Welcome back to the Visibility Impact Show and welcome to our 600th episode. It is insane. 600 episodes. It has been over the past three and a half years that we have recorded 600 episodes. And we typically on Thursdays have a guest. And so we decided to do something a little bit different this time. And I am the guest and I am going to be interviewed. There were some questions that were submitted from some of my clients and people online and then the rest of the questions are coming from the one and only daughter, Ava Conner. So she is going to be asking me questions today. I have no idea how this is going to go, but we're just going to roll with it. And Ava, feel free to start asking your questions. Um, okay. If you were starting over, what would you do? If I was starting over, I would prioritize something that I started prioritizing, but I didn't stick with it. And that would have been uh long term marketing content, meaning I would have started with a podcast and I would have started taking my YouTube a little bit more seriously versus just repurposing everything that I had and created on it. And the third thing that I would do is I would have been so much more specific. Yes, I was the visibility queen and I helped people get on video, but I would have been a lot more specific with who I helped and who I served. And I know that it would have like blew up my business so much faster. And with that, what would be your mantra? If I had to start over from day one, what would be my mantra? It would definitely be, get visible every day and get your offers visible every day because I did not start out that way. I was visible every day, but my offers were not. And so they never had the time in the spotlight. Great questions, by the way. Okay. How did you incorporate faith into your business over the last few years and why the change? I joined a program called God-Led and it really helped me reconnect to my faith. There were a lot of things going on in my personal life that kind of led me back to my faith. And honestly, I feel like I had a successful business without honoring God, without doing his will. So having him in my business isn't going to make it worse, right? It's going to make it better. And so it really is about doing things that honor him. You one of the things I love is that I did a post on Instagram a couple months ago about how your work is worship and how we can honor him. And there's nothing wrong with that, right? I'm just gonna become a better person, a better human. And the more I share my faith, the more that other people can see that there's something else out there besides all of the What I would say is a lot of the new age things that I was very, attracted to and I'm no longer really attracted to that type of new age religious, spiritual type of things. What platform do you believe is most underrated and why? The platform that's the most underrated, that is a great question because I have a really big love for a lot of platforms. I'm gonna say, and today in 2025, I am gonna say YouTube. And the reason I'm saying YouTube is because I believe with the onset of AI, I believe with so much noise in our feed with so many people using AI to write their content, to be their content. that especially where YouTube is no longer monetizing anything that is fake or AI created, I believe that getting people's attention and holding their attention is gonna be so much easier on a platform like YouTube or even podcasting for that matter. That's gonna be a lot of theme in today's interview, by the way. But I believe that that is where we grab people's attention and we can hold their attention a little longer than we could on TikTok or... Instagram, know, those platforms are meant to be scrolled consistently and fast, whereas YouTube people will pause and spend a little bit more time on your content. What's working for you and your clients today that is new? Again, I know this is gonna be a topic that we're gonna talk about a lot, but really focusing on that long-term marketing strategy, along with how can I become more searchable inside of CHATGPT or AI? Meaning when somebody searches for, they want help with visibility, either my content or my name comes up as the expert, as the authority that's leading the way. and they know to connect with me. So really being more searchable, getting people to watch your content for longer, and then again, having a presence in AI platforms. And then, what is one visibility win from a client that gives you goosebumps when you think about it? I just got goosebumps when you said that. So I've had clients. who lost their jobs and completely like blew their businesses up. much further than they expected, right? So they weren't planning on, they were trying to grow something on the side. I can think of like three right now. They were growing something on the side of their full-time business. They lost their job, they got laid off or whatever reason and turned around and made something huge out of the business that they'd been wanting to grow. A lot of this was because they were so visible in their industries and some of them got more visible in their industries. and they really leaned into that visibility, that knowledge, that growth, showing up on video and getting speaking opportunities and things like that. So those are the ones that I would say, one in particular, completely blew her goal out of the water, like two months before she thought she would have, and her revenue goal. And so those are the ones that I see. uh have really just hit it out of the park. And then what does being visible mean in today's media? Today's media, visible means number one, because there is so much noise online, you have to see yourself first. Like you can't be visible without knowing who you are, without being genuine and authentic. Number two is allowing yourself to be seen. And I don't mean faceless. Yes, there is a place for faceless, but you've got to build relationships and your face is going to do that quicker than anything else. Your face, people seeing your mannerisms, people seeing your energy. And the third thing is helping your clients or potential clients, your audience feeling like they are seen. Because the more that we see ourselves, the more we allow ourselves to be seen and the more that our potential clients feel seen and heard, that is what creates raving fans and that's what draws people to you. What is your favorite hack to hit record when you don't feel like it, but you know what you're going to share will help others This is gonna serve and support someone This is gonna help someone this is going to pour into someone this could be transformational to someone So why am I gonna hide that? That's really a disservice to them. If we're here to serve, if we're here to support, I'm doing my audience a disservice if I choose not to show up. It truly is about the in-person and how I can serve and support them today. And what mindset shift do most business owners need to become visible and profitable? Most of the mindset shift needs to be coming from a place of conviction, not coming from a place of, hope somebody buys today, coming from a place of knowing with certainty that what you have to offer can transform someone's life, change their life, make their life better. That is really the mindset shift because you can have all the strategy in the world, but if you don't believe it's gonna happen, if you don't believe in your product, your offer, Even your person for that matter if you don't believe that they're gonna do the work if you don't believe that they're gonna pay the prices that you charge if there's a huge disconnect and that you're gonna see that result in in your bank account and You've got to shift that mindset because if it was only strategy We could all follow a proven strategy and kill it But it's not only strategy. It's so much more How would you rebuild? That's a great question because I actually started my Instagram over in 2020. I think it was maybe 2022. I had 11,000 followers on an Instagram channel and I started over and that was proof to me that I could start over if I had to. You know, I've lost my ad account in the middle of a launch. You know, a lot of things have happened. Um, and you can look at it as loss and you can look at it as lack or you can look at it as this is really exciting. I get to attract a whole new audience, whole like people who are into what I have to offer right now in this moment. And that was one of the mindset shifts that I actually took when I redid my Instagram account is I focused on like those people have been with me for so long. I don't even know if those people on that account are still interested in what I have to offer. starting new, I know the people that are following me now, they're not gonna follow me unless they wanna hear what I have to say. And so that was really refreshing. And that's what I would look at if I lost any of my social media accounts. I would start over. I've seen people have almost 2 million TikTok followers lose their account, have to start over and they don't have the amount that they did, but they're still surviving and they're still thriving, right? So numbers are so... different today. If I had to rebuild because we're in such an interest based and most of your video content is going to be more non followers than followers, then it doesn't matter. It really doesn't matter. And how do you measure your success? I measure success by my client's success. So meaning I watch to see what's working. Are they getting results? also, are they more into their message? Are they tighter with their message? Are they refining their strategies? Are they refining their messaging? Are they increasing their prices? Are they in demand? Like, those are, that's what I'm here to do. And so, yes, we can measure with bank account, and I've measured with bank account before. but it is a totally different ballgame when you do that because when you measure success by your bank account and you have a dip or things start happening, then all of a sudden you feel like your worth is tied to that and you're no longer worthy. When was the moment that you realized visibility was the game changer as a business owner? Well, I realized that visibility was a game changer before I got visible because I couldn't sell anything. When I had my first membership that was literally $10 a month back in 2017-2018, and only the people that knew me bought, I knew that the reason why is because no one knew who I was. And I had grown the social media side of my business where I had done for you through referrals. So I didn't need to be visible in that aspect on that side of things, but in order to sell a membership, in order to sell any type of digital product, people needed to know who I was and they did it. And so therefore it showed up in the results of my selling and launching my offers. Okay. What is your 2025 visible CEO advice for the girl who gets hives when she thinks about getting on camera? 2025 visible CEO advice for the girl who gets hives when she thinks about getting on camera. Well, my 2025 advice is that they're just hives. mean, back in the day, I was so embarrassed by them that I would wear like a really, a top that came up really high or up on my neck or like almost like a turtleneck because I hated it I was so embarrassed. But even today, I still get hives. And I'll never forget, I was teaching an in-person event and these... I was like, I'm going to get hives. And they're like, that's a great thing. And I'm like, what do you mean? And they said, well, that means you're pushing more blood flow into your skin on your face. And that's a really good thing to keep you looking younger. And I'm like, okay, so I am all about the hives. I poke fun of it because I want to show other people that you can still do it. And I know quite a few people do get hives. Mine start on my chest and they grow up to my neck. But I really, know that sometimes they're gonna happen and it's so weird, because sometimes I'm not even nervous. I'm just excited about being interviewed or something like that and they show up. But it really, it really just, it's again, it's not about the hives. It's about the person that could be listening. It's about the person that I could serve and support and the person that I could help. All right, and what is one common mistake you see business owners make? One common mistake I see business owners make is they show up every day to check a box, but they don't mean it. Meaning they show up and post content every day, or they show up and create a video every day, but there's really no feeling or emotion or conviction behind it. And that's kind of like back to what I was saying. if it only took strategy, everybody would be successful because hello, we could all follow the same strategy and be successful. But if you... If you don't... yeah. Okay. If you don't have that meaning and the conviction behind it, no one, pretty much whatever you put into your content is what people are going to feel. If you put it up to check a box, they're going to realize you might get some sales out of it, but they're not going to feel connected to your content. And so the more convicted and emotion you have in creating your content, the more convicted and emotion people will have when it comes to buying. What is one thing that you wish people knew about you that they don't see online? One thing that I wish people knew about me. Okay, number one, I still get nervous. I still doubt myself. I still, you know, wonder if I'm undercharging or overcharging. So all of these things still come up and it's just how I deal with them today versus how I dealt with them when I started is just way different. You know, I... I talk about this all the time that we are the evidence, we are the proof, we have the go first energy. And it's like, sometimes what would I tell my client if they had this question? And just having that integrity of how I would answer that question or how I would react to that feeling or emotion that comes up, you know, if my clients were asking the same thing, would I walk the walk or just talk the talk? And so, yeah. Okay, what does showing up authentically look like when someone's afraid of judgment online? Someone said this in a podcast interview and I normally use the word authentic, but she said genuine she said being genuine and so It is hard to be judged But also even if you try to be a copy and be somebody else you're still gonna be judged even if you Literally are the sweetest person in the world and you never say anything that rocks That rocks the boat you never say anything that Causes friction You're still gonna get haters like people are just mean I I went on a YouTube video and was literally talking about how to grow your business and Somebody called it was YouTube live and they said I was a grandma. I was old. was ugly They told me to shut up. I mean, come on It didn't matter who I was. They were gonna say the same exact thing, right? So it didn't matter if I was a copy of somebody else or myself and so why be someone else? Because here's the problem, when you try to copy someone else and you try not to be authentic and you try to be something you're not, when people do decide to pay you and you're not the person that they thought you were online, there's a huge disconnect and if they did buy from you, odds are they probably won't buy from you again. How do you balance being so visible on social media along with protecting your boundaries? This is one of those things where we talk about, I talk about the scab, not the open or the scar, not the scab. So if I'm going through something, I may hint that something's going on, but I won't really talk about it until it's a scar and I've gotten over it. You know, it's, it's one of those fine lines that, you know, you've just got to decide how much you want to show online because Even if you have a friendship with someone and you're really good friends, there's probably a side of you they don't always see, right? And so I think you can be authentic and genuine online and also save some of the things in your personal life that you don't necessarily have to share. You can protect those spaces and you get to decide what that looks like and you can decide what those boundaries are. For example, I know people who grew their business by showing their kids on social media and decided they didn't feel good to them anymore. So they stopped. They started you know, if their kids were in a picture, they would put like a smiley face or an emoji over their face so you couldn't see their face. And so again, it's really up to you on how much you want to show. And even if you start out being an influencer model and you're sharing everything and you decide to back off a little bit, you can do that. It's your business. It's your visibility strategy and you get to decide what's too much, what's not enough. Where do I draw the line? And what is the legacy you hope to leave with your business? That's a really great question. You know, I talk about this, I did a program back in the fall when the hurricanes were hitting and all the things happened in North Carolina. It was called the ripple effect. And I believe that everything that we do creates a ripple effect. may not get, you may not get like, notoriety for it or it may not get, your name may not come up, but you're helping someone, right? So you're helping someone do something who is going to have a massive takeaway, who is going to help someone else to do something, or maybe they have a better life or they're a better parent or a better friend because of what you teach and what you do. So there is always a ripple effect. And I hope that whether my name is brought up or not, that's not the point. um So my legacy is that people really just become more genuine, more real, stop allowing the haters and cancel culture to stop them from showing up and sharing their God given gift with the world because there's so much impact. Yes, there's a lot of money to be made and there's a lot of lives to change, but that impact can go on for so long and it's so not measurable. who cares because it's not about us it truly is about the other person. Those are all my questions. All right no questions coming from my daughter just like that you want to ask? Did I put you on the spot? Yeah. Okay. All right.
