A single trigger can make you question everything: Am I really healed? Did God really deliver me? Why does my body still react like it's happening right now?

In this episode, I share a surprising personal testimony about how a routine medical exam uncovered a hidden trigger I thought had already been healed. What followed was a powerful encounter with Jesus that revealed the root of the issue and brought freedom in real time.

You'll learn how to stop viewing triggers as setbacks and start seeing them as invitations to deeper healing. Plus, I'll walk you through a simple four-step process to help you partner with God when triggers arise so you can finally experience the freedom Jesus has for you.

In this episode you'll learn:

  • how to actually heal triggers God’s way
  •  why insight alone does not create change
  • how a trigger can become an invitation from God
  • the difference between coping tools and lasting freedom
  • renewing the mind as both Scripture and brain science (Romans 12:2)
  • how to trace triggers to the root with the Holy Spirit
  • why PTSD is not a life sentence

You’ll also get a clear, practical pathway to move through triggers in real time: submit to God, trace the trigger with the Holy Spirit, release it and restore what feels depleted through Scripture and worship.

What’s one trigger you’re ready to bring to Jesus today?

When Insight Still Feels Stuck

SPEAKER_01

This is gonna help you if you have been super stuck, and if maybe you're very insightful, you know what the problem is. One thing that is super interesting about the ladies that the Lord sends me as a therapist and a mentor is the you ladies know, like you know, I'm talking to the one person, you know what the problem is, it's not a lack of knowledge, right? If the word of God says when people perish for a lack of knowledge, in many cases, you know that there's a problem. You know that maybe your the way you show up in marriage is not right. You know that perhaps you are not gentle with your kids and you hate that about yourself. You know that perhaps you're not leading well in the workplace. You know that you will have a problem, you're willing to admit that you're not lying to yourself about yourself, and that's a powerful thing, and I love that. But what do you do when the knowledge of the problem isn't enough? I'm going to help you in this episode get through to the other side of that. You're gonna get your solution, and we're gonna do it very quickly. Hey, welcome back to a new creation podcast with Jamise Lachelle. I'm a faith-based trauma therapist pointing you toward victory in Christ, one Jesus story at a time. You're in the right place if you're done feeling stuck and you're ready to form better relationships with God, yourself, and others. So pull up a seat to the table, sis. You belong here. Let's go.

Opening Prayer And Why We Pray

SPEAKER_01

It's been about two years since I have been podcasting. This is my first year or season, if you will, adding video to this. So thank you for flowing with me as we figure this thing out together in the Holy Ghost. Uh, because this is kind of you know, I'm just rolling with it. Um, but in my previous podcast, we would always pray before we got into the the episode, and then we would pray at the very end. So I want to pray for us before we get started. Is that okay? Gracious and heavenly father, I just thank you for the person listening to me right now. I ask that you would just um clear the space around us, Lord Jesus, clear away distractions, Lord God, all those things that clog our minds and our ears, Lord Jesus, whispering it to our ears and like the thoughts that pass through our minds. Jesus, I know that there's there's information that you have for the listener today, and I ask that you would do it all you can do and just be a guard, be a hedge of protection around this time and space, Lord. And we thank you for what you're gonna do together. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen. I love that. I love that about something unique about my work, and something that uh the women who come to me, they say they really appreciate is that even on our therapy sessions, the women who want prayer, they get prayer. Like we pray before the session and we pray at the end, and I'm very real about that because what's the point of having a Christian counseling agency when you're not putting Christ in it? Um, I never for those who come to me as a therapist, I'm not quote unquote like forcing my religion on you, but if you're coming to me in my work, I'm very bold about the fact that I serve Jesus, and this is a Christian faith-based agency, and therefore we keep God in everything that we do here. So like it or hate it, but uh, but it's not changing. So, anyways, um, let's talk about this. We're gonna talk a little bit about nervous system regulation, we're gonna talk about it from a Christian perspective, and I'm excited because it's actually gonna change your life. So, let's talk about um where do I even want to jump on? I think I better jump in

A Mammogram Follow Up And A Trigger

SPEAKER_01

like this. So, I put on my social media, I shared a story of what happened to me after I got a follow-up mammogram. So, I have been putting off a mammogram checkup for uh quite a while just because I didn't want to go. And um, that's its own story for another day. No fear around anything being uh an issue with me health-wise. I just I don't like going to the doctor, and uh it's a thing, and you know, I've gone through levels of healing with the Lord about that, and there's reasons for it. I know part in part I was thinking maybe this is because uh a couple years back I went through a very intense time where my mother and father they passed away back to back. I I mean I buried one parent a few weeks later, I was burying a second parent, and it was very traumatic. And I said, well, you know, maybe it's because just being in hospitals and being in doctors' offices, like maybe that's the trigger for me, Lord. You know, I've gotten to the point in Jesus where I'm not afraid of looking at my triggers and things head on. I'm not afraid of what he has to show me, even if it doesn't make me feel good. I want, I want to see what he sees. And if there's something going on with me that is not, well, I want to not lie about that, right? We gotta get to the place in the Lord where we are not going to hide our hide our head in the sand. We are instead gonna look at it head on. We have to get to that point, and it's beautiful. As I was saying at the start of this episode, the women who see who he sends to me are at that place. Like you're very insightful. I love that. I love that when you come to me, you have a lot of good insight about who you are and how you know what the problem is, etc. etc. So I'm like, okay, what is this? And so, anyways, long story short, I ended up going to this appointment because it's good and everything checked out fine. Praise the Lord, no issues there, as I expected. But what did occur was um they so I got the mammogram, and then immediately after that they wanted an ultrasound because like the angle of the mammogram, uh, I can't believe I'm talking this much about my mammogram, but the things we do for the Lord, right? The the angle of the mammogram, there was like a lymph node that they wanted a closer look at to make sure it wasn't something else, and so of course it was not something else. Praise the Lord Jesus, and um they're refined with that. But here's the thing: I was very triggered because the ultrasound tech was a man, the mammogram tech was a female, but the person doing the ultrasound this time was a man, and I was so shocked because in inside of my body I could feel my nervous system respond to that. And what was shocking is because I have done extensive work. I mean, I am a trauma therapist, right? You don't get to this place ideally, you're not you're not working in trauma if you have not addressed your own trauma. We have to be able in this particular role to pour out from a uh a full a full cup, right? There's many times where the Lord Jesus will have you pour from an empty vessel. That's saying that uh the Lord won't give you more than you asked for, it's a lie. That's saying that we have to be full ourselves before we can pour out. That's a lie because my Bible says that I can do all things through Christ who gives me the strength, and that when I'm weak, I'm strong. That means I don't that means I don't necessarily have to be feeling like I'm full in order to pour. If he sent me, that is enough to know that I can pour. But I will say the caveat being, and this particular work, uh, in order to serve my clients well, I need to be in a good, like a healthy state. Any trauma therapist that you go to needs to be giving you therapy from a state of wellness, not a state of, you know, they're they are so traumatized. You get what I'm saying? So I have already done extensive work, which is why I have so much compassion for the lady sitting across to me. So I know that that journey is is difficult sometimes. I just uh it's such an honor. Um, so when I say that, you know, I I was surprised because I have done so much work. That's what I mean. I have done my work, girl. Like I have been through rounds, I've been through at least three rounds of very extensive trauma therapy, um, and all that. So, like, and I feel well, right? I don't feel as though I'm walking around as a traumatized person. I feel in a spot where I can actually serve women now and help reach my hand out and pull pull y'all back from the fire, and that's a beautiful thing. But the Lord taught me something because I don't know, he just showed me that as I was triggered, it was a man, there was this like a little itty bitty bitty bitty bit still of healing that he needed to do. And I guess I'm sharing this episode and being so transparent with you because very many times I sit in session with women and you they are ashamed, and maybe you have felt this ashamed because it has been 15 years since the traumatic event happened, like you don't feel like you're past it. It has been 10 years since that trauma occurred, but then you see a picture or you smell a smell, and it all comes rushing back to you like it just happened, and then this wave of shame comes in, like, oh my goodness, I should be past this, and all of this kind of you don't call it this at the time, but it's self-condemnation begins to wash over you because you're questioning now, why am I not further along? Am I really healed? Do I even really know Jesus? Did I really get touched by God? Did Jesus really give me deliverance? All of these things begin to to play out because your nervous system is responding to a trigger, and that's what happened to me today. And in an instance,

Triggers As An Invitation Not A Threat

SPEAKER_01

um, because you know I have done so much work, I have learned that when triggers happen, that it is not an invitation for me to go into my sympathetic hot nervous system state where you're in fight, flight, or freeze or shutdown mode, that it's no longer an invitation to do that. That is typically the default thing that your nervous system is telling you to do. But I have learned that when we are triggered, it's actually an invitation. It's an invitation. So, right there, sitting in the seat with um the hospital gown on, while the mammogram tech is typing in her computer, telling me that we're about to go in the next room so that this man can do my ultrasound and she'll be sitting in there with me. And uh, so I'm like processing this with the Lord because I can feel it in my body, something raised up in my nervous system. Has that ever happened to you? Because I knew it was an invitation. Very quickly, I um the next moment where she stepped out, I went into prayer. And this is the beautiful thing about us as believers everywhere we go becomes an altar to God because guess what? We are the temple of the Lord. He has chosen to make his home in us, so that means anywhere I go, the kingdom of God is at hand. Anywhere you go, woman of God, the kingdom of God is with you, and so in that moment, I just simply check in with the Lord. What's going on? I feel this coming up in my nervous system. What is this? It surprises me because I'm just like talking out loud to the Lord like this. It surprises me because I have done a lot of work, I don't really have a lot of triggers anymore. I'm surprised this is here, Lord. What is it? And I he I breathe through that, and he, you know, assured me he was with me. We got through the ultrasound, it was fine. I wasn't, you know, it was fine. The ultrasound came out fine, but I was like, man, what is that? I get I get back to the parking lot.

Healing Now Versus Coping Forever

SPEAKER_01

I'm sitting in the car afterwards, like, Lord, we have to deal with this because I need you to know something where the uh secular world or pop psychology will tell you that you have to spend a lot of time on a healing journey. I know that that's not true. In Jesus Christ, it takes one moment, one encounter with him will change your absolute entire life. If you don't believe me, go read about the man with allegiance, go read about the woman at the well, go read read about the blind man. It takes one moment with Jesus Christ. He may choose to take you through a process, and it may seem longer than you want it to take, but I know in my mind and in my heart that healing does not have to be a journey. That's a belief that's so deep down inside of me, you can't steal that away from me. I've experienced it, and so I said, Lord, I know that I don't have to deal with this and drag this out in another, you know, 13 sessions of therapy. Can we deal with this now? Of course, the answer is yes, and it's the same for you.

SPEAKER_00

You have to decide that you matter enough to God for A, Him to talk to you, and B, for him to help you in real time.

SPEAKER_01

I was sharing with someone just the other day, I love being a therapist, but don't get it twisted. I understand that Jesus is the answer, therapy is just a tool, right? It's a powerful tool, and it's why he sent me into the uh the field, he sent me into the marketplace to reach women like you who need the Holy Ghost and you need a therapist to hold your hand. You know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_00

So, in that parking lot, I thought, Lord, let's deal with this. Let's deal with this. I want to ask you a question. I want to ask you a question. Do you believe that you can actually live free from trauma triggers?

SPEAKER_01

Because I understood that I was triggered, and I understood that I don't have to live like that. Jesus, while he gives you um strategies, and he is so gentle and kind, and there are copious amounts of tools that we can use to cope. It is not his intention for you to have to cope through this life on this earth, it is his intention for you to reign here. It isn't his intention for you to have the abundant life here. Okay, he's he said in his word, beloved, I wish that you would prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. But I know that I don't want to live the rest of my life in bondage to triggers, and I have gotten so much freedom from triggers. So when this came up, I understand that it's an invitation. It's an invitation, Lord. Can we deal with this? Do you believe that you can heal through triggers and that they are no longer a trigger for you? Do you believe you can get free from that? What you believe is what you will experience, and this is not new age, it's not new thought. And I've really struggled with this, and I'm uh maybe being too transparent and sharing this, but I'm really working out with the Lord about just the nuance because I hate new thoughts. I hate new age. Um, I fell into that.

SPEAKER_00

It's a lie, it's a deception, and it's gonna send you to hell if you're believing like that. It is what it is.

SPEAKER_01

I hate it, and I've been working with the Lord about the nuance between okay, the reality that I know that things like CBT, um, where you are are doing cognitive behavi cognitive behavioral therapy, it it works. And where's the line between like that and and new thought? And he's giving me language for this, and and we're working this out in real time. But I I I guess I bring it back to my point of this. The things that you are believing are the things that you're gonna live out, and our our minds are created and such to sort of validate those things that we're believing. If I believe that all men are dangerous, I'm then gonna live that out. I'm going to live that out in my body, I'm gonna live that out in my nervous system, I'm gonna live that out when Joe Bob, my next door neighbor, comes over to mow my lawn, just to be a uh a neighbor, to be a loving neighbor, and I'm going to get traumatized all over again because I have formed that belief. You get what I'm saying? If I don't want to feel that way, if you don't want to feel that way, you can change what you're thinking. You can change what you're thinking, and in doing so, this is brain science.

SPEAKER_00

In doing so, you're also gonna find that you are eventually gonna change what you're experiencing.

SPEAKER_01

This is not manifestation, this is brain science.

Romans 12 And Renewing The Mind

SPEAKER_01

This is not manifestation, this is the Bible in um Romans chapter 12 verse 2. Let me get myself organized here. I got a very little workspace that I'm working with here in my little office. Okay, Romans chapter 12. Let's start at one, let's just start at the beginning. Um, the heading says living sacrifices to God in my Bible. It says uh 12, verse 1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Verse 2, and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Would you believe me if I told you that brain science is in the Bible? Science is catching up to God, to what the Word of God has already revealed to us. The word of God tells us that as we renew our minds, our life is transformed. Um, as we renew our minds, we are transformed. It says, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. As we renew our mind, we are transformed. So if you want transformation, guess what? The Bible says in plain it's the renewal of your mind. And how do we do that? So as we're pertaining, as we are speaking about trauma healing, okay, we're gonna renew our minds, therefore, by the way that we're thinking, by what is coming out of our heart. If out of the heart flow the issues of life, right, then that therefore means that when I'm triggered, there's something going on in my heart. When I'm triggered, there's something about my side of the street that I gotta deal with with Jesus. And here's the thing: many of you coming for help, you need to understand this. You're not like um, you're not a failure for being unable to get over this on your own. I work with very high functioning, high achieving Christian women, and you can do so much. You can run a multi-billion dollar business, you can have employees, you are making tons of money in your industry, you are producing tons of change in your ministry, you are doing so much, but then there's this one area where you just cannot push your way through. And I want to tell you that it's not because you're a failure, it's not because you're not doing enough, it's because there is a submission that has to happen first, where you have to submit your mind to Jesus so that he can do his work in you. It is not about you stepping in and doing the right things, it's about Jesus stepping in and producing that change in you.

SPEAKER_00

Does that make sense? So by the renewing of your mind, by the renewing of your mind, uh, that's how these uh triggers are going to change.

SPEAKER_01

That's how you're gonna get to the place where you believe that you can be free from trauma triggers for real. They don't have to impact you the whole rest of your life.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe God knows what science is catching up to, but what we think has a profound impact on how we live. What do you think about that?

SPEAKER_01

So I want to give you in just a few easy steps how do we actually get past these

Submit Trace Release Restore

SPEAKER_01

triggers? So, step number one is you set medit to God. He is the one who has the power to heal, he is the one who has the power to change. This is Something where a lot of women can struggle with who come to me in my work, you know how to accomplish so much, but you can't accomplish this in your strength. It is the strength of God who is gonna heal you. Okay, you have to submit to God, you have to present yourself a living sacrifice to come. And what that looks like, I'll use my personal example today. It looks like presenting myself sitting in a parking lot of a hospital outside of the uh place where I was getting my mammogram. I'm sitting in the parking lot in the parking garage. I submit myself to God, and it's I it sounds like Lord, I was triggered. I want to be for real with you about it. I'm not lying to myself about it. I'm not gonna act like it didn't happen, I'm not gonna fight, flight, or freeze. I'm going to give this to you because I recognize something in me felt unsafe. One, you submit to God and you be very honest with him. The next thing that you're gonna do is trace your triggers. And this is the part where it takes a yielding to the Holy Spirit. You have to believe the word where God tells us, Jesus, this is Jesus speaking, red letters. He says, My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me. One of the biggest lies that the devil tells people is that you can't hear from God. And we see in the word, Jesus is telling you that if you're his sheep, you do hear his voice. He knows you, you follow him, and that's that, right? It doesn't take an um act of faith to believe that. Maybe it does. Maybe it does take an act of faith to believe the word. Maybe it takes childlike faith to believe that. Maybe that's the answer for you. You you need to step into childlike faith that because he said it, it's true. So even if you feel like you can't hear from God, you say no, Lord, you open up your Bible, Lord Jesus. You say right here in the Bible that you know me. You said, I hear your voice, therefore, I hear your voice. I declare that I hear your voice. I know I hear your voice, Lord. Speak, your servant is listening, and then you shut up and you listen. That's what you do. You shut up and you listen. And as you develop this practice, uh, let's call it practicing his presence, it's gonna be so natural for you. And maybe in the beginning, it might feel awkward if you were not in the habit of actually talking to God. Many times we launch a prayer up to heaven and um like a machine gun, and then we go on about our busy day, and there's nothing necessarily wrong with that, but the word tells us that he knows what we need already. We don't have to pray like that. Prayer is supposed to be a conversation with God, and so where the second step is to trace your triggers, you're gonna need the Holy Spirit to help you do that. You're gonna say, Lord, show me where this came from. Where's the entry point? Where society is often looking at symptoms and trying to do coping strategies to like deal with your symptoms. The Lord is looking at the root, he's looking at your heart, he's looking at the source. He does not want you to be picking out bad fruit all the time off of the tree. You'll be doing that the rest of your life. What he would rather do is get down to the deep roots of where this thing came in and wrecked your nervous system. Let's uproot that in the name of Jesus. Ask the Lord, trace this trigger, Lord, where did this come from? In my situation, I thought that it came in from when I was in my 20s and I went to the Planned Parenthood um for I was not a believer. I mean, I was, but I wasn't. I believed in Jesus, but I wasn't following him. I was like far from God. And I know somebody's wondering, why were you at the Planned Parenthood? I think I was getting like a pap smear. I was just getting a um, yeah, just getting a routine pap. And I uh went to the Planned Parenthood and it was a male physician and he molested me. And I'm not going to like go into details about that, right? But he fondled me. And um, I didn't know that there that was I I was so naive, I didn't know that that was not normal. And there was a m there was a female nurse, but she was at such an angle that she couldn't see what he was doing, and it was anyways. I thought that's where it came from, that this thing about me seeing a male to do my ultrasound on my on my breast. And do you know that the Holy Spirit said no, Jimmy? He said, That's not it. He said, He took me all the way back to when I was about 16 years old, and I had a negative experience with a nurse practitioner who um I had to see because I could not get in with my primary care doctor. So I saw this nurse practitioner because I was having some issue going on with my pelvic region, and instead of her listening to me about what I was there for, she kind of came in with an angle. Like she was not believing me. She kept questioning me about if I was sexually active, and I was like, no, like I'm I'm literally not. Um I'm just I'm a virgin, and I uh, you know, that's not why I'm here. But I could see from her line of questioning that she just wasn't believing me, and I internalized something about that. I began to tell myself something about that. I adopted a belief about that. Okay, the Holy Spirit took me all the way back there, and I just wept and wept and wept there in the parking garage as he was bringing this up, showing me where this nervous system response actually originated from. It wasn't all the trauma, it wasn't the sexual abuse, yeah. That was part of it, but it had a root, it came in through a uh the gate of like a fear of medical people, just in general, because of what happened to me when I was 16. And I remember at the time, like I did get vindication because my primary care doctor found out about it and he was mad. He was like, Why would she do that? What she ended up doing was like sending me off to get like SCD testing, and I was like, why am I doing this? Like, I know that you know, and I just went along with it. Uh, maybe there was a little bit of fear of man at the time. I don't know. Like, I was not as bold as I am today. But I internalized her negative beliefs, whether they were, whether it was right or wrong, like this woman was probably not trying to harm me. Uh, she was probably maybe doing an abundance of caution. I'm sure she had an experience where teenagers came into her her um office and lied, right? And maybe she was coming from that. But I took on a belief system and I took on this identity of like shame and I don't know, it was just all this kind of stuff. It get it got lodged in my heart, it got lodged in my nervous system, and I did not know it. Okay, I that was well over 20 years ago. I had no idea that that was something I was still carrying. The Holy Spirit brought it up, and so that that's why the step step number two is so important. The first thing we do is we submit to God, the next thing we do is we trace our triggers. It's so important because if you go based on your understanding, you'll go your whole your whole life not knowing where this came from. You're gonna go your whole life shrinking back or having triggers and hating it and then stuffing them away because it's uncomfortable. That's not how the Lord wants you to live. He wants you to live free.

SPEAKER_00

You don't have to carry your triggers. So right there, right there in the parking lot, the Lord healed me.

SPEAKER_01

I began to uproot this. He began to work in my heart. I'm just crying, crying, crying, bawling as he is um healing me of this. And that brings me to the third step that you're gonna do. Once you submit to God, once you trace your triggers, the next thing you're gonna do is release it. You're gonna release it however he says. So, in my case, I needed to offer forgiveness to that woman, to the nurse practitioner. This is how the Lord had me to forgive. I forgive, I I called her out by name, and um I said, Lord, I forgive her out of my mind, I forgive her out of my heart, I forgive her out of my muscle memory, I forgive her out of my soul, I forgive her out of my gut, I forgive her. I release this woman into the freedom of my forgiveness. I forgive her, I forgive her. And in some cases, the Lord may ask you to fast because maybe forgiving this person is so hard. You need to understand like even if you forgive this person, it is not absolving them from their responsibility to still go and repent, right? The you need to trust that God is gonna deal with the individual. Vengeance belongs to Him. What is yours is to do what He said, and that is to forgive 70 times seven. I don't always necessarily love it that He says that we have to do like that. You know what I mean? Can we be for real? But He He knows better than us. We have to forgive because we can't bear the weight of not forgiving them. How dare we hold on to unforgiveness when it is our sin that put Jesus on the cross? How dare, how dare you hold on to unforgiveness toward any person when you have sinned against the Lord and it is your sin that he forgave on the cross. We have to forgive, and so it is a beautiful thing when you're triggered because you don't know necessarily what that trigger is linked to. You don't know, and we don't want to live like that. I am telling you, after I did this work with Jesus, with the Holy Spirit, I am so free. Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. There's so much freedom that you have in Jesus that we leave on the table because we do not take his invitation to go there with him, to go to the depths with him. The beautiful thing about Jesus is he's so willing to take us deep. But the deeper that you go in Jesus, you you can't take everything with you. The deeper you go with him, the less you get to take with you. You're gonna have to drop your baggage at the gate. You're gonna have to drop it off and say, Jesus, I I forgive. You're gonna have to take it off like a garment. You're gonna have to take it off, okay? You're gonna have to like, come on, you're gonna have to take it off and say, Lord, I I don't want to carry this anymore. There is freedom. There is freedom in doing this. So, in my case, that's where my trigger led me to. It led me to have to do deep forgiveness work. And in most women's cases, that's probably what's gonna come up is forgiveness work. It might be even forgiveness towards yourself, it may be something else. But the beautiful thing is because you can hear the Lord, he's gonna tell you exactly what your step three is. He's gonna tell you exactly how to release that and what that's gonna look like for you. The last thing that you're gonna do, maybe as a step number four, is like receive and like integrate. Doing deep trauma work can feel like I don't know how to say this. It can feel like you're just excavating your heart. It could feel like I don't know, it could feel like very exposing. I think it's important to therefore make sure that we are also like receiving and pouring back. And how do we do that? We grab hold of the word of God, which tells us that every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places has been given to us, we grab hold of that, and you just do that by faith. I love being a believer because it's so easy for us. He said we have to have faith to believe that he is like without faith, it's impossible to please God just by simple faith in Jesus. Grab hold of it, Jesus. You have given me every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. I grab hold of that now, I receive that. You said I have every spiritual blessing in the heavenly place. Fill me up now, oh God. Fill me up with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. I believe that, oh God. And you just receive and you'll just pray out as the Lord is leading you. But I think that's very important. So to um quickly uh recap how do you actually do this? The first thing you're gonna do is submit to God. You're gonna present your thing to the Lord, you're gonna present your trigger to Jesus. You're gonna surrender, you're gonna submit that. The next thing you're gonna do is trace your triggers. Where did it come from? You're gonna ask the Lord to show you. And then the third thing you're gonna do is release it. That's gonna look like forgiveness for many. It may look like something else. It may look like prayer and fasting, it may look like something else. You're just gonna listen to whatever the Lord tells you to do. And the fourth thing that you're gonna do is restore. You're gonna restore and just let him restore you. You're gonna put on scripture that is telling you about who you are in him, you're gonna put on worship music that is telling you who he is. You're going to get yourself filled up so that you're not feeling very depleted after this very deep work, which it is very, very deep work.

PTSD Is Not A Life Sentence

SPEAKER_01

I just want you to walk away knowing that you don't have to spend a lifetime in bondage to trauma triggers. You can be free from trauma. Where I remember sitting in a psychologist's office and like she was squirming um because she did not want to admit to me this was through the VA. I don't know if I'm supposed to like maybe be more discreet. I know that some people, some I look, I keep it real, y'all, as a therapist. Uh, I know some therapists are like very discreet, but I'm just gonna tell you how it is. I don't this just going in. I was uh going through um the VA system, and at the time they just really didn't want to admit about like PTSD because they would have to pay. Come on, they would have to pay. And um, I remember sitting with a psychologist about PTSD and um her just like I was questioning, can you be free from this? Like, can you does this diagnosis go away? And she was like squirming, she wouldn't let out tell me. But I believe this that any diagnosis that you get is not necessarily a life sentence. PTSD is not a life sentence. PTSD is not a life sentence. Somebody needs to hear that. You need to hear that. PTSD is not a life sentence, it's not. You don't have to live. I think like it's good to put a name to things so that you can name it and deal with it in the name of Jesus, right? Uh, but there's freedom for you if you hold on to Jesus and let him lead you. Don't you go striving? He may want to walk you through a process, but if you want that freedom and that healing, he has it, you know, and let him lead you into it in Jesus' name. So, anyways, I'm a little all over the place in this episode. Um, I just wanted to share that and I pray that this was a blessing for you. Let's pray.

Prayer For Freedom And Next Steps

SPEAKER_01

I want to pray for you if you are someone who is dealing with this. Let's do that now, Heavenly Father, Lord God. We come to you in the matchless name of our Lord Jesus. Lord, I just lift up this one, God. I know there's many listening to this podcast, but I'm speaking to the one. Lord God, I'm coming to you, touching and agreeing with the one, Lord Jesus, whom you have sent here to get this word, God. And I pray for her in the name of Jesus, God. I pray that this would be a day of reckoning for her, a day of freedom, Lord Jesus. I pray that you would touch her in the mind, Lord God, that she would understand that whom the Son sets free is free indeed. And there is freedom for her, Lord God. I pray that you would bring um any triggers to her mind and heart in a safe way, Lord Jesus. Let her be um in a place of safety. Let her know that as she decides to go deeper in her trauma healing work, that you're gonna provide help and helpers, Lord Jesus. I pray right now that you would release destiny helpers, Lord God, to bless this one to uh walk with her as she goes deeper in her journey of wherever you're taking her, Lord. Is this healing that you're taking her on? Maybe there's um maybe she thinks that it's a healing journey she has to go on when the reality is that you have gifts for her, you have uh destiny for her, you have mission work for her, and she needs to get through this in order to access that, Lord God. This is the little thing, this is a light thing for you to do. There's a massive calling on her life, and that is what you're after, Lord God. I pray, Lord Jesus, that you would strengthen and sustain her as she prepares for this next work, Lord Jesus. Oh Lord God, be her strength, and we just bless you. We praise you, Lord God, we thank you. I ask you just wash her from the top of her head to the bottoms of her feet in the name of Jesus, God, which is send your Holy Spirit to burn in her, but you're consuming fire, Lord God, and burn in her heart and burn in her hands, Lord God, and just burn in the name of Jesus. You said in your word, you are a consuming fire, Lord God. Consume every bit of her that doesn't look like you, consume her, Lord Jesus, until she burns like you, Lord God, with the glory of God, that her life is marked by fire and glory, Lord Jesus. Thank you, Jesus, that what she's going through, Lord God, is for your glory. You're gonna get the glory out of her story. Thank you for the transformation on the other side of this, Lord God. We're not waiting for you to touch and heal. We know that we have it now. Who the sun sets free is free indeed. I ask that you would renew her mind. But she believes that.
