Berly:

Welcome to denim wrapped nightmares tipsy exchange Podcast where we explore the supernatural series episode by episode.

LA:

over drinks, we'll discuss the lore of gore and what we adore about the Winchesters and their adventures.

Berly:

I'm burly, and I'm a new fan of the series.

LA:

I'm LA, and I'm here along for the ride. Now let's get tipsy.

Berly:

La La Hello

LA:

Burly. The previous episode to this one today was called

Berly:

Sympathy for the Devil,

LA:

and picked up right where the finale left off. Dean and Sam watch as the devil emerges from how the brothers and Bobby deal with the aftermath of Lucifer rising. And the stunning news from Chuck the prophet that Castile was blown a bit by the Archangels.

Berly:

But he came back. He came back I think he's back for good. Today's episode is called Good God, y'all. And is the second episode of season five. It originally aired on September 17 2009. We open up in the hospital and Bobby is still were wheelchair bound. And he is not happy. Yeah. In fact, it's revealed that he apparently hasn't spoken in days, Sam and Dean are looking on to him kind of talked about like, Oh, what are we gonna do? We don't know. And he's like, Hey, I went and got an x ray done and pulls out an x ray show Sam. All the carvings that Cass had put on their ribcage in the last episode. So these were a Nokian sigils that Cassiel carved into their ribs, and it makes them untrackable untraceable by any angel looting Lucifer.

LA:

I was thinking it was just Dean, but I forgot it was both of them. No,

Berly:

it's both of them. Yeah. As they're looking at the little X ray and reminiscing about their little moment with Castile touching them, branding them, branding them, marking them. Sam's phone rings. It's Castiel. And he's asking them where they are. So Sam tells them and whenever he shows up, they're like, really casts a cellphone. Really, he's like, Hey, assholes. I told you. That marking hides you from all angels. That includes me, so I can't find you any other way. Now. Work with me here. Over? Yeah, come on. While they're having their little Tete a Tete whatever you want to call it. Bobby says, Hey, forget the foreplay. Get in here, lay your hands on me casts get to heal in and cast is just like, Bobby. So sorry. I've been cut off from heaven. I can do some stuff. But some stuff I can't do not that that apparently one of the things cast can't do is heal Bobby, which is my theory that Zachariah is who made sure Bobby ended up in the wheelchair is correct. That kind of makes sense that Cass would be blocked from him. But that's not explicitly said in any way, shape or form. So that's just my headcanon that Zachariah and heaven are keeping cats from healing Bobby, that's the punishment for Dean say no, to being Michael's shaft sword. Okay. Michael sword. So they're talking, and they're trying to think, okay, what are we going to do? Bobby? Even more upset than before?

LA:

I mean, yeah,

Berly:

rightfully so. Yeah. Clearly, he was waiting on casts to come heal him. And now that plan is ruined. Speaking of plans, cast says, okay, you know what, like, you're planning to kill Lucifer. It's stupid. That's not what we should do. My plans better and we should do my plan. I plan to find God, because that's clearly who brought me back from the dead after I got exploded by the archangel, and that's clearly who swept you up out of the church convent thing. When Lucifer was breaking out of his cage. He obviously wants to help. So let's go find him and recruit him and get him to help us even more.

LA:

Let's recruit god.

Berly:

Yeah. That's cassis plan. Okay. And Dean is just like, You know what, CASS I think your plan is stupid. You're gonna go, if God is here, if he's around, he doesn't care. Because like shits going down, and if he wanted to help, he would be and Cass is just like, Listen. Okay. I fell for you. Hard.

LA:

I don't think that's what he said.

Berly:

I got way downtown. And I've gotten nothing out of this. Okay. You too fucked up. You too. kicked off the apocalypse. You couldn't stop your brother. And Sam. You just were sucking demon blood the whole time like this. Y'all did this. You soaked me You fucked me. You fucked me over. Okay, so you Keep your fucking opinion to yourself you little shit. And then Bobby says, Hey, guys, calm down. All right, we need to flirt it out. Yeah, I thought I said stop the foreplay. I meant that all around Okay. CASS You obviously didn't come here to just turn us on and yell at us and go all DOM all over the place. What do you want? You obviously want something and cassis like I do want something I need an amulet

LA:

it's a very sexual beginning of your this explanation I don't I'm not complaining.

Berly:

And Bobby's just like I don't have an amulet to give you and you would didn't lay your hands on me. So I don't know that I would want to help you anyway, and cascos, not you. And he looks at dean of course in his eyes. And then he looks him up and down. Like I flex them. Yeah. Up and down, up and down slowly, like this look, has he's got injury. Pamela's look when we first met her and she looked Dean up and down. It's got nothing on this. Just like not you, Bobby. You, Dean. You. And then he like looks at that chunky ass fucker thing that's been hanging from Dean's neck since season one.

LA:

So here we're talking about Dean when you said that at first.

Berly:

He's like, may I borrow it, please? And Dean goes, No. And then Cass says Give it to me teen. And we chuckled. And we had to hit pause because we were giggling

LA:

I mean, it was just the waves looking at him and then just say that after that, it's like, oh,

Berly:

Dean, give it to me. Give it to me teen and then dean. Well, after that kid without Yeah, after that, Dean of course agrees. You know, when Cass asked politely. It was immediately No, true. Yeah, no. And then when Cass like turned on his DOM voice on what? Give it to me, okay. Yes, sir. So Dean takes off his amulet and gives it to cast and like Elijah said, he's like, No, I feel naked. And vulnerable. Oh, so cast takes off. He's like, cool. This thing glows hot in the presence of God. So I'm gonna use it to go track him down. So I'm just like, What are you? Are you just going to fly around everywhere? And if it gets hot, stop. Yeah, like check it out. Like scope out the place.

LA:

What is it? When you're like, you're getting very hot. You're getting hot. Nope, you're getting cold. What does?

Berly:

Is it hot or cold? I

LA:

guess I can't remember.

Berly:

I was thinking Marco Polo at first. Yeah, it's kind of kind of the same thing but not really.

LA:

But yeah, that's I guess that's the plan. But also I was thinking I would like a little more explanation on this amulet. Deeds mourn at the whole time. We don't really know anything about it. We know

Berly:

Bobby had it and that Sam picked it out from Bobby's house to give to them, but we don't know why Bobby had it. So like

LA:

what is it Why Why does it get hot for God?

Berly:

Don't we all

LA:

but yeah, I'm just saying I hope we get to you want

Berly:

to fuck a priest or do you want to fuck God? But line from fleabag Oh my god. Can you fuck god? Oh, yes.

LA:

Oh, that makes me want to watch it again.

Berly:

Well, Dean is like, don't lose it. And Casio says I won't. And he flutters away. Oh, I forgot. We got a new supernatural. The supernatural

LA:

had like a little heartbeat or something. Yeah.

Berly:

Was it a heartbeat? Or was it just throbbing?

Unknown:

What is this turning into?

Berly:

What's the saying about love and war? There's a thin line between love and war or something like that. So after Cass is like, Okay, peace out. I'm gonna go find God. I'm gonna go get hot for God. Bobby's phone rings, and it's Rufus. And we see Rufus and he's like shooting and hiding behind a car and he's talking. It looks like Rufus was talking on a walkie talkie. So how did he call Bobby cell phone from that thing? Was that I didn't notice I thought it looked like a walkie talkie. But I don't know what equipment maybe you can call.

LA:

I was just so I was like man, Rufus is in a bad situation. What's going on down wars going on in this town? He's pulling like a guy over shot in the leg doing a tourniquet

Berly:

yeah, there's a lot going on in Rufus is little corner of the universe. shits going down. Yeah, he's like Bobby, I need help. Demons everywhere. All over the town. Bobby's just like where are you? And even though it's cutting in and out because you know he's talking on a walkie talkie, he's able to get out there in river pass Colorado. Well, Bobby's not, you know, leaving the hospital anytime soon, unfortunately. So Sam and Dean take the call to go help Rufus in this little town as they're driving in, they pull up to I don't know if it's the only bridge that goes in and out of town but must have been because it's a very small town celebrating pioneer days Savin their 75th anniversary Main Street was just like mom and pop shops, so it was a really small town. So if it's not the only bridge it was certainly the main bridge and it's blown to shit Yeah, so they have the whole middle just gone down. Yeah, I mean, it's fucked up. So Sam and Dean are just like oh shit. Yes, we're hiking the rest of the way. As they're hiking into town spirit in the sky is playing great song fucking soundtrack to this whole show. Man. I love it. It really is great. So good. I was all bangers I love it. Love it. Love it. So good. What got back giggle going bangers? Is that what you call like a good song? Like is a bad? Did I make that up? No, I don't feel like I made that. No, I

LA:

think you're right. But just you know,

Berly:

you're thinking about sex again.

LA:

I mean, you gotta you gotta go in pretty much

Berly:

so speaking of the song, I also liked the transition from the song being played over Yeah, to them walking up to that one car and it transitioning to the song is coming from the car, right? That was smooth as fuck, because

LA:

there's abandoned cars like everywhere. flipped over. It's just like a ghost town. But the cars are still there. Yeah. And

Berly:

a lot of cars that either looked like they had been abandoned. Like people fucking jumped ship, or Yeah, like you said they're flipped over Fox smoking.

LA:

But this one was still on and jamman Yeah.

Berly:

They cut that off. And then there was that cherry red Mustang. And I should have known I should we both should have known that it stuck out like a sore thumb. But both of us just went

LA:

Damn, that's a nice car. Yeah, well, anyway, like you knew Dean was gonna be like, he was gonna be I fucking the shit out of that car.

Berly:

I was like you castI hell. It was real cute. But it didn't click in my head that one of these things is not like the other. Right. And in hindsight, it should have

LA:

oh, yeah, yeah. 100% It was like Oldsmobiles like Owens and everything that were flipped over. And

Berly:

oh, Cadillac. Yeah. It was definitely like, not like the rest. And upright and pristine. Oh, yeah. So it kind of, I kind of want to slap my wrist right that we didn't pick up on that same. So as they're like checking the town out, all of a sudden, you're like a gut and get cocked. And it's Ellen, and Ellen's looking good. Ellen looks great.

LA:

She looks great. She looks better than she did before.

Berly:

Her hand was shaking when she was holding the gun. And I don't know if that was a purposeful choice of the actress. Because shits been going down and she's freaked out because she lost Joe. Or if like her blood sugar was low, and they needed to give her a Snickers bar or something.

LA:

Or maybe was like, Oh, she's like, Oh my god, I haven't seen these boys in forever. But they're demons, and I'm going to have to kill them.

Berly:

She splashes water in their face and holds the gun up again. And they're just like, What the fuck Ellen? Like it's us. And she's still acting very coldly told them at first, she takes them to like their little headquarters and inside the doorway to the headquarters. There's a salt line at the door and the devil's trap. And as soon as Sam and Dean get past the devil's trap, she's just like, oh my god,

LA:

I fucking missed you boys like goes down really fast. She

Berly:

gets really warm again, like the Ellen that we saw back in season two. It was really sweet. And it was a good transition and good on her. Yeah, she did well, so she hugs Dean first because they're in a narrow space. So Dean is right in front of her and Sam is kind of behind dean. And then she slaps the shit out of Dean's

LA:

because like the sweetness was real short. It was nice and sweet but short lived.

Berly:

smacks the shit out of him. And Sam kind of smirks and she's just like, I have to fucking hear from Rufus that the two of you aren't dead. Like I thought y'all were dead. And at first I was trying to think like, why would she think they were dead? And then I remembered that Dean died and came back to life. Sam died and came back to life. And well, I mean, Elon knew that Sam had come back to life, but then also that Hinrichsen killed them. Also, like, you know, like, I'm doing air quotes for those of you who can't see Henriksen killed them. So they were dead then. And I'm like, why are you getting mad at Dean? Why didn't Bobby tell you like I thought you were friends with Bobby.

LA:

That's true. But also I think she mentioned like just like not keeping in touch. Yeah, she

Berly:

did. Like that's,

LA:

I think that was the main thing like nice guys. We've been through some shit let me know your life

Berly:

and I love the as she was bitch Dang she like glances over like sharp looks at Sam and Sam smile just fades immediately like he's no longer entertained.

LA:

It was like it got sloppy enjoy Dean getting reprimanded, but then when she like directed at him, he's like,

Berly:

oh shit. It was really cute. And it kind of solidified for me Sam, he's back. He's still struggling. But it Sammy again it come on.

LA:

I need him to. We'll talk more at the end you need to take his

Berly:

clothes off. Always.

LA:

That's a given.

Berly:

Alan takes them down into this room and introduces them to the people that are similar. Yeah, that aren't that have been, you know, that they don't believe are possessed. And she explains that, you know, they came here to help Rufus Rufus had put out a call to hunters in the area and Ellen and Joe happened to be nearby. So Ellen and Joe are hunting together now. We find out later that Ellen still doesn't want Joe hunting she still doesn't think that Joe should be doing this but she's gonna do it anyway. And so Alan's like, I may as well be her partner so I can have her back and keep an eye on her if she's gonna keep doing it anyways.

LA:

Yeah, it makes sense. Yeah. Well wonder what the lay obviously don't have the bat signal for the hunters like are they on a group chat?

Berly:

Like Rufus Magic, magic, walkie talkie? How's it gonna? Have everybody has magic walkie talkie this was like it was in the area.

LA:

I've been nowadays they've got a couple. Guys, I'm here, come meet me need some help?

Berly:

So there's a marine that there's a pregnant chick. There's this guy named Roger who says his wife's eyes went black. And she came after him with a brick. It's civilians. For the most part. Oh, there's a priest in front of a priest. So aside from the army guy, it's like, Ellen, Sam and Dean. That's it. That's all they've really got. Oh, yeah. Otherwise, it's people they're going to have to protect, try to train to protect themselves. Not a great situation going on here. And they've said, you know, we've tried to get out of town, but they couldn't. Because this other group of people that's all possessed by demons keeps attacking them and that they their group has, you know, shrank in size used to be double the size that it was, but people have gotten killed. So things are fucked. In this little town. Ellen also informed Sam and Dean that they got Joe, they were out hunting together, and all of a sudden Joe was gone. So Sam and Dean decide that they're gonna go back out and they're gonna get some supplies. There's like a hardware store. Surely, there's guns there. rocksalt they're gonna go get everything that they need. As they're walking toward the door, Dean, I'll give him this. He waited until they were on the other side of the door. He didn't say this stuff in front of this group of people in front of Elon. But as soon as they get on the other side of the door, Dean is like, you know, why don't why don't I just go by myself. And you stay here and start teaching these people how to use guns and stuff? Because they don't know shit. Sounds like Elon can do that. No, it's fine. Let's go. And he's like, I really think maybe you should stay here. Sam. You're gonna carry all these supplies all this shit by yourself. And you're gonna try and go find Rufus and Joe by yourself while you're carrying all this stuff around. It doesn't make sense. Dean, like, what do you what are you getting upset about? It comes to light that Dean is worried about Sam, being in a town full of nothing but demons. You know, he's not completely convinced that Sam is past his little problem that we had throughout season four. It doesn't take long before we find out that Dean's concerns are valid. So after Sam kind of pitches out, I'm like, you know, fuck you. I'm fine. Yeah, let's go. We're going to do the job. Focus on jobs do the job. They go to this little quickie Mart. Sam is in there by himself because he stormed off. So Dean is still outside somewhere, I guess. Or maybe Dean went to the hardware store while Sam went to the Kwik e Mart. But Sam's by himself and the Kwik e Mart is the point. And he's loading up a bag with salt and rocksalt and all these other things. And then these two kids come in, they say teenagers. I didn't think they both looked like teenagers. Yeah, they're looked a little older than that, but, but they're described as teenagers. So we'll run with it. I've seen teenagers that don't look like teenagers, whatever true. And it shows very clearly that these two teenagers eyes are black, multiple chances. We see they are black, and they end up running into SAM. He doesn't get his gun soon enough. There's a fight. He goes for the magic demon knife. And he stabbed the first guy and we noticed right away the blinking white thing didn't happen when he stabbed the first guy.

LA:

I know. I was like, oh, it's not the knife. Yeah, that's what we thought. Yeah,

Berly:

we were like so it must not be the magic knife. Dean must have the magic knife and he's just using regular one or something. But then He goes and stabs the other guy right through the neck man. And then he pulls the knife out and we can see the carvings on the blade. And we're like, Oh, that is the magic knife. What the fuck is happening? Yeah, I guess Sam didn't notice that. They didn't do the flashy thing.

LA:

He was too. He was a little too distracted man and blood. Yeah. So

Berly:

he's looking down at their bodies, and he's seeing the pools of blood coming out. And I went, Oh, my God, he's gonna look it up.

LA:

That was your first thought I was like,

Berly:

I thought he was gonna drop to the floor and suck it up off the ground. I mean, because just the way he was looking at it. And then when he didn't, I was like, oh, no, he's figuring out they're human. But then no, he looked at the blade, the knife that had blood on it, and like swiped it with this thumb. And then was kind of hungry Lee looking at his thumb, and I was like, oh, okay, so he's not gonna suck the puddle off the floor. He's gonna suck it off his thumb. He's gonna go to the

LA:

taste.

Berly:

But Dean walks in and distracts them. And so he snaps out of it. So yeah, DNS concerns valid warranted. They go back to the HQ, so to speak, start getting everybody loading up learning how to do this shit. Sam and Ellen decide they're going to go try to find Joe and Rufus now. So they've dropped off the supplies. Dean is working with people. And while they're out, they see a house. And there's smoke coming from the chimney, which I immediately called. That's mighty convenient. That's a trap. Literally only one house with smoke coming out of the chimney. So they go to the house. Sam is looking around the window him and Ellen and they see somebody in the window with black eyes. Like okay, I guess we found their HQ. And Sam says, Yeah, but demons don't get cold. So what are they burning? Rufus? And Joe attacked Sam and Elon. They're beating them up. Joe gets Elon up against the wall and says give me my mother back, you black eyed bitch. And Elon is just like what the

LA:

fuck? I was too. I was like, Wait a minute. Yeah, it doesn't make sense.

Berly:

We're seeing things from Ellen's perspective. And Joe's eyes are black. So for her to call L and a black eyed bitch and be like, give me my mother back up. Yeah, something's not matching up here. But Rufus knocks the fucking shit out of Sammy. Take get Sammy and Sam right before he gets knocked unconscious. He yells at Elon, you know, run run. So Elon gets away but Sam gets captured. And surprise surprise. We get a Winchester tied up. It's been a minute. I think it's been all of two episodes. We've seen a Winchester tied up pretty much. Ellen and Rufus have Sam and they're pouring holy water on him and putting salt in his mouth. And through fist is saying exorcisms.

LA:

Joe is like, throwing that water in the face. Oh, holy

Berly:

bat.

LA:

What it was weird, because, like, we're seeing it from Sam's perspective where they have the black eyes. But Joe's face looked confused. Right. So I thought that was interesting. Because like that, what we learned why but like, you know, something's fucked up. That's

Berly:

not how it normally is when we see those black eyes, you know? And we hear Joe and Rufus being like, it's not working. Yeah. Isn't it working? We don't understand. It's just like, What the fuck is happening? Ellen gets back to their HQ and tells Dean what Joe said she's just like, it doesn't make sense. Something's not right. And he says it hasn't been rate. Since we've been here like not none of this shit is adding up. Something's weird. So he starts asking all of their little survivors you know, okay, tell me about what happened before this shit went down. What what was going on? They're like, well, the river got really fucking polluted the day before the demon stuff happened. He was like, what else? And the marine was like, Well, I mean, it's gonna be fucking random. But there was a shooting star a really bright shooting star like one. Yeah. Then the night before as well. So Dean goes and gets the Bible. I don't remember exactly what it was. I didn't write it down. But there's a little thing in the Bible. It's just like, Oh my god. A star comes down and the river gets dirty. And Apocalypse time revelations, your revelations,

LA:

sometimes.

Berly:

The priest is just like, holy shit. It's the apocalypse. And they're like, yeah, yeah, it is. There was one point. Dean's like,

LA:

sorry about that guy.

Berly:

Sorry. I'm not gonna tell anybody because I still haven't told a single soul. No one knows my fault but It's me, I did it. I started this. And at one point he's helping, he's like asking the marine like, Do you know how to handle that gun? And the Marines? Like, watch me, watch me pull this and do this. Listen to did it. And Dan's just like, oh, wow, I'm really impressed. That was really nice. Where did you serve? And he was like, I served in Fallujah, two tours. Where did you serve? Dean's like hell? And the marine goes, real funny. Where do you really serve? dinos? No, like, I'm fucking serious. I served in Hill. And that was the end of the conversation. There was no follow up questions. I would have had a lot of follow up questions.

LA:

I feel like I would have had a lot of follow up questions or I would have been just like, okay, cool guy. I'll see you later.

Berly:

So poor Sammy is still getting all this stuff poured down his throat.

LA:

He's got soft. Oh.

Berly:

He's just like, oh, Rufus. It's me. Please stop. And reverse is like no, fuck you and still trying to exercise the demon is that when we finally see it from there? And so then all of a sudden, his eyes have gotten normal and they're starting to be like, Okay, what's happening? What's happening? And then that fucker Roger peeks around the corner and is like, hey, and we were like, What the fuck is he doing here? What a creeper. How did you how did you leave the other group and they didn't notice. I don't know. He like holds up his finger and is twisting his ring. As he does that. Same his eyes go black and everything like kicks into overdrive again. And it's just like, oh my god, this fucker. He's the one who's doing it.

LA:

Like literally no one's possessed.

Berly:

This guy's just making people think they are. This is Sam's just like, fuck, as he gets more salt and shit for now. In the meantime, Dean has figured out its war. I saw cherry red messing. This was happening. I got this four horsemen wars here wrote in on that red horse. I mean, he connected those dots. Really quick. Him and Ellen decide. Okay, we need to go find Rufus and Joe again, and snap some sense into them get them to realize what's going on. But before they have a chance to do that, Roger shows up back at their HQ and she's like, Oh my god, guys. It's on wars happening. Demons. It's bad. We got to go kill everybody. And they're just like, What the fuck are you talking about? Where did you come from? Where did you go? Where did you come from cotton eyed Joe

LA:

loves good

Berly:

and Roger says oh my god. I don't know but I'm telling you demons devil bad we got to go murder everybody. And all of the townspeople are just like yeah, let's go murder everybody. We got to go kill everyone. So the pregnant chick is like changing out for real bullets. Everybody's like Liao just murder. There's knives in the kitchen. Let's go. Elon and Dean are just like, No, that's not what's happening. There aren't any demons and then war like winks at Dean like, hey, they're sexy. holds up his finger just like finger like, let me turn my turn my ring finger at you, fingering you dean. And Dean is just like, What the fuck is happening? And then Roger jumps back and is like, look, they're demons too. So now Dean and Ellen's eyes look blocked to everybody in the room. They start shooting at them with their real bullets. So Elon and Dean are both just like, oh, fuck, and get the hell out of dodge. They go find Rufus and Joe. And they have a little bit of a tussle. But they're able to talk to them and be like, nobody is possessed. you're hallucinating. It's war. It's the horsemen Rufus almost kicked Dean's. And I loved that for him. And then they finally are like, okay, and once they start to listen to them, the hallucination fades away. So they're all on the same page. Now they're like, Okay, great. We got to figure out how to get this war guy now and they let say amico

LA:

should have kept that up for a little bit, you know, he needs he's got a long ways to go. Hey, he

Berly:

admits it. Marine guy has decided like with war by his side that yeah, like, we're not just going to try and get these people out of town safely anymore. We're gonna go kill these fuckers. So they all go to the house with the chimney and they are guns ablaze, shooting through the windows. At first, Rufus and Joe's team are also shooting through the windows and Rufus is trying to yell like ceasefire ceasefire, but it's war man. People are getting really like blood lusty, and they're just like, hey, I and the poor priests get shot. We'd never really found out if he lived or died. I mean, it looked like it was like straight through the heart. It looks like it was pretty fucking bad. So the priest gets shot, Ellen goes running outside. And one of the people from the other team was like, and Ellen's like I'm not who you think you are just like put your pressure on here and is obviously trying to help the priest. So the chick is like, okay, cool. I'm gonna listen to you and I'm gonna do what you say. But then marine dude comes over just like black guys. And like, tries to shoot Elon and that doesn't work. They just try to stab Elon and Rufus finally goes and stops like Mr. Mr. Freakin sharpshooter, up on the sixth floor like no stop. So things are starting to calm down. But like marine dude is totally about to kill Ellen and her face. She looked good. She still looked good. Her rap looked good. Ellen looked great.

LA:

When he hurt like first shoved her to the ground. Her hair just like went back. Yeah, perfectly. I was like, goodness. What's that?

Berly:

Fuck. Yeah. You look amazing, bitch. She looked so bad. Oh, wait, we said we're not going to use bitch so much. We've been using it more. She has a bad influence on us. In so many ways that it cuts to Roger. Just like giddily skipping. Like, he I'm so mischievious to his red cherry Mustang. But Sam and Dean knew that's where he was gonna go. So they were waiting for him there so they catch him. And Sam pulls out the knife and was just like, you can't fucking kill me. I'm war. What do you get to do the same as just like, Yeah, okay, I'm just gonna take your fucking finger that you've been taunting us with all episode and slices it off. And they get his ring? Like a few fingers. Yeah, we got a little bit of a blood split. Yeah, with this. Good squirt it it was it was minimal blood splooge. But bloods BlueJ nonetheless. So war gave us our 22nd Blood splooge of this supernatural series. It's been a while we haven't had a blood splurge since season four episode 17. It's a terrible life. Oh, wow. It's been a while.

LA:

Really? No. Yeah, right.

Berly:

I mean, it well as we've missed some, which we very well may. After they chop off his finger and get his ring war, and the cherry investing just disappear. Don't know what happened there. And everybody all of a sudden gets their senses about them. And they stopped biting. So the town's been saved. Aside from all the people who had already been murdered. Those people are going to need therapy. Yeah. I mean, the poor kid who shot the priest would just like look distraught. Yeah, after war, got his finger cut off. Anyway, Sam and Dean are like, okay, you know what we need to do? Picnic. So they go to a picnic table and have a little picnic. And Sam finally admits, you know what? Your right war was taunting me, and telling me that I still want power that I still want to be more powerful than everybody and he wasn't wrong, necessarily. I'm not in a good headspace. And I shouldn't be hunting right now. So I think we should split up and go our own way. And Dane goes, Yeah, I agree with Fleetwood Mac, you should go your own way. And so Sam goes, Okay, cool. And he gets up. And he goes and gets his bags out of the Impala and he jumps into a truck with a stranger and leaves no conversation about like what Sam's gonna do. Where Sam's gonna go. If they're going to touch base with each other on a weekly basis, like nothing.

LA:

Not even a hug. Goodbye.

Berly:

Yeah, I will say I know we did offer him the Impala. That shot that was very that was very sweet. It was like Do you want the Impala so there was that which is probably the closest thing to I love you and I want you to be okay that Dean can do true. So there was that? But Sam declined. I was like no, I'm gonna go jump in that stranger's truck instead. Smart. It was written by Sarah gamble and directed by Phil so Grecia. What are your thoughts on this episode?

LA:

I didn't love it. I didn't hate it.

Berly:

It was just okay. Yeah, yeah, it was just okay, we got our first horseman which makes me think we're gonna get the other three throughout this season, but that's going to be the overarching thing.

LA:

Oh, I didn't like the the confusion of like, what's going on? Like, trying to figure that out? Like in those little moments, but that that was good, but you know, not that.

Berly:

It was okay. It was just okay. Gore was a lot of war. No, I mean, the glorious thing was probably Sam killing the two teenagers and that little quickie mark that Yeah. And the finger at the end, but even the finger you didn't see a whole lot. We just kind of saw the blood splurge. Yeah, so not not a very gory episode. But yeah, I agree with you. As far as a door goes. I adored the confusion, the different perspectives kind of thing and then having to figure it out. Yeah, that was pretty interesting. I didn't know what was happening in this episode. Have you? It definitely took me a while to figure out what was going on. What did you adore?

LA:

I was happy to see Rufus and Ellen and Joe again.

Berly:

Yes. Yeah, that was exciting. I had given up on Elon and Joe, you said that. Yeah, I've been like, since you know, season two, like where's Elon and Joe, where's Elon? And Joe was all in and Joe and I just kind of gave up on it. So I was I think, maybe maybe there was a Joe episode in Season Three. Actually, that sounds right. I feel like the last episode we saw her in was born under a bad sign. And at the end of that episode is whenever Dean was like, I'll call you and she's like, No, you won't. So I totally thought like, Okay, that's it. We're just not gonna get any more Joe and Ellen. I'm giving up on it. It's been how many episodes and we haven't seen them. So I agree. I was really happy to see Ellen and Joe and get more Rufus to Yeah, what about the Civil War?

LA:

We're, since it's gearing up that we're gonna get the four horsemen of the apocalypse. We'll talk about this one that was in this episode war. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are figures in the book of Revelation in the New Testament of the Bible, a piece of Apocalypse literature written by John of Patmos. They are not specifically identified there, but subsequent commentary often identifies them as personifications of death, famine, war and conquest. Revelation six tells of a book or scroll in God's right hand that is sealed with seven seals. The Lamb of God slash Lion of Judah, opens the first four of the seven seals which summons for beings that ride out on white, red, black and pale horses. And John's Revelation, the first horseman rides a white horse carries a bow and is given a crown as a figure of conquest, perhaps invoking pestilence or the Antichrist. The second carries a sword and sword not sward and rides a red horse as the creator of war, conflict and strife. The third of food merchant rides a black horse symbolizing famine and carries the scales. The fourth and final horses pale upon it rides death, accompanied by Hades, they were given authority over a quarter of the earth to kill with sword, famine, and plague and by means of the beasts of the earth. Christianity sometimes interprets the Four Horsemen as a vision of harbingers of the Last Judgement, setting a divine and time upon the world. So the writer of the second horses is war. He's often pictured holding a sword upwards, like a sword ready for battle or mass slaughter, his horses colors red, and in some translations, the color is specifically a fiery red. The color red as well as the writers possession of a great sword suggest that blood is to be spelt, as seen in Harold Harold Harold, heraldry. I don't know. heraldry. Yeah, as seen in heraldry, the sword held upward by the second horseman may represent war or a declaration of war.

Berly:

So it's a sword not a finger Correct.

LA:

little confusing, and military symbolism swords held up word especially crosswords held up words signify war and entering into battle. For example, the historical and modern images of the coat of arms of Joan of Arc. The second horseman represents Civil War, as opposed to the war of conquest that the first horseman is said to bring. Other commentators have suggested that it might also represent the persecution of Christians. And then there's this quote from the Bible, Revelations six, five through six, when he broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying come, and another a red horse went out. And to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another and a great sword was given to him. Well, wait. Oh, I have to say one other quote really fast that I really liked that we we didn't talk about. Oh, go for it when Roger war was

Berly:

he did good. He was that actor.

LA:

He's in that show? Bosch? Ah, yeah. He's been on a bunch of stuff. I like it

Berly:

for just an okay episode, and he wasn't in it very much at all. Titus well of her. It's very menacing.

LA:

Yeah, he did a good job. Okay, what's your quote? But yeah, when he was taunting Sam when he was tied up, and he was trying to explain who he is. He's like, come on, you know and, and then he said, he's, he said, I'm the jello shots at a party. He's like, uh, you know, I I removed the

Berly:

inhibitions. His little Monica that little monologue was good.

LA:

Like I feel like I want that to be like my my logo now. Or like my

Berly:

T shirt like I'm the jello shot of the of this party. Come

LA:

Me jello shots.

Berly:

Anyway, though, that was when he was like saying you want it. You want the power? Oh, yeah. I was just like I knew it. I knew it. And I've been saying it for a while. Sammy gets off on the power. Oh, yeah. Okay, so we have two quotes to close it out. Oh, okay, because I couldn't choose between the two.

LA:

So three, I just wouldn't

Berly:

you be Dean. Okay. Whenever Cass is trying to talk Dean into like, helping him find God. He's like, he's got to be here somewhere. I just know he is.

LA:

And Dean says, trying to Mexico, I hear he's on a tortilla. The cast thinks

Berly:

it over and says, No, he's not on any flatbread. And then he was dead serious. And then of course, the other quote close had help from Castile again. Dean, give it to me. Cheers. Thank you for listening to denim wrapped nightmares.
