Supernatural Season 5, Episode 10, Abandon All Hope recap 😈 It's the season five midseason finale: Crowley (Mark Sheppard) makes his very first appearance, the Winchesters and their friends get the Colt back, and everyone heads to Carthage, Missouri, to take on the devil himself, on Denim-wrapped Nightmares, a Supernatural rewatch podcast. Daddy's in town.

Becky's tip pans out: Bela gave the Colt to the demon Crowley, and he's got a surprising offer for the boys: he wants the devil dead as much as they do. With Jo (Alona Tal) and Ellen (Samantha Ferris) back on the team, the gang breaks into Crowley's house, gathers at Bobby's for one last night of drinks, and heads to Carthage, where the townspeople have vanished, reapers are everywhere, and Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) is preparing something big. Meanwhile, Meg (Rachel Miner) has a trap waiting for Cas.

Episode Highlights:

  • Crowley's grand entrance (and a VERY memorable deal sealed with a kiss)
  • Crowley calling Bobby Huggy Bear
  • Jo helping the boys break into Crowley's house
  • Bobby insisting on a group photo before the big fight (we're not crying, you're crying)
  • Dean and Jo's last night on Earth speech
  • Reapers standing perfectly still all over Carthage (CREEPY)
  • Cas vs. Meg and a ring of holy fire
  • Hellhounds, a hardware store, and a plan that wrecked us (plus Ellen's kick it in the ass, a tribute to Kim Manners)
  • Lucifer, the Colt, and a very bad surprise

In the lore segment, we dig into the real-life inspiration for Crowley: Aleister Crowley, the self-proclaimed Beast (not to be confused with the one in Split or Pauline from What We Do in the Shadows), founder of Thelema, and the inspiration behind Ozzy Osbourne's Mr. Crowley and Neil Gaiman's Crowley in Good Omens (Could he have inspired Alastair's name, too?).

Dean: "Excuse me for asking, but aren't you kind of signing your own death warrant? I mean, what happens to you if we go up against the devil and lose?"
Crowley: "One, he's going to wipe us all out anyway. Two, after you leave here, I go on an extended vacation to all points nowhere. And three, how about you don't miss, okay, morons?"
