Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series, episode by episode. over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures. I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series.
LA:I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get to La Hello, Burley. Are there two T's and well, two T's and SWAT,
Berly:like SWAT team. Yeah, I don't know. I don't think so. Just think it's just Swat.
LA:Okay, it just didn't look right. Anyway, sorry. All right on the last episode we did was no exit. pretty blonde girls were disappearing from an apartment building. Joe wanted to go on hunts to be closer with or to feel closer to her dad because that was his thing. Ellen was pissed about it. Didn't want to do it. But Joe went anyway, and Dean lied for. And we found out that it was HH Holmes, who was taking the His Spirit, which was quite a twist. Yeah, taking the the ladies Joe got taken by him. But luckily he didn't kill her. And the boys founder, then user as bait to trap, HH Holmes. And then they trapped him in salt, and conch like through concrete into the entrance so nobody could get down there.
Berly:We found out that his grave really is filled with cement. Because he didn't want people fucking with his body, even though he did all the time, right live and that you murdered an estimated 200 people or something
LA:like that. And in Elon revealed that Joe's father was on a hunt with John Winchester whenever he died. And John never really came back and couldn't look at Elon anymore. And Joe was pretty upset about it after finding out and didn't really want much to do with him anymore. And then just kind of told them to go and
Berly:they left. And that also was like why Ellen was so pissed that Dean lied to her. Yeah, because she already didn't really trust them very much. But yeah, that was my exit. Today's episode is the usual suspects. And this one was a little shaky at the beginning with the back and forth when it was showing current time and then doing a flashback, current time and doing a flashback. But it's it found its footing by the end. Yeah, I ended up really liking this episode. And I didn't think I would in the beginning. Yeah,
LA:me either. I think whenever Pete gave Dean that look is when I was finally interest. I was like, what do we have here?
Berly:Alright, well, we're getting ahead of ourselves. Yes, sorry. It was an interesting plot point. We start out in a police station. And it's kind of hectic, the cameras moving around. Essentially, what we find out is that they just got a very interesting call on somebody. One of the cops is talking about murder and breaking an injury and grave. What's the word? They use grave desecration. But anyways, it's an interesting call. The station is all abuzz. It's cutting back and forth between the police station and a motel. And we see a SWAT team with like the big Rammer and everything running up and lit up layers there. And they kick in the door and they're saying, Mom, but he's still got his cast on. Yeah. And he's just looking around going What the fuck is happening? Yeah,
LA:the SWAT team was a bit much.
Berly:Was that really necessary? Right one man.
LA:I mean, he is big,
Berly:but I mean, come on. And he is a Winchester, so I guess they thought they needed to use extra precautions. Back at the police station, it's revealed that Dean is already in custody and dealing with this douchebag cop and this music kicks in that totally made me expect that I was going to hear Adele in a second go. Hello. It never happened. But this music came back later and agreed with me. You agreed with me?
LA:Oh, yeah, I could totally see where you thought that
Berly:at the police station. Douchebag cop is talking to Dean and we figure out that Dean was found at the crime scene where there's a body the McCarran Giles has been murdered. And so of course they assume that Dean is the killer he's our primary suspect he's the one who was there with the body. We were really confused at first because they were obviously talking about finding Dean and past tense. So we were thinking they were referring to a previous episode or something but it's just one of those things where they show you what's happening and then go back and show you and go back like we were saying earlier. I don't like it whenever stuff do use it is nothing against this particular episode or director. I just don't like it when shows tell a story in that way. Nine times out of 10
LA:My mom's the same way she's like she She she gets confused. She's like, Wait a minute. What? Where are we? Now? She's like, I thought we were just here. And I always have to like re explain things. So she she likes a linear story.
Berly:I prefer a linear story as well. Yeah. And when this one went into being a linear story, I felt like that's when it found it. Yeah. Yeah. They take Sam and so the Winchester brothers are separated. They're in two different rooms. Linda Blair is interrogating Sam douchebag cop is still interrogating Dean. Linda Blair was being good cop. Douchebag cop was being bad cop. As Linda Blair is talking to Sam. She's telling him his whole life story. We know who you are Sam Winchester, pre law, Jessica's death, abandoned daddy, everything. They did say John Winchester, we don't know his whereabouts. So I thought that was interesting.
LA:I like how she was like, you can't. I mean, it's not your fault. Dean's your brother. We can't pick our family. I was like, Bitch.
Berly:Sam agrees with Linda that yeah, all of that is true. And after Jessica, I took some time off. And I've just been on a road trip with my brother. But Linda Blair is trying to get Sam to flip on Dean. So that comes back to how you were saying that she's Oh, I don't we don't pick her family. Linda Blair is still trying to get more information. So Sam decides, you know what, let me tell you what happened. This is how things went down. And we flashback to
LA:if he was actually had gone to law school started at all. That's he would know you don't you don't fucking talk until you have a lawyer present. Even if he thinks he's going to represent himself like he should know not to start talking.
Berly:I don't think he thought he was gonna represent himself. I think he thought there Winchesters and they're gonna find their way out of it.
LA:Well, yeah, I'm sure but just I am for those out there. If you ever get arrested, keep your mouth shut.
Berly:You are off to the calm. You are not a Winchester Yeah. So we do a little flashback. Sam and Dean are sitting at a cafe and Dean is looking at a newspaper article that is talking about Anthony Giles. And we find out this was somebody who served with their dad in the Marines. They've known them their whole lives. And he was found with his throat slit. Because of that they decide let's go look into it. Sam is now in present day. And he points out to Linda Blair that we weren't even in town when Tony got killed. And I'm Dean's alibi, but then she brings up Karen Giles body. We flashback again. And it shows Dean and Sam talking with Karen Giles and her home they've posed as insurance representatives or what have you, and are talking to her trying to get questions answered. Dean is asking her their usual questions about did you see anything weird smell anything weird? And Karen is just like, What the fuck are you talking about? She did not seem comfortable with these questions. But fortunately, they do get out of her that before he died. Tony had told her that he saw a pale woman with red eyes standing over him when he was sleeping one night. It was a dream. I don't think it was. I think Tony explained it. He thought it was yeah, he explained it away as a dream. It must have just been a dream. But we find out later in the episode. It wasn't. Now we flashback to the police station. Linda Blair and Sam are talking. She brings up well, you guys broken entered into his office. It was an active crime scene. Sam I think fibbed said that. Well, Karen said there were some things in there that she wanted. So we said we'd go get them for she gave us the keys, you're playing innocent. We cut back to Sam and Dean and the office walking around the crime scene. There's bill, pile blood pile of blood, big ol blood stain on the floor where Tony's body was apparently found. And they're poking around the office looking at things and they find these papers that look like they came out of the printer. And it says the same. It's the same letters over and over and over and over and over again. They even find the letters on the desk. Sam, like blows hot air on that desk. It's like a glass desk. So it looks like somebody wrote it on there. It's like an Constantine. The secret message that the twin left out of the letters. What they're able to put together is Dana Schoeps. They assume it's a name. Sam then gets on the computer and starts looking for Dana shops. What what who is this person? Somebody who lives here, somebody who's died, what have you. And while Sam is doing that Dean is obviously getting bored. He's whistling, he's fidgeting, he's doing things. And at that point, Sam says I'll need like another 30 minutes, dude like just give me some time to figure this out. And Dean decides, you know what, I'm gonna go back to Karen dials and ask her some more questions. See if I can get more information. In the meantime, Karen is at home chilling out on the couch. And she looks over into this. I think it was a door was it a door with multiple panes? Like has the panels on it? Yeah. She looks up glances over like a French door right? Yeah. I think was like a French door to like the dining room. You'd have some houses have like the doors or something. It was something like that. And she sees the this pale woman we're gonna call her creepy Daryl Hannah for now. Yeah, so creepy. Daryl Hannah is watching her on the couch and it scares the shit out of Karen.
LA:Well, it was kind of cool because with the paneling, and it was a little disjointed. It kind of made it look creepier than if it was just a normal, clear window.
Berly:Yeah. And it was like one of those things that since it was disjointed. I would have been asking myself did I see that? Was that reflection? What the fuck was that? But Karen did not do that. It freaked her out enough that she took off her glasses and gave it a few more looks. But she said no, fuck this. I'm calling 911. They did do a cut back to Linda Blair and Sam and Linda Blair did say something about I heard the 911 call. Karen was terrified. She was a bit much in that scene. Yes. And the back and forth. Forgive me if I don't get all of it because again, it was happening quite a bit at the beginning of the episode. Karen calls 911 and all she's doing the call. The lights start flickering. The phone goes dead. And yet the printer starts printing. What's it printing? The same letters Danish shops Danish short, stay in the shops. Karen looks at it as like what the fuck is this? Karen goes into. I think it was a storage closet. Maybe it was her bedroom closet. I don't know it doesn't really matter and gets a gun because she is convinced there is an intruder right now. Creepy. Daryl Hannah appears again. And it cuts away so we don't see what happened. Dean shows up at Karen's house and knocks on the door when no one answers the door. Dane does what a Winchester is gonna do and breaks and enters into the home. He's walking around cautiously looking for stuff and he does end up finding Karen's body. Of course, it's at that time that the cops show up responding to the 911 call. And they literally find Dean over Karen's body. He was looking at her wrist because there was some weird bruising around her wrist whenever the cops come in or like my boss. Dean also did happen to see the paper with Dana Schultz on it over and over again before he crouched over and was spoken with the body. Back at the police station. Linda Blair is talking to douchebag cop asking if he's been getting anywhere with Dean douchebag cop says I'm getting a lot of wise ass comments or wise asked remarks. But that's about it. Then he like touches Linda Blair's chin.
LA:Well before that he almost went for like, brushing her face her boob? Oh, I didn't notice that. Like the lapel of her jacket. Even Kelly kind of stroked that before he went to to her face.
Berly:It just it becomes very clear. Yeah. And they go away guys. They be fuckin Yeah. And overall, they're really pushing, we need to get Sam to flip. We gotta get Sam to flip. It's revealed through their conversation that douchebag cop was friends with Tony and Karen Giles. But it also becomes clear that douchebag cop he wants to close this. He wants to pin it on Dean and be done. And Linda Blair is not on board. She's pointing out the same stuff that Sam was saying most of this stuff is circumstantial. At best. We don't have any solid evidence. And while she was saying all that I got very excited. And I screamed and put a TV and struggled LA. Because I figured out the twist at the
LA:end. Yeah, you did. You got it all.
Berly:We see Dean in the interrogation room and he is assigned a public defender who was just a little sweetie. But I think it's fortunate that Dean and Sam did not have to rely on him. To get out of this situation. Dean is trying to figure out Dana Schultz, what is this? And oddly enough, Sam is doing the same thing in the other room. They're both thinking the same thing at the same time. And they're thinking it's an anagram. So he's written down, Dean has written down every combination of the letters that he can think of and shows it to the lawyer and asks him does any of this seem familiar to you? Maybe it's a name, a place, what have you. And the lawyer says, well, there is an ash lane, and it's just right around the corner. Basically, Dean writes a note and insists that the Lawyer Go talk to Sam. In the meantime, Linda Blair is taking down all her notes. You can tell that she seems kind of agitated after her conversation with douchebag cop because she knows something's not adding up while she's taking her notes. All of a sudden her computer goes crazy and it's doing Danish shops Danish and stay in the shop. Stay in the short stay in the shops. She's just sitting back going What the fuck is going On, she looks around. And then when she looks back at her computer screen, all the letters are gone. Yeah, she's kind of freaked out. But she just thinks she's crazy at this point. The public defender goes in to see Sam and I did think it was cute that Sam calls the public defender Matlock, which Dean had also called him that. So they make the joke. Well, you two are definitely brothers. A crowd has gathered outside of Dean's cell. They're all behind like the one way glass that was called when my near there's a whole big crowd. And it turns out, Dean has said, You know what, I'm going to confess, but he doesn't confess what they're wanting him to. Dean actually tells the truth, right, that they're hunting of Vengeful Spirit. And he talks about the Dana Schultz thing and the anagram and Linda Graham, or Linda Blair goes, oh fuck, because she had just seen that douchebag cop gets super aggressive. Whenever Dean is telling his story, because again, you know, he's wanting Dean to just confess to everything.
LA:Yeah. And I think Pete kind of is conflicted about his feelings about Dean. He slammed him against the wall and gave him this. This look like I was like, Oh, he wants him. Right. He wants Dean and not, not in the way a cop wants. Yeah, he like slammed him up against
Berly:the wall. And the way he looked at him was that I just next there's a commotion over in Sam's room. And what happened? It turns out Sam escaped. The whole reason that Dean was doing this confession was a distraction so that Stam could get out of there. Now you might be asking yourself, Well, how did Sam know? I'll tell you how audience whenever Dean wrote that note, he actually wrote the note to hilts from McQueen, which referenced a film called The Great Escape. It's a 1960s movie. Basically, that was his signal to say, um, that I'm going to create a diversion you get out of here. I thought that was super fucking clever. And I liked that Linda Blair picked up on it and douchebag cop was like, What is this little room? Obviously Linda Blair is frustrated. There's just so much going on. So she goes to the bathroom is chilling out in front of the mirrors and all the sinks start going off, and it's on hot water, and there's a lot of steam, and the letters Danish Schultz start to appear on the mirror. Linda Blair wipes away the steam and Oh, in the reflection, there's creepy Daryl Hannah. Linda Blair turns around and creep at 10 or higher, but creepy. Daryl Hannah walks up toward her and goes. Linda Blair is freaked to say the least. She goes and visits with Dean because she knows this guy obviously knows something. She's not convinced he's telling the truth. But this Dana Schultz thing and this ghost thing. And I keep seeing this. I've just seen this woman with our throat slit and blood everywhere. Let me go talk to this guy. During their conversation, Linda Blair lifts up her hand and her jacket shows her wrist. And Dean notices that she has the same bruising around her wrist that Karen Giles had. So he's asking her Where did you get that? What have you seen? They end up having a little discussion. And I like that Dean says, Listen, I know you think you're going crazy right now, but we just need to move past that. Just put a pin in it. We'll come back to it later. You need to go see Sam. And Dean tells Linda Blair, where she'll be able to find Sam because they would normally figure out a way to meet up because Sam escaped and the assumption is that Dean won't be far behind. Linda Blair meets up with Sam and lets him know what's going on, fills him in. And Sam says, Hey, I have all these pictures. Will you go through these pictures? Let me know if any of them look like creepy Daryl Hannah. And Linda Blair says How did you get access to these? These are all from crime scenes or booking photos. And Sam says who you have your job. I have mine. Linda Blair goes through the pictures and finds one that she is certain is creepy Daryl Hannah. And this person's name. This character's name is Claire Beckett. Becker. Sam says great. We've got an identity. Now we need to find the body let's stop and burn our bones. That's what gets rid of a vengeful spirit, no problem. So he looks up where was clear Becker's last known location. And it turns out it was on what ash lane. Linda Blair goes with Sam to ash lane to go through the premises and see if they can't find Claire's body. While they're there. Claire shows herself presents herself manifests what have you for Linda Blair again, and she's coming up to her again bent. And she's pointing and Linda Blair thinks that she's kind of reaching out to her but they figure out Claire was pointing at the wall behind her, and that that's actually where her body was hidden. So Sam tears down the wall. And while he's doing this, he's kind of amusing out loud. I wonder why she's doing this vengeful spirits don't normally want us to find their body and destroy their remains. Something doesn't seem right about this. They get out the body and they open it and it's still kind of meaty, like it's been there for a while, but it's not a skeleton. They see that her wrists are bound and Linda Blair kind of holds her wrist near her and they make the connection that Yeah, her wrists would have been fucked up how yours are, but they also find a necklace. And Linda Blair recognizes the necklace because it was made custom, just like the one on her neck. And she says it was given to me by Pete. Joe. I must have missed his name earlier. But Pete is douchebag calm. While talking with Sam. Linda Blair remembers that a while back there was a shitload of heroin that disappeared from evidence and that they didn't know who took it. And they kind of figure out that Pete must have done it and then use Claire to actually sell the product. Meanwhile, douchebag cop has decided that if he can't have Dean, no one can. And he is transferring Dean. But everyone in the police office is kind of freaking out because they don't understand where he's transferring Dean to. He's just driving Dean out into the middle of nowhere. He's going to try and pin everything on Dean. He's going to try and claim that Dean tried to escape while he was transferring him. He's got it all planned out. It's a messy plan. Pete It's a messy plan at best.
LA:And even I think when we get to the part you're talking about, it's just like he's like, like he wants he wants Dean in so many. I think he wants him in bed. He wants them dead and He wants them to take the fall. He's just very conflicted. It's a lot. A lot of feelings for Dean.
Berly:It's all very mixed singles. What mixed signals Pete True. Figure out your life. Yeah, get it together. Luckily, Linda Blair and Sam have had the low Jack turned on. I think that's what they called it and tracked the vehicle because Pete's dumb ass actually used one of the cop vehicles to try and quote unquote, transfer Dean. They show up just in time, Pete has pulled Dean out of the back, thrown him onto the ground, loosened up his tie and unbuttoned a top button for some reason. Getting ready to take some clothes off. Linda Blair shows up with her gun pointed at Pete just in time to stop him from shooting Dean and gets the full tee. Pete spills everything about the heroin, using Claire to sell it how Claire was going to come clean. She didn't want to do it anymore. That Tony is who was helping him wash the money and he was going to complain and didn't want to do it anymore. And then Karen knew what was going on. So he had to kill all of them. And just telling Linda Blair it's perfect. I'm just gonna pin everything on this guy. You know, it's good. We're good, baby. We're good. Yeah, he
LA:called he called Deena gift.
Berly:You got really happy about?
LA:Oh, yeah, I was right. I was right about his conflicting feeling.
Berly:Well, Claire shows up. And just a does her weird Downton stare that she does. And it distracts Pete long enough that Linda Blair is able to shoot him in the leg. Take his ass down. Oh, no, she No, she already shot Pete in the leg. It's enough time for her to actually shoot and kill Pete. Because even after shooting him in the leg, Pete was still getting the upper hand and threatening to murder everybody cut to the sun is now up. So some time has passed that they've all just been sitting there staring at Pete's body. Dean is out of his coughs and everything. And Linda Blair is telling Sam and Dean that she can clear them of all the stuff that has happened here. Because of all the information that she has now that she'll be able to make all that go away. But as far as the stuff that happened in San Francisco, what it was really the Skinwalker and not Dean, she can't make that go away. She can't help them there. And now the police know that Dean Winchester is not dead that he's still out there. But she still helps them out by saying I can tell them that you escaped that you got away. She tells them where the Impala is impounded and tells them Don't go after it. But we know they are of course. And then the Hello. Music comes in again. And it was cute that as they're walking away Dean asked Sam Hey, didn't that girl look familiar? And Sam's like Oh no. And then Dean says I'm craving pea soup for some reason. That's cute. It was really cute. So in the end I ended up really liking this episode. Yeah, but it was what the back and forth stuff between flashbacks and present day. I didn't like all that. It was choppy. Yeah, other than creepy Daryl Hannah slit throat. There wasn't A lot of Gore in this one note, and it was cool seeing Linda Blair.
LA:Yeah, that was I bet that we're excited to have her
Berly:take us into the lower LA. Okay. Well,
LA:Sam mentioned that creepy Daryl Hannah was a death Omen instead of a vengeful spirit. So I actually skipped over that part.
Berly:So, oh, I explained that he didn't understand why she was pointing out where their body was, but I forgot to explain the death Omen part. My bad. Yeah,
LA:that's what he says. And that's the lower. So people have looked for bad omens and death since the you know, the dawn of time. And it looks different in different cultures, different symbols of mourning, animals, all kinds of different things. Things that foreshadow death, death for you death for your loved one death for somebody under your roof, Ruth. Yeah, my Ruth's. Oh, I'm gonna go down there was this list of 13 which I thought that was kind of funny. Exactly. Shane. Yeah. That's kind of a superstitious thing. But the first one was black butterflies. And this is for Central America and the Philippines. Yeah, I was gonna do like the normal ones, like a black cat crows. And I mean, this one does talk about some of those. But these were interesting that I
Berly:I've never personally heard of, I didn't know that black butterflies even existed. Now.
LA:They do in Central America, in the Philippines. Black butterflies have been seen as a sign of death in a lot of cultures, but we're just talking about them. And it's similar to black moths as well. And if you see a Black Butterfly fly in your house, it can symbolize someone in your home will soon pass or it's or you will have a relationship in sembly. Blackfoot butterflies are a sign of secret wisdom for life's transitions, which would make sense for like the end of the relationship thing. And they believe that butterflies are a reminder that life is always changing. opals, opals, yeah, the gems the gemstone. So in Europe, that it started around the time of the Black Death in Europe. And during that pandemic, it was thought that those who were pearls, were noticing that the gym was changing colors, once it would sparkle until the person died. And then it wouldn't sparkle anymore. But I mean, nowadays, they attribute this to the fact that when you had the Black Plague you had a high fever, so you were hot, and that the stone was so dealt like so delicate that with the heat. It had a higher brilliance, which made it look like its heart was sparkling. Oh, so then of course when they died and they were cold, it looks duller. So it was more of just like a heat temperature thing because they had the fever, like a mood ring, right? Yeah. But I'd never heard that one before. And then when they explained it was like, oh, okay, but like totally see, back in the day, they would have thought that. And then of course, comments. In ancient times, comments in the sky were blamed for just about anything bad that happened to humanity. It was just like the scapegoat for all.
Berly:I imagine you could see them so much more clearly comment Oh, yeah, stars because we didn't have all the light pollution and shed right.
LA:In this article. They said Halley's Comet for example. Halley's Comet only passes Earth every 75 years. And when it passed prior to the Black Death in Europe, it says Black Death Black Plague. I know. It's the same. But anyway, pick one, right? People thought that this was a bad omen and that death was ahead. And well, I mean, it kind of did happen. They weren't wrong. And then they were like, you know, we still look up to the stars to try and explain things but comments are not to blame for it. These days.
Berly:The stars though, I recently found out that my daydreaming and scenarios that I'll make up it's actually called maladaptive daydreaming, and it's a mental illness. Oh, shit. And I thought it's just because I'm a Pisces, oh, we daydream, whatever to oops, great. Another issue. Another thing,
LA:Oh, my God, therapy. Well, number four is dreams. Oh, in our modern society, oh, in our modern society. Some believe that dreams can be a sign of death to come. You might not. Obviously, we don't always remember all of our dreams, but they think that it's part of our subconscious. Dreaming of more than one moon is a sign that bad things are ahead. If you dream you're making your way through muddy water. This could also be assigned the engineer in a study into the meaning behind dreams it was found that omens can be taken in several ways. And it can be from anxiety to like relationship troubles and that's kind of what manifests into your dreams. I mean, not obviously, but make sense? Right? Which I don't have dreams that I'm going through Muddy Waters, but I have dreams where like, my can't move my legs properly. And I've read that that means like, you feel like you're stuck. I was like Oh,
Berly:yeah, I used to have recurring dreams about spiders. Or my teeth. Yeah. Oh, falling out loss
LA:of control. Yeah. wrote about that one. I used to get that a lot too. I hated it. I haven't
Berly:had any recurring dreams anytime, anytime. Recently. Well, that's probably good. I used to get those a lot in my 20s and 30s. Yeah,
LA:same. Okay, number five is three knocks in Ireland, which I would probably scare the shit out of a lot of people because I always knock like three times and I've gotten a cop knock. But yeah, how many
Berly:times are you supposed to knock? Well, I feel like knock three times now.
LA:It's funny, they were like, you want to be careful with how many knocks you hear at your door when you're in Ireland. And three Hard Knocks is said to be a sign of someone just died or is about to die in in your home. So I should not go knocking on doors in Ireland scare the shit out of people. And it's also in Scotland, the three knocks have to occur within a few minutes apart. Most unexpected knots knocks on the door do indicate bad news just in general. I hope they have doorbells or six or mirrors which way I mean mirrors in Europe this specifically. And we all know the myth of you know, broken mirror seven years bad luck. But in European cultures, it's more of a sign of death. In the days before mirrors were common people looked until the water to see the reflections. And the reflection was thought to be like a portal to the soul. And if the reflection was murky, which sure a lot of water was this was a sign that something wasn't right. It still continues on to today. And a lot of people don't like a lot of them don't like to look in the mirrors. They're hesitant to and especially most especially after a death occurs. Back in the day in Europe after someone died. They would cover the mirrors with sheets and stuff. I was
Berly:about to ask is that house Shiva? Isn't that what it's called? Yeah. Don't they cover the mirrors during Shiva? Oh,
LA:I don't know. Do they think they do? And maybe I'm sure it's probably I'm not
Berly:sure I'm sort of so I could be I could be wrong, but I know that I'm saying I know. I think that the Jewish cover the mirror Stern show?
LA:Okay. I'm sure there's probably something something to it seven. It's will o the wisps in Scott, Scotland, with like Willow, wisps. Willow, the wisps will the West. Yeah. Okay. And it was like, if you ever notice a mysterious bulb of light following you around, oh, this is probably a reason to be alarmed. Which Yeah. And so they're, I guess in Scotland, aliens. And Scotland, they call them Willa wisps. And they've also been called corpse candles. And they're mysterious orbs of light. They, they come in different colors there. But they often appear to follow you around. And it's believed that these are death omens. That's someone's following you around so that when the time comes, they can collect your soul.
Berly:You said this is common that they have orbs of light following though I guess. I don't think
LA:I said it was common. I might have just misheard
Berly:or I might have made it up in my head. I do that sometimes.
LA:Scientists came up with something different, a little different from that idea. And they said that these orbs LARPs. light orbs are thought to be glowing balls of gas from marshes or lakes. And that's why they're often seen when you're overwater. But this legend goes back hundreds of years in Scotland. So I don't know, interesting to guess is going on, apparently. Number eight is falling portraits, which happens in a lot of cultures, you know, photos hanging on the wall of your loved ones. And if one of them falls, it means that person's gonna bite it soon. Well, and it's also it's for whoever's in the photo. And even if it's a group of people, it says like they're all They're all Biden it, I guess, Dale, and then these are some of the more common ones, black cats in Western society. And this can be traced back to superstitions in ancient Greece. Oh, and according to mythology, Zeus, his wife, Hera, turned her servant into a black cat as a punishment, and he went on to become the assistant for heck, her Kate Hickety pickety, the goddess of witchcraft, his association with witches and evil black cats are still seen as a sign of bad luck or death these days. Crows again, in Western culture, a large group of five or more crows is said to be a sign of death or illness. Spotting a single crow is a bad omen on its own, and you'll want to Be especially mindful of large groups.
Berly:If you spot multiple crows, it's a murder.
LA:And this is all according to the depiction and literature crows and ravens are are often thought to be associated with witches and other bringers of darkness, giving them this wicked connotation.
Berly:I will say this whenever you pull up to a stoplight, or you're going to anything where there's like a awning or a sign or light lamps, light posts, whatever. And there's a shitload of black birds there for some reason. Oh, yeah, it does feel very ominous. Yeah. And I've always thought it's some sort of subconscious thing that I'm doing with the movie The bird or something. But I've never seen the birds. You know, you gotta see it. Why does it feel so ominous when you pull up to a stoplight? And there's just a shitload of birds there because you're not used to seeing it. It's very, it just feels very eerie. Yeah.
LA:Well, you remember that one? St. Patrick's Day, we were walking to the parade, and we saw a bird. And then just like five minutes later, I got hit by a car. No, yeah, we were when we were walking out there. There was like a dead bird on our on our path.
Berly:I remember you getting hit by the car, but I didn't remember it was dirt.
LA:It wasn't a dead crow or anything. It was just a little bird. Yeah, I remember that. Yeah. should have paid more attention.
Berly:Should have known something was coming.
LA:Okay, we just have three more in white horses in England and the Czech Republic, which I white horses are beautiful creatures.
Berly:Death wrote a pale horse.
LA:Well, that's they said the Bringers a single white horse and your stables a sign of good luck ahead. But spotting one out like a wild horse. Yeah. Isn't it says isn't something you want to look forward to? That if you see two white horses pulling a hearse, this means death might occur in the town within a single month, which, I mean, that seems odd. I'm sure that happened a lot. If you dream of a single white horse, this is supposed to be bad news coming your way. And the pagan deities were once depicted as riding white horses, making them heavenly. And today, horses are a sign that your time might be up. I don't want to believe that. I love horses. 12 is fans and Korea fans. So in Korea, they thought they think that sleeping with a fan running and your windows closed causes imminent death. And I did go when I was looking for a house to rent. There was one guy that I went to look at the house and they had no ceiling fans. Hello, we're in Texas, right and he mentioned that it was due to his wife that she like in her culture. They believed that it didn't work with Fung Shui. Oh, to have the fans in the in the rooms, which I'm like, I guess
Berly:probably is due to this somehow related to Yeah,
LA:but the electric fans were invented in the 1920s. And it was a common fear in Korea. They felt like a lot of the deaths had been linked to electric fans at night, but the death was most likely caused by hypothermia, hyperthermia, heat stress, or underlying health problems. 13 is Dalberg doppelgangers in Germany. Oh, yeah, the word doc. Oh, you had one. I had one. Yeah, you're still here.
Berly:Luckily, I'm still here. I'm still kicking. It's been at least it's been roughly 10 years and I'm still cooking.
LA:Yeah, you're good. The word doppelganger means double goer in German. And we as we know it's like someone's exact replica. But born to different parents. If you spot your dog doppelganger out about this is a sign that your death was soon to come in German culture. And the same was true if a friend or family member saw your doppelganger. They've also been referred to as evil twins and folklore. If you speak to your own evil twin, they'll try to trick you with sinister thoughts. They'll put bad ideas in your head and cause which cause your demise. Just like Andy
Berly:bright Yeah, and Simon said, Yeah,
LA:but yeah, so those that's a list of 13 Omen death omens. I didn't know a lot of these mean either. So I thought that was kind of cool. I've heard of death
Berly:omens. But if you asked me, name one, I don't know that I would have been able to do it. I would have.
LA:I would have known I would have said black cat crossing your path.
Berly:I knew black cats were bad luck, but I didn't know it was death. Ellman
LA:man I think it is bad luck. But I mean, death is pretty bad luck. I mean, it's the worst. It's the worst. So that is it for the lower on death omens.
Berly:So to close it out. We have a quote from when Sam and Dean were sitting at the cafe and decided to go investigate the murder of Tony Giles.
LA:Dean says to Sam so scaly.
Berly:What do you think? Sam says, I'm not scolding, you're scaly?
LA:And he says nah, I'm older. You're a redheaded woman.
Berly:Cheers. Thank you for listening to denim wrapped nightmares.
LA:Follow us on Twitter or Instagram. leave a review and let us know how we can get involved in the fandom.
