Humble Dependence & Saving Faith | Luke 18:9-30 | November 9, 2025 | Aaron T. Colyer
Saving faith isn’t achieved—it’s received. In this message we trace Jesus’ contrast between a boastful Pharisee and a repentant tax collector (vv. 9–14), His call to receive the kingdom like a child (vv. 15–17), and His challenge to the rich young ruler to treasure God above possessions (vv. 18–30). What’s impossible for us is possible with God (vv. 24–27). The invitation is simple and profound: come humbly, ask for mercy, and follow Jesus as worthy of it all (vv. 28–30).
Key Points
- Avoid self-righteousness; trust the cross, not yourself.
- Receive the kingdom with childlike dependence.
- Prioritize Jesus over every possession and plan.
- Ask God to do the impossible—He saves.
Next Step
Respond in prayer today: “God, have mercy on me, a sinner. I trust Jesus.”
