This story has been everywhere, national news, ESPN, sports talk radio… As soon as I heard Parker Byrd’s story, I knew I wanted to meet the momma behind this young man whose story is impacting so many people! Parker is a baseball player at Eastern Carolina University and two weeks ago he took the field as the first amputee to ever play Division I baseball.
Parker was injured in a boating accident the summer before his freshman year and lost his lower leg. Told he was unlikely to ever take the field again, it was Parker’s mom Mitzi who inspired and challenged Parker to pave a road that no one had been down before.
