Wholehearted Discipleship

Thomas Cruthis

Jesus calls us to wholehearted discipleship, not half-hearted commitment. Through Matthew 8:18-22, we see two men who approached Jesus with seemingly good intentions but revealed misplaced priorities. The scribe valued comfort and prestige more than following Christ, while another disciple prioritized family obligations over obedience. Jesus, the King of kings who gave up everything for us, deserves our complete allegiance. True discipleship means choosing purpose and the King's presence over popularity, prestige, and comfort. We must be willing to follow Jesus immediately and completely, whatever the cost.
