38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Hi everyone, it's Nancy with your Wednesday edition of our daily walk. Earlier this month we hit daylight savings time, and I have to admit I'm still adjusting to that change. And look at how our weather has been changing these past few days. It was in the mid to high 90s on Sunday, and then Monday evening I'm bringing in some tender plants in preparation for a light freeze. And as I was doing so, I was listening to predictions that we'll be back up in the 90s by this weekend. Talk about dealing with changes. And those aren't the only changes I'm facing. I imagine many of you are dealing with various life changes as well. Sometimes those changes are easy to work through, especially if we want them. Well, others are challenging. Some we celebrate, others we grieve. Do you find yourself as I do at times just wishing things could stay the same? Well, there's one thing we can count on never changing, and that is God. His love, his promises, his power, his faithfulness. God tells us in Scripture that His Word is eternal, unchanging, and absolute, standing forever while the world passes away. Listen to a few passages that talk about the unchanging nature of God's word. Isaiah 40, verse 8. The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever. Matthew 24, 35. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. Hebrews 13, verse 8 tells us Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Lamentations 3, verses 22 and 23 say, Because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. So what is God telling us? He does not change his character, his promises, or his purpose. His power and his love are everlasting. They remain constant no matter what changes are happening in our lives. I close with Romans 8, verses 38 and 39. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present or things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Now that, my friends, is a very place to hang our hope even in the midst of change as we stand firmly on His solid ground. Amen.
