5:Yeah, I was joke, but I'd be what you'd be warming up. There'd be a guy in the hallway. Yes, you have a cigarette.
Speaker 4:Oh yeah, we turned out, okay yeah everything else of those, steve oh. My wife in here. She probably make an argument against being right.
Speaker 2:Well, I do enjoy having these conversations and being able to sit down and look through these brackets with you guys. I appreciate it was the time that you spent doing this. It's been fun, you know. A good luck, coach, down at state. I know we'll see you down there. You guys all yep, yep, tell all the guys good luck down there. Hopefully everybody kind of gets what they wanted out of it. You never know.
Speaker 4:I apologize, I didn't have much to add to the the seating of me. Obviously, I understand the seating part of it, but you're totally.
Speaker 2:Hey, it was again. It was another mastermind that I wanted to have here any kind of rules.
Speaker 4:I'm the official that walks in and you'll, you'll give me the lineups and I'll look at you with a blank face because I mean, I know some of the kids I I'm not, but, but I don't, I don't, I don't follow it, just so I cannot care when I step on the mat, the blow.
Speaker 5:Correct, even your position. You. That's what. That's what makes you such a great official. Yeah, you officiate a match and what's going on in front of you, not what somebody's bringing in as a Ranking or this guy, that this guy's supposed to win big. So that's what makes you so good at what you do you just boom officiates.
Speaker 2:That's right. That's right, that's the best and that's that's why I like this. I like this dynamic that we had to be able to kind of talk about this stuff. So Again, good luck, steve. Have fun. Not refing. Yeah, you know have fun watching, so maybe we'll see you down there walking through the hall.
Speaker 4:Chris, good luck Thank you. Yeah, good luck.
Speaker 2:Yep, yeah, good luck to you down there too. You'll be on the floor, me and, or in around, oh yeah down there doing your thing.
Speaker 2:Yeah, keep my kid under control. It's good, it's good, all right. Well, everybody, this has been another edition of the vision quest podcast. We talked many brackets, talked about the state, talked about some really great wrestlers. Hopefully, everybody gets what they want, and you know we're gonna wind up ending this right now because it's that time of the night. So everybody join us next time. I don't know who we're gonna have on yet, but you never know, we'll put it out there boys, oh that's right, earn it.
Speaker 2:I'm gonna talk to you guys afterwards. Let me play some music here. We'll be right back. Oh.
