Tonight on Cigars Daily LIVE 438, Michael Herklots of Ferio Tego Cigars is joining us in the studio—and there may not be anybody in this industry who thinks more deliberately about the experience of a cigar.
Michael is not new to this world. His career stretches back more than two decades through Davidoff, Nat Sherman, and now Ferio Tego. But what makes him especially interesting to me is the way he approaches the craft. Every detail appears to have a purpose. The tobacco, the proportions, the presentation, the language surrounding the blend, and even the moment in which somebody eventually experiences it all have to work together.
Tonight, I want to get inside that process. How does he decide what a cigar is supposed to become? When is a blend actually finished? What separates complexity from chaos? How much should a maker trust his own palate, and how much should he listen to the marketplace? We’ll also talk about building Ferio Tego, preserving the legacy of brands like Timeless and Metropolitan, and creating something new without treating the past like it never happened.
