The cut offs"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":262.47,"endTime":266.37,"body":"that we use, millennials are"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":262.47,"endTime":266.37,"body":"those born between 1984 and"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":266.37,"endTime":271.65,"body":"2002. So currently, their ages"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":266.37,"endTime":271.65,"body":"are in the 20s. And basically up"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":271.65,"endTime":279.06,"body":"to about 38. Gen X we typically"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":271.65,"endTime":279.06,"body":"say is 1965 to 1983. So those"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":279.06,"endTime":283.11,"body":"are people in their late 30s"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":279.06,"endTime":283.11,"body":"through their late 50s. Baby"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":283.11,"endTime":287.82,"body":"Boomers, of course, 1946 to"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":283.11,"endTime":287.82,"body":"1964. That's about the only"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":287.82,"endTime":291.24,"body":"generation most of us agree on"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":287.82,"endTime":291.24,"body":"and those are people in their"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":291.24,"endTime":296.64,"body":"late 50s, maybe around 58 up"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":291.24,"endTime":296.64,"body":"through their mid 70s, 75-76"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":296.64,"endTime":300.51,"body":"somewhere in there. And then the"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":296.64,"endTime":300.51,"body":"elders, those are people born"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":300.51,"endTime":305.31,"body":"before the boomers born before"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":300.51,"endTime":305.31,"body":"1946, so those typically will be"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":305.31,"endTime":307.38,"body":"considered people 77 or older."},{"speaker":"Rick Green","startTime":307.44,"endTime":309.33,"body":"Okay. But But But now what"},{"speaker":"Rick Green","startTime":312.36,"endTime":315.87,"body":"we're looking at is, is how did"},{"speaker":"Rick Green","startTime":315.87,"endTime":320.4,"body":"their views on on faith change"},{"speaker":"Rick Green","startTime":315.87,"endTime":320.4,"body":"as a result of the pandemic, as"},{"speaker":"Rick Green","startTime":320.4,"endTime":323.13,"body":"well as just just other issues?"},{"speaker":"Rick Green","startTime":320.4,"endTime":323.13,"body":"So what did you discover in this"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":323.0,"endTime":323.75,"body":"Well, with"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":323.0,"endTime":323.75,"body":"millennials, you know, it's an"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":323.13,"endTime":323.76,"body":"latest study?"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":324.47,"endTime":325.64,"body":"interesting group, because there"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":324.47,"endTime":325.64,"body":"were changes. There weren't as"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":325.64,"endTime":327.35,"body":"many changes, as we saw, for"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":325.64,"endTime":327.35,"body":"instance, with Gen X. But when"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":327.35,"endTime":339.65,"body":"we looked at their changes, what"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":327.35,"endTime":339.65,"body":"we found is that they really"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":339.65,"endTime":344.12,"body":"didn't turn to their faith, to"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":339.65,"endTime":344.12,"body":"help them navigate the pandemic."},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":344.6,"endTime":347.84,"body":"To the millennial generation,"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":344.6,"endTime":347.84,"body":"they consider themselves to be"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":347.84,"endTime":351.17,"body":"spiritual, they don't"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":347.84,"endTime":351.17,"body":"necessarily consider themselves"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":351.17,"endTime":356.69,"body":"to be Christian, or deeply"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":351.17,"endTime":356.69,"body":"Christian. So as they were"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":356.69,"endTime":361.31,"body":"trying to figure out how it is"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":356.69,"endTime":361.31,"body":"that they could figure out what"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":361.31,"endTime":364.34,"body":"to do with the pandemic, they"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":361.31,"endTime":364.34,"body":"were looking to other things."},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":364.34,"endTime":367.43,"body":"They they turned primarily to"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":364.34,"endTime":367.43,"body":"their feelings. They would turn"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":367.43,"endTime":370.52,"body":"to their friends and their"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":367.43,"endTime":370.52,"body":"family but they didn't turn so"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":370.52,"endTime":374.06,"body":"much to their faith. When they"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":370.52,"endTime":374.06,"body":"did basically, what we found is"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":374.06,"endTime":377.18,"body":"that the pandemic led them to"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":374.06,"endTime":377.18,"body":"believe, you know, what the"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":377.18,"endTime":380.69,"body":"elements of the Christian faith"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":377.18,"endTime":380.69,"body":"that they're aware of, and that"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":380.69,"endTime":384.38,"body":"they might have access to,"},{"speaker":"George Barna","startTime":380.69,"endTime":384.38,"body":"aren't very helpful. And"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1337.95,"endTime":1340.29,"body":"I've thought that a lot recently"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1337.95,"endTime":1340.29,"body":"as I've seen what's happened at"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1340.29,"endTime":1342.0,"body":"school boards and what's"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1340.29,"endTime":1342.0,"body":"happening with the gender"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1342.0,"endTime":1346.41,"body":"movement and the transitioning,"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1342.0,"endTime":1346.41,"body":"etc. Where the parents?  Why"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1346.41,"endTime":1348.51,"body":"don't these kids know when"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1346.41,"endTime":1348.51,"body":"they're five and six years old,"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1348.51,"endTime":1351.96,"body":"that there's two genders, and"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1348.51,"endTime":1351.96,"body":"what the differences are. I know, for"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1357.48,"endTime":1361.05,"body":"generations, there used to be a"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1361.05,"endTime":1363.96,"body":"lot of parenting classes that"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1361.05,"endTime":1363.96,"body":"were done at churches where you"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1363.96,"endTime":1366.87,"body":"dealt with that. And so now"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1363.96,"endTime":1366.87,"body":"you've got a lot of parents who"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1366.87,"endTime":1369.87,"body":"really don't know the Biblical"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1366.87,"endTime":1369.87,"body":"approach to parenting or what to"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1369.87,"endTime":1372.18,"body":"do with discipline, or how much"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1369.87,"endTime":1372.18,"body":"discipline is enough? And how"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1372.18,"endTime":1375.18,"body":"much is too much. And how do you"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1372.18,"endTime":1375.18,"body":"how do you correct in the right"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1375.18,"endTime":1378.0,"body":"way and right spirit, so you've"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1375.18,"endTime":1378.0,"body":"really got some floating"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1378.0,"endTime":1381.21,"body":"generations here, and what one"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1378.0,"endTime":1381.21,"body":"generation's passing the to the"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1381.21,"endTime":1383.91,"body":"next is weaker than what they"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1381.21,"endTime":1383.91,"body":"had, which is not a good place"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1383.91,"endTime":1386.79,"body":"to be in. But this is, I think,"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1383.91,"endTime":1386.79,"body":"as much as anything, it's an"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1386.79,"endTime":1390.09,"body":"indication of the failure of the"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1386.79,"endTime":1390.09,"body":"church to impact the culture,"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1390.27,"endTime":1392.88,"body":"they've not been able to make"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1390.27,"endTime":1392.88,"body":"disciples of people. They've not"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1392.88,"endTime":1395.55,"body":"been able to say, make disciples"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1392.88,"endTime":1395.55,"body":"of one generation to make"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1395.55,"endTime":1399.0,"body":"disciples of the next. And so"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1395.55,"endTime":1399.0,"body":"the type of things that used to"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1399.0,"endTime":1401.58,"body":"be there. And you know, the"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1399.0,"endTime":1401.58,"body":"squishiness, one of the things"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1401.58,"endTime":1404.67,"body":"I've kind of become focused on"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1401.58,"endTime":1404.67,"body":"recently, and listening to so"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1404.67,"endTime":1407.55,"body":"many pastors, when they're"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1404.67,"endTime":1407.55,"body":"trying to deal with the culture,"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1407.55,"endTime":1409.47,"body":"they say, now, we don't want to"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":1407.55,"endTime":1409.47,"body":"condemn the culture.
