Show Notes

Our first episode of 2024 is (finally) here, with enough sports talk and humour to keep you warm all month - or at least until the next TDIS episode arrives! For such an inhospitable weather day, there were plenty of amazing sports stories to discuss on this day - great content about household names like Dennis Rodman, Gordie Howe, LeBron James,  Abby Wambach and Ivan Lendl. Plus we dug around for great stories about things like the launching of the Golf Channel, the agony of the Cleveland Browns and the historic lawsuit of Curt Flood vs. MLB. On top of that, author Andrew Forbes (@utilityofboredom) joins the show to chat sports history and judge who won this episode's DORK DRAFT of which sports books we'd like to see written. Andrew has published several anthologies of baseball essays ("The Only Way is the Steady Way" and "The Utility of Boredom") and has more of them coming and is a uniquely qualified adjudicator for this one. Catch us on YouTube, Instagram (@thisdayinsports8) and anywhere you get your podcasts. We're like a warm, hearty bowl of chicken soup for a sports fan's funny bone. How's that for an analogy, Andrew?
