The outside by Taylor swift written at age 12 stands as a Testament to her introspective, songwriting, prowess, and emotional depth even at a young age. In this song of vulnerability shines through, as she explores the themes of somehow feeling incredibly lonely while in the middle of a crowded room due to choosing a path less traveled. In her case, this path leads to superstardom. But unfortunately for a young Taylor though, that meant she had nobody her age who could empathize with what she experienced. To top that all off, she felt like a giant in her class as she towered over the other students. Feeling like she didn't fit in anywhere in her life taylor, again, at age 12. Tapped into a feeling of hopelessness. One feels when, on the outside with nowhere to go or hope changing their situation. Hi, there it's time for another deep dive into delusion with your host and fellow unstable genius, Cassandra wild. Before we get into the analysis of this song. We want to think that seven people who bought our very first puzzle book. Decoding Taylor swift, 1989 starry nights, exclusively on Amazon. Midnight mayhem math and meaning is now on sale on Amazon as well. We don't provide any answers in our books, so we would love feedback on how easy or hard your search for the answers are. So leave that information in the reviews, please. Now let's get back to the outside. In the beginning of the song, Taylor sets the scene. We learned that our young starlet had already found herself on the outside of social groups. Unable to understand why her. Peers didn't include her she makes the mistake of searching for the reason. She sings that she went looking for a reason instead of reading between the lines and figuring it out herself. From the tone of the song. It seems her peers thought her and her dreams too big and had a bit of jealousy of her life playing gigs on the weekend. Sadly, although she loved playing the gigs and whatnot, she didn't fit into this world either. Which meant she had nowhere to go where she felt comfortable in her own skin. She also seems a bit frustrated with how many rejections she had seen by the time she hit age 12. And both her personal and professional life. Taylor keeps trying to find acceptance, but it feels like nothing she does works caught in this cycle of wanting to fit in while not knowing how, because she can't learn how to fit in. If nobody shows her. This infinite cycle comes up later in her midnights album when she sings. Nobody wanted to play with me as a little kid. In this song, mastermind. The imagery she invokes in the outside, contradicts the imagery. She invokes later in the Eras tour, as well as music videos from the midnights album. Here's she says the view on the outside. Look it in quote the best view because she can still see the people on the inside. Later in the air is tour. The Taylor swift characters find themselves trapped inside a see-through cage or glass coffin. From the outside, looking in. To the inside looking out. No matter how one looks at it. She experiences extreme loneliness as nobody else will have nearly the life she does. In an extrovert tailor expresses her frustration that everyone sees her despair and desire to fit in. Yet, nobody reaches out to her. If only they knew how badly she needed them and that she would give up everything, her weekends at the honky-tonks whatever, if she had something else to do like hanging out with friends. The song gets a bit dark here and may even explore the theme of suicide due to the feeling of loneliness and loss of hope that anything will change. People could always reach out at any time, but rarely help or even notice until the despair becomes too great to do anything. Taylor repeats the chorus two times before ending the song. This reminds us that if only somebody had let her in, she would have been better. Does that in first you would change herself for them. Perhaps. But because nobody ever reached out to her, she never had a reason to change for people back then. How lucky are we that the haters never accepted Taylor swift giving her things to write about and the time to write them for all of our enjoyment. And now it's time to switch gears to the math portion. To be honest, the math doesn't seem to mean too much in this side. But we'd be remiss if we didn't at least pay attention to the length of the song and song number in case of pattern exists. The outside track six on Taylor's album. Her self-titled debut album. takes up three minutes and 29 seconds. Those numbers add two 14. To a nine equals 11 and we multiply that by three. We get that 33. Two times nine equates to 18. And when we multiply that by three, we get 54 or 27, which is three. To the third power. Doubled. Interestingly 11 times 11 divided by three is three and three quarters. And three quarters plays a role in other songs as we will see in the near future. Furthermore two times nine is 18. And divided by three, we get six. And like I said, the outside is these six songs on the album. Is this a coincidence? Or mastermind math. We provide the context. You decide for yourself? And of course we've decided that this proves yet again, that Taylor swift planned it all along and now like it or not, we're hers. Thank you so much for joining us here at decoding Taylor swift.
