Are you trying to go at it alone in your entrepreneurial journey? Is the idea of being a 'self-made' trailblazer holding you back from the support you need? In this revealing discussion, I unravel the myth of the 'self-made millionaire' and underline the essential role of communities, masterminds, and coaching in advancing your business. I take you through my initial decision to do everything solo and how my perspective transformed when I joined a mastermind in 2019. We discuss why investing in your growth matters and why paying for it makes you pay attention.

When I first started this business, one of the things that I wanted to do was do it all alone, like I wanted to stick it to the man that I could do this and create this all by myself. And I realized that I truly believe there is not a self-made millionaire, whether you had a team or whether you paid some or you just had somebody for support, whether you paid them or it was free, it doesn't matter. Like I believe we get places and get where we want to go with community and with support and with raving fans or cheerleaders or friendships Like there are so many things that get us to where we want to go. I do not believe we just put our head down at our desk, work really hard, never look up, never communicate with anybody, and we do this all alone. But that was my idea when I first started this business. I was like I'm going to do this all by myself, I don't need anybody's help, blah, blah, blah. And I realized really quickly that I did and I joined a mastermind in 2019. And it was a beautiful, beautiful experience because I realized there's a community of people just like me. We all had different goals and we all had different businesses, but we all felt similar ways. We all wanted to grow and improve and I know 1,000% I wouldn't be where I'm at without putting myself in communities like this.
Speaker 1Now I am also in free communities and I believe that there is a benefit to them. However, no one's going to change my mind on this when you pay, you pay attention. When you actually pay, you're in it 100%. When that money is coming out of your bank account, you don't have time to waste. You're giving, you're receiving. There's so many beautiful things when this happens and I know for me, I will always do what I can to keep myself in those spaces. I may not always have a one-on-one coach, but I do believe that the coaching and the mentorship and the masterminding that happens in containers like this is a huge blessing and again has supported me. There was a study that was done that from people who made I think it was $10,000 to $30,000 a month and then like $50,000 and more a month in their business, and they all agreed that they got where they are at with group programs, with group mentorship, with group masterminds right, because it's not just one person's perspective, it's the collective, but again also seeing that other people are going through something that you're going through, and when I was very resistant to start a mastermind I call it an inner circle, but a mastermind in 2021. And I decided, okay, let's do this. Well, I decided at the end of 2020, let's do this.
Speaker 1And once I really I've acknowledged to myself how much it has supported me in my business I mean, I've been in I don't know eight different masterminds and how much they have supported me and how much I've grown and, like I used to say, like I'm never leaving, they're going to have to kick me out. I am glad that I've gotten to see a multiple variety of masterminds, because if I'm going to run them, I obviously want to know what's out there, what's possible. But it's taught me a lot too, because I've been in masterminds that have 150, 170 people in them and that's not a mastermind to me anymore. I want a very intimate, close community and when I joined a mastermind that only had six people in it like that was the cap I was like wait a minute, you can do this. This is beautiful. You mean, I don't have to have 25 people in my mastermind. This feels so freaking amazing. And so when not that I needed permission, but I needed to see it with my own eyes and be in it. And also being in a variety of interstitial masterminds has shown me what I love and what I don't love, and what I like and what I want to create and what experiences I want my members to create.
Speaker 1But also in that same aspect, even if you're not in my inner circle, like I also have programming right, and again I'm in a lot of programming how does this work? How do we really gamify this to get people to participate? How do I help and support people to grow their business if they're not getting one-on-one time with me, like my inner circle does, right? And so it's just this beautiful thing that when you put yourself in containers as a coach or mentor, you get to see what all is available, you get to see the options that are out there and you get to create it in a way that feels really, really good to you, because you have collectively gotten this knowledge and received this knowledge and put yourself in these situations. So, basically what I'm trying to say, I would not be here, I would have never gotten to multi-six figures if I had not done and put myself in those situations. I would have never been able to go from an all-service-based business, done-for-you business, to a program mastermind type of business, right. So really everything that I did got me to where I am and I will never deny the fact that I could have never I could have gotten here by myself. Could I? Yes, would I be there? Yet Probably not.
Speaker 1I believe having myself in those containers was the fast track the some people call it a cheat codes right to get to where I am. Because I got all my mentors' knowledge and they already made the mistakes right. So I got to learn so much from them because they went through all the hard stuff so that they can make it easier on me. And if I do anything in any of my programs whether it's my inner circle or omnivip or even just one thing, that's, you know, a dollar a day Like I hope that I help my program members take the shortcuts. I hope I help them fast track to where they want to go, because I've already went through all the hard-ish and I've done the hard things and I've made the freaking mistakes so that they don't have to Now.
Speaker 1I've also been hard-headed when a mentor said don't do that and I did it and then I was like, okay, should have listened. And sometimes we have to go through that first too, because I do like to prove people wrong. If you're, if you like to like be in control, you totally feel that. But it is a beautiful thing mistakes are not like to go through all that, I've been through and be able to support people on a different level.
Speaker 1So if you are not in a space, I encourage you to find one. If you do not have a mentor, I encourage you to find one. You will get to where you want to go much quicker and you get to stop spinning your wheels and say am I doing the right thing? Am I doing the wrong thing? What do I do every single day? What do I do to move the needle forward? What are my goals for a year from now? Where do I really want to be? And it's everything I'm doing in alignment with that goal. And sometimes you need tough love and sometimes you need people to ask you hard questions, and that's what mentorship is all about.
