Independence Day Reflection
Every year Americans celebrate freedom.
But freedom was never the miraculous discovery.
The miraculous discovery was the understanding of reality and that ordinary people could govern themselves.
The question isn't whether freedom still exists.
The question is whether we remain capable of freedom.

Because freedom requires something of us:

• Responsibility.
• Accountability.
• Character.
• Integrity.
• Self-governance.

And it all begins with a simple question:
