He was an attorney. And"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":221.13,"endTime":225.09,"body":"he read some of the religious"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":221.13,"endTime":225.09,"body":"stuff we had on the foundations"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":225.09,"endTime":228.03,"body":"of America. And he ends up"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":281.7,"endTime":285.75,"body":"becoming a circuit judge. And so"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":281.7,"endTime":285.75,"body":"here's this guy who was on the"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":285.75,"endTime":289.02,"body":"wrong side fighting religion"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":285.75,"endTime":289.02,"body":"publicly every chance he got"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":289.23,"endTime":291.78,"body":"because he is absolutely"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":289.23,"endTime":291.78,"body":"convinced our founding fathers"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":291.78,"endTime":294.99,"body":"were secular. What they did was"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":291.78,"endTime":294.99,"body":"found a secular nation and of"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":294.99,"endTime":297.9,"body":"course we have actual documents."},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":294.99,"endTime":297.9,"body":"We got the Founding Fathers own"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":297.9,"endTime":300.75,"body":"writings and so many of their"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":297.9,"endTime":300.75,"body":"publications and so many things"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":300.75,"endTime":303.12,"body":"from the Continental Congress"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":300.75,"endTime":303.12,"body":"and from the US Congress that"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":303.12,"endTime":307.32,"body":"say just the opposite. And when"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":303.12,"endTime":307.32,"body":"people don't know that it's easy"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":307.32,"endTime":310.35,"body":"to get led astray. And that's"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":307.32,"endTime":310.35,"body":"where a whole lot of people are"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":310.35,"endTime":313.41,"body":"today, even people who believed"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":310.35,"endTime":313.41,"body":"that America has a religious"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":313.41,"endTime":316.14,"body":"heritage, they're not really"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":313.41,"endTime":316.14,"body":"grounded in it the way they need"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":316.14,"endTime":318.57,"body":"to be. They can't really defend"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":316.14,"endTime":318.57,"body":"it. If someone comes up to them"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":318.57,"endTime":320.31,"body":"and says, no, you don't know"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":318.57,"endTime":320.31,"body":"what you're talking about."},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":320.46,"endTime":324.03,"body":"America was founded as a secular"},{"speaker":"David Barton","startTime":320.46,"endTime":324.03,"body":"nation.
