Unexpected Victories: How Trump's Policies Are Reducing Crime Rates

Tim Barton, David Barton & Rick Green

America is witnessing a remarkable turnaround that defies mainstream narratives but confirms what many citizens have long known—when we return to foundational principles, society thrives.

Across the nation, murder rates are plummeting in cities once synonymous with violence. Baltimore's homicide rate has fallen by 31.6%, St. Louis by 34.5%, and Denver by a staggering 63%. This transformation coincides with executive orders that restored the federal death penalty for heinous crimes and empowered law enforcement to "relentlessly pursue criminals." The simple truth emerges: when we hold criminals accountable rather than releasing them without consequences, communities become safer.

Meanwhile, the pro-life movement continues gaining momentum. Texas has achieved 30 consecutive months without a single elective abortion, while Indiana has reduced procedures from 3,000 annually to just 22 in a three-month period. Beyond prohibitions, states like Arkansas have appropriated millions to support pregnancy centers and adoption services, demonstrating a holistic approach to valuing life at all stages.

Cultural shifts are equally noteworthy. Pride Month celebrations face dwindling support—even in liberal strongholds like Boise, Idaho, where insufficient ticket sales forced event cancellations. Nine NFL teams have declined to participate in Pride promotions, while major retailers like Target have replaced rainbow displays with patriotic American imagery. The White House itself has announced no plans for Pride Month proclamations, marking a significant departure from previous administrations.

These developments reflect a profound realignment with values that have sustained America throughout its history. By enforcing laws, protecting the innocent, supporting families, and honoring life, we're witnessing the rebuilding of cultural foundations that create prosperity and genuine freedom for all citizens.

Rick Green [00:00:07] You found your way to the intersection of faith and culture. Thanks for joining us on the WallBuilders Show today. It's Friday, my favorite day of the week for WallBuilders. Cause David and Tim do all the work. And I just, I'm like the ping pong guy bouncing it back and forth between them. Anyway, they've been gathering good news all year long. We haven't gotten to all of their stack, but we'll try to knock out some of it today. Rick Green here with David and Tim Barton, and be sure to visit our other websites are both our websites today. Wallbuilders.show for the radio program and Wallbuilders.com for everything else. All things WallBuilders and rebuilding liberty in this country. What a great time to rebuild the walls. Well guys, a lot of that's been happening. I know y'all got a lot a good news for us. Where are we gonna start, David?

David Barton [00:00:46] Well, I was reading last night and just row after row after row of pro-life stories. I'm just going to hit some headlines real quick. This is a pro-Life update. The first headline says Texas records 30 straight months of zero elective abortions. So the second largest state in the United States for now two and a half years has not had a single elective abortion. There have been 171 medically necessary abortions for life of the mother that's medically determined and for sure. There's going to be chemical abortions occurring in Texas because of what Congress did and what Biden did. And Trump is trying to reverse that chemical abortion thing nationally, but still that's good news. 30 straight months here in Texas. I hit this headlines as Indiana reports, just 22 abortions, as that their band worked there. And this is for the last three months, they've had only 22 abortures. So they've gone from about 3000 a year down to less than a hundred a year in Indiana, which is great news on all those kids being saved and in Missouri, every single abortion business in Missouri has been shut down, even though Missouri passed proposition three, allowing abortions they had a law judge that says that means you can't restrict anything. And, and, Supreme court said, no, that doesn't change that. You still have to have parental consent. You still to have medical regulations to have ultrasounds. You can have abortions, but you can have all this other stuff. And right now there is not a, there is not a single abortion facility in Missouri, that sterilizes their equipment that, that is, is licensed that gets informed consent from women. I mean, all the things that state law requires. So at this point in time, there's not any abortion businesses working in Missouri, Oklahoma, the governor Stitt just declared a month of life instead of June being pride month. June is now going to be the month of life and in, in Oklahoma, they're celebrating a month of live for abortions. And it's great there, uh, they, they use the, the, and they also reform the initiative process because a lot of outside groups have been coming in these states, 17 abortion, uh bands have been voted on by the people and what they did in Oklahoma say, Hey, you're not going to just go to Oklahoma city in Tulsa and get all the signatures. You got to go through all the counties in the state. You have to get representative vote here. We're not a democracy, we're a Republic. If you want to have a referendum, you got to the counties and get permission. And that makes it really hard for them to shove through these pro-abortion things. And the fifth and final story that I've got on this pro-life stuff, this comes out of Arkansas. They have banned abortions in Arkansas, which they are not having the abortions, but they did appropriate $2 million dollars to help pregnancy centers there. And so that helps pregnancy resource centers, maternity homes, adoption facilities, providing material support to women with unplanned pregnancies, et cetera. So just last night, there were five headline stories on how this pro-life stuff is really growing in the country. I think that's tremendous. I hope it goes across the country, gets us back to where we were pre-judicial activism, back to that life actually means something in the declaration. That'd be a great place to return to.

Rick Green [00:04:03] Lots of good pro-life good news around the country. Tim, I'm gonna guess you have a pro-Life piece, no?

Tim Barton [00:04:10] I mean, this is very pro-life. It's, it's a little different kind of pro- life. This one is identifying the title of the article says murder rates plummet nationwide as Trump crime crackdown takes effect. So it's incredibly pro-Life. Yeah. So there's still life because there's not a murder. Fewer people are being murdered. Right. So it, it, really good news. It's so fascinating as I was reading this article that the The White House released a number that 20% a drop nationwide in the murder rate so far this year, and that's just since kind of implementing some of Trump's ideas, there's been some executive orders I'll come to later in this article, but they identified in some of the cities that we would know and recognize as some of the more dangerous cities in the nation. The murder rate has fallen significantly like statistically significant, obvious, easy to see. As examples, in Baltimore, the murder rate is down 31.6%. In St. Louis, it's down 34.5%. In Cleveland, it is down 36.8%. In Denver, it down 63%. In New Orleans, it was down 30.6%, New York City is down 26.8%, Chicago is down 23.7%. And the guy who did the data analysis on this was Jeff Asher. And what he pointed out is if this decline continues through the fall. We should seriously start having a discussion about the probability of a record breaking year until then it's sufficient to be aware of and measure the possibility of new record lows. So as they point out, this doesn't mean it's gonna stay this way for the rest of the year, but what we're seeing right now is so significant. And part of what this article points out is giving Trump credit because he reinstated consequences for violent criminals and restoring authority to law enforcement. Now, the idea that we're saying, let's actually punish criminals. I was on a news outlet earlier this week and just talking about how, bizarre it is that we are now in a place where as an example, and this is actually probably going to be a good news, maybe next week or two weeks. I I'm pretty sure we printed this off. It's going to stack somewhere. But the, the new police chief of Dallas, when he said that we are not going to do these like sanctuary holdouts, not enforcing the law. That time is over, we're now going to do the right thing and uphold the law. The fact that we have to celebrate when you have a police chief that's saying we're gonna uphold the laws seems crazy. And yet, it's also interesting to note that when people uphold the Law, look what happens. And in this case, for example, the murder rates have been plummeting in some of the worst places where murder has been so prevalent and prominent, It's going down. The article also points out that there were several actions that Trump took. One of them, in January 20th, he had an executive order restoring the death penalty and protecting public safety, reinforcing the federal death penalty for heinous crimes. And guys, I've forgotten, and when I read this, I instantly remembered that the death penalty was removed federally, where they said, you know what, it doesn't matter how bad somebody is, doesn't matter how much evil they've done. We're not going to require their life from them. We're not gonna make them pay the highest possible price they could pay in their lifetime, which is their life. No, we're instead gonna put them in a place where they get three hot meals, they got a bed to sleep on, air conditioning, like no, we gonna punish them a different way. It's crazy, but President Trump said, no, no. We're actually gonna come back with consequences and we will restore the death penalty in this situation. On March 27th, there was an order to secure the nation's capital by increasing D.C. police capacity and targeting repeat offenders, April 28th, he had a directive empowering state and local law enforcement to relentlessly pursue criminals and protect American communities. And I love the wordage, the verbiage, relentlessly pursue criminals. Don't give up on this. Don't look and be like, I don't know where they went. They're gone. No, relentlessness. You track these dudes down. You find them, you lock them away and you protect American communities, this is the kind of attitude and leadership that has brought a significant change. And of course, we've talked about it on the southern border. We've seen this in a lot of areas, but guys, I did not realize how far the murder rate had fallen, but very clear from this data, in some of the most dangerous cities in America, and it doesn't mean they're not so dangerous to some extent and in some ways, but in the deadliest cities in America, the murder rates have fallen significantly, and this is really good news.

Rick Green [00:09:00] All right, fellas, stay with me on this. This is maybe a revolutionary idea. I may be wrong on this,  I feel like I'm having an epiphany, but there's, there's there's all these Bible verses about getting rid of the, you know, person that stirs up strife and then you'll have peace, you know, get the troublemaker out of the room or out of the group and you'll have peace. I I've got an idea. What if you get rid of the murderers, you would have less murder. Like if you, if you remove the criminal from the equation, either putting them in jail or sending them across the border back home. I know it's radical. I know this could be, but if it were to catch on, it sounds like it might be working somewhere.

Tim Barton [00:09:36] Now, I think I understand. You're saying. Murders were arrested. There might be less murders. Am I understanding that it's a stretch.

Rick Green [00:09:48] It's a stretch but I just wanted to throw it out there. What you guys would think. I mean Trump is literally bringing back common sense to because remember the left was quite literally saying, you can steal as long as it's less than 900 as if the eighth commandment has a little exception clause in there

David Barton [00:10:05] Do you guys, do you guys realize the irony of what you're doing? You're actually talking about the fact that we have arrived at a place where we don't arrest murderers. I mean, we're literally that place. You remember as Biden is actually in office, a big bulk of his pardons that he gave were commuting death sentences for convicted murderers, taking the penalty, we've arrived at place where that we're just not enforcing the law and we're joking about it. But, you know, literally the scripture says that when you enforce the law, the heart of the people is turned away from doing evil. And it's just so ironic that we are actually making a joke out of something that is actually genuinely going on right now. And we've talked in previous Good News Fridays about all these Soros prosecutors that have been thrown out, because when they got in office, they would not go after any criminal. They said, you can steal anything up to a thousand dollars and murder. We're not going to prosecute. We were just, how did we get to a point in America where anybody can get elected? With that kind of a philosophy that any kind of president, any kind, of a prosecutor, any kind of a city official. I mean, they're winning elections!

Tim Barton [00:11:28] And this is where I think it's worth making a point, right? Because what we were saying, you had mentioned that these people don't get arrested. And in many cases they actually get arrested, but it's the prosecutor who decides they're not going to prosecute the violation of that law, whatever that looks like. And it's a reason, and I want to be clear on this, because oftentimes the police are the ones, not just who do the arresting, they're the ones doing the right thing in this. So police are actually arresting the bad guys! But then it's the local DAs. It's the prosecutors who say, yeah, we don't want to charge these people with that. Let's turn them, because especially if they're an illegal immigrant, let's just turn them back loose or they downgrade it so much that they, they under, and this is the balance because there are times that we over-criminalize in America significantly, but then there are time when we don t criminalize at all and so we, we definitely see some of the brokenness in the judicial system the justice system. But, but the way you solve this problem is not to swing the pendulum to the other side. We say that we will, we will not enforce the law at all. We will not incarcerate and we will not prosecute these people at all, no. There, there, there obviously is supposed to be justice in this. And just cause there's been abuse in some areas doesn't mean we should totally eradicate it. But dad, to that point, this is the reason that guys like George Soros have done so many devastating things to America because in helping some of these people get elected and they determine we're not gonna prosecute anything if there's theft and it's less than $1,000. We're not going to prosecute it. Well, what does that do for small businesses? Right, well, what is that do in so many of these communities? It causes business to shut down. Families are shuttered, jobs are lost, things are relocated, and dad, to your point, like this is crazy we're having these conversations, but on the flip side, This is also where it's great now to see the contrast of having a leader like President Trump was saying, hey, we're going to crack down on these criminals, these violent people doing these evil things. And even the fact that he's restoring a death penalty for the heinous crimes, like if somebody goes into a school and does a mass shooting, The idea that under maybe a Democrat leader, there's not a death penalty is absurd. But for president Trump to say, no, if you do something heinous, we're going to, we're gonna require your life from you. Cause this is the highest penalty you can pay. It makes a lot of sense. But also we see the reality of the impact of those policies when they're enacted, that it's brought the murder rate down and some of the deadliest places in America, these major cities. And the fact that they've not just fallen by a couple of percent as points, we're talking 20, 30% in all of these places where I just named with the exception of Denver, which is down 63%, it's incredible what happens when you have someone who enforces the law, who almost like the Bible talked about with the role of government, where they punish the wicked, they reward the righteous. That's what the role of government's supposed to do. And when government does what God created government to do. It's amazing. To see how well that actually works going forward in society.

Rick Green [00:14:37] It's almost as if you do it God's way their blessings and when you don't do it his way there are curses I think that might be written down somewhere all right quick break guys We'll be right back stay with us folks lots more good news coming your way. You're listening to the WallBuilders Show

Rick Green [00:15:56] Welcome back to the WallBuilders Show. Thanks for staying with us on this Good News Friday, taking it back over to... I think actually, was that David? No, that was Tim's Good News on the, uh, less murder when you remove the murderers from the equation. So back to David for some good news.

David Barton [00:16:09] So my first one was on life and mentioned there that governors did in Oklahoma has declared June as life month rather than pride month, but following up on the pride month kind of aspect, um, two stories on that, that, that are kind of both the same, or at least I think they are one deals with Idaho now, Idaho, the largest city in Idaho is Boise and nearly every large city in the United States. It tends to be blue. Fort Worth, I think is the only exception of that in the top 20 cities in America. Fort Worth is still a red city. It's 13th, I thank out of the top, 20 boys. It is, if you will, it's a liberal city. It's a, it is a blue island in a very red sea of, of Idaho. And so what they have, this is, we're coming into June. And so this is when they kick off pride month, et cetera. And so, and by way, just to show you how liberal boys he is. In Idaho, they passed a law that says, look, the city governments, state governments, any government in Idaho can only fly flags that have been approved by government, like U.S. Flag and state flag and POW flag, and you can't fly the rainbow flags and etc. Well, Boise, at Boise City Hall, they erected the pride flag for June. They're not going to tell us what to do. We're going to do what we want to here in Boise. And so they have a scheduled pride season kickoff in Boise. And it's a big event. They sell tickets to it. They raise money. And you know, here's this really blue Boise and they had to cancel the event because they couldn't sell any tickets to the event. So even in the midst of this really Blue City that elects a very blue Democrat mayor, maybe the only Democrat elected in Idaho is there in Boisi. They could not get enough support. For purchasing the tickets for their, their pride events for June. And I just think that's, that's really, it's really great. You know, again, we're not celebrating sexual deviancy publicly, which is what we considered this for several millennia in the world and several centuries in America and several decades in all those states. And so that's I think that just great irony, but talking about pride month of all the teams that are in NFL football, there are nine that refused to do anything for pride month. And I think it's worth a shout out to them. Those nine are the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cleveland Browns, the Dallas Cowboys, the Indianapolis Colts, the Kansas city chiefs, the Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, the New York Jets, and the Tennessee Titans. Now there were three other, there were 3 other teams on there, but after that the gay. Folks really nailed them for not participating. They changed sides and that's Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Seattle Seahawks. But nonetheless, you got nine, I guess it's 27 teams in the NFL. You got nine of them that have refused to participate in joining in with Gay Pride Month. And that's, I think, really good news. They're having the courage to do that. And by the way, the market's supporting them in doing that. We've already seen the market start turning. We saw that with everything from Target and, you know, Disney and everything else. So it's great, but these guys have had courage despite what the market has done. The three squishes that flipped over, I wish they hadn't done that. But after the gay folks got after them, the gay mafia got after and they switched back and they started recognizing gay pride month. But that's just some good news related to pride events and they're not doing real well in America, which is great.

Rick Green [00:19:55] I know there's a joke in there somewhere when we're talking about the gay mafia and somebody switching sides, but I'm going to leave it alone. And I will say you're exactly right about the market responding well. That's what got me back to baseball guys. I mean, I had boycotted baseball for three and a half years because of BLM and all the nonsense and the Texas Rangers refused to do the pride thing, I guess it was last June, not, not this June of this year, and maybe not even last year, it might have been the June before that. Anyway, once they took that stand, some other team started also taking that stand and it, you know, helped to get me back as a customer for sure. So hopefully a lot of other people as well. All right, Tim, back over to you for some good news.

Tim Barton [00:20:34] Well, this is following that same theme, but this one is coming from the White House. And the press secretary, Caroline Leavitt says that Trump has no plans to recognize LGBTQ Pride month. She said there are no plans for a proclamation for the month of June, but I can tell you the president is very proud to be a president for all Americans, regardless of race, religion, or creed. And dad, just as you mentioned, There are sports teams, there are noted noted companies. There's actually different companies that we wouldn't shop at for a long time, that actually places like Target, as an easy example, where Target in June, not only did they have the the pride stuff all over the front of their store. I mean, just a year or two ago, right? When they had the transgender quote unquote, tuckable bathing suits for boys to be able to get like a girl's bathing suit. And be able to hide their natural, I'm trying to think of the best family friendly way to say this, right? But hide some of what God gave them in an effort to appear to be something that they were not. And this was the front of Target in so many locations. But if you go on Target today and look in the front of their store, they have American flags everywhere. They're celebrating the summer in 4th of July and they're patriotic. And we've seen major fortune 500 companies shift and go a very different direction from where they were. Well, the white house has also done that. If you remember back to Trump's first term in office, he actually did do some things promoting or celebrating on his social media specifically, but celebrating some of the LGBTQIA plus, uh, kind of acknowledgements, events, and some of th the efforts of his administration. And that's is definitely a different token than we are getting right now from the White House. So I would say, you know, not only guys are encouraging what we're seeing from the business world, from the sports world, but even from the white house, this is super encouraging. And I do wonder, you, know, as we've talked about President Trump having some encounters with faith and faith being more important to him, I do wonder if even some of those traditional values are becoming more clear to him. Not that, you know, in the midst of President Trump, it's not that he's being unloving or different to individuals, but just the official positions they are taking, that they're choosing to celebrate life, or family, or America, or the military over someone's sexual identity, is an incredible victory coming from the White House.

Rick Green [00:23:15] Very good news, guys. And if I could, if I can throw in a good news before David, you take us on with the final piece of good news. I was at the white house a couple of days ago and just getting to see. A lot of those folks that we've worked with for years and years and years, Patriot Academy grads, folks that have been to our pastor's briefings. I mean, just all of these people, not just kind of like, you know, stuck in a corner somewhere, just filing paper, I mean they are in the mix. They are in. The middle of these policy decisions, these plans, these Responses it it was I came home with so much hope guys. It's just it's so cool to see God elevating These people a lot of them the next generation younger than all three of us and and being used in this mighty mighty way And so, you know without naming names and specific positions just to say man. We are blessed blessed blessed right now God has given favor to some very effective people with the right skills and the right values super good news Take us home with our final piece of good news today.

David Barton [00:24:16] This deals with the American Bar Association. Uh, the American bar association that started decades ago and they, they really were a place for legal expertise to come together and they would come out with papers and policies and et cetera that were helpful for, for those in the legal arena, uh, those in legal arena that become judges. And, and I guess virtually every judge is an attorney except for maybe justice, the peace and local, local JP kind of stuff, but They're all there, but what's happened over the last several decades is in order to be nominated or in order to move forward in the nomination for a federal judgeship, you had to sit in front of the American bar association and they would rank you as qualified or not qualified and they're all the experts. And before you become a, a judge as an attorney, they need to look at you and make sure that you really know how to do it well in recent decades, they'd become a progressive group and they, they You know, they consistently give conservative, constitutionalist a low rating and they give progressives a high rating. And so Pam Bondi has announced that in the Trump administration, they will no longer use anything from the American Bar Association. If they wanna have their opinion, they can, but no longer will candidates sit for interviews with them and no longer is that gonna be determining factor. Chuck Grassley, who said a judiciary committee in the Senate, which is where they confirmed these judges said the same thing. Uh, he said they're progressive advocacy group. And so it's really good that that progressive voice has been taken out of judicial selection and judicial confirmation is going back now to the actual worth of the candidates. So that's a really good piece of good news.
