Jensen:

Hey, that was loud over here. All right. Hey, we've got a brand new BC pod episode for you tonight. If you couldn't already tell, we're live. This mic's hot. We're live on air recording in the studio. All right. It's looking cool. It's looking great. Everybody is here and we look just as normal as ever. So we have a great episode planned for you. Yep, that's

Noah:

right.

Jensen:

Tonight. That's right. All right, so. We already did our trivia. You gotta be here if you know, you know, what am I, what can I say? If you know, you know, but before we get into our topic, I just wanna know what's going on with GI Noah. Well, how was your week? What stuck out? What didn't stick out? What are you thinking? Whoever wants to go first

Noah:

fight. Um, I worked a double this week. I've talked about it before. I work at Papa's. That's right. Um, I served this, this huge family. They tipped me good, but they kind, they did kind of smell the first thing. I noticed them when they kind of smelled weird.

Jensen:

Okay.

Noah:

All right.

Jensen:

All right. Alright. Right. Hey. But it was worth a tip.

Noah:

It was worth a tip. It was like$600. I got like 150,$20

Jensen:

off them. Shit. We gonna cans. Alright. Okay. We

Noah:

gonna cool.

Jensen:

Giselle

Gisselle :

girl, I did nothing.

Jensen:

What?

Gisselle :

Let me tell you this. I freaking, I had a client today and it was the hardest client I've ever had in my life and I was this close to crying.

Jensen:

What'd they ask for? Fade?

Gisselle :

Yes. No, I don't know. It was just like a bleach out something, but it, it was the bane of my existence.

Jensen:

So do you, you work on mannequins, but you also work on, we talked about this already. I

Gisselle :

don't work on mannequins no more.

Jensen:

Because you graduated. No. No, she didn't. No. Just kidding. No,

Gisselle :

almost. I'm this

Jensen:

close graduating. She's this close. She's been this close. She's about to start shadowing some hairstylist. Yes. And then she's gotta be on the road. She might be on the road. Um, I, I kind of agree with gi. I didn't do much. I'll be, I'll be, I did not do a whole lot, I'll be honest. But it's all right. That's not our topic today, so we'll worry about that another day. Well,

Gisselle :

didn't you have like a big football game?

Jensen:

What you mean?

Noah:

You, you had, you were, you were a cheerleader yesterday, bro.

Jensen:

Oh, oh, that's right. I was in fact. Right, right, right. I I should have brought a picture. Dang it. All right. Well, it's all right. We, uh, had powder puff game yesterday. Some of y'all were there. Make some noise if you were there.

Noah:

Hey.

Jensen:

Alright. That's why you're on that side. It's all right. Gigi threw about five touchdown passes. It was, shout out Gigi. It was wild. Hey, shout out Gigi. Shout out Gigi. Yeah. All right. Uh, I in fact was a cheerleader along with some of my friends, and when I tell you we had a ball, that's an understatement. We had a great time out there. We were doing flips, launching people at least 12 feet in the air. I'm telling y'all. Oh, it was jokes. Oh, it was jokes. There's nothing else other than just jokes. So it was a good time. Um, that's Loki though. I've been looking forward to this. I don't know about y'all.

Gisselle :

I was so nervous. I don't know

Jensen:

why. Have y'all been looking forward

Gisselle :

to it? This whole thing, this whole thing made me nervous.

Jensen:

Why? Are you looking forward to it?

Gisselle :

No, I was looking forward to it, but I No, but why

Jensen:

not? No, I know, but like, why are you looking forward to it?

Gisselle :

Oh, I don't know.

Jensen:

Yeah,

Gisselle :

but I just, just being in front of all you nervous? I'm not sure either. Nervous? I'm not sure either. That's

Jensen:

it. That's it. Well,

Noah:

okay. Okay.

Jensen:

Alright. Anyways, might as well get into the meat of this episode. So today we have a title for you already. Usually you find it out after we're done, but we have one for you. Today's title is titled The Filter Effect. All right? The Filter Effect. All right. This entire episode, we are talking about consumption. We're talking about how thick is your filter, what are you letting get past you? What is affecting your life Still, after you think you've already got it, we don't know, but because we need to know what is, or how thick is your filter and what the effect of that is on you. All right? So sit tight, get your notepads out, get everything in order, get it going, get it going'cause I'm ready. For a great podcast. How about y'all?

Noah:

Oh, heck yeah.

Jensen:

Let's go. Let's go. Alright. If you guys listen to the podcast, you know that we have three point bangers. We have three point bangers. We each get a question, we each get a topic and we get to share out, and we can jump in whenever we please. All right? Now, although as the, uh, peanut gallery, you can't jump in with your commentary, you can jump in with your noises. So please be loud, be ready. Let's get it to it. All right. I have number one. I have question number one. All right. What is getting past your filter? All right. What is getting past your filter now? Let me explain a little bit. Thanks Jocelyn. Let me explain a little bit what I mean when I say filter. When I, we say the filter effect or what is getting past your filter, everybody has one. Everybody has got one. It might be, uh, maybe a little more thick than others, whatever, but your filter is what is stopping what you consume that is not good for you, getting to you and affecting you. All right? So for example, if you've got a really wicked group of friends, not the good kind, the bad kind, if you've got that kind of friend. And you are letting them pour into your life and letting it affect your life in a, uh, absurd amount to where it's changing you as a person. It's changing your relationship with God and it has a massive negative effect on you. Yeah. That just means your filter is not strong enough. Mm-hmm. Your filter is not thick enough because things are getting through that are still affecting you greatly. So I'm gonna read you a verse real quick. James 1 21. This is what we built this entire episode on. This entire episode of consumption was based around this verse. It says, therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accepted the world, or the word planted in you, which can save you. So I kind of butchered when I said that. Lemme read that last part, and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. All right? So it's telling you that all, everything the world has to offer will never become above what the word of God has to offer you. Right?

Noah:

That's

Jensen:

right. That's what we're talking about. And your filter decides what you let stop what you let, or when you stop letting the world get above your Bible, your Bible is always gonna be above the world. So it's a matter of how thick your filter is on what and how it's affecting you daily and every single day of your life. All right, so I got a couple little topics. So. It. Like we said, your filter is what has a hold on you, but I want you to understand that the thickness of your filter, what gets in, what gets out is 110% up to you. Yeah. It's up to you a hundred percent. You are the only person in your life that gets to decide. What you think, how you think it, how often you think it, and the person you are, pretty much, you are the only person that gets to decide that that's what God gave us. Free will for you experience it every single day. If God wanted us to be a certain way, then he would've just made us that way, but instead he gave us free will so that we could choose to live life with him. And so if your filter is so thin that things are just falling through. Guess what? The only thing stopping you from fixing that is yourself, is yourself. You're the only person who can decide what is, what are you consuming and how is it affecting you? I remember I did, uh, there was a message that came on my heart. I titled it, um, proclaim and one of my points. Was that one of the things stopping you from fully proclaiming the name of Jesus was what you consume and how it affects you? Because when you are fully enwrapped in Jesus, all it takes sometimes for some people is one person to disagree with you, to not align their points with you. And suddenly you're no longer a Christian and we haven't seen you in a month. That's just how it works sometimes, because sometimes our filter is so thin that anything slips through and it gets to any of us. We made the point, or I made that point in that message that, um, something God revealed to me when I was reading was that Jesus came to his disciples and told them, proclaim my name. After he died and was crucified, he came back to his disciples and mentioned it again to proclaim his name. Mm-hmm. So. Standing with that, if you think, I think it was pretty important. If Jesus died, beat death, came back three days later and told his disciples again to proclaim his name amidst all what the world has to say about him. And so that still applies today, where we live, in what we read, we live in what we study and what we hear from church and what we hear from our word. And that all starts with what can, what is consuming you and what are you consuming and how it affects you. So when we say filter, that's what we mean. That's what we got. That's what we mean. So when the filter affect, how is your filter affecting you and how is it consuming you on a day-to-day basis? Which y'all got on that?

Noah:

Yeah. Well I think, yeah, you gotta keep an eye on what you're consuming, like you said. So that goes for Instagram. That goes for YouTube. Yeah. That goes for TikTok because all that is affecting you. I always think about like how Chad V Choice says he is. Like all that stuff gets on you and then it gets in you. Yeah. Mm-hmm. And it always makes me think of that as scripture of like guarding your heart. You talked about thickness of your filter. Yeah. Um, I think you gotta be at a point where you need to be honest with yourself. Mm-hmm. Of like. Yeah. Am I good enough at guarding my heart? Is my filter thick enough Yeah. To where I can watch this? Like, uh, maybe the Instagram, uh, it's not a sin right. But am am I, am I, do I have a strong enough filter to where it won't become a sin? Yeah. Do I have a strong enough filter where it won't become a problem? Right. And also being honest with yourself in that moment to be. Yeah, probably not. Right. So maybe I should be off Instagram right now. Maybe I should be off TikTok right now and like my filter's not my filter may be thin right now, but like you said, it's always gonna be your choice to like make it bigger.

Jensen:

Yeah, that's for sure. You got anything on that or we said it all.

Gisselle :

Y'all said it all for.

Jensen:

I think we said it all. Alright. Point number two. This is how do I get control over my filter or basically what do I consume or, or what do I consume? How do I get O, how do I get control over it?

Gisselle :

Right? I have that point. And so I feel like. The biggest thing you can do first is to just give it to God. And I feel like there's just something so something so special about just being completely vulnerable and transparent with God and being like, God, I'm really struggling with this and I need help and I need, and I don't know how to deal with it on my own. You know? And it says like in one Peter five, seven, it says, cast your cares on him'cause he cares for you.

Mm-hmm.

Gisselle :

And so it's just like giving it to God means that you have that full faith in God in what he can do and in God. Yeah. And so I feel like. After that, I would just say after you recognize it, putting it into action. Because something that has stuck with me when I have to work on my filter and stuff like that is Matthew 6 22. And it says, eye is the eye is the lamp of the body. And if the eye is healthy, the body is filled with light. And if the eyes are unhealthy, the body is filled with darkness. If the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness? And I think that really stuck with me because like. Um, honestly, everything that I want to come out of me. I want it to be good.

Jensen:

Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Gisselle :

And I, everything that I want to come out of me, I want it to be honoring to God. I want it to be pleasing to God. I want it to be like a worship onto God. And I can't do that if all that I'm feeding myself, all that I'm consuming is like junk is trash. Yeah, yeah. Is all that. So it's just like you have to be careful with what you're consuming and then like realize like, this isn't good for me. This isn't good for my walk with God. This isn't good because this wouldn't honor God. And so it's just like how you guys were saying like. If you struggle with, I don't know, like lust, and then you stay watching those shows and you stay watching those movies or you like, you listen to like, you know, freaky music, you're gonna feel that way. You're gonna, that's gonna stir something within you. And so it's just like, don't lead yourself. Yeah, to like, don't lead yourself so close to the edge where you're like, it's not sin yet, but it could be. And then you're just like falling in and out, in and out, in and out.

Noah:

Mm-hmm.

Gisselle :

But like, honestly, just talk to God about it. I feel like for me, it's been a big thing of like, I know myself and this is the way that I've done it. I've literally. I've literally just gone cold Turkey and I'm like, I'm not doing this anymore. Like I care too much about my relationship with God. I care about my growth with God. I'm gonna put it into this right now. And you have that power, you have that dominion. Yeah. Over what you need to conquer. So it's just like once you put your, once you put your foot down. There's nothing that could like cross those boundaries or those lines except if you let it. Yeah. So it's just like Romans five, eight, those who live accordingly to their flesh have their mindset on what the flesh desires, but those who live in accordance with the spirit have their mindset on what the spirit desires. Mm-hmm. So it's literally, it's all up to you, bro. Like

Jensen:

Yeah.

Gisselle :

It's literally up to you. Like what you want to go, it'll go. Yeah. But what You want it to stop? It'll stop.

Noah:

Yeah. I like what you said about like, you made the choice.'cause it's like, it's not gonna affect my relationship with God, and that's the end, that that's what it is. At the end of the day, are you gonna make God the priority? Yeah. You know? Mm-hmm. Are, you might say that God is your priority, but if, if you have something that's clearly in between you and him and there's a clear avenue of like. Okay. Let's say I'm struggling with gluttony and there's a cheesecake in the fridge and I refuse to throw it away. Well, am I really making God my priority? You know, it's, you have to just, if you want to say God's your priority, well back it up with your actions, back it up with what you're actually gonna do and make, make those cuts where they need to happen.

Jensen:

I think to get like really practical too. Although most of the time nobody wants to hear this, but getting plugged into a church with a community who follows God, right? That is how you can really turn your life around and thick up your fil your filter. And uh, for me, the hardest times I've had something's funny. I don't know what's funny. I'm really having a hard time if

Gisselle :

you know, you know,

Jensen:

yeah. For those who know tough times. But, um, I think. That the, I like coming to church and finding people who align on the same vision as you, who align with the same heart, the same principles, which is God, which is the word of God. I think it, it makes getting control over what you consume so much easier because you have people holding you accountable. You have people talking to you daily saying, Hey, what are you doing today? And is it being fruitful? What are you reading in your word? All of those things keep you accountable. And for me, that has changed my life. When I have meta, when I, when I have hit a wall on, uh, just letting things attack me over and over and over again and letting it destroy my walk, the things that brought me back were people who were doing great, who could come to me and say. You need to turn to God and you need to straighten up. Right. That's just what it gets to sometimes. And I think too, when it comes, especially now, I mean we've talked about this a little bit before on this podcast where we have said that now. Everything is accessible to you. Mm-hmm. There is simply no excuse anymore to why you shouldn't be reading your word, to why you shouldn't be listening to worship music, or why you shouldn't be giving God Your All because your Bible app is on your phone. Your worship music's on YouTube. You don't have to pay for that. There are so many outlets for you to get the word and to get the content, but it's up to you to decide. I'm going to do that, I'm going to do that. And a lot of times media will tell you over and over and over, and over and over again. That relationship is between men and God. So you don't need to go to church. You don't need to go to church. You, there's no, what's the point of going to church? If I can sit at home and read my Bible nine times outta 10, those people aren't reading their Bibles peace and love. It's just an excuse to not experience community, to not experience the word of God in a group setting. There are some things so special and the spirit becomes so thick and tangible when you are all sitting in a room. Aligning on the same vision and the same point, which is to serve God and praise God with your entire heart, with your entire heart. And sometimes this idea, this has crossed my mind, it's crossed my family members' mind where we have said, or where I've heard them say, and I've looked at them and they have said, oh, I'd love Jesus, but I don't love the church.

Noah:

Ooh,

Jensen:

I love taking on. I love God take, but I'll take, I do not love the church. Lemme tell you something. You do not love Jesus. You love the idea of Jesus. Ooh, you love, that's

Noah:

right.

Jensen:

The idea of free mercy and free grace and redemption and salvation. But when it comes to when he taught go gather. When two or when three more gathered. When we are in a space together, go build churches and temples in my name. Suddenly it's la, la, la, la, la. I don't hear a word you're saying. Mm-hmm. But when it comes to free redemption and salvation, oh, I'm all up in that. I'm ready. I'm ready to receive God. But when it comes to teaching about churches. It, it suddenly shuts off, and that's where it's hard, where you need to f. Thick up your filter so that you understand what is biblical and what is not. Your filter cannot be thick without being biblically literate to an extent. That's right. Mm-hmm. Because things will fall past you solely because of the fact you didn't know it wasn't true. How would you know something's not true if you haven't read it for yourself? All that's right. All of what our phones tell us is other people's opinions. Lord, take everybody's opinion away. Oh my Lord. Look it, I'm a very opinionated person, right? But I don't be blasting it on social media because I understand it's like a TikTok ad. Y'all ever scroll? Every other ad is a, every other video is a TikTok ad,

Gisselle :

right?

Noah:

Oh, bro.

Gisselle :

Ts

Jensen:

not one pair, not two pair, but three pairs. Who wants this hair straightener, this and that. Oh my gosh, let, let me live. Let me live. I just can't. And it's the same idea when. When that thing, when it's filtering your mind and it hits you over and over and over and over again to the point where it just becomes normal. Yeah, that's just what people think and that's what I should think because that's what everybody else thinks. But your filter will never be thick unless you sit down in your word and study it for yourself unless you study it for yourself. And I notice too, that when you study your word for yourself. Suddenly you realize so many things that you might have heard or have even said that just aren't true. Yeah. And that you're letting sit in your heart being false and not true. Mm-hmm. And it, it convicts you a little bit of like, how could I have believed this? But there's no conviction behind that. It's simply just I'm learning it and I'm correcting it and I'm getting better so I can spread that correct word to everybody around me. But it starts with reading in your Bible because that's how you get control of it. And finding a good. Like community filled with people who believe the same thing you do and people who are gonna hold you accountable for what's going on. People who are gonna look you in the eye and look at you and say, you need to fix what you're doing. You're not doing the right stuff. Yeah. You're not, you're, you're not living for God fully. Yeah. And I think people get confused. You, I'm talking a lot. I'm sorry. We we're getting confused sometimes where like they only categorize us because maybe you're really deep into church or maybe you're brand new in church. Whether or not you're brand new to church or you've been there forever, God is still the same. God's word is still the same, which means his teachings are still the same, which means you need to be in church fully, which means you need to be in a temple under His name, with people surrounding you who all believe the exact same thing. The exact same thing. Are you getting what I'm putting down? Amen. Put down. That's good. Okay, good. Oh,

Noah:

no, go ahead. No. There we go.

Jensen:

There we go. There we go. Love you, Tyler.

Noah:

No, but it makes me think of that verse you brought up, um, the one about darkness and light. Um, a certain translation of that verse says, so, it says that like it, if the light you think you have is darkness, right? How much darker that darkness actually is, right? And so what does that mean? It it's pride, right? It's pride. So if you're in that situation where you're fighting, like, um. I If you're in that situation where you're thinking, living in the I know everything,

Jensen:

right?

Noah:

Like, I don't need church. Why do I need to, why do I need a pastor already? Right? I know the Bible. I can read the Bible. Yeah. Why do I need, why do I need the community? I, I know how to keep myself accountable. Right? I'm, I'm so this, I'm so that. Yeah. Well, first of all, one, it's not about you. First of all, you didn't get saved by you. You got saved by grace, right? Yeah. So, like, if you're living in this, I, I know everything. Well, the Bible says how much more deep that darkness actually is.

Jensen:

Right?

Noah:

How much, how much, how much more are you really gonna need? You know, why are you fighting if, uh, God is a priority in life? And the Bible says that church will help with that community will help with that. Um, like having pastor, like people above you teaching, you will help with that. Why are you fighting that? Why do you still think you can do it on your own when that's supposed to be something that actually makes your faith better?

Jensen:

Yeah, and I think a little piece of advice too for me that. Really has always been a part of my walk at church. Again, to be practical is that I take notes with every single service that we have here. Yeah. Because why would I come to a service just to hear somebody talk and forget about it an hour later? Yeah. No, I want to hear what you're saying and I want it to change my life. I want it to come into my life and fix whatever's going on. And that's how you get control over what you consume is, if you remember. The things that you should be consuming. Yeah. Suddenly it's a lot easier to avoid what you shouldn't be. Mm-hmm. Consuming. Yeah. So if you're at church on Sundays, and I'm not saying, you know, if you, if you do a paper notebook props to you, I give it to you. I think that's really cool. I can't,'cause I can't read my own handwriting, so I do it on my phone real. Okay. It's just really hard for me to read it, so I do it on my phone instead, but it holds the same weight because I'm writing down the same information. People get confused, like, oh, we just teach messages so y'all can hear it and then move on. No, we do it so it can last. Mm-hmm. We, we tell you these things and God works through us as vessels to communicate to you so that it lasts in your heart and it lasts in your life. And if you're not taking notes already, I got you. I'm just kidding. Yeah. Okay. Nevermind. But I'm saying that you need to hold onto those things that you learn because they do come in handy and they do affect your life and let them affect your life because it is easier to consume. Yeah. All right. I think we're ready for three.

Noah:

I like that. Um, just to add

Jensen:

Oh, no, my bad.

Noah:

To that weight, did I have some, wait, I'm trying to think.

Jensen:

No, go ahead.

Noah:

Wait, now I don't remember. That's okay. Go to three.

Jensen:

We're going to three. Well, you're three.

Noah:

Hello. I'm three. So defeated. Wait, I'm like, who's three?

Jensen:

Wait, who was a three?

Noah:

Wait, so who's up? Okay, so, uh, number three. It's how do I keep control over my filter? Mm-hmm. Um, my, the first thing I wrote on this is know when you're weak, or I guess I can say it now. Know when your filter's thin. Yeah. Know when you're like susceptible. I think that's the biggest thing. Um, that's like work for me, like. Kind of bring it back to the less example, something practical. Well, when I bet I, I bet you probably have a time of day where that's probably problematic. Yeah. You know, there's probably, it probably gets you more at night. You know, there, there's something about just knowing when you're weak for me. Yeah. Like that's when I'm tired, like, and I'm drained and I know like I'm doing this, this, and this. I've had like three doubles this week, and then I got another sermon to prep for and I'm just like, I got to the end of it and I'm drained. I know I let, I give myself excuse in those moments, right? Mm-hmm. So I know to be even more intentional in those moments. Mm-hmm. Right. And like, kinda like you said, being intentional. That's what I was gonna say before is like being intentional with that filter of like specifically in the morning. Like that's a time of day where I'm like, okay, no Instagram, no this, because it's like that'll affect the rest of my day. I'm gonna have a bunch massive dopamine hit in the morning and the rest of my day is gonna be chopped'cause,

Jensen:

right. Yeah, exactly. I think, well, I mean we kind of like covered it in the last one of how you keep it because I, we just said listen to what you are hearing in church. Listen to. I think a big one too is listening to the words that you're hearing in your worship music as well. Yeah. That your worship music is not just to scream on the highway, it's simply because the words that are being sung have so much power and meaning behind them. That's why they're worship songs and that I think we neglect that they can actually teach us. Something. This just happened to me. This just happened to me where, uh, this new song came out. Um, everyone is sick of me talking about it. I'm gonna talk about it again. It's, uh, by Isabel Catherine, and BCB Worship, and it's called Showing Up and Showing Off. And one of the lyrics in that song is that it says this, it, he stopped at the cross. It would've been enough, but he wasn't done. But he wasn't done that if he had stopped at the cross, when he said it is finished, if it really was finished, or even if it was finished,'cause it was. It still did not mean he was done working. That's how good God is. Right. And for whatever reason, that hit me so hard because I was like, oh my gosh, they're teaching me something. Oh my God, they're actually writing stuff. Like it changed my life. I was like, this is incredible. I put it in at least two short words after that. I was like, I heard it. Need to share this. Like I need, it needs to get out. Are y'all hearing it? So if y'all get a chance showing up, showing off it, Isabel, Catherine, b, CB, worship, please go listen to it. Yes. It's incredible. It's all about how. That even though God died for your sins, God still wasn't done working in your life. Mm-hmm. God still was not done moving in your life. That's how good God is. Uh, but my point is, is that even in worship songs that sound so like, oh, gotta turn on my worship music again'cause I'm a Christian. No, they're, they're literally teaching you things. They are literally teaching you things. You will be saved. Elevation, rhythm. Just believe in your heart and confess with your mouth, you will be saved. That's the entire tone of that song. The entire theme of that song is salvation. Mm-hmm. Now that song just quotes the verse. Yeah, like that, that song is teaching you things in its words and in its lyrics. So pay attention to your worship music, because that's, for me, I think worship music is sometimes the more, is almost easier than reading your Bible every morning. Doesn't mean you shouldn't. That's not an excuse. You should always be reading your Bible more, but sometimes it's just easier and sometimes I can just turn it on here, so sometimes it feels insignificant. But in my mind, it's almost more significant or not more significant than your word, but it's more significant than you think because these words are so impactful. Yeah. So these worship songs you're listening to, whether it's promises or never lost, whatever, it's still teaching you something. So listen to that because if it's so much easier for you to listen to worship music than your Bible one, turn that around. Yeah. Two, for right now, at least listen to what you're singing. Yeah. And listen to what the words you're saying are.

Gisselle :

Right. I think that just, that just shows how accessible God is.

Jensen:

Yeah.

Gisselle :

Like you, you can just receive God in anything and everything. And I just think that's so cool. Like reading your word, listening to the worship music, just praying and talking to God daily, like he's just so accessible and I think that's crazy. That's awesome.

Noah:

Kind of what I heard from that is kind of being able to replace it, so not only be able to guard your filter. But being able to,'cause like I think if you, if you get really good at Guardian filter, but you're not good at replacing that, it's gonna feel like you're fighting your own thoughts. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Like, it's gonna be like, oh my gosh, I'm like trying to fight lust or something. And it's like, oh, there's a thought. And it's like, oh, I'm trying so hard to fight this thought. But it, once you can get good at replacing that, and that goes with God's word, that goes with worship music, being able to feed yourself good food, it's gonna be able to like, where it's not like you're fighting yourself. It's like, oh no, I'm just following him. I'm not fighting myself. I'm following him.

Jensen:

Yeah, I agree. That point too.

Gisselle :

Anybody got that?

Jensen:

Y'all got that? Y'all down, y'all? That one? Did y'all write that down? We just said it. That was just said it. No, it's fine. That was in my notes by the way. He did that. It

Gisselle :

was also in my notes. Literally. That's sick

Jensen:

dude. God is so crazy.

Gisselle :

You copied my notes, bro. See, that's freaking

Jensen:

genius. I

Noah:

said that

Jensen:

wasn't my, what'd you say?

Noah:

I said it wasn't my notes.

Jensen:

Oh, well it mine. I thought it was, sorry.

Noah:

In my notes.

Jensen:

My bad, Harry. All right, well

Noah:

wait who?

Jensen:

Wait, who? Oh, shoot. My bad. Oh my Noah. Oh my bad. But I wanna go back to that point that you said where, um, how accessible God is. We kind of said at the beginning, but. I just, God's putting more in my heart to talk about that. But when it comes to like accessibility, like we said at the beginning, yeah. God is more accessible to you than arguably he has ever been. Are you kidding me?

Noah:

That's right.

Jensen:

Like it's literally in the palm of your hand half the time. It's literally right in front of your face. Yeah. And sometimes we still, we know these things. We hear'em all the time, and yet we would still rather rely on our own thinking and our own doing rather than what God has to tell us. And that's just a point of pride in being naive really. And that believing that what you have to say is above what God has to say. Yeah. And I'm telling you, and sometimes you don't even know. You're thinking that sometimes you're just living your life and that's how you've always lived. But now I want you to know that if you are living such like a prideful life and you are noticing no change in your spiritual walk, or you're finding yourself more angry than upset, or you're having a harder time waking up in the mornings or feeling joyful or feeling excited in the morning, it's because you're relying on worldly things like your own thoughts. Rather than God's thoughts and what the word of God has to say because he's given you new life. Mm-hmm. He's given you joy. He's given you patience. He's given you all the tools you need to live a fulfilled life. Yet we would still rather live in our own understanding than what God has to say, what God has to say. Mm-hmm. And um, I've been really big on like faith lately of like believing in God and this idea of like. My whole life I've been a Christian, and so sometimes faith to me is just normal. Faith to me is like, oh yeah, you just believe in God, duh. You know what I mean? Yeah. But lately I've been seeing and noticing that faith is not as easy as sometimes we make it seem, and faith is not as easy as sometimes. We like to preach in church sometimes. Just believe in God. Just live with God. Yeah. Just believe in God. To me, I'm like, let's believe in God. But to somebody else who's never been to church, why would they know anything but to not believe in God their whole life? Like that's just how it goes. And so part of what you consume has to do with how your faith reacts to that? Yeah. That if you consume only things that. Yeah. Clog your mind or mess with what you're like, even in your saying some, there's been times where I've been really deep in my sin and I've said jokes where I'm like, I need to go home and wash my mouth. I was soap like, I like, I feel like I'm disgusted just by what I just said. Like, that is gross, you know? And so. But like what you're consuming affects your faith. Like if you are only consuming media that's telling you God's not real, or your denomination is not real, or your word of is not real, or you're constantly watching, here's why. Christianity's fake, top 10 reasons why Christianity's fake all these things. How can you expect your faith to grow? Unless you're sitting there being like, well, I have my Bible open. I'm about to, I'm about to cook this fool who's sitting here being like, Christianity's not real. Yeah. Literally. Even then, if that's all you're consuming, why would you expect to believe anything other than God's not real, if that's all you're believing. Right. And I think we get that mixed up because we're like, well, I should be, you know, if I need to spread the word of God, I need to be in, in the works with people who don't believe the same thing as me. I'm like, you're just sitting there consuming it. You're not trying to tell them why you're right. You know what I mean? You're just sitting there, literally just taking it in and sometimes teaching someone, Christianity is not telling them anything. It's just being there. Yeah. Sometimes showing somebody Christianity and the God we serve has nothing to do with the words that come outta your mouth. Sometimes it's just your body language. Yeah. Maybe the, the joy that you just radiate off of you. I'm telling you the Holy Spirit, it radiates off of you in a room full of darkness. It says we are the, we are the salts of the earth. We are, we are literally lights. Yeah. We light up darkness. We are the salt. We make people crave more of Jesus. Yeah. Sometimes you don't have to say anything. Your presence is enough and your presence could completely change. Yeah. What somebody wants to consume. Mm-hmm. Think about that. That's your presence in a room can completely 180 somebody's craving for darkness. Right? Mm-hmm. Your joy and your peace can make somebody want that same joy and same peace. Yeah. Just by being there. Mm-hmm. That's how incredible. I mean, that's just how the Holy Spirit works in a room. Yeah. You walk into a room full of sadness and darkness, maybe addiction across the room. Almost all of us go to public school. Raise your hand if you go to public school in here. Well, we're gonna pray later. Okay? Actually,

Noah:

no,

Jensen:

I don't, dude, almost more than half the room. Public school is not a private school. Clearly it's not a, it's not filled with people who believe the same thing as us. So when you walk into that building, when you walk into that setting, you are radiating the love and joy and mercy of God. You realize that you are literally radiating it off of you and you could change somebody's life just by being around them and showing them how God acted. It's incredible. It's incredible. Somebody's dark and lustful thoughts can change just because they saw you overcome a situation with a smile on your face. Yeah. You didn't even say anything. Just a smile on your face. That's how far a smile can go and your consumption has everything to do with that. Has everything to do with that. Alright, so we cover, oh my gosh, what was that? Yo, wait, I don't know what that was. My bad. Alright, we had three, three point bangers. I'm just gonna say, I'm gonna sum'em up real quick. What is getting past your filter? How do I get control over my filter? Basically what I consume, how do I get over that? And how do I keep control over my filter? If you can't tell the filter affect, your filter affects your life. That's right. If you're having a hard time. Staying in the groove with God, staying with him, staying content with him in your word, whatever that may be. Check what you're consuming and check how it affects your life as well. I, because it has a massive part on your walk with faith and on your walk with God. Yeah. And get into a church.

Noah:

Absolutely. Lord

Jensen:

have mercy. Get into a church.

Noah:

What you were saying earlier about TikTok and like. Don't believe those Christians on TikTok. Most of'em are dumb. I just wanna say that most of'em are so dumb. Internet angry is free.

Jensen:

The internet is free.

Noah:

Yeah, exactly. The internet is free. And here's what I'll say. If they are not in a church, more than likely don't listen to'em. That's what, that'd be my advice. If they're not in some sort of church and they have a home church. More. More than likely what they're about to say is the silliest thing ever.

Jensen:

It's not it. I got one more point. Hold on. So also, okay, another thing. One more second. Okay. No. Okay. When you consume, when you watch what you consume, it's not only dark stuff. Watch what you consume with your faith. Watch what pastors are listening to. Watch what the theologians you're listening to. Watch. Read your word and align it with what they're saying because there are pastors who will not quote the word of God. Correctly, there are ministries who will not align their work with the word of God. So your consumption does not only lie in the world, it lies in a church as well. And so you need to be guarded and that all starts with your biblical, biblical literacy. Yeah. Be

Noah:

able to

Jensen:

test them, to able to test them, be able to be able to get'em if it's not the same thing. So know what you're reading, know what you, and understand what you're reading so that you, there's no confusion on your walk with God because it's not that hard to knock off the path. The path is narrow. The path is very narrow, but that doesn't mean it's impossible to get through it, and that starts with what you consume and how you consume it. All right. Did y'all learn something tonight? Did you get something out of tonight? Hey, I think y'all did. I hope y'all did. Um, well, if y'all didn't know, I'm gonna talk for just a minute and we'll then we'll end it. But. We, uh, our BC pod, we have a believer center pod. This is real. It's awesome. It's so cool. I'm doing it with my two best friends. We just get to fight around telling, we fight around. It's really chop, chop, chop, chop, chop,

Noah:

chop,

Jensen:

chop. I don't know why y'all think we would fart around. I don't know, but I think, you know, you get the gist. All right, so. But, uh, find those things that, that, that bring you that same satisfaction as your word. But don't skip out on your word just because you found a good worship song. Read your word constantly. And part of that is if you're looking for a podcast, go listen to BC Pod. Or if you find another podcast, go listen to that podcast. Just fill your mind with things that are fruitful. Don't fill them with stuff that's gonna make you fall back and corrupt. Amen. So, fill your mind. Get ready with it. Well, I'm gonna ask you again, did y'all learn something tonight? Yeah. Hey. Hey, privilege and honor. Y'all got any final remarks? Final words.

Gisselle :

Don't forget to buy my new book,

Jensen:

life Code.

Noah:

Wait,

what's

Gisselle :

the book called? It's, it's out in the bookstore right now. So what's,

Jensen:

what's it about? What's, what's it about?

Gisselle :

Life Code.

Jensen:

Right? Life Code. What's the book

Gisselle :

Code

Jensen:

for Life?

Gisselle :

It's the New Rules for Winning in the Real World. So,

Jensen:

yeah. Who is you? All right? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Noah, any final remarks?

Gisselle :

I don't know why he said that. Yeah, why? I dunno, why, why they do that?

Jensen:

You'll never know.

Gisselle :

And

Jensen:

y'all. I herold your beginning. I herold your end. I herold.

Noah:

Cut the, cut the spot. Cut

Jensen:

the We'll see y'all later. Thanks for tuning in. PC is har, the heck is Harold. Who's, let's go. Let's go. And that is, that is a wrap everybody. That is a wrap on the pod, everybody.
