Your family’s past may influence you, but it does not have to define you.
In Ezekiel 18, God confronts Israel for blaming previous generations while refusing to acknowledge their own sin. A godly heritage cannot replace personal faith, and a painful heritage does not condemn us to repeat the same patterns.
Each of us must personally respond to God.
Your parents cannot believe for you.
Your family cannot repent for you.
Your past cannot excuse present rebellion.
But there is also extraordinary hope: God calls us to turn and live. Through Christ, our sins can be forgiven, our hearts can be made new, and our identity no longer has to be determined by what happened before.
You may have inherited the consequences of another person’s choices, but you do not have to continue their rebellion.
