The Fuqua Show
E41 - Hispanic Heritage at Fuqua (Jessi Aguilar, Marielena Octavio, & Besith Pineda)
Jessi Aguilar, Marielena Octavio, and Besith Pineda (Class of 2024) all identify as Hispanic, with family roots in Mexico, Venezuela, and Guatemala. Though they share similar experiences (family immigration, learning English, giving back to their communities), they each bring unique and rich perspectives to Fuqua.
Jessi shares about integrating his culture at home and at work, doing advertising with Univision for Hispanic audiences.
Marielena discusses the complexities of her identity, as a white Latina from Venezuela who unexpectedly found herself living in the U.S.
Besith talks about "finding her place" - in the U.S., in the Hispanic community, and in the culture shock of business school.
This episode is a partnership with Fuqua's American Latinx Management Association (ALMA). Thanks to ALMA for your support, especially to current co-presidents Ashley Pech and Maria Castrillon (who introduce this episode).
