Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it. 2 For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened. 3 For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said,
“As I swore in my wrath,
‘They shall not enter my rest,’”
although his works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.” 5 And again in this passage he said,
“They shall not enter my rest.”
6 Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience, 7 again he appoints a certain day, “Today,” saying through David so long afterward, in the words already quoted,
“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.”
It's Pastor Aaron and welcome to your daily walk. Nehemiah chapter 10, back at it, and so good to be with our church family yesterday. Want to uh remind you, chapter 10 is all about a recommitment to the Lord. And uh the people in Nehemiah's day had said we make a solemn vow to follow the law, to sit under the law that Moses gave us, and and to uh look at things like pure marriage and Sabbath rest and temple ministry. Uh I I read a passage in Hebrews chapter four in regards to rest. And while I think all of us need to question are there areas of our life that need to be reoriented to better have a rhythm of rest, ultimately we need to remember that our final rest comes in Jesus. And he he has offered for us an eternal rest. Hebrews chapter 4 alludes to that in verse 1 through 3, and then I'll also read verse 6 and 7. It says this Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it. For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened. For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said, for that swore my wrath, they shall not enter my rest. Although his works were finished from the foundation of the world, for he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in which he said God rested on the seventh day from all of his works. And again, this passage he said, They shall not enter my rest, since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience. Again, he appoints a certain day, saying, Today, through David, so long afterward, in the words already quoted, Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts. So again, I'll remind you. Uh I got to read the whole passage, but verse two says, For for those united by faith, they listened and they took Jesus as the one who offers a final rest. I pray that that's you today. And I pray that you might send that message to somebody else that you love. Church family, I I really love getting together every single week. I cannot wait to gather with you again. God bless you. I'll see you soon.
