14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.
Good morning, and thank you for beginning your day with us. This past Sunday, Pastor Aaron walked us through Nehemiah 3 and 4. In this, we saw many promises that we are to stand on, but it was the fifth one that Pastor Aaron mentioned that I really want to focus on this morning. Pastor Aaron made the point that everyone has a job to do. You see, as they were working together to rebuild the wall, every single one of them had a specific role that they were to play in the work that was to be done. But this is true for us today. As he was preaching, it made me think of 1 Corinthians chapter 12, and I want to read to you, starting in verse 14. It says this for the body does not consist of one member, but of many. If the foot should say, Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body, that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body, that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as He chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. You see, each and every one of us plays a unique role in the body of Christ. Each one of us has a gifting that's been given to us that if you are a believer in Christ, that the Holy Spirit has given you a gift that you are to use in the church to build up the church. Some people have the gift of teaching and they're to use that gift. Other people have the gift of hospitality and they're to use that gift. Other people have the gift of just serving, they're to use that gift. There's no one gift that is greater than the other. Yet we are to work together as believers to build up Christ's bride. And there's not any one of them that are better either. We shouldn't envy one another for the gifts that we have or the gifts that we don't have. We all work together. Just as the Israelites were working together to rebuild the wall, we are to work together to build up the church. And so my question to you this morning is do you know what your spiritual gift is? Have you ever taken a spiritual gift survey? If you haven't, I would strongly, strongly encourage you to take 5, 10, 15, even 30 minutes to take one of those so that way you can learn what your gift is and then figure out how I can use this gift that the Holy Spirit has given me in the church to help build it up. You can find a good survey just by simply Googling it. Um, Lifeway has a good one. I have a good one on my computer. If you want it, you can email me at Isaac at fbcwimberly.com and I would love to get it to you. Well, that's all that I have for you this morning. I hope that it was encouraging. May we strive to magnify Christ and share the gospel in our homes, the Wimberly Valley, and beyond. Peace.
