Creating a Culture of Excellence: Lessons from a Championship Coach With Steve Jones
We had the opportunity to talk with Steve Jones, a legendary high school football coach who has helped shape the lives of countless young athletes. Before retiring from coaching, Steve coached for 10 years. During his time, the Papermakers have compiled a 118-8 record including a Wisconsin state record of 70 wins in a row. 9 conference championships and 5 consecutive state championships along with one state runner-up finish.
Steve is now helping Fortune 500 companies inspire leaders and develop a winning culture. Naturally, we wanted to learn more about how Steve took his leadership strategies and tactics from football to the business world.
In this episode, we explore his strategies for developing winning teams, building strong relationships with players, and instilling a sense of purpose in the lives of those he coaches.
About Steve
Steve Jones is a professional leadership coach, keynote speaker, and best-selling author who teaches leaders to empower themselves and others, and create cultures of strength, unity, and resiliency. Steve’s positive impact developed as a teacher and head football coach at Kimberly High School, where throughout 11 seasons he led his teams to a record of 129-9 (including 70 consecutive wins) and five state championships. Steve’s winning formula is now captivating Fortune 500 companies, professional sports organizations, and competitive leaders looking to inspire successful teams.
Steve is the Co-founder of Jadin-Jones Coaching and Consulting, focusing on leadership, culture, and mindset. He has been commissioned by numerous leading organizations including the Green Bay Packers, Verizon, Kimberly-Clark, and Stryker Medical. Steve is the co-author of best-selling book The Twin Thieves and is currently the culture coach at Mutual of Omaha Mortgage and facilitator at the Center of Exceptional Leadership at St. Norbert College.
