📖 The Story of Scripture — Day 124
“The Lord Is My Shepherd”
Psalm 23
David had faced lions… bears… giants… betrayal… caves… battles… and valleys most people would never survive. Yet when he reflects on his life, he doesn’t start with his victories… he starts with his Shepherd.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalm 23:1)
David understood something that many spend a lifetime trying to learn—real peace is not found in perfect circumstances… it’s found in the presence of a faithful Shepherd.
The Shepherd leads.
The Shepherd provides.
The Shepherd restores.
The Shepherd protects.
The Shepherd stays.
Even in green pastures… He is there.
Even beside still waters… He is there.
Even in the valley of the shadow of death… He is there.
Notice David didn’t say if I walk through the valley… he said though I walk through the valley. Valleys are part of the journey—but they are never the final destination for those who belong to the Shepherd.
And the reason David could face dark valleys without fear wasn’t because he was strong…
It was because he knew Who was walking with him.
The same Shepherd who leads in peace… also stands guard in pain.
And because of that…
You can rest.
You can trust.
You can keep walking.
Because when the Lord is your Shepherd… even your valleys have purpose.
