Nevada’s Parental Notification Law Will be Enforced After Planned Parenthood Drops Lawsuit

Finding hope in a sea of negative headlines isn't easy, but every Friday on the WallBuilders Show, we make it our mission to spotlight the victories and positive developments that deserve attention. This episode of Good News Friday reveals several significant wins happening across America and around the world that you likely haven't heard about elsewhere.

We begin with a stunning development from Nevada, where a 40-year legal battle over parental notification for minors seeking abortions has finally concluded with a pro-life victory. This decades-long struggle reveals the power of persistence and how defunding Planned Parenthood led to this unexpected outcome in a state not typically known for conservative policies.

The digital battlefield has seen remarkable progress as well. Google has removed tens of thousands of YouTube channels this year alone that were spreading foreign propaganda, primarily from China and Russia. In a related development that should have happened years ago, the Department of Defense has finally stopped using China-based engineers to maintain the Pentagon's cloud systems - a common-sense security measure that represents a significant policy shift.

We also explore several international peace agreements brokered by former President Trump that have received surprisingly little coverage, including a major breakthrough between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo that will help protect persecuted Christians in the region. This peace deal joins others between India-Pakistan, Serbia-Kosovo, and Egypt-Ethiopia that demonstrate effective diplomatic leadership.

Domestically, the Small Business Administration has reversed a discriminatory policy that banned faith-based orga

Rick Green [00:00:07] Thanks for joining us today on the WallBuilder show. This is where we take on the hot topics of the day from a biblical, historical and constitutional perspective. And yes, my favorite day of the week. I know what's the way to say it every Friday, but you know, we have great programming here on the WallBuilders Show, but there's something about the good news. I'm already an optimist. I'm already one of those glasses have full guys, but I love hearing these good news stories because I like knowing we're getting good results out there. I just love knowing how many of you are active out there. So many of our stories are about you and about what you've done in your communities. Local action that's taking place. So good news Friday is the best show of the week as far as I'm concerned. Rick green here with David Barton and Tim Barton, they do all the heavy lifting. I just say the ping pong thing, you know, oh, it's on David's side of the table and then it's one Tim's side. But you guys have been collecting stories. How many years you've been doing? We've been to good news Friday for well over 15 years. I wonder how many good news stories y'all have shared over these years. It's in the thousands, no doubt about it. So I, and I know y' all have never gotten through your stack. So there's stuff that you just have to toss cause it gets old. But anyway, thank y'all for the time you put in to find in all these good new stories.

Tim Barton [00:01:08] You're welcome.

Rick Green [00:01:09] Oh, I didn't do the ping pong thing. So yes, David, your first piece of good news today.

David Barton [00:01:14] I get to start with a piece of good news that I think is really interesting. I'm going to throw some questions at you guys as a result of it. But in Nevada, they have now won the case on parental notification for abortion with minors.

Tim Barton [00:01:28] Who has won the case?

David Barton [00:01:29] Well, that's coming up.

Tim Barton [00:01:31] So a case has been won.

David Barton [00:01:33] Yes. Pro-life people won the case in Nevada. They, they now have won the case with a parental notification law that requires before any abortion clinic can do an abortion. If it's a minor, they have to get permission from the parents to do that. So parental notification law. So number one question, who thought that was gonna pass in Nevada?

Tim Barton [00:01:56] No, I did not.

Rick Green [00:01:57] So the only thing, I would say Nevada has surprised me in the last couple years in terms of a lot more, it's switched a lot Democrat to Republican in terms of some of those statewide offices and the legislature and that sort of thing, but they tend to be Rhino Republicans in Nevada. So no, I wouldn't have guessed this would have passed.

Tim Barton [00:02:16] With a heavy libertarian influence as well. Uh, and I think both of those is the reason I would be, even though this is an obvious thought, right? That the idea of even girls in boy sports seems like an obvious thought, but I can see some situations where you do have these libertarians who, in maybe fairness, or at least intellectually honest enough to say, no, this is what my position is and I'm sticking with it. Freedom of will for everybody to do whatever you want, et cetera. Anyway, all that to say, it does surprise me.

David Barton [00:02:48] Yeah, and so here's my next question. How long ago did they pass that law?

Tim Barton [00:02:53] Well, now you're making it sound like it wasn't this year. Mm, that's fascinating.

David Barton [00:02:57] The courts upheld it, they won in court this year, the law was passed in 1985, they've been fighting this thing for fourty years in the courts, 40 years of the courts and they win it. And James Bob, good guy, I've been on platform committee, national platform with Jim a number of times, he's a great guy, great Republican, but he's pro-life attorney.

Rick Green [00:03:20] In fact we've had him on the program a few times in the past, yeah.

David Barton [00:03:23] Yeah, but 40 years. Next question, why did they win the case?

Tim Barton [00:03:31] Uh, the opposing attorney died of old age, 40 years later.

David Barton [00:03:36] Actually, it's close to that. He's no longer getting paid. Planned Parenthood dropped the case. Now why would Planned parenthood drop the case?

Tim Barton [00:03:44] Because they lost their funding.

David Barton [00:03:46] Because they don't have any money anymore.

Rick Green [00:03:50] Oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh defunding of Planned Parenthood pays off. Wow.

David Barton [00:03:53]  yeah, see this is the deal because Planned Parenthhood basically can't exist in the free market if it wasn't for the tens of hundreds of millions of dollars of federal government subsidized if they had to be a free market entity, they're not going to survive. And now that Trump has defunded them for 10 years that they're folded and then going under and so here you got in Nevada, which hasn't been pro-life in 40 years that has a pro- life law that just got passed because Planned Parenthood folded and when, his is a great story in so many levels. And it just shows the impact of that, you know, one big, beautiful bill in, in defunding Planned parenthood. So that's a great and I'm sorry, I teased you guys with questions. I knew you couldn't answer it because nobody's thinking 40 years ago for a law being passed in Nevada that finally, finally goes into effect now.

Rick Green [00:04:41] Well, and I've tried to figure out 40 years ago in Nevada.

Rick Green [00:04:45] I bet Nevada, you know, I can't remember. I bet they were Democrat back then.

Rick Green [00:04:49] No, no, they were Republican.

Tim Barton [00:04:52] Well, they definitely voted for Ronald Reagan because Reagan had a pretty good sweep.

David Barton [00:04:55] Okay, they were they were Republican and they stayed a red state kind of like Arizona used to be a very safe red state Nevada was a safe red state. Then they trended purple then they turned blue and now they're trending back purple with a little bit of red on the edges

Rick Green [00:05:10] Interesting. Well, and as I do the ping pong thing back over to Tim here. So Tim thinking Nevada as much lead you and I have thrown down range in Nevada at when we were used to go out to front side there all the time before we had our place here in Fredericksburg, Texas. Do you have a Nevada good story? No, or you got to go somewhere else. I just didn't know if it'd be a good segue.

Tim Barton [00:05:28] No, well, no, but you know, as long as we're having trivia that you guys aren't going to win, I do have a question for both of you guys. Um, yes,.

Rick Green [00:05:37] Alright, David, that sounds like a real challenge. Like, I mean he just said there is no way that we are going to answer this question.

Tim Barton [00:05:43] Well, I mean, with my dad setting this up, I feel like it's only fair. So guess what number I'm thinking about in my head right now.

Rick Green [00:05:50] See, I was literally pulling up Grok, getting ready for your question. I was gonna type it in as you said it so that I could surprise you with the answer, but I don't think even Grock can pull that one up.

Tim Barton [00:06:00] It was a true question. And I probably would have answered honestly if you got it correct, but that's unknown. I will just move on to the good news story.

Rick Green [00:06:07] But your dad's questions sometimes are that hard. That is just true.

Tim Barton [00:06:11] Okay, but here's an actual good news story where there are numbers involved. So Google has been in the process first quarter and now in the second quarter numbers have come out of how many Websites they have removed from youtube specifically in this article is talking about that are connected to china that are connected to russia that that are kind of foreign operative intel related things and then the article even goes on to talk about uh department defense and some of what they've done Which actually there's there's a a really weird sad irony in this I'm gonna get to but guess how many youtube channels let's start with the first quarter. Guess how many YouTube channels that Google removed in the first quarter,  and we won't say specifically connected to China and Russia because not all of them were, but a significant portion and a majority of them work connected China and Russia, but guess the total number that were removed because of foreign Intel propaganda kind of stuff, first quarter alone, not the second quarter yet.

David Barton [00:07:11] It's gonna be, it's gotta be in the thousands because we haven't done anything to discourage our enemies from coming in. We're selling them farm land. We're letting them set up military stuff. So it's got to be in thousands because there's been nobody to say no, no adult supervision.

Tim Barton [00:07:25] So first quarter, 23,000, YouTube channels and a number of other Google related assets with article says a significant portion of which were connected to China and Russia. Now, this article is highlighting that they started there in the first quarter and they've continued on. And so now they're in the second quarter and right logically thinking we probably knocked out a huge percentage of those accounts first quarter. Probably China and Russia are creating new ones all the time. And so there's probably going to be a constant ongoing battle to some extent. But in this quarter, Google has removed nearly 11,000 YouTube channels tied to state-run propaganda campaigns for China, Russia, and other nations over the last few months. So now we're talking. 33 or 34,000 YouTube channels this year alone that are connected to foreign nations to propaganda campaigns, ultimately anti-American campaigns, which overall is really, really good news. There is a threat analysis that Google has done to kind of identify and document this. In 2019, Google announced its threat analysis group was tasked with countering government-backed hacking and disinformation. So 2019 they start this. Although I haven't seen, Dad, to your point, a lot mentioned about them removing a lot of these really malicious things along the way. But as concern, and this is from the article, as concern about adversarial nations grow, other measures have been taken, including by the US Department of Defense. And you would say, well, that's great. What's the Department of defense going to do? Well, here's what they say in the article. Microsoft announced on July 18th that it would stop using China-based engineers for technical support. For the DoD's cloud system.

David Barton [00:09:10] Oh wow. So, oh my goodness.

Tim Barton [00:09:12] What a novel thing to say, hey, we're not going to ask actual engineers, right? Computer techs in China to navigate all of our storage in the cloud for the Department of Defense, right. This isn't like for somebody's private home email. No, this is Department of defense. It goes on to say that Microsoft Chief Communication Officer.

David Barton [00:09:35] Let's see if I get this right. So we're going to put back this. We're going go back to the American Revolution. George Washington hires King George III to come run the communications in America for what's going on in the American revolution. Is that kind of the way I'm getting this?

Tim Barton [00:09:48] I mean, in essence, right, it would have been like us fighting King George, but saying, hey, can we keep all of the money that we're using to pay the soldiers in the bank over in England? Like, can y'all take care of that for us? We're going to trust you on this one. Like, that's what we're doing, right? You are trusting the people that have basically... Acknowledge they want your destruction. They want your downfall. They don't want you to be a superpower. And we've given them the keys to the kingdom, so to speak, that we've allowed them behind the curtain to navigate the cloud storage for presumably sensitive material. This is from the Department of Defense after all. But the Microsoft Chief Communication Officer Frank Shaw said the company made the change to ensure no China based engineering teams were involved to maintaining the Pentagon's cloud system. So at least. We are going the right direction. And you know, Dad, as you mentioned, we have also seen states and governors taking some pretty decisive steps against Chinese owned property, specifically things by military bases where they were buying up farmland and some of what they were doing that ultimately was not beneficial for the American people with their use of resources and water, et cetera. So we've seen some really good moves, but this article highlights the title says Google removes nearly 11,000 YouTube channels linked to China, Russia, and other nations. So the overall good news is there actually are steps being taken against nations that are hostile to America, that don't want the best for America, they don't wanna America to succeed, and we actually now are enforcing something, or at least it's being reported. We don't have evidence this was enforced very much, if at all, under Biden. But at least... It is being enforced and being reported and now even the Department of Defense is not using people in China to secure their cloud system. So overall really good news.

Rick Green [00:11:38] Yeah, Tim, fantastic news. And just another one of those areas. I think we talked about this last week is, you know, we can't cover it all. And there's stuff that's happening behind the scenes and, and, and sort of, uh, deeper down in the agencies and, and just a lot of things that you're just not hearing about. And that we haven't had a chance to cover. And there is more in addition to that, that even we don't know about. So it's just great to, to find out that all these things are happening. Uh, okay, David, Hey, I think we got time to get one more in before we go to break.

David Barton [00:12:04] Yeah, here's one that that deals with the kind of a story of a Trump that's been highly overlooked. And I like the title of this. It says the biggest peace deal of Trump's term may be one we all overlooked. And so I think we looked recently and I think Trump's now been nominated five times this year so far for the Nobel peace prize. We'll come to that later. But nonetheless, this is one that was going on between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda heavily Sharia Muslim, and then Democratic Republic of Congo is heavily Christian. And it has been big massacres of Christians as the Muslims have come across and beheading is really high. There's a bunch of graphic details in here on all the atrocities that have been going on. And Trump got involved and they both sides went and signed a peace treaty at the White House. Now, I don't know how he got him to do it, what he offered, what he didn't offer. If he just was the adult in the room, I don't know if he threatened action or whatever. Who knows what happened? None of the details were out there, but you now have a peace treaty and the Christians in the Congo are rejoicing because they've been the ones that have been the victims of this thing. It's kind of like it was back with ISIS and Iraq and Afghanistan, et cetera. And so all that going on. And so. They call it the biggest peace deal of Trump's term, maybe the one we overlooked. So I went back to see what the other peace deals were in Trump's terms. Do you guys remember any of the other peace deals that he's worked so far? I mean, he's what, six months in now?

Rick Green [00:13:41] Yeah, in fact, I've heard people name, uh, some of those peace deals that I didn't even know about the conflicts. Certainly didn't know that they had, had, had been, you know, resolved.

David Barton [00:13:52] Well, here's Trump's comment, and it was about, will you get the Nobel Peace Prize for this? He says, and this is when they came to the White House to sign the treaty between the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda. He says this is a great day for Africa, and quite frankly, it's a great for the world. I won't get the Nobel Peace Prize for this. I won't get the Noble Peace Prize for stopping the war between India and Pakistan. I won get a Nobel Peace prize for stopping the war between Serbia and Kosovo. I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize for keeping peace between Egypt and Ethiopia. And I won't t get a Nobel Peace Prize doing the Abraham Accords in the Middle East, which, if all goes well, will be loaded to the brim with additional countries signing on and will unify the Middle east for the first time in the ages. No, I won t get Nobel Peace prize no matter what I do, including Russia, Ukraine, and Israel, Iran, whatever their outcomes may be, but the people know and that's That's all that matters to me. Mean, that's like half a dozen conflicts already in six months that have been resolved, and they're not small conflicts. It is amazing to see how, I don't know, people respond, whether he uses leverage, I dunno how he does it, but having more peace, this is really good stuff, and these are from traditional enemies that have pretty hostile to each other. This is remarkable.

Rick Green [00:15:13] Yeah, once again, more of that good news that that either goes unreported or maybe I'm just missing it completely, but great to hear. Okay, guys, quick break. We'll be right back, folks. You're listening to The WallBuilders Show. It's good news Friday.

Rick Green [00:16:29] Welcome back to the WallBuilders Show. Thanks for joining us and staying with us on this Good News Friday, tossing it back over to Tim. And if you're wondering out there why I use the ping pong analogy, it's because I used to think I was good at ping pong. And then when I went to work for David Barton, I found a ping pong table, you know, deep in the bowels of the museum. And I said, Oh, David, let's play ping pong and I thought, I'm going to show this guy. I didn't score a point, not a point. He just like mopped the floor with me. So this is my one chance to actually play ping pong with David Barton and not get beat. I just toss it back and forth. The ball's back in your court, my brother.

Tim Barton [00:17:01] Well, when you're the referee of the ping pong game, feel free to kick people out too, right? It's like the ump behind the plate. Hey, I didn't like the way you patted your helmet. You're gone, right. I don't even, I don't like your attitude. Not that I grass with real baseball moments, but my article says the SBA reverses Biden ban that prohibited faith organizations receiving disaster relief. Now big picture. The SBA is the small business administration. It is one of the cabinet level federal agencies. So it's kind of a big deal. And the real good news from the article, it highlights that they've established a center for faith and they've eliminated the Biden regulation that banned faith organizations from receiving disaster relief. So these two things are working together under the Biden administration. If a disaster happened, one of the things that, we have come to know very well, Rick, as you were helping navigate and solve firsthand some of what happened with the flooding in Texas, not very long ago, for dad, you and I being on the board of Mercury One, where they do so much disaster relief. When a major disaster hits, the organizations that do the most to help are almost without exception, faith-based organizations. It's, it' s people motivated by their faith. They, they want to share the love of Jesus. They want to help people in need. And so they go to try to help. And for so many of these nonprofits, they are donor-driven, because, unfortunately, like was under the Biden administration, faith-based organizations are not eligible to have any kind of funding from the government for disaster relief. Now, in fairness, there's probably a lot of those nonprofits that don't want the funding from the government because they don't any of the loopholes or regulations that go with it. But I would say that under the new small business administration, I think that would be very different. And I understand. Based on who's in charge, it can make a major difference. But under the leadership of Kelly Loeffler, the SBA has reversed this rule, and they're going a very different direction. And this article highlights the press release that came from the Small Business Administration. What they pointed out is that during the last administration, the Biden SBA maintained a regulation that made any entity principally engaged in teaching, instructing, counseling, or indoctrinating religion Ineligible to apply for economic injury disaster loans. Now, also, that's economic injury, disaster loans, that's not even taking funding to help people in need. This is saying that you cannot receive a loan from the government for any part of the rebuild process. Now, again, why this matters is because that means any religious organizations in the town, which could be the churches, right? Other nonprofits in town, no, they cannot have any aid or assistance because part of their primary purpose is to teach, instruct, counsel, or indoctrinate in religion, and if you do any of those things, if you teach anything religious, if you instruct or counsel anything religious you're not eligible was under the Biden administration. Now what's interesting about this article, and this is highlighting their press release, is they point out that the Supreme Court actually ruled against that discrimination identifying it was unconstitutional, and it did not stop the Biden Administration from enforcing it. And guys, this does bring up a little bit of a point in case in this moment where often, as we have heard, the other side accused president Trump of being a king, of being a dictator, of et cetera, et cetera. The reality is, and we have known this, we've said this to many people, more times than not, the others side accuses you of what they're guilty of. And the other site literally was ignoring the Supreme Court saying, you can't discriminate against people of religious faith. Again, the good news in the midst of this is there has been a reversal. SBA spokeswoman Maggie Clemens said the SBA is ending the era of weaponized government that under the last administration banned religious organizations from receiving SBA loans. The agency is committed to ensuring that all eligible Americans, regardless of their religious affiliation, can access our programs, especially in times of disaster, Clemens says. As explained in the SBA release, the Center for Faith, and the Center Never faith is what they're acknowledging in the midst of this. Not only they're not gonna be hostile to religion, but they're now gonna have a Center for Faith. So I'm going down to the last paragraph I'll read or the last sentence I'll read it says, as explained in the SBA release, the Center for faith will be housed within SBA's Office of Economic Development and will focus on building partnerships with faith-driven organizations to increase awareness and access to SBA services, including disaster recovery. So the really good news in the myths of this, is not only have they removed this Biden rule that discriminates against religious organizations, they're actually saying, we have now a center for faith. And part of their directive is to make sure that we are connecting with these organizations because again, as we know, when a disaster hits, usually the groups and organizations that are helping that are doing the most and oftentimes could use the most money are the religious organizations are the faith-based organizations because that's the whole imperative of why we believe we exist is to help people around us. To share the gospel with people and the fact the SBA has reversed course is really good news.

Rick Green [00:22:21] Yeah, it just shows the level of hostility against religion and hostility against faith and these organizations, you know, even we saw it with the adoption and just all kinds of things like that, where they quite literally were keeping the money from the people that were doing the best job when they got the money. Like you said, Tim, it's almost without fail that the most effective, the fastest, the best trained, the ones that do it with the most love and care when it comes to responding to the disasters. Faith-based organizations, the adoption agencies, you go right down the list. It's why, when you think about it, it's why biblically churches are tax-exempt. It's way in America it's been tax exemption for non-profits and people that are doing that because they're serving the community. They're making it better. Anyway, just really, really good news. All right, David, take us home, man. Last piece of good news today.

David Barton [00:23:10] Well, this one comes out of D.C. Related to the Defense Department and the Defense Department back, I guess, five, six weeks ago, the president made an announcement that he had he had nominated Buzz Donnelly as the head of the seventh fleet, the naval fleet, that's the largest, that's a largest fleet that we have anywhere in the world for for US Navy. And Buzz Donnely had been the commander of the USS Ronald Reagan and now has been. Nominated to be elevated to all of the 7th fleet. And so with this going on, one of the things that started happening back with Biden was back in, I guess it's two years ago now, Tommy Tuberville, the Senator from Alabama held up some of Biden's stuff. He put a block on the Defense Department and he would not let any promotions go through the Defense department. So Buzz Donnelly was one of guys that Tubervil put a a block to keep him from and promoted. And that's because Tuberville was objecting to Biden administration of abortions in the military, giving months off for those who had abortions and paying for the abortions and paying for the travel and all the money. And Tubervil said, I'm not doing that. I'm gonna use taxpayer money to do that. And I'm going to object by holding up promotions in the Military. So what happens is that when this nomination came forth and the criticism happened two years ago, also included some other stuff turned out that on the USS Ronald Reagan, they had what was called a morale welfare and recreation event. And on the Ronald Reagan which I don't know how many thousands of troops are on there, but they had a drag show there. One of the, one of the Yeoman, uh, performed as a, as a female under the name Harpy Daniels. And they had this, this big drag show on the uss Ronald Reagan. And so this was under the commander that Trump has nominated to be head of the Seventh Fleet. And Daily Caller just simply asked, hey, is this the same guy? Are you not making the guy that had the drag show? And what happened was Heseth looked at it and said, hey, that's not going to work. And so they've now withdrawn his name. He is not going be promoted. He's not gonna get that fleet. He's now going to the next level because that is not what the military is about. It's not social programs. It's there to defend the United States and not to be a social experimentation. So I think that's really good news that the military is starting to get back to being hopefully the most lethal military anywhere in the world and remembering what its mission is. And kudos to both Trump and Hegseth for being willing to pull back saying, Hey, that was a mistake on our part. We didn't know that happened, but we're not going to, we're not going reward that behavior, even though it was a few years ago. Good news.

Rick Green [00:25:59] What a difference guys. I mean, think about how many times in the last 20, 30 years you had things like this and the quote unquote politicians wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Not just on the, you know, before that transgender issue to be all kinds of other issues, but it was like, you know, even something like this, they would just not, they would not dare withdraw that or, you know, cause the stir because they didn't want to take the heat. And there's just such a different attitude right now, such a boldness, so thankful for the leadership change. God really has given us. Reprieve here and some really positive things are happening more good news next Friday. Don't forget don't miss that for sure Have a fantastic weekend Monday. We got Jack Hibbs will be with us here on the wall builder show and lots of great programming for you Next week, so have a great weekend, and we'll see you next week. You've been listening to the WallBuilders Show
