Beyond Social Media: How to Diversify Your Visibility for 2026
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
If your favorite social media platform disappeared tomorrow, how many people could still find you? Most entrepreneurs don't own their visibility, they rent it from algorithms they can't control. In this episode, Crissy Conner breaks down the "Visibility Diversification" strategy for 2026, shifting you from borrowed traffic to owned assets like email and searchable content that works while you sleep and don't lose the human connection.

I want to ask you something with today's episode and I want you to sit with this. If your favorite go-to social media platform that you market your business on disappeared tomorrow, not crashed, not you went to Facebook, Instagram, whatever jail, but literally disappeared, how many people could still find you? If that question made your stomach drop even slightly. This episode is for you. So many women are consistent with their content when it comes to getting on social media. Maybe not as consistent as I would love you to be with video, but you are consistent nonetheless with putting out consistent content every single day or at least most days. And that is fabulous. That is fantastic. However, you're posting. You're showing up on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn. Let's say the algorithm shifts. Let's say your reach drops. Let's say your engagement disappears. And suddenly, so does your business. If social media is the only place that people can find you, you are not building true visibility. You are renting it. And today we're going to talk about what it looks like to actually own it. you spend months or maybe even years building an audience on a platform. You pour your heart into your content. I feel it. You grow maybe a thousand couple thousand. Maybe you've hit the coveted 10,000 followers and something happens. Whether it's the platform or an algorithm or AI is taking over the world, right? But your posts go from reaching 30 % of your audience to maybe 3%. And the fact is you didn't do anything wrong. But we don't own social media. It is borrowed. We can always have the opportunity to have borrowed traffic. We can have paid traffic, meaning ads, and we can have own traffic, which is like our email list, right? We can also have searchable traffic. We can have individual traffic. We have so many other things besides social media. Listen, I am the biggest proponent of social media and I know what social media can do for your business. And I also know what can't happen for your business if these other boxes aren't checked, if you aren't diversifying the visibility the way that you could be. Now let's dive into email for a second because we touched on email as it is own traffic, right? We own that list. Now those people can unsubscribe. Absolutely. You can lose that list. Absolutely. But for the most part, that list is yours. It belongs to you. And your email list is the only audience that you own. When someone gives you their email address, saying, I want to hear from you directly. Now, granted, yes, that email has to be deliverable. That email has to be opened. And if you're selling an offer, there has to be clicks made. But the point is, it is your own traffic. It is another way to diversify your visibility. I've always said, and when it comes to email content, even if they don't open your email, we obviously want them to open the email, but if they don't, they're gonna see you consistently coming through their inbox, and that is visibility. The next thing we want to focus on is searchable visibility. If we aren't searchable, and yes, I taught many times how to be searchable in Instagram and TikTok and Facebook and even LinkedIn for that matter and Pinterest and YouTube. So there are a lot of opportunities to be searchable on the platforms, but there are so many people that aren't doing the work. because this is the long game. Being searchable, writing a blog, doing podcasting, I mean, I'm over 600 episodes, friends. growing a YouTube channel is not like overnight launch success. It takes time. It gets better with age. It gets better with searchability. you know, writing content, optimizing it, making sure it's searchable, making sure it has all the keywords. This is like not an easy job. It's a lot of work. Don't get me wrong. But this is the kind of visibility that works while you sleep. This is the kind of visibility that people find you. And we also have new on the scene, obviously, AI search. When we think of ChatUBT and Gemini and Google AI overviews and perplexity and Claude. And by extension, how people are utilizing these tools to find their next coach, their next service provider, their next product. When someone types, what's the best X, Y, Z into an AI tool, that tool is pulling from content that exists on the internet. the podcast episodes, the blog posts, your show notes, your website. But if you have no written content on the internet, yes, search can pull through social media platforms, absolutely. If they are public, if your profile is not public, it can't. However, we want more than just social media. We want them to find other authority pieces from you, other thought leader pieces from you. This does not mean that you need to become a full-time content writer. It means that being intentional, like again, publishing show notes, not just throwing up an episode, which I say the same thing when people go live or throw up a reel and they don't put any context with it, like put the text there. Like that's what Instagram is gonna search, right? It's the same thing for your podcast. The more details we can give, can we transcribe the episode and drop that in? Like I use Buzzsprout. Like what are the things that we can do? But also using natural conversation language. Yes, AI writes like AI. But AI wants to know that you don't write like AI and that you actually talk like a human being. using the kind of language that people actually use when they're looking for help. When we think of SEO and we think of AI, I want to think of this as our 24 hour, seven day a week, 365 days a year visibility system. Because social media requires you show up on a feed pretty much every day. There's short term marketing strategies. Search requires you show up once and then it keeps working and you keep doing things obviously to remain searchable and to compound that searchability, but they go hand in hand. There are things when it comes to visibility that we've talked about the masses, if you listen to the Give Me 10 episode, Visibility in 10 Minutes, and we've talked about so many other things. But if we aren't willing to get visible to the individual, that one-on-one conversation, and no, I do not mean gross, gross, let's come by for me. That's not what I mean. I mean talking to human beings. People are looking for more human connection than ever because no one trusts any content that's put out right now. If it even even has an indication that AI wrote it. Like people are turning their nose up to it. They want authenticity. They want the human connection. They want to feel like you really care. And listen, the authenticity part and the caring part, that didn't just come out of 20, it just start in 2026. Like Gary V said, probably in 2019, the best marketing strategy you can have ever is to care. Human connection, been going on for years. Authenticity, going on for years because too many people are trying to be a copy of somebody else. Or they're all being a copy now, right, of what AI tells them to say. We wanna make sure that we are keeping that human connection with the individual. We wanna make sure we're keeping that human connection in the comments. Like again, like I teach in the 10 minute visibility strategy. We wanna make sure that we are keeping that human connection through our storytelling, through the things that have happened to us, through our opinions. through our experiences. That's why people hire you, not because of what AI is telling you to put in your content. People are hiring you because of your experience. People are hiring you because of the way that you show up. People are hiring you because of the way that you hold yourself. People are hiring you because, or not hiring you, because of the confidence you hold and the expertise that you hold and the knowing that you hold that you are the person that can help them transform, facilitate change, whatever it is in their life. We also get to focus on being. Visible through the leverage through other people's audiences borrowing other people's audiences Again, maybe you don't have a podcast and we talked about that Maybe you don't have a blog post, but you should have one one or the other or both. Whatever I'm not asking you to completely like not live your life however We've got to leverage other people's audiences. How can we do that be a podcast guest be a guest blogger? Be a guest in somebody's group Leverage the audience that they've already built trust with and they will build trust with you, too And the final way that we talk about really focusing on visibility is getting visible through your offers. Like showing people the offers and what they do for them. What's the transformation that they get from this? Like letting them see that and letting them feel that through the conversations that you have with them. We talk about masses content, which is obviously video, social media content, and it's all important, friends. I'm not sitting here saying that stop posting on social media. It is still very important for the daily sales, for the conversations. That is still very, very crucial to your visibility strategy. know, one of the reasons that I am creating, we're doing this later this week, but We're doing it live later this week. It'll be available for Evergreen after that. But we are doing a live lab of video creation. Why? Because I want you to be on video. I don't want you to have a barrier or a block about getting on video. And I sure as heck don't want you creating an AI twin to get on video for you to build more distrust in the online space, someone there already is. People are gonna do it, that's great, that's fine, but I want people to see the real you. The real, quirky, whatever it is you are, right? The authentic you. But deep down inside, the convicted, passionate you of why you're so passionate about what you do and how much you want to help serve and support people. At the end of the day, we're going to see that the coaches, the business owners, the online business owners who stand out the most this year are going to be beyond the ones with most followers. going to be the people who have the most trust. And trust is built one genuine conversation, one honest email, one face to cam video where you pour your heart out, your convicted heart out to your audience, one real moment at a time. If you take nothing else from this episode, stop putting all your eggs in the social media platform basket. You don't own that. Keep posting there. It is part of a great visibility strategy, but it is not the only place you should be. build on land that belongs to you, your website, your email list, your reputation, your connection with people. creating content blogs, thought leader pieces that can be searched and found. Showing up in a way that AI can search you, like creating the right paths that AI can search you. And for please, for all that is holy, pick something that you're gonna be known for. Don't confuse. the platforms that you are on. Don't confuse the land that you do own. Be known for something. It doesn't put you in a box. creates, it basically takes you and creates a magnet. You are magnetizing people to you. When you settle on one thing, it does not mean you're in a box. It does not mean you can't do anything outside of that. But focus on being known for one thing. And it creates a lot easier visibility strategy too. And no matter what, through all of this, don't you lose the human thread. Don't lose the human touch. That is what makes you irreplaceable. Your ideal clients are out there looking for exactly the result and the solution that you provide. The question is, can they find you anywhere besides social media? Can they connect with you? in a human way and the answer, if the answer is not yet, let's change that. If this episode resonated, make sure you share it with someone who also needs to hear this today. I want you to be visible and I want you diversifying your visibility. And we cannot do that by social media alone. We have to get outside of social media as much as I'm a proponent of social media, of video content. It is not everything. It is a huge chunk and a great piece of it. And it has gotten me a lot of clients and a lot of opportunities. But the way the world is changing, it cannot be everything. And you cannot put all your eggs in one basket anymore. So I challenge you diversify your visibility. If you haven't done the give me 10, that is a great program for $27 to grab. And if you haven't been getting on video because of the editing and the tech that's involved, check out unmuted. We're gonna do that live. you're not, and if you don't listen to this live, then it'll be on replay, but we're gonna do that as a live lab together. and you're gonna walk away with content created, video content created. If this resonated, again, share it with someone who needs to hear it. Come find me somewhere I actually own, thevisibleceo.com, connect with me, and let's have a conversation. Because I love talking to people, and I am very approachable, and I never, ever wanna lose. that human touch and human connection.
